This hotel is quite easy walking distance into the main "old" part of town ... Bath Abbey, Roman Baths, River Avon, multiple churches, tons of restaurants. We loved our spacious room with a gorgeous high ceiling and updated bathroom. It felt like pure luxury after our cramped stay in London. We chose to enjoy their breakfast after an early morning walk down the river and around the Royal Victoria Gardens. There is an additional upcharge for the breakfast; but it was heaty and delicious with multiple options on the menu. There's a lovely little garden where you can sit out in the evening. It's in an old estate house, so there is no A/C -- which meant it was quite hot when we were there. But they provided a fan, and the windows opened so we could bring in some cooler air once the sun went down. It felt clear that the staff wanted to make our stay quite nice.

Anita and the team were so friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The hotel is in a lovely quiet location just outside of the city centre but only a short walk away. There are lovely views across the recreation grounds and over the beautiful hotel gardens, if you have a garden facing room. The rooms are spacious and are beautifully and individually decorated to give a different feel and style to each room. The cooked breakfast was delicious and again the service was excellent giving a welcoming and homely feel. Parking is available at the hotel at a reasonable cost per night. There was space for us to park in the car park but otherwise you are provided with a permit to park on the road. The car park is a little tight but you just need to take your time.
Great location to walk into the city lovely garden which is a real sun trap. Unfortunately being someone who visits hotels regularly there were a few things they could have worked on but at the end of the stay they didn't ask! Ask your customers for feedback then you'll know what to work on. The bedroom was lovely not the most comfortable bed I've slept in but it was ok. Lovely shower room with walk in shower. But breakfast could have been handled much better. We ordered hot food but there were items missing. When we asked for the other items the blonde lady actually sighed at us! Said she'd check the order then brought out the remaining food without so much as a sorry. Second day they had run out of sausages! They asked us what bread we wanted for toast but it never arrived and I couldn't be bothered to ask due to the attitude we would probably have got. When you get to the room they leave a little note saying their home is our home but it certainly didn't feel like it to us. Try harder and it could be lovely but not with grumpy staff.
The original room we were given was not awful but was below ground level so lacked natural light and also the mirror had lots of marks on (not too sure what it was but wouldn’t come off when wiped). This wasn’t something we were overly bothered about however ants started coming out of the mirror lamp and crawling all over the mirror therefore we decided to approach reception. The young girl on reception was great, super lovely, and managed to upgrade us to a different room which had a view of the garden. This room was nicer and it felt much cleaner as opposed to the first. There was still the odd thing that could be done with being updated, for example the blind string was broken meaning we had to stand on the chair and roll the blinds back up ourselves. Other than that, the room was spacious and the garden view was very nice. The shower was great, beds comfy, and we didn’t get any noise from the roads. It is a quick 10 minute walk to where everything is located, approximately 15 minute walk from the train station. I would probably avoid the first room (unsure of the name but it was blue decor) if staying, however the second room (Zen) made the stay enjoyable.
We had a lovely overnight stay. The suit was spacious, comfy and clean. The breakfast was delicious. But the highlight of the stay was just how welcoming the staff were. They really made us feel at home. And although it's the managers job to make sure everything is well But Bianca felt more like a friend to us. I can totally recommend The Ayrlington to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in Bath.
