Fantastic hotel! I stayed with my daughter for two nights. The hotel is in the perfect location in Tetbury. A co-op over the road for essentials. Very close to shops pubs and restaurants and a bus stop on the door step if you don't have a car. The hotel is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hot breakfast was perfectly cooked to order and the buffet tasty and plentiful. The staff make this hotel as special as it is. Each and every staff member was helpful, kind and friendly. A special shoutout to Benjamin who went above and beyond to look after us, making sure we were warm and comfortable by replenishing the logs on the fire in the restaurant. His attentiveness and thoughtfulness really makes a difference, nothing was too much trouble and his warm friendly manner makes his guests fell very welcome! Excellent service from all at a great hotel!

I loved my stay here, lovely staff, lovely quiet and clean hotel, spacious rooms, amazing food and drink and perfect location. A special thank you to Benjamin who was very attentive and welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay. Thank you!!
We dined at the wonderful Close Hotel as we couldn’t eat at the Italian restaurant we’d booked (the music was blasting out loud and wasn’t conducive to an evening meal. We politely told them we had to leave and why). Anyway…… we wanted somewhere special for our anniversary and came past this hotel. From the moment we stepped in, it was calming and with beautiful decor. The friendly greeting as we entered the bar, and the lovely welcome from the Maitre D helped us forget our earlier disappointment. Also the music could be heard but was at a low and comfortable volume. She helped with queries about the dishes and despite the restaurant being busy, checked all was OK. The food was absolutely delicious from the starter (prawns) to cheeseboard and service was exceptional. We were reminded of the optional service charge (unlike The Snooty Fox where we gave a tip and then saw the charge on the bill!). Anyway, Close Hotel has shown us that hospitality is well and truly available if you choose the right place. I wished we were staying there too. I would highly recommend and couldn’t fault it. The maitre d has such a lovely personality and deserves a mention here.
Lovely quaint English hotel built in the 1500’s I believe. We had a fantastic meal in the restaurant and a delicious breakfast the morning after. Our double room was very clean, comfortable and well maintained. Loved the garden where we enjoyed a nice drink pre dinner. The staff were fantastic and we’d definitely stay again.
The Close is a luxury hotel in the centre of Tetbury. It has a magnificent garden and the rooms are well appointed and spacious. We stayed in the Dove room and had a large amount of space, with two winged back chairs in a seating area, and a nice dressing table area. The bathroom was large and contained a claw footed tub and a stand alone shower. The little touches made this special - a bottle of milk to make fresh tea or coffee. Little treats to accompany your tea. Great products in the bathroom. A bookmark beside the bed. The restaurant served a fabulous breakfast, and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinners there as well. Food was a good standard. On our last night we had a two person fish and chips special, with a bottle of wine for £45 (a great deal). Overall this was charming and very enjoyable. The quirks of an old mansion were quaint (like a hot water tap which had pipes which sounded like a monster regurgitating a hairball before they ran silently), the floors are not level in the corridors and the stairs creak. This is the quintessential charm of maintaining a centuries old building, and is delightful as it is atmospheric and so much more characterful than the stark perfection of new construction. We loved our stay at The Close, and would highly recommend it.
