I feel terribly let down by the hotel, and the experience I had here this weekend - and I think it's important other guests are aware of these things. Certainly not a four-star hotel. Overall, for the price, I was SEVERELY dissapointed. To summarise, this is a hotel that clearly has a management/ownership that, instead of trying to 'wow' customers, are clearly on a cost cutting exercise. I have broken down the issues below: Breakfast One of my biggest complaints is the breakfast situation. I paid about £262 for ONE night, with Bed and Breakfast. However, breakfast only includes a SIMPLE continental (think, a couple of cereals, a couple of buffet bits etc), and simple egg dishes. Want pancakes? That's an extra £3. Want a full english? That's an extra £10. For the price I paid, I would expect basic breakfast options to be offered. Plus, the positioning of the continental buffet is a health and safety issue. Health and Safety Speaking of health and safety, not only did I note a fire door being propped open in the kitchen all night, but also, staff members seemed to not have a 11 hour gap between shifts. Communication Team members need to talk to each other more. After booking, I received about 7-10 messages asking me to book a table in their restaurant. I did, and yet I still kept getting messaes. Upon check in, the receptionist then asked me, AGAIN, if I wanted to book a table! Guys, just talk to one another - it's not hard. Further to this, despite us paying for our meal in the restaurant, the hotel tried to charge us for SOMEONE ELSE's meal! Fortunately, I had kept my receipt from the night before, but if I hadn't I would have had to pay a further £86! The Room The room was tired, with cracks painted over, and needs a refurb. Plus, the walls appear to be made out of paper. Dining The food was AMAZING! But again, for the price, I expected a little more from the experience. The Spa The spa is the best part of the hotel. Amazing massage, and great facilities. Weddings This is a wedding venue, and when we arrived, there was a large wedding on, which made it hard to manouvere through the foyer, but was also VERY LOUD! We could hear the party going on from our bedroom. If I had known a wedding was on, I wouldn't have booked for that date. Cost Cutting Again, there is strong evidence of the owners/management trying to save as many pennies as possible. Sure, I get it - hospitality is tough right now, but surely it is better to make fans out of your customers, and to get them to come back, and to recommend you to others, as opposed to trying to save £X here and there. For £262 a night, I would have expected: - better biscuit offerings in the room - more cheese options on the menu - The fridge to be turned on in the room - Cracks in the wall not to be painted over - Not having to pay additional for breakfast options - More continental breakfast offerings Overall The owners need to read 'Unreasonable Hospitality' - stop cutting costs, and focus more on delivering the best possible experience so customers are more likely to come back!

I stayed for 2 nights in an executive double room before & after my wedding & it was such a beautiful room & absolutely immaculate! When I arrived to the room, the staff had left me a lovely card wishing me well for my wedding which was such a lovely touch. All of the staff were extremely polite and accommodating, offering their support at all times. The food in the restaurant was of such a high standard both for evening dinner & breakfast. The spa is just the perfect addition to a wonderful stay, I took advantage of it both days as 3 hours per day, per guest was included in my room & it was gorgeous! Wish my stay could have been longer, it was such a quiet, relaxing stay.
Rooms are ok. The hotel is not air conditioned and although a fan had been provided there was nowhere convenient to plug it in. There were only plug points on one side of one of the beds in a twin room. The food was quite good and the spa was lovely. It is situated out on its own however so choices for dinner involved eating at the hotel, eating early or forgoing the use of the spa facilities.
This is a beautiful old manor house hotel in a nice location. We had a small double room, which was attractively decorated, immaculate, and well equipped. Unfortunately, we were there on two of the hottest nights of the year, and the lack of air conditioning and pathetically inadequate little fan made for a very uncomfortable stay. The restaurant, although apparently award winning, served food which was week presented, but sadly lacking in spicing or seasoning. We're did not use the spa facilities. All of the staff whom we encountered were extremely pleasant and helpful. Overall, a mixed experience
Visited here for afternoon tea. The hotel itself was lovely, beautifully decorated, and the service was nice and attentive. We started with a big pot of tea, which was good, and the food arrived quickly and was presented beautifully. Unfortunately, though, the food itself didn’t live up to expectations, especially for £27pp. The scones were very small, with only one per person - whereas at most afternoon teas you’d either get two each or a much larger one, and sadly, there was a hair on one of them. They also didn’t taste very fresh. The cakes were tiny, and two out of the four tasted stale and were disappointing. We were also served a sausage roll, but it was really small and cut in half, and for the price I do think a whole one each would have been better. The sandwiches were fine, but it would have been nice to have a little more variety, as there were only two sandwich fillings and all on white bread only - adding something like egg mayonnaise, hummus, or roasted vegetables would have been good (we’d ordered veggie ones). Overall, I can’t fault the setting or the staff, but unfortunately the food didn’t justify the price for me, and it’s not somewhere I’d return to for afternoon tea.
