We had a party of 12 booked in for Sunday lunch so just used the restaurant facilities, which were excellent. The main person looking after us was Ashley and he with all the others were absolutely brilliant. We had pre booked our meals but when they realised one of our party had only booked I believe veg because she was gluten intolerant they immediately assured her they had plenty of gluten free meals to choose from and ended up with a far nicer meal than just veg. The food was delicious and some of us even managed to have room for pudding which was just the right amount. Service excellent and food excellent. We will be back

A wonderful pie, veg and chips with the most delicious gravy! The weather has just turned so a little cold where we sat however there’s an open fire which I can see would make it comfortable in the winter. The tall blonde lady who served us was super friendly and welcoming and good fun! We were given a very generous offer on payment a birthday discount and by downloading the app a further 25% so amazing value.
We popped in for lunch and the food was incredible! Instantly felt at home walking in, the service was attentive and attention to detail was clearly kept. I had the heritage salad which was one of the best salads I've ever had, my partner had the fish and chips which were cooked to perfection - soft, crispy, without being too oily - compliments to the chef. We overheard a few guests at the bar who were clearly delighted with their stays. We will definitely be back again!
We stayed at the George during our wedding in Farley last year and decided to have a family meal on our one year anniversary. The food menu is still great. Often in a menu, half isn't appealing but here, every choice is delicious. I had the lamb burger and it was the best burger I've ever had. Also Ashley made our dinner so special he was knowledgable, professional but so polite and friendly,. We also noticed him cleaning and setting tables he is a real assets and ai hard working and made out evening so special. I hope he is appreciate by management as he was great.
This historic coaching inn is excellent! & offers super food; also boasting a lovely garden area with beautiful views, & the whole building is steeped in history! A real must visit if in the area. The service from Tasmin was great, she was fairly new in the role, but her care, & attentive manor was excellent, - Thank You! The food was really good, with a varied menu, which caters for all dietary needs, it is reasonably priced & much better than standard 'pub grub'! The homemade bread with whipped beef dripping butter was sublime, & my Chicken Supreme was delicious! cooked to perfection, moist, with a lovely crispy skin & the Duck Fat potato was great! Other standout dishes included Flat Iron steak, again cooked to perfection & our shared, Creme Brulé was decadent. We also shared the Bitter Cheesecake, which was good, but the deconstructed style was not what I was expecting & I felt it could have been better. The history of the Inn is fascinating, & the quirky layout is very interesting. It is great to see Butcombe taking over such historic places & ensuring they are loved, & historically restored.
