James was a fantastic tour guide! He tailored the experience to the insanely hot day and mobility needs of our party. We never felt rushed at a pub or historical site and he gave the perfect amount of information for things to be interesting but not boring. James is full of knowledge and delivers it perfectly! Highly recommend this tour!
If you're like me and knew next to nothing about Bath upon arrival, this is a fantastic tour option that isn't as booked as others. James was a very knowledgeable guide and took our small posse all town, witnessing all of it's historic importance and regaling us with tales of yore. And of course, stopping at some fantastic local pubs and bars in between was quite the highlight as well! If you enjoy a well made cask ale and plenty of stories to go with it, this tour gives you a proper taste of what Bath is really about.
James is an excellent guide who took us around the city and whilst doing so told us about the history of the city along with the architecture that is so unique to Bath. He asked us at the start of the tour of our interests and expertly tailored the day to ensure that we were happy. We stopped off in a few local bars on route and sampled some lovely local beers and a cider (as it was a very hot day). He has a great sense of humour and we loved our time with him. If you want to have a fun time finding out about the city of Bath, this tour comes highly recommended.
Excellent tour. James was personable, friendly, and keen to understand our expectations and tailor the time spent to ensure my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the excursion through the city center. We took his tour on the first day of our 3 day visit to Bath which was a great way to get oriented. Not only did James educate us on the history of Bath, but he also gave us insight into present-day dynamics of the city including recommendations for dining and cultural events during our stay. It was an immersive 3 hour experience that included stops along the way to sample local brews and cider. Very glad we chose this tour. Time well spent.
Fantastic 3 hours walking through Bath, very friendly Guide, What more could you want history, a few beers and a sprinkling of Bridgerton.
James lead a fun and very informative tour. He pointed out sights we would’ve miss and was great with local history. Wonderful beer & cider too! Highly recommended,
Very informative tour, knowledgeable guide.
This tour was great. We visited really nice places around the city with a lot of historical context from our guide James, Drank great beer and cider from cool pubs, Took nice photos during the tour. James is a great guide, we enjoyed it very much. I recommend it 100%. Also, we did it at 1pm so after that we had time to meet the Roman Baths.
We had an amazing time on this tour with James! He was a very engaging guide who made the history of Bath incredibly interesting and easy to follow. The tour included stops at three different pubs, where James selected a great variety of local beers and ciders for us to try. It was a perfect way to experience the local atmosphere while learning about the city. Walking all over Bath at the start of our vacation was a brilliant move. It really helped us get our bearings and learn the layout of the city, which made navigating on our own over the next few days so much easier. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting for the first time!
My wife and I were the only two to take the tour on a cold and wet day. James turned up full of beans and full of Bath knowledge. He was a very personable person with obviously a passion for Bath. We visited places that a lone tourist would not visit and we learnt so much about Georgian architecture. In between the history of Bath’s architecture we visited quant historic public houses that served excellent beers and cider. I can not recommend James’s tour enough. It was without a doubt the highlight of our trip to Bath. Thank you James.
James is a gifted story teller of the history of Bath! He took us to three pubs on the tour that had great beer and cider. We highly recommend this tour with James!
Highly recommend this tour with James. Really interesting, he was very knowledgeable but also personable. Lovely idea to stop at pubs on the way. He was engaging and interested and the 3 hours flew by. It was a great insight into the history of Bath and we both really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend you book this tour when staying in Bath 🙌👌
James was an excellent guide, an authoritative source of information and a heck of a dry wit! We really enjoyed this tour, it spanned everything that we wanted to know about Bath and you get to see things that the tour buses won't have a chance to show you. The pub stops perfectly punctuate the walking tour. Bath is a gem of a place to visit and this tour is highly recommended. Just for the curious, it does not include a tour into the Roman baths, that would be separate tour that you would have to arrange, but this tour does start right in front of it (at the Abbey).
Fantastic tour, James is an excellent guide and flexible with tailoring the tour to out interests with a blend of old and recent history, the best way to see Bath hands down.
Charming and knowledgeable host. We had a great time and learned a lot about the History of Bath - and had some lovely local drinks.
Very informative tour with a small group. It was like a private version of the highly recommended city walking tour, but with frequent stops for beer. We learned so much about Bath's history and loved all our our guide's recommendations.
What a wonderful walking tour. My son and I were part of a small group. James made a point of getting to know us personally as we walked. He is so knowledgeable and interesting, knows everything about the history of Bath and kept us all engrossed for the full 3 hours, which passed by so quickly. We found out about places like The Crescent and The Circus which we might not have even seen otherwise. We enjoyed the 3 small beers too in quaint historic pubs. We have done walking tours all round Europe including Berlin, Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Munich, Porto even Canterbury and Stratford Upon Avon and James’s walking tour is up there amongst the best
We had a GREAT time with James on our tour! Not only was it a beautiful tour through the city, we got history, humor, architecture, and a look into the city’s journey that brought it into the present. Plus pub visits with great local beer and cider! Highly recommend James and this excursion!
Fantastic historical tour with James. Loads of details, full of interesting facts. Really personable. Highly recommend.
My wife and I had a great time with James. He was excellent very knowledgeable and tailored the experience for us. Would highly recommend.
My mum and I went on the tour with James - he was fantastic! James had plenty of knowledge about Bath, from the historical sights to giving us great recommendations on where to eat/drink. Having the pub stops was great to chat to the others on the tour (only four of us all together!) and learn more about the history in a closer environment. Also having such a small group made it super easy to hear and ask more questions. Highly recommend!
James was an awesome tour guide. It was our first time in Bath, and we had limited knowledge of the city before taking this tour. We had no idea Bath had such a rich history!! James went at a good pace, answered all of our questions, and also gave recommendations for other things to do and see in Bath. This tour hit highlights such as the Abbey, outside the Roman Baths, the Circus, the Royal Crescent, and more. James was very descriptive of important historical people and the culture that shaped Bath's history. The 3 pubs we went to were great as well, and we got to sample delicious local ales and ciders. If you want an all-inclusive tour of Bath, I would definitely book this tour!
James was a great guide--very knowledgeable and always interested in our questions. We learned a lot about Bath's history through the ages and enjoyed three half-pints as well in very atmospheric pubs. He was a pleasure to spend a couple of hours with.
James is very knowledgeable, provided us with really interesting tour which you can’t get from guide books alone. The pub stops were also very welcoming and made the tour a unique experience. I would definitely highly recommend
My friend and I really enjoyed this recent tour of Bath and a few of its quirky pubs. Our guide, James knows the city well and pointed out lots of interesting sights and told lots of stories with his very dry British sense of humour and also bought the beers - we could have happily stayed on chatting and drinking in some of the pubs for much longer!
This was a great tour, really informative and great to go with a local, I realised there is so much I didn’t know about Bath. James is really helpful, funny and attentive to all our needs. Of course the frothy beers were lovely too!
This was the best experience! James was so knowledgeable on the history of Bath and showed us sights we would have never found on our own. He was very generous with his time and knowledge!
Excellent tour . James was great he asks if there is anything you are particularly interested in a will tailor the tour for you . The tour was interesting, funny and the 3 hours flew by . It was an added bonus to stop off and try the local beer and continue chatting about the area . Highly recommend.
Great tour ! James made the tour interesting and funny and he will tailor it to what you are interested in seeing and learning about . We saw parts of Bath we would not have visited if we had not done this . It was also great to stop off try a local drink and continue to chat about the area .The 3 hours flew by ! Highly recommended.
I recently organised for a corporate group to have a tour of Bath with James. When organising the tour, James was really helpful, approachable, responsive and happy to tailor the tour to our needs. The group all came back from the tour and had a great time from an interesting guide and learning about a beautiful city!
Our guide James could not have been more knowledgeable and entertaining. Lots of energy with well timed respites. It was one of my enjoyable walking tours. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Bath.
This is a "must do" tour if you are traveling to Bath. James is so knowledgeable about the history of Bath and shared so many interesting, and often funny, stories. Honestly, this was a highlight of our stay in Bath.
This tour was awesome. James was very knowledgeable but most importantly he made the tour fun. We enjoyed 3 half pints of beer at cool pubs and chatted about Bath while we sipped. This was a great tour. Book it!
We had a really great afternoon touring Bath with James. It wasn’t one of your typical dry historical tours in all senses of the word! I’ve visited Bath several times previously but still learned a lot about the place and really gained a insight into how people lived here over the centuries. James was very entertaining and knowledgeable, having lived here for some time. He picked some good pubs and we visited all the main historical/architectural sites of interest.Don’t worry you can drink coffee or tea and the atmosphere is relaxed.
We found our walking tour with James informative, engaging and super interesting! James asked us what we’d like to see and hear about at the start of the tour so we could really make the most of our time. Also fun to have a half at a few local pubs along the way! Highly recommend.
Informative and engaging. Our tour seemed expansive and guide covered everything we were or might have been interested in, the baths, Jane Austen, architecture, and Nicholas Cage.
Excellent guide, very knowledgeable and engaging. Provided good rhythm and fun factoids, touring a variety of aesthetically interesting parts of Bath.
I love all things historic, especially architecture, and James and the city of Bath did not disappoint! He was a great guide - very relatable, engaging, fun, and knowledgeable. His stops were well-timed, good breaks to grab a coffee, etc., which made it an easy few hours (they flew by!). His tour is informative and enjoyable, the perfect amount of detail that doesn’t overwhelm but gives you enough to feel like you have a handle on the city’s history. I highly recommend taking a tour with him!
A fun-filled and very interesting walking tour. James has really done his research and themes his tour with a great blend of history, architecture, gossip and humour. We took the tour as a group of five girlfriends which worked really well - but the format would equally suit either a couple or a large group.
We absolutely loved this tour around Bath. The guide was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions very well. The beers he chose in the pubs were delicious - it's a great idea to have some pub stops along the way. Highly recommend this tour to any locals and tourists! Very fun, relaxed and informative.
