Simon is Incredible! I’ve never took such beautiful pictures with my iPhone as I did now. I took incredible pictures, learned how to use our imagination in a creative way. and I could never imagine that. He is outstanding and I strongly recommend this tour! I personally will do it again!

This was, without question, one of the best tours I have ever experienced. Simon and this tour exceeded every expectation I had. As someone who loves history and photography, this tour was absolutely perfect for me. Simon took some of the most beautiful photos of me using nothing more than an iPhone. Honestly, the images turned out better than what I’ve been able to achieve with my professional camera. He doesn’t just take your pictures—he teaches you how to use your phone’s camera settings and composition techniques to create stunning photographs on your own. I was traveling solo, and he went above and beyond to make sure I had the experience of my dreams. He recommended wonderful places to eat, shared local insights, and made me feel completely at ease. Originally, my priorities were visiting the Roman Baths and Prior Park. Not only did Simon customize the experience so I could enjoy his private photography tour, but he also accompanied me through the Roman Baths and made sure I had time to experience everything that was important to me. He never made me feel rushed and was incredibly thoughtful and patient throughout the day. One of the most memorable moments was arriving at Prior Park. It was a place I had dreamed of visiting, and I became emotional seeing it in person. Simon met that moment with such kindness and compassion, helping me process the experience instead of rushing past it. That level of care meant more than I can express. The experience didn’t stop with the tour itself. Simon truly wanted me to experience Bath like a local. Thanks to him, I visited a local pub, enjoyed an incredible magic performance, and had my very first Guinness. Those unexpected moments became some of my favorite memories of the trip. By the end of the day, Simon didn’t feel like a tour guide—he felt like a friend. I’m a keen photographer and try to pick up local workshops when I travel anywhere in the world. The afternoon we spent with Simon was simply fabulous. Simon was extremely kind with his time, knowledge and mentoring. He gave tips on style and composition which I valued greatly and at some point during the tour even gave advice on what pubs to eat at which we did follow up and yep that too was great. Regardless of the equipment you use, if you’re remotely interested in photography and in bath, this tour is a must do.

I really enjoyed the tour. Simon was friendly, patient in answering all my questions, and generously shared many techniques and tips that I'll be using in my photography from now on. With his guidance, I started to frame shots differently, and came away with many amazing photos. Overall a fantastic experience :)

Simon had very generously gifted a tour to raise money for a charity and I was lucky enough to win it! We met exactly as planned and I had a great few hours in his company. Some of the photographic tips were reminders about using what's in a location to enhance photos. Others were new to me and I'll certainly be looking at pavements in a different way now! There was useful info on reflections and both losing and using them and Simon also threw in titbits of info about Bath as we went. Getting photos sent through on email after the tour was not something I expected and acts as a great reminder of the techniques. We recently joined this photography walking tour with Simon in Bath and it was a fantastic experience. Following the article featuring Simon's photographic walking tours in Bath in the February 2026 edition of "Digital Camera" magazine (Issue 303), I contacted Simon to arrange a 1:1 walking tour to get some hints and tips on architectural composition and general handling of my new camera. His communication was excellent and a suitable date arranged. During our walking tour, Simon guided me around his home city and gave great advice on photo composition and things to think about when framing the shots. Great conversation throughout the tour and some good results - highly recommended, terrific afternoon - thank you!

This was an excellent couple of hours. Simon is an excellent tutor: a friendly, supportive, knowledgeable expert who will teach you how to realise the potential that lies in your mobile phone to capture wonderful images through using imagination and their image capture and editing capabilities. I learnt so much and will never look at a puddle in the same way again!

Excellent tour! I now act like my dog with head down all the way time. Mostly because Simon taught me the beauty of photos through reflections in water. But best of all is he showed me additional features on my iPhone settings I didn’t know I had or had to use.

If you think you might have an eye for photography but you want to upgrade your skills, Simon is the person to walk with and listen to. He is all about composition and what makes a photo work, and he is adept at imparting what he knows. I liked learning how good composition is something we can invent by taking advantage of the ordinary things that surround us - people sitting, people moving, reflections in glass, any reflective surface, the shadows that things cast. His tour/lecture went beyond the allotted time, he covered a lot of material, when it was over I was glad I did this. Strongly recommend to anyone who is open to seeing more of what’s out there and using what you see to create compelling compositions.

No need to deliberate over whether or not to spend photo time with Simon Lees. He is full of experience, strength, and enthusiasm for helping you take great photos. All four of us, experienced photographers to one who takes virtually no photos, enjoyed and learned from our time with him.

From the get go Simon was personable and friendly, starting with an overview of our phones and then diving straight into taking a photo of Bath Abbey. Within a very short space of time I realised how little I knew of the functions on my iphone camera. The tour took us to all the usual sites in Bath but Simon made sure we were looking at them through different eyes, using all sorts of techniques to frame and compose shots. A fantastic session and highly recommended for anyone wanting to up their iPhone photography game. Some great photos to remember the day by as well!

A great way of seeing Bath from a different angle, literally. It really opened my eyes to ways of seeing familiar things in a different way. I also learned a huge amount about photo composition, framing shots, using light and reflections and not least the myriad ways of enhancing a photo in the iPhone. All in all a fantastic experience. This was such a great tour. Simon spent time explaining how to make the best if my iPhone and the light conditions before we started - I had no idea my iPhone could do so many things! The tour itself took in the most beautiful and iconic landmarks in Bath and with Simon’s expert guidance I came away with sone fantastic shots of Bath Abbey, Royal Crescent, the Roman Baths and The Circus and a new understanding if how to take great photos with my phone. I would highly recommend!

Simon was an excellent teacher and good company too! Totally inspiring! Learnt about different angles, upside down, perspectives, reflections, framing, and using other objects. Also the many things you can do (quickly) to enhance the image on an iPhone. Photos taken on an African Safari a month later were in a different league to previously. UK photos have hugely improved too ;) Highly recommended.

I've lived in Bath all my life but never actually taken a good photo of it! Simon was great company with a wealth of local knowledge and he showed me how to look at things from a different perspective. He also knows his way around a camera (obviously) so I was able to get a few pro tips to help move me away from full auto settings. I highly recommend this walking tour. Even if you are not really into photography you will end up with something much better than the usual holiday snaps. I wish I found a similar tour when I visited New York many years ago (franchise?). Best of all we ended up in the pub for a couple of cheeky pints!

Had a great time. I fancy myself as a bit of a photographer, got the big SLR cameras but they are a pain to lug around. So, being able to take better than just snaps and selfies with my phone was something I was keen to explore, and where better than the beautiful city of Bath. Simon was amazing, he knows his photography, and his city, and is great company. We chatted about my aims for the tour, cleaned my phone camera lens!! and set off. Simon has an easy way of showing you all the stuff you should know about your phone camera settings (but clearly don’t) without making you feel silly. We strolled round all the main sights, trying different settings and creative techniques as we went along. I can safely say the vertical panorama is a game changer! And had great fun pouring water on the floor to get some amazing reflections. Thoroughly recommend Simon and this tour, whether you are an enthusiastic beginner or a more experienced photographer. It’s great value compared to many other photography courses and tours I’ve done before, and I learned so much in a really short space of time. And most importantly, it’s fun, and you leave with some cracking images. Only downside, you’ll find yourself heading for the nearest phone shop at the end of the tour, looking for a phone upgrade 😁.
