Could’ve have asked for a more memorable and informative experience. My friend and I ended up being the only ones on the tour, which is something we enjoyed as we got to know our guide, Diego, so well. This was definitely one of our favorite parts of our trip.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. He made the history very interesting. We enjoyed our visit to the museum and cathedral.
We had a great time with Diego on this tour - he was very knowledgeable and friendly! He even went the extra mile to help us find a Nahuel Huapi boat tour for our remaining day in Bariloche.
Diego was an amazing guide. I appreciated the knowledge and insights he shared regarding the Mapuche, Tehuelche, and canoe tribes. The visit to the Catholic Church to view the Station of the Cross sculptures was truly fascinating and really brought all of the information presented during the tour into focus.
We took two tours with Diego. Both were hands down the best tours we have ever had. He makes the content come alive, provides enough of a deep dive to satisfy your inner nerd, and is incredibly personable. My wife and I both said “it’s like listening to your favorite podcast, but in a tour”. If you come to Bariloche do yourself a favor and book time with Diego!
Diego has created some really amazing tours of Bariloche that are extremely different than the others being offered. His research regarding the Indigenous Peoples of Patagonia is fair and non-biased, and the tour is filled with information but doesn't come off as dry. He showed us things in the Cathedral that I never would have noticed without him, and we also had a great visit to the Patagonia Museum ($1 fee for a ticket that I can use for my entire trip). It was an eye-opening learning experience! Also, for anyone with mobility issues or for seniors, this tour only had a very small amount of walking.
Excellent information provided, guide with lots of knowledge, friendly and entertaining. Great driver too. Taking beautiful memory of Bariloche. thank you.
I learned so much about Bariloche and its history. Diana was a brilliant guide and I would have loved to have spent more time with her talking about the area’s past and present.
Diego was a fabulous guide. Incredibly knowledgeable and presented all information with a well balanced impartial approach.
Diego was a great and informative guide. He gave lots of information on the history of the various indigenous groups of the area and how they were affected by colonization and the Christian church. The walkthrough of the cathedral was 100% better due to his commentary.
The history and politics of Patagonia's indigenous peoples is long and complicated. Diego's tour is very well researched and presented introduction to this subject. He provides a thoughtful overview of "peopling' of Patagonia first and foremost. Diego covers a lot of history from the Spanish conquest to the desert campaigns to modern society. It makes you think even if you are not prepared to face the subjects of colonization, institutionalized oppression, genocide, injustices and more. A must attend tour when visiting Nahuel Haupi. Enriching experience.
Good, much needed history tour of all the indigenous peoples of the area. You get to go into the nearby museum and also visit a local Mapuche textile shop. Plus it's a good walk around the town.
Diego is an exceptional tour guide. He gave us an excellent tour in Bariloche learning about the Patagonia Indigenous Peoples. He explained everthing very well and provided super background materials and explanations. This was one of the best tours we have taken abroad. i would highly recommend his tour. We did a private tour and it was well worth the money!!
I'm really satisfied with going to the tour about Natives in Bariloche. The topic of indigenous people is fascinating in itself and Diego definitely made it worthwile. He was extremely patient with all my questions and has shown genuine care for the subject matter and the quality of the experience. Despite the cold rainy weather he powered through and adjusted accordingly. A guide that shows care and attention to detail to a topic that's increasingly important to humanity's cultural heritage. Recommended!
The tour was very educational. It provided specific insights into local tribal interaction with modern Argentina. I would highly recommend it for anyone interested in this topic. It was also a great walking tour of downtown.
The guide Diana is great, attentive and familiar with the history of Patagonia. Very nice walk! In addition to the wonderful landscape, I learned about the formation of the city of Bariloche!
Our guide Diana in addition to kind and friendly demonstrated total knowledge about the history of her place. He asked that we understood everything despite the language barriers, which was not his obligation since we knew that the guide was not in Portuguese. Very kind and extremely competent. I recommend a thousand times
The guide was very engaged in the subject, and had a lot of knowledge and could explain it very well. The review of the various tribes of indigenous peoples and their living conditions gave us great understanding. The attitude of the Spaniards and later Argentines toward the natives was also reviewed in a very understandable way. The problems with getting the government to live up to the promises that the same government has made to the tribes may have contributed to some of the violent situations that have arisen. The visit to the cathedral was also very interesting, as were the stories of the “twin temples”! In the museum there is very bad air! We had shortness of breath, and our guide fainted. We were visiting the next day as the ticket, after it is purchased is valid for a whole week ... The indoor climate was still bad, and I charged it with the ticket controller; he said he would probably go up and open a window. We could not find that there was any kind of mechanical ventilation in entire buildings ... Overall, it was a very educational visit.
Beautiful and different experience to live in Bariloche. It is a dynamic, entertaining and enriching way to learn about the native peoples and the history of the city and our country. The visit to the Cathedral is incredible, sure if you were there, you didn’t get half the hidden messages that Diego teaches us to discover. Separate paragraph for Diego: guide "from those before", the craft and love for what he does at each moment is perceived. THANK YOU for such a beautiful experience
Highly recommended the Tour is very worthwhile. He went to a very good Service. With also visit to the Museum
