Bob in beautiful Bath. What a combo!! Can't say enough about Bob. Wife & I traveled all around UK for a month and his tour was a total highlight. He combines Bath experience/knowledge with the most important thing of all: Love for what he presents :). Humble, helpful, and kind. A true treasure. Reserve this tour early, so you get a spot before they're gone...... -Rob & Chris

Itinerary
Bob takes you through the heart of Georgian Bath and includes the Abbey Church Yard, Hot Springs, Old City Wall, Mineral Hospital, Queens Square, Roman Baths, Assembly Rooms, Circus, Royal Crescent, Gravel Walk, Pulteney Bridge, Guildhall and Market and much more.
The tour starts from the Abbey Churchyard in front of the iconic Abbey Church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul, commonly known as Bath Abbey, which is an Anglican parish church and a former Benedictine monastery. Founded in the 7th century, Bath Abbey was reorganised in the 10th century and rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries.
The Roman Baths are well-preserved thermae in the city of Bath, A temple was constructed on the site between 60-70AD in the first few decades of Roman Britain. According to the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, the original Roman baths were in ruins a century later. The area around the natural springs was redeveloped several times during the Early and Late Middle Ages.
Construction of this hospital began in 1737, which heralded a new period of faith and scientific belief in the healing properties of Bath's mineral waters.
Queen Square is a square of Georgian houses and is the first element in the architectural sequence in Bath, which includes the Circus and the Royal Crescent. All of the buildings which make up the square are Grade I listed.
During the Georgian era, Bath became fashionable, and the architect John Wood, the Elder, and his son laid out new areas of housing for residents and visitors. Assembly rooms had been built early in the 18th century, but a new venue for balls, concerts and gambling was envisaged in the area between Queen Square, The Circus and the Royal Crescent. The new or upper assembly rooms opened with a grand ball in 1771 and became the hub of fashionable society, being frequented by Jane Austen and Charles Dickens, along with the nobility of the time.
The Circus is a historic ring of large townhouses in the city of Bath, Somerset, England, forming a circle with three entrances. Designed by architect John Wood, the Elder, it was built between 1754 and 1768, and is regarded as a pre-eminent example of Georgian architecture. Each segment faces one of the three entrances, ensuring a classical façade is always presented straight ahead.
The Royal Crescent is a row of 30 terraced houses laid out in a sweeping crescent in the city of Bath, England. Also designed by the architect John Wood, the Younger and built between 1767 and 1774, it is among the greatest examples of Georgian architecture to be found in the United Kingdom and is a Grade I listed building.
Pulteney Bridge is a bridge over the River Avon. It was completed by 1774, and connected the city with the land of the Pulteney family which it wished to develop. Designed by Robert Adam in a Palladian style, it is highly unusual in that it has shops built across its full span on both sides.
The Guild Hall is an indoor market wander around and you will find some interesting stalls. The market is housed in a beautiful building. The market has been established since 1284.
At the end of the walk, we return to the Abbey Churchyard and spend as much time as you like discussing points of interest about Bath with your guide Bob.

The guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a comprehensive tour of Bath.
Bob was an incredible guide…. Knowledgeable witty and accommodating. I totally recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bath! Thank you very much from your group of 4 Saturday 17/10/26 xxxx
I have never been to Bath, the tour led me around city so I knew what was there. Learned a lot about the architecture in area. Saw the crews ant and the circus. Thank you.
Our guide, Bob, was incredibly knowledgeable about the architecture and history of Bath. He is a great story-teller. His recounting of historical events was so enlivening and animated, that I researched some of the historical persons after I left the tour. His sense of humor added so much to the tour. It was not the tour I expected (the normal tour of city sites) this was so much more. It made Bath come alive.
As a family of 6 we decided to take a trip with Bob. Well worth the tour. Bob is highly knowledgeable about Bath and takes you to areas that are both interesting and quirky. Thanks Bob and 10 out of 10 from us.
Bob is great! Very knowledgeable. We enjoyed the tour and would do it again. Hits all the major sites you would want to see!
I recently took the historical walking tour through the beautiful, ancient city of Bath, and it was the absolute highlight of my trip! Our guide was an older gentleman named Bob, but do not be fooled—he was incredibly light of foot and kept us moving at a brisk pace! Our tour group was much smaller than the large free city tour so we hit many sites! The two hours absolutely flew by thanks to his quick wit and feisty personality. He was incredibly knowledgeable and kept us fully engaged the entire time. I learned so much information about the history of this city. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough!
This tour was wonderful and Bob was such a lovely guide! He was full of historical details and knowledge. Our group was small at only 5 of us, but that made it even more special. We would definitely recommend doing this - especially with Bob!
Bob was a wonderful host in the town of Bath Spa. We learned so much about this incredible piece of history and culture.
Bob our guide was excellent. He was very knowledgeable about Bath and its history and he made it very interesting and had humour. We saw the main attractions.
This tour has been the highlight of our trip to Bath. Bob’s knowledge of not just the history of Bath, but history in general, is astounding. He spent as much time as was needed answering questions and waiting for us to take photos. The tour felt personal and we learned more about Bath doing this than we would ever have researching online. Highly recommended.
Bob was great. Very knowledgeable and with a great sense of humour. Covered a lot of great parts of the City in 2.5 hours.
Bob was an excellent, amusing and informative guide. Also he moved at a nice and accessible walking pace, suitable for slower walkers between locations.
This was such a great tour. Bob is extremely knowledgeable. He know only showed us Bath he explained the evolution of it over the centuries. There were only 5 people in our group making it a true personalized tour. Highly recommended!
We really enjoyed Bob and his funny personality, bits of history and deep knowledge of Bath. Was very informatuve!
Bob is a legend! Fascinating tour, he went above and beyond for us. You make 78 seem young ☺️
Bob was a very informative e guide. We had a wonderful time . Would definitely recommend
Bob's tour of Bath was fantastic! Bob is a born educator, and this was evident throughout the tour, as he seamlessly provided information about Bath and it's heritage that brought the city to life. We loved every second, and cannot recommend this tour highly enough! We would absolutely do another one of Bob's tours on our next visit - absolutely superb!
This was an excellent tour of Bath with Bob, during which we learned an enormous amount about Bath. We found it really interesting to understand more about how Bath developed over time and the tour was a nice pace as well. We were lucky to be the only ones with Bob during our tour so we could ask lots of questions. I would highly recommend Bob and this tour.
Bob is clearly very passionate about his hometown and has vast knowledge about it's history. He explained everything clearly and with humour.
Great tour! I ended up being the only person on the tour that day, but it was still a great experience. Bob had a lot of knowledge and funny antidotes. The time flew by!
Bob was fantastic. Very knowledgable. Gave us excellent insight in to the city of Bath.
Excellent walking tour - we are so glad we did this! It gave us a way to view Bath with completely fresh eyes!! We did it on day 2 of our trip so we had seen many of the buildings but had not noticed many of the details and our understanding was vastly enriched. If you are a Jane Austen fan, Bob is incredibly knowledgeable about her connection to Bath and her personal history. This is a great option for you!
You cover large area. Incline walk is at a slow pace. Bob did a great job giving the history and building details.
Our guide Bob was knowledgeable and a true historian who loves to share his love of Bath History. Easy walk and a nice pace. Very inclusive.
We really enjoyed our tour with Bob. He is very knowledgeable about the history and architecture of Bath but it's his delivery punctuated with humor and warmth that really elevated our experience. We highly recommend this tour with Bob!
We had a very very hot day and Bob still was energetic, informative, and inclusive. Learned so much about Bath in a short period of time, and felt welcomed as a solo traveler. The perfect way to kick off a visit!
He was professional, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and friendly. We were a group of 17 French seniors speaking English coming for a long week end. Bob kept the audience captivated for nearly 3 hours when our tour was already planed for 2 . He was patient enough to wait for the group to gather together and move from one place to the next to start talking . We managed to see all the beautiful historical buildings and Bob told us lots of details and anecdotes. I would highly recommend Bob
Bob is very knowledgeable, easy to hear, and has good jokes. He highlighted many areas of Bath that otherwise we wouldn’t have noticed.
Be prepared to walk and appreciate Georgian architecture and the baths--all from the exterior. Still very impressive.
Very interesting tour with Bob, who was very knowledgeable and friendly. Ideal for a one day visit. Bob was also very helpful with recommendations.
Bob led us on a very informative tour (4-14-26) that we greatly enjoyed. He is so knowledgeable and obviously loves sharing the unique history of Bath. We highly recommend doing this tour with Bob!
Jamie was fantastic. Got to know us by name and some personal info and remembered thus as we went round the tour. Very knowledgeable, full of fun and made the time really enjoyable. Definitely recommended
Bob was welcoming, fun, and knowledgeable about Georgian Bath - a great tour
A truly delightful experience with our guide, Bob. Bob is super knowledgeable about many things, especially the history and development of modern day Bath. Fantastic descriptions of the most important architects of Bath and famous Bath residents.
Bob was amazing and so full of knowledge. He insipred the group to ask many questions and he had answers to all of them which I found incredible. He kept us all very interested. We discussed subjects from the history, to the architecture to the past folks who made Bath what it is and obscure topice such as all the chimmneys in Bath. Thank u Bob you are a very interesting person and a great Bath guide. Regan & Mark from New York
Bob our guide was really great, he had a deep historical knowledge to help place what we were seeing in context and a very thorough knowledge of Georgian architecture, plus a lovely sense of humour.
My niece was visiting & keen to see the stunning Georgian architecture and learn about the history of the city. Bob did not disappoint, he's such a nice guy who is really knowledgeable (in a down-to earth way) & because he loves history and has such an engaging personality, he held us both spellbound as he recounted so many fun and interesting facts not only about the buildings and their construction & the origins of the city, but the real characters who were the founding fathers of many industries that were established first in Bath back in Georgian times (including the origins of the postal service - twice daily delivery too), it was not just about families like the Bridgerton's attending social events while their investments increased, although the families of those at that time were also explored. The tour continued for at least another half an hour after the two hours we had paid for because the whole group wanted it to continue. Bob's heart was genuinely engaged in wanting to provide the insight and information we and the others asked for and he completely delivered with bells on! Thanks so much Bob & apologies for taking so long to write this review.
Fantastic walking tour with the lovely Bob. What he doesnt know about Bath isnt worth knowing :) great pace, small group
Great tour. Bob was so knowledgeable and really informative. Answered all our questions and showed us parts of Bath I had never seen before.
Excellent tour, very entertaining and informative
Bob is what every tour guide should aspire to. Really, he's just perfection. The 2.5 hours flew by. We feel like we understand Bath so much better now because of Bob's knowledge and passion.
Bob is a knowledgeable, fun, and engaging guide who brings the history of his homeland to life. His passion for his roots is contagious, and he shares it with a clarity and enthusiasm that make every moment memorable. I truly cannot recommend him highly enough.
Meeting point was exactly where the photograph was taken . Bob was our guide and he was fantastic - his knowledge was better than Google! The Georgian city of Bath is wonderful to see and very interesting to hear about 10/10
Bob ,the guide, is a gem! He knows Bath inside out from his previous career as a local taximan and tour bus guide. He is still fascinated by the history and architecture and he gets this over in a witty and light style that had all our group entranced for the 2 hours. We didn’t even notice the rain!
What Bob doesn't know about the history of Bath isn't worth knowing. To say it's encyclopedic would be an understatement. Easy humour and an obvious love of the city means you'll be getting a top tour to deepen your understanding of what Georgian Bath was all about. Highly recommend.
Our walking tour of Bath with Bob was great ! He’s very informative and gives the right amount of information! Highly recommended!!
It was a great experience. Bob enlightened us about all the history of Bath. He didn't over expain or under explain, just the right amount of information to get it enjoyable.
