I recently stayed at Holiday Inn Chang An West Beijing with a group from 24th to 26th April, and while the property has some positives, our overall experience was quite mixed. To begin with, the hotel is located a fair distance from Beijing’s main tourist attractions, which means longer travel times to key landmarks and central areas. However, there are a few shopping malls and local conveniences nearby, which can be useful for short visits and basic needs. The hotel itself is fairly large and appears well-equipped to handle group travellers. The rooms were spacious, and the bathrooms were notably large and well-lit. One unique aspect I noticed—something I have not come across in other hotels—was the presence of face masks kept in the room for emergency use in case of fire, to prevent smoke inhalation. Another thoughtful touch was that all toiletries were clearly labeled, with small name cards placed both at the wash basin and inside the shower cubicle. That said, the absence of a health faucet may be inconvenient for some guests. Unfortunately, the biggest issue we faced was the hotel’s rigid air conditioning policy. The temperature was fixed at 26°C, and despite repeated complaints, the staff refused to lower it, stating that cooler settings are only available during the summer months. With Beijing already warm during our stay, the rooms became extremely stuffy. Since the windows could not be opened, there was no access to fresh air, leading to significant discomfort and frustration within our group. The breakfast spread was average at best, and vegetarian options were quite limited. While the staff were generally polite, communication was a challenge as only a few could understand English, though some did try to assist using translation tools. Another disappointing experience was at the main gate, where staff refused to allow our coach to enter the premises. As a result, our group—including elderly members—had to carry or wheel luggage from the main road, which was highly inconvenient. Overall, while the hotel has decent infrastructure, the lack of flexibility and focus on guest comfort—especially regarding air conditioning—makes it difficult to recommend. Personally, I would not choose to stay here again, particularly outside peak summer months. Warm regards, Alan Woods

The room, location and the fecility everything was good. One bad experience i faced there was in the breakfast time. One fool badged as head chef in the egg- station behaved very badly when i requested scrambled egg... He was talking and making fun of me in chinese with other lady. I t happened on 27th March 2026. Not at all respectful to the Hotel guests.
The room is spacious. The breakfast is bountiful and delicious. The ambience is clean and tranquil.
À convenient hotel for work in West Beijing. 15 minutes walk from nearest subway station. The rooms are clean and functional with a design dating from the 2000s. Breakfast buffet offers a wide choice and there is a Starbucks Coffee shop in the hotel. Staff are helpful and competent. Good for business but not really for tourism.
Nice chain hotel with clean, comfortable rooms. Dining room is busy but plenty of tables available with standard buffet style fare. Location is not in the city centre, you will need a taxi or public transport to get to the main attractions. There are 2 Metro stations (in opposite directions) around 10 minutes walk away.
