Awesome day. Best day of rhe holiday so far. The staff were all brilliant and really helpful. I've never been on a horse in my life but it was so easy for beginners and trekking through the amazing scenery was a real joy. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Itinerary
After hotel pickup, travel by air-conditioned coach for about an hour east of Bariloche and head to Puesto La Fragua de Estancia San Ramon (San Ramón Ranch). One of the oldest working ranches in the area, San Ramón Ranch spans 62,000 acres (25,000 hectares) into the foothills of the Argentine Andes.
Follow your guide to an old countryside school converted to the ranch’s eating area. Inside the former school, ranch staff welcome you with a light breakfast. Next, you'll learn some horseback riding techniques from your expert guide who leads the way on a 2-hour journey into the Andes foothills. This riding is for begginers and experts. Pass a picturesque lake and ride through transition forests before reaching the Patagonian steppe. Keep your eyes peeled for autochthonous animals. After your ride, return to the ranch and dig into a 3-course lunch (a first course, a main course and a dessert) featuring Argentine asado. The feast of traditional barbecued meats comes with an open bar of wine, soft drinks and mineral water. Finishing this, enjoy transport back to your Bariloche hotel. If you select the afternoon tour, you will start off with lunch, then the horseback ride, and end with snacks. *Please note: If you have dietary restrictions, please note these when you book the tour.

Horseback riding in Patagonia must be done!! Feel the weather on the back of a horse while learning about the lifestyle and culture by speaking with our wonderful guide, Jesus! Lunch was amazing!! Traditional Patagonia barbecue with the best chimichurri that we had in all of Argentina!
We really enjoyed the excursion and the general atmosphere at the ranch. My girlfriend had horse riding experience while i didnt but it was easy to get by. The horses were very very well trained and chill and the gauchos that came with us during the excursion were kind and spoke decent english. Considering the whole package (shuttle bus, intro and explanation, horses, asado, location) i found it very good value for money.
Super unprofessional booked it and was cancelled on with ZERO reason via what’s app the day before the ride. Had no time to rebook was the number one activity I wanted to do. Still a week later no refund on 400 dollars. Super disappointed would NOT recommend
Awesome excursion, well structured, horses are beautiful, guides are fun and patient! Asado was great!! And we were received with a fun light breakfast before going!
Great trip a little dusty having a bandana may be a Benoit for the trip, great guides. The lunch was fantastic.
Everything was included, small breakfast, 2 h horse riding (a bit slow that fit all levels) with nice views. After riding a big lunch with wine and bbq. Very beautiful ecpietance. They don't do photos for you so either ask the travel friends to take photos and share later or take yourself
Highly recommend this tour for the organization, comfortable bus, horses, the ride was terrific and the excellent food.
I was unable to go on this experience as the company cancelled less than 24 hours prior to the journey and they will not refund my money. I wish that I had read other reviews about this company, as this is a total scam.
Fabulous setting, wonderfully friendly and helpful gauchos, spectacular BBQ and the host Nico is very good at explaining and making sure safety comes first.
We took our family of 5 on a 1/2 day tour + lunch and had a great time. The horses were pretty mellow, the scenery at the ranch was beautiful, and the lunch and snacks were tasty and authentic. Strongly recommend this outing.!
The horses are very tame and used to tourists, so the riding is fit for everyone. The guides were very friendly, knowledgeable and nice, specially Jesús. The included breakfast and lunch were very tasty. Wish that the guides had sat with us for lunch!
Very good time! The staff is very nice. The food was delicious. Best steak and chorizo we have had in Argentina.
For a novice rider, the ranchers/guides gave simple and easy to follow instructions. They paired the horses with each individual by their experience, size and weight. The horse is so tame and gentle at the same time. I was relaxed during my first horseback riding session to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The Patagonia steppe was breathtaking and the 2hrs ride passed before we realized it’s over. Then it came the enormous amount of food for lunch. The meat was perfectly grilled and the wine was delirious. I walked away with tremendous appreciation for the beautiful natural landscape and the well cared for animals as they get to roam free after a job well done.
Great trip and ride along amazing scenery in the mountains. The Gauchos were great and told us lots of information about the Ranch and surrounding area. Thanks for a great day!
Lovely ride with beautiful scenery on very quiet horses. Beautiful ranch setting. Relaxing atmosphere.
Great for solo travelers! Horses were well taken care of and very calm. Asado was perfect and everyone left with full stomachs! Would go again! Thank you :)
This was such a nice excursion. A beautiful ride, followed by a generous and tasty bbq. They have horses for every level, so every rider is satisfied.
We had a lovely time on the horseback riding tour just outside of Bariloche! The slow trail ride was a relaxing way to take in the beautiful scenery, and it was followed by a delicious asado that made the experience even more enjoyable. The 45-minute drive from Bariloche was well worth it, and the entire team was incredibly kind and welcoming, making sure we felt comfortable throughout the day. It’s a great outing for anyone looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the area at a laid-back pace!
The ranch staff are very well organised and know exactly how to deliver a good experience. Very informative talk before we went riding. Nice tame horses which do what they are supposed to do. Nice easy rider with beautiful views over amazing scenery. Topped off by an amazing BBQ with as much meat as you could possibly want. Really enjoyable.
Absolutely incredible and unforgettable experience. I don’t typically leave reviews but the attention that this family puts into ensuring you have a good experience needs to be recognized. It started with a small breakfast and intro to the history of Mate to help us relax and unwind before meeting the horses. We then promptly were matched with our horse and enjoyed a 2 hour journey in the mountains - not only were the views stunning, but they guided us so well and even when I felt nervous with my horse, they were really good at staying calm and letting me know everything is okay. Overall though my horse (Ramon!) was a sweet boy and walked very well. Then the asado was also very well cooked and the dessert was delicious. It was probably the most authentic experience I’ve had in any excursion I’ve taken. I am born in Argentina and this did not feel like a “tourist trap” at all. I will 100% be coming back and recommending this to everyone I know!
Absolutely gorgeous! Beautiful horses, super staff, and a fabulous meal at the end. This was really a great day. Everything was well organized. The ride was great for new or experienced riders. The hosts made sure all riders were comfortable throughout the ride. Horses were well cared for and beautiful. Again, just an amazing day. So worth it!
One of the best tours I’ve ever taken. Very helpful, friendly and competent guides…both on the ground and the horseback guides. Handled a group of 24, all ages, all experience levels. Food and wine were excellent. The group interacted well. Great time!
If you enjoy horseback riding, asado, and wine, this is the trip for you! Everything about the day was perfect if you were looking for a morning to early afternoon activity in Bariloche
This was one of the best rides I've ever been on. The ride was through a valley, so there was no concern about mountains. The gauchos spoke English, so no worries. The gauchos did a wonderful job matching the riders with the horses. The ride was about two hours, but very leisurely. My husband chose not to ride and enjoyed walking around the ranch. There was a light breakfast before the ride which was delicious. The meal after the ride was fantastic! I highly recommend this ride
This was really great, guides and staff were awesome, horses were beautiful and incredibly tame (not a rider, but they were so sweet and calm I felt like a cowboy) and the food&wine were out of this world!
Horses were in great shape and very safe. The views were magnificent. It was like you were in a Western Movie. Well worth the trip. The food was excellent. The guides were very responsive and friendly.
Great relaxing experience. You start with a Coffee and tortas fritas, then the group is introduced to the horses and given some basic instructions. The horses are very calm andhealthy The ride is great for Kids, is a 2 hours ride in plains, surrounded by Mountains. When youre back, there is a great asado waiting, with wine, Coke, watwe, salas and very good meat. We arriesgar back to the City at 16hs. Nice experience
Everyone were inexperienced riders, but managed to enjoy the nearly 2hr ride herded along by two gauchos. Beautiful countryside! The asado was delicious and fun, fueled by steak and wine the diverse group managed to come together to sing a rousing Happy Birthday to a young Chilean participant.
This is a good tour. They pick you up and return you from Bariloche. It’s a bit of a drive to the ranch. We were greeted in the morning with coffee and pastries in a beautiful wood lodge with a fireplace roaring. There is a long talk about the animals that live in the area. I would’ve liked to have heard more about the horses that we were about to ride. The horses were strong, healthy and easy to ride. We walked mostly with only a small amount of trotting. After the ride, there is a big lunch served in the lodge which is wonderful. Be prepared for wind, as it can be quite strong in this area.
The ride was really fun and the guides were nice. The landscape is amazing. We enjoyed the talk about the local fauna ahead of the ride and my parents enjoyed learning about mate. The asado was delicious.
This was such an incredible excursion. If you’re contemplating booking this, just do it! The guides and hosts were all so incredible. The place itself was absolutely magical. The horses were all so sweet and calm. It was an amazing way to see the mountains and the landscape, paired with some delicious breakfast and authentic asado.
When I return to Bariloche, I will definitely make sure to experience it again. It was an incredible day with delicious food and stunning scenery—a definite must-do.
My wife and I had a great time on this trip. Pick up in Bariloche was easy, the horseback riding was fun, and the asado was delicious. I would do it again!
What an awesome experience. Very professional staff. Great views, great food, great ambience. Would recommend
So enjoyable, really nice people, beautiful views, would recommend to anyone traveling to the area :)
The best part was my horse Nina she was a paint She was a perfect horse. The whole experience of riding and meeting new people is so wonderful. Food was delicious all you could eat lots of virility of drinks. We learned about Red Deer in the Mountains.
The experience was phenomenal, definitely a great experience. It’s cheaper if you pay for the tour in Argentinian pesos than to do through trip advisor. Definitely a little too expensive in my opinion and the steak was okay, I like my steak medium rare and it came out medium well. So they should ask people how they like their steak imo
Lovely views in the Patagonian Steps whilst riding with the Gauchos. Good 2 hour ride . Provide with pastries and hot drinks on arrival and a fabulous lunch. The lunch was barbecued meat salad , bread and wine plus s Dulce dr me he pancake . I have one comment no one spoke English therefore for an hour I listened to a talk on deer which I had no understanding of . My friend speaks some Spanish but this tested her knowledge. Other South Americans on our table did also help . Even if it was in a leaflet it would help . Also having been told what was said it didn’t seem of relevance to the riding . I would rather hear the history of the Gaucho and ranch . The lack of English speaking may affect other participants who do not understand Spanish as this part is pointless. Also there were quite a lot of us so we felt they could have seperated the groups into smaller ones so that you could chat and be given information about the area.
Great trip, with nice guides and great food both before and after. The valley you ride through is stunning and very picturesque.
We had a great trip with many first time riders…everyone had a great time. The food was fantastic! A great way to spend an afternoon exploring the estancia! Gauchos were great!
The day was handled by Si Turismo and we went to la Fragua. The bus ride from Bariloche is about 30 minutes long. If you are fortunate enough to be the last one to be picked up. Unfortunately for us we were the first and the driver was sent to many wrong address… the day started for us with a 50 minutes ride going in circle in Bariloche. I would give 0/5 for that part. Fortunately when we arrived at destination, everything went perfectly. At first you have a breakfast while learning about the ecosystem and the biodiversity of the area. Then you jump on your horse and ride for 1h1/2. When you comeback, a delicious meal is waiting tor you. The horses are beautiful and very easy to ride. The dogs from the estancia follow the group during the entire time, very cute. The area is beautiful. One of our best experience in Argentina. We were the only foreigners. Everything was in spanish. We understood most of it so we didn’t ask for translation. Best spanish class ever for our two teenagers. One our way back, we jumped out of the bus the minute we entred the city center. We were not ready to drive to all the hotels once again.
Whole experience was great, bit of confusion with the pickup but the whole ranch and horseback riding experience was amazing, views not to be missed, highlight of my South America tour. Guides are quite quiet due to language barrier so try keep up with an English speaking guide if necessary but didn't take from the views and scenery.
Fantastic tour. The food was amazing and the host provided a lot of interesting information on the estancia and animals. The horse riding was awesome
When we arrived we enjoyed sopapilla type pastries with tastey jam and mate then embarked on a two hour trail ride with astounding panoramic views and peaceful silence. Our horses were well cared for and very responsive. And our two friendly gauchos kindly stopped for picture taking opportunities. The ride was followed by a yummy Argentinian lunch of fresh salad, potatos and, of course, perfectly barbequed steak from La Pampas and crepes with dolce de leche. It was a perfect day!
This was a highlight of our trip to Argentina. Amazing scenery. Great horses and trails. Friendly support from the gauchos, so we never felt out of control. And to cap it off, a delicious asado meal at the end of the ride. Very authentic. Strongly recommended!
I wanted a tour that was an alternative to riding in a van to see the sights in and around Bariloche. This horseback tour was just the thing. Picked up at my hotel and taken to an estancia about 45 minutes outside of the city, our group had a continental breakfast and nature talk to begin the tour. There were only two English speakers out of eleven participants, but the tour coordinator at the estancia reviewed the highlights of his remarks in Spanish for us and answered any questions we had. The actual ride was 90 minutes across scrub land, through streams and up and down hillsides. There were two gauchos, one leading the walk, the other bringing up the rear as well as three dogs helping to keep the horses together. The ride and scenery were spectacular, ending in a very good traditional asado lunch with wine and other beverages. One does not have to have had experience riding, most of our group hadn't, so novices can handle the horses. One suggestion would be to wear jeans or long pants to avoid contact with some of the plants the horses walked through. I thoroughly enjoyed this tour and felt I got a great bang for my buck. Highly recommended.
Unfortunately, also our trip was canceled two days before. We have booked for 2 people for the 26.12 and got notified on 24.12. that there were too less people to make the tour. I was asking if there are other things that we can do instead but I never got an answer. So it might be worth to think in alternatives in case of cancellation.
My husband booked this experience thru viator . This was just wonderful for our family of 4 with 2 boys ages 3 and 9. The ranch was under an hrs drive from the main town. At the ranch, there was some tea, coffee, milk and fresh hollow bread freshly baked from the oven(yummy). Fernando the owner of the ranch spoke to us about the animals in the area. He tried his best to also explain in English. After they paired us with us very well behaved n trained horse.. me n my 3 yrs old could saddle together. The horseback ride was sooo beautiful.. note we have never done this before but the horses knew was to do n where to go.. the views were gorgeous.. we did see an occasional condor bird/ nest.. The cherry on the cake was the freshly grilled meat m sausages.. the meat was delicious melt in your mouth with a side of potatoes and salad followed by a dessert of crepes filled with dulche de Leche... mucho gracias !!!!
Well planed, tasty breakfast, pleasant horseback ride on a beautiful Patagonia valley, excellent asado meal and lots of memories
