I felt it was too expensive. Nice to learn about the city but only used the hope on hope of for one stop, everything was with in walkable distance and discovered more by walking. So expensive for what was really a 40 minute bus tour.

We usually use this when visiting a city as it is the best way to visit a new place. It is also helpful for me as I am a wheelchair user and it is very easy to access my seat.
The bus tour itself was good however finding the right location and times is extremely difficult, it’s poorly advised where each tour starts
Two interesting tours- inner city and outer historical places of interest - on a miserable wet day. Bath is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with history going back to pre Roman. It's good that the city council is doing all it can to maintain it's heritage, including 17th century road conditions.
Good bus tour around central Bath as we chose the red line. We stayed on the bus to see where things were and then returned the following morning to visit the Royal Circle and royal crescent. Ticket valid for 24 hours so we had time to go where we wanted on 2nd day then to walk back through the town.
Great way to see the main sites of Bath and get your bearings. We bought a 48 hour ticket which worked out well as we used it to get around the city on the second day. The views are stunning and it was a good “first day” option to help plan what we wanted to see on day two. Bear in mind that the timetable is flexible to say the least and they had run out of paper maps when we went which was a bit of a pain Staff are great, really friendly and the
Had a great time, narrating very informative.
My husband is a new wheelchair user and we are working out what we can and can’t do. The tour operator helped with the ramp and ensured my husband got on the bus safely. That means a lot. It meant we could enjoy the bus ride together.
We used the bus with a wheel chair bound family member. The disable space was ample although the female driver was the only one to offer to put the ramp out for us, 1 out of 3 journeys. The bus helped us to plan our stay by giving us a view of places we wanted to visit in more detail. The history story tell was very interesting which you could plug into with free ear phones and adjust to your own listening level.
It was raining and busses would no come to stop as they should, we got wet and decided to cancel but at that moment 2 buses arrive at the same time, today we are sick
The tour guide listened to through earphones was really informative. We did both the skyline and city tour routes. The skyline one was the one we enjoyed most as the views were so good.
Both tours were enjoyable and hearing the history Did have a problem with booking as tickets didn’t come through so were advised to cancel and get tickets on the bus, hoping my refund will come through
Driver more interested on asking the passengers where they booked and why they didn’t buy the ticket on board
Was rainy but this got us out and about. Driver stopped and wiped sweaty windows and opened transom windows which helped visibility.
Good way to see the city although Bath is very walkable so not really necessary. That said, if you have any kind of a disability or walking difficulties, I would recommend it. I miss when there used to be live guides giving commentary, which was very often funny and informative. Now it is just headphones and a prerecorded track, which can be a bit difficult to hear properly, at least on the upper deck. That said, it’s nice to sit and take in the sun up there on a nice day!
They were prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. No problems at all!
Been to a few hoho bus tours and this is definitely the best. Frequent service with convenient stops servicing the city centre and the outskirts (two routes) with clear sometime repetitive commentary. Bath is compact but hilly and this bus is a very good solution if you are tired or have mobility issues . Friendly drivers.
Just wanted to say a huge thank you to the excellent team at the Bath hop on hop off bus! We had a great time when we visited on Thursday and felt it was excellent value for money. The staff on the ground who spoke to us at the bus stop and walked us over were very welcoming and knowledgeable, they were so cheerful and helpful! The bus drivers were also friendly and fun, the whole experience was great. Would highly recommend!
The female driver was horrible. She did not communicate with any of us. When she got into Tempe bus he only went one stop and pulled over for about 5 minutes. About 5 more stops she went around the square twice, keep in mind this was during rush hour, to go 2 blocks took about 30 minutes. After she went around the second time, she decided to pull over turned the bus off and walked around talking on her cell phone. After 10 mins passed she said something along the lines that she couldn’t keep driving and another bus was going to pick us up. I would have rated this tour higher if it wasn’t because of the driver and lack of communication.
A pleasant experience and an easy way to get your bearings of the city for further exploration, coverung all the main tourist attractions.
Well we enjoyed both bus tours (routes) basically the tick was valid for 24 hours ment we got nearly two days out of it . Audio headsets supplied with the price , we booked on the bus the day we went. Friendly bus driver gave us best tips what side to sit at etc to see the views and sights. Plenty of buses I’d say around every 15 - 20 minutes that makes hop on off easy , to view what’s on offer. It’s a good experience to start off with to get the grounding of Bath Well recommended, we had a scorcher weather on our tours round.
Enjoyable and informative tour. Give you a good insight to the city. Headphone are supplied for commentary and they're very good.
We had an absolutely fantastic stay in Bath! The Property: The house and garden were complete perfection. Even with temperatures reaching 30°C outside, the house stayed surprisingly cool and comfortable simply by keeping the windows open and the shutters drawn. The Location: You couldn't ask for a better spot. It’s close to everything, making it effortless to explore during the day and enjoy the fantastic local nightlife in the evening. We had a brilliant time, would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting the area, and will definitely be coming back!
Upon arriving in Bath we immediatly spotted the open top tour bus so not being familar with the city we decided to go for it. After departing with the best part of fifty quid we were handed 2 pairs of silicon in ear buds for the commentary. Being hearing impaired and a hearing aid user for me these are about as much use as a chocolate mudflap so I asked if they had an alternative, nope they didn't. So there I sat with no commentary and no idea where we were. Very disappointing and a total waste of time and money, as it turned out Bath is quite compact and easily walkable. May I boldly suggest making better provisions for deaf and hearing impaired people such as over ear headphones a bluetooth connection to stream to hearing aids. Even a printed commentary while not ideal would be a start.
Two routes covered by ticket which take you to all the places of interest. Good tour & worth the money. The negative- when listening to the audio provided it did not always coincide with the stops marked on the map provided which meant we missed the stop we wanted.
Interesting place. Roman Baths a must see. Charming town. Many restaurants were closed due to heat wave and no air conditioning. Cute place for a day trip
It was not easy to follow the map on the skyline tour and I was dropped off a few minutes from the University stop and it was not explained that the American museum was on the university campus. Do your homework.
We did both tours around bath. You can hop on/off which we did. You get to see the main attractions easier than walking everywhere. Given headphones for running commentary on history of place.
Would highly recommend this if visiting Bath with a short amount of time to see the sights. Our coach operator dropped us off and said we had just over 3 hours to look around before he picked us up again. Having previously visited Bath a few years ago we'd already seen the Roman Baths and Abbey, so with the limited time available we opted for the City and Skyline Tours (total duration around 2 hours). Whilst £ 45.00 for the 2 of us was a bit hefty given this is a 24hr ticket (it makes it expensive at around £ 11.25 per person per hour if your on a limited timescale). Having said that we wouldn't have been able to see all the sights that Bath has to offer the City Tour shows you all of the relevant places of interest within the City, whilst the Skyline Tour gives you wonderful panoramic views of the City and Surrounding area. Found the on board audio guide very helpful if at times we found ourselves looking back at something which we'd past and the audio was out of sequence with. Would definitely suggest you sit on the upper deck if you can as at this time of year views can be lost to those on the lower deck because the trees are in full leaf. Also suggest it would be the ideal way to see Bath if the weathers not so good. Our driver was OK helped us set up our audio equipment as we struggled to get any volume.
Expected more history and commentary rather than awful music. We did city and skyline tour. The driver told us off for not putting our hand out to stop him early enough. We thought they stopped at every stop. No stops were announced so we didn’t realise where we were. Nowhere near as informative at City Tours in York Chester and Bristol that we have done recently.
We had a stop over in Bath after having a few days in Cornwall. Twenty one of decided to do the city tour. The operations manager was there, he gave us a god deal. £409.00 for all of us, as long as it was on one transaction. Some of our party are elderly who couldn’t go up the stairs, so I sat down with them. There were two members of staff, one the driver and other a conductor/helper. As we set off the staff went to the back of the bus, sat down and watched videos on his phone quite loudly. Most of the elderly had difficulty with the audio. Instead the staff coming to help he watched me and continued to watch videos on his phone. During most of the journey I went round helping them, while he just sat there. I never saw any of the sights or heard the audio as I was busy helping everyone! The only time the staff got up is when a couple boarded the bus to check their tickets. I personally wouldn’t do the city tour as it was very busy, there is so much traffic. Plus they give you earphones so there is no personal touch as a person speaking gives you. It’s difficult for the elderly to figure how to work out the audio system. Staff are not bothered, there is no customer service. Plus they are reluctant to support you in anyway. The bus driver decided to drop the step to get off the bus after we came back, when clearly most of my group struggled with getting on. This was only done after a member of my group asked. The service was awful staff are mean and uncaring. They just want to take your money. They are unhelpful and rude. PLEASE PLEASE! read this before you decide to go on this bus tour, especially at busy times.
The Bath Sightseeing buses are the best deal to see the entire town and the surrounding area. The audio tour was informative and fun to listen and learn. The ability to get on the City tour or the Skyline tour for 24 hours was great! The drivers were all friendly and knowledgeable. But Dennis saved me, so he's my favorite of the drivers. I left my backpack on the upper deck when we got off. And it was a bit of stress. But the buses cycle every 15 minutes and when Dennis came back with his bus, he had my backpack waiting for me! The drivers and the manager were super nice. I'm so glad we did these buses twice each!!! And thank you, Dennis, for being such a kind gentleman!!!
Excellent value and best option to view and learn about Bath. The bus has many stops and a wealth of information and history via the headset guided tour. The hop on and off has great timed routes so we could see the inside route (1) and outskirts route (2) of the beautiful city.
Great day out in Bath and the buses come quite often. Very helpful and polite staff. Commentary is very good and explains everything as you go along. Would recommend this tour.
We booked a 48 hour ticker for 2 adults and 1 child in Bath. The email came through on our phone while we were out in the city that our tickets were ready to use on 6/7, but there was no QR code attached on the email or on the link you clicked in the email that took you to the viator.com page. I tried to take a screenshot showing that 3 48 hour tickets had been purchased with the booking number, but no Hop on Hop off Bus drivers would let us on that 1st day without a QR code so we paid for a service we could not access during the 1st 48 hours. The drivers told us we should try to cancel the tickets through viator and buy then directly from them to ride the bus, but we were not able to cancel the tickets bc it was not 24 hours before the day they were to be used. Viator should refund the ticket cost for the 1st day of the 48 hour tickets as we were not allowed on the buses without a QR code that was sent on the 2nd day. I'm attaching all that was shown on my phone when the email was sent and on the Viator.com site, no QR code to use
Although City Sightseeing usually caters to visitors from abroad, beware that the Bath Hop On Hop Off only runs in English (as at June 2026). The buses are all equipped with multi-language audio guide systems, so I assume they did have translations at some point but the current tour recording hasn’t yet been translated to other languages. Giving this a one star due to poor customer service we experienced when dealing with the company in relation to the matter. I would recommend to purchase tickets on sight only rather than online like we did.
A good way to get an overview of the city and surrounding countryside. Unlike other tours the commentary is delivered through headphones. A good way to spend a few hours if doing both tours on the one ticket.
Pick up location options were difficult to find. There wasn't alot of stops and at times the commentary was out of sync with our location but the views and information given in the commentary were great
I am writing to formally complain about the conduct of one of your drivers on Saturday 23 May 2026 in central Bath. I boarded the sightseeing bus with my daughter after asking the driver whether I could pay the local fare to travel to The Circus, where I live. This was declined by your driver. I explained that I have used this service several times before and have previously been charged a local fare without issue. The driver informed me that locals were not permitted to use the service unless they had a local card. I then showed him my Discovery Card and asked again whether myself and my daughter could board the bus. We were eventually allowed onto the bus. As we boarded, the driver loudly said “Jesus Christ” in an aggressive and frustrated tone behind us. We took our seats quietly on the lower deck at the front of the bus and did not engage with him further. Shortly afterwards, while passengers were seated waiting for departure, the driver repeatedly called over his radio or phone stating “3636, 3636, if you don’t answer I’m going to walk off the job.” He then began telling management or colleagues that there were “two very aggressive local passengers” on the bus and that he was refusing to drive. This was entirely false. Neither myself nor my daughter behaved aggressively, raised our voices, made threats, or caused any disturbance whatsoever. Other passengers on the bus appeared confused and shocked by what was being said, and some were visibly looking around trying to understand who he was referring to. As we asked each other what is going on… The driver continued escalating the situation, repeatedly claiming we were aggressive despite the fact we were simply sitting silently in our seats. He contacted the police and reported that he had aggressive passengers onboard. I heard him admit that no threats had been made, yet he still insisted he wanted us removed from the bus. A second driver then attended the bus and asked us what had happened. Even at this stage, the original driver continued making accusations about our behaviour. He became increasingly agitated, pacing, shaking, and making comments including “I’m autistic, you’re discriminating against me” and “look at your behaviour.” Again another false accusation and having a diagnosis of autism myself I find this statement extremely disturbing. At no stage did I respond aggressively or engage in confrontation. As a member of the local government, I found the entire situation extremely concerning and wholly disproportionate. I was particularly distressed that this occurred in front of my daughter. The second driver handled the matter professionally and kindly offered for us to transfer onto his bus instead, which we accepted. Even after we had left the original vehicle, the first driver still refused to continue service and continued making hostile remarks toward us while passengers looked on in disbelief. The second driver then asked all the passengers to board his bus if they chose too and they all did. I also wish to note that I recorded the incident in full. I am deeply disturbed by the driver’s conduct, his false allegations, his misuse of police involvement, and the distress caused to both myself and my child. His behaviour appeared unstable, confrontational, and entirely inappropriate for somebody responsible for public passenger transport. I would like this complaint to be fully investigated. I also strongly recommend that this driver receives additional training in customer service, conflict management, equality, and professional conduct. I would appreciate confirmation that this complaint has been received, details of how it will be investigated, and what actions will be taken moving forward.
During our month-long holiday, we had taken a number of hop-on-hop-off bus tours, they have been a great way to see a town or city, particularly if we only had limited time. Bath bus wasn't the best one we've been on. Commentary was a little late, we ended up going through residential areas and driving up steep back roads to apparently see the city from higher up, pity the trees have grown so much, you can't actually see anything. That part was pointless, boring, and I felt uncomfortable being in a large bus going through residential areas that were not part of the main city.
Seen in all major cities, the Red Open Top buses are a must for my wife and I and great to get around quickly before deciding where to visit for more detail. Two routes operate in Bath, a city and a rural with one ticket doing both. The tickets are valid for 2 hours so you can opt to do both routes in one day or if you time things right, you have something to see on successive days. We decided to do both on the one day with the option of walking or using a service bus if we wanted to revisit any of the area which took our interest. The city route is an eye opener as the have to navigate streets that are not only narrow, but have cars parked in the most obstructive places – but the drivers are amazing. It’s almost worth the ticket price to see these folks in action. On one occasion, a head to head confrontation could have been in the offing between our bus and a huge Artic. The bus turned the corner into a narrow street with cars parked right up to the junction. The artic was halfway along and both vehicles had a string of cars behind them so reversing by either would have been a real nightmare. Driving professionals both, slowly edging a few inches each time, the pass was successful taking all of 10 minutes and at times the bodywork was so close, you would not have been able to get your hand between the vehicles. What a cheer went up when the bus could continue on its journey at proper speed. The City tour (red) takes in 16 stops including Grand Parade, Bath Spa, Queen Square, Royal Crescent, Botanic Gardens whilst the Rural (green) route visits North Parade, Great Pulteney St, Widcombe Hill, and a number of areas which grew up as Bath itself developed. The audio commentaries were excellent and extremely educational.
The tour was good but they never announced upcoming places to stop so we were often past the stop before we knew it was there. The signs for tre stops are very small and easy to miss. This was not the most user friendly Hop On Hop Off we have been on
There are two Hop on Hop off bus routes in Bath. Ticket price includes both routes. Upon entering the bus use the included headphones and listen to the recorded tour. Very informative. Both routes last approximately 50 minutes each. Staff are very friendly, you can get on and off anywhere on the route as many times as you wish.
Good way to get acquainted with the city and get the lay of the land, not to mention gather some historical perspective. I’d suggest doing this tour early in your visit to Bath so as to better understand where you want to invest time
Sunny day so decided to sit upstairs, Narrow streets with the only view, were houses exactly the same on each side of the road! Although the talk via headphones was excellent, explaining Bath through the ages, was interesting BUT not worth the ticket price !!
I booked this on trip advisor for my husbands birthday on April 11th but my iPad used facial recognition and automatically my Apple ID email which no longer exists.I received the booking confirmation but was unable to access the bar codes on email. The bus driver could not accept the confirmation only. I then cancelled the booking and requested a refund which I have not received or any communication from trip advisor. We then purchased the tickets on the bus. My advice is avoid Trip Advisor for tickets as the bus driver told us people also experience this problem because they can’t get a signal in Bath to download the barcodes from their email. A very expensive hop on hop off trip unless we get the first one refunded! Still hopeful.
Great experience to see all the sights. The weather was lovely so we sat upstairs all day. We managed to visit so many landmarks and museums in one day.
If you want a whistlestop tour of Bath, this definitely fits the bill. Optional commentary provided. 2 routes, one in the city itself and the other travelled up the hill to look down on the city.
5***** customer service today from one of the staff of the hop on hop off bus. My elderly mother an I had an hour free from our holiday tour, we saw the bus a thought it would be an ideal way to see bath, avoiding the hills. We hadn’t booked, but spoke to Steve who was waiting by the bus, he advised us off the two routes, and we decided upon the city route. Steve told us that we should pick the route up from another location, he could obviously tell from my expression that he could have been speaking a foreign language, as he offered to escort us to the right stop. He did just that, giving us lots of information on the way. Once at the bus he put my mother’s walker onto the bus, and showed us on. We had a lovely tour, making the full circuit. When we got off the bus, we found Steve waiting with walker already off the bus. He is a real asset.
One thing that is a giant pain in the neck is that you have to buy tickets individually if you want to split up at all. If you buy multiple adult tickets, they put it all on one slip, they won’t print individually.
