Stayed here for three nights at the start of our September China trip, and this one set the bar high. The Grand Club lounge was the best of every Hyatt we stayed at on this trip — great breakfast spread in the morning and a genuinely good evening offering, with staff who kept everything running smoothly. The location is hard to beat for first-time Beijing visitors: right on Wangfujing in the Oriental Plaza complex, an easy walk to the shopping streets and well positioned for the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square. Our room was comfortable and quiet, check-in recognized my Globalist status without any fuss, and the whole stay just felt effortless. If you're doing Beijing for the first time, start here.

A very comfortable hotel, with good access to all the sites, via a convenient Mtr station. Comfortable rooms and friendly staff. Located above a shopping mall, which contains as few decent places to eat. We don’t enjoy paying the extortionate hotel breakfast prices, so we would have breakfast in the ‘Paris Baguette’ in the mall, which was excellent and cheap. The pool area is excellent for an indoor pool in as city centre Hotel.
The hotel is comfortable, clean and in a very central location, but considering the price, it didn’t offer the value we expected. Our room overlooked a normal city street rather than having any memorable view, and entering or leaving the hotel by car often involved heavy traffic. We also found the concierge service less helpful than expected for a luxury hotel. We asked for assistance with organising sightseeing, but they were unable to help. The restaurant recommended by the hotel told us that one of the signature dishes on the menu was sold out, although we later discovered it was actually available. Breakfast offered a good variety and the quality was good, but there was a long queue to get in. Overall, it felt fairly ordinary for a hotel in this price range. On the positive side, a couple of staff members were genuinely kind and went out of their way to help us. They made several phone calls to assist us in finding a particular item we wanted to buy, and we really appreciated their effort. Overall, this is a good hotel in a convenient location, but given the premium price, we expected a more memorable experience and a higher level of service. If it were significantly cheaper, I would happily stay here again, but at its current price I don’t think it represents good value.
Our stay at the Grand Hyatt Beijing was extremely disappointing and fell well below the standard we expected from a Hyatt property. Prior to our arrival, we contacted the hotel and made two simple requests due to travelling with two young children after an 18-hour journey. We asked whether an earlier check-in could be accommodated and requested that our two booked rooms be located on the same floor. Unfortunately, neither request was met, nor did there appear to be any genuine effort made to assist us. We arrived at the hotel at approximately 8:30am after our long flight, exhausted and travelling with two very tired young children. Despite advising the hotel of our arrival time well in advance, we were left waiting around the hotel until 3:00pm before we could access our first room. To make matters worse, our second room was not available until 4:00pm. Spending over six hours waiting for a room after an 18-hour journey with young children was incredibly frustrating and not what we expected from a premium hotel. The check-in experience itself was poor. Staff were unhelpful and showed little interest in resolving our concerns. When we raised our disappointment regarding the room delays and unmet requests, the response was dismissive and lacked any genuine customer care. Another issue that left a particularly bad impression was being charged 68 RMB (approximately AUD $14) for a small cup of milk for our baby. We requested milk each evening, assuming it was a simple courtesy or reasonably priced room service item. To discover we were being charged such an excessive amount for what amounted to half a cup of milk was shocking. When we questioned the pricing, the response from staff was essentially, "It is what it is," with no explanation or willingness to assist. We also paid extra for Club Lounge access and, in hindsight, it was absolutely not worth the additional cost. The breakfast offering was extremely poor compared to other club lounges we have experienced around the world, with limited selection and very little that felt premium. The afternoon tea was particularly disappointing and felt almost pointless, offering very little value for guests paying for club access. If you are considering upgrading to the Club Lounge, save your money. For a hotel carrying the Hyatt name, we expected significantly better service, communication, and customer care. Instead, we felt like our concerns were ignored and that basic hospitality was lacking throughout our stay. Unfortunately, we would not recommend the Grand Hyatt Beijing and will not be returning on future visits to Beijing. There are plenty of other hotels in the city that offer far better value and, more importantly, genuinely care about their guests.
I had a mixed but overall pleasant stay at this hotel. The property itself is absolutely beautiful. upscale and well-maintained, and the amenities really stand out. The swimming pool and sauna are fantastic , both were clean, relaxing, and a highlight of my stay. The location is another major plus. It’s very convenient, just a short drive to the Forbidden City and within walking distance of many shops. One of my favourite parts of the hotel was the coffee shop. It offers high-quality drinks and pastries definitely worth visiting even if you’re not staying at the hotel. That said, there were a few downsides. The breakfast was disappointing . I would rate it about 2 out of 5. The buffet lacked quality, and some of the hot food items were not actually hot. For example, the pork dishes were barely warm. The ramen was also very bland. The room did not offer good value for the price. It was small, especially considering the high rate. The bathroom had no bathtub. Overall, this hotel offers great ambiance, location, and amenities, but falls short when it comes to breakfast quality and room value for the price.
