The hotel has a beautiful location, impressive architecture, and wonderful views. Unfortunately, the room was very disappointing. It looked simple, dated, and noticeably worn, which is not what you expect from a five-star hotel. Even basic amenities, such as toothbrushes, were not provided. Considering that the resort is located far from the city and welcomes many families, there should also be a small shop or pharmacy where guests can buy basic personal hygiene products and essential items for small children, such as diapers and baby-care products. The property itself is beautiful, but the rooms and available services do not fully match the hotel’s five-star status.
Stayed for two nights at Llao Llao Hotel & Resort. The setting and scenery are absolutely stunning — arriving through the landscape around the hotel is genuinely impressive, and the property itself is large, beautiful, and very well located in Patagonia. That said, the guest experience didn’t really match what I’d expect from a five-star hotel. The reception staff came across as quite robotic and unfriendly throughout my stay. The elevators are right beside reception, so I passed the desk constantly, and not once did any staff member acknowledge me with a smile, hello, or even eye contact. It actually became a bit awkward, and it’s not something I’ve experienced before in luxury hotels. The first impression was also poor because immediately upon arrival I was told parking costs almost $30 per day. In a remote Patagonia resort where virtually every guest arrives by car, that felt excessive and unnecessary. Honestly, it detracts from the experience. It would make far more sense to simply incorporate that into the room rate rather than making guests feel nickel-and-dimed on arrival. The rooms themselves were nice, clean, and comfortable, but to me they felt more like a good European four-star hotel rather than a true international five-star luxury standard. The hotel overall feels much more like a large family resort than an intimate luxury hotel. Coming from Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires, the contrast in service and atmosphere was quite noticeable, although to be fair, there is also a significant price difference between the two. Overall, a beautiful property with incredible surroundings, but the service and overall atmosphere didn’t quite live up to the setting.
The hotel is absolutely beautiful and offers incredible views. I visited during the fall, which made the scenery even more special. However, one thing I do not recommend at all is eating at the hotel. The food is extremely poor and very expensive. Unfortunately, I had to eat at the hotel multiple times during my five-day stay, and every single experience—whether it was room service or dining at the different restaurants—was disappointing. The food quality was consistently bad, often arriving cold, and it didn’t reflect the standard you’d expect from a hotel of that caliber, especially considering the prices. One highlight, though, is the breakfast. It’s definitely worth it if it’s included—very complete, and the service is excellent. That said, I wouldn’t recommend the tea, the salad garden, or dining at any of the hotel’s restaurants. Overall, aside from the dining experience, the hotel’s accommodations were amazing, although the beds weren’t particularly comfortable.
We stayed at Llao Llao Resort in the new wing, and the views of the Nahuel Huapi National Park mountains and the lake were absolutely spectacular - the clear highlight of the stay. The room was very comfortable, and housekeeping was excellent with twice-daily cleaning. Unfortunately, several areas disappointed. The Wi-Fi was very unreliable and constantly dropped. Most staff spoke only Spanish and seemed to assume guests would understand, which made communication challenging. The concierge was not very effective, with slow email responses. Room service was extremely expensive, even compared to high-end hotels in the U.S. The golf experience was also very poor. The course feels outdated, there is no driving range, and the golf clubs were very old (clearly over six years). Our golf cart was not properly charged and nearly ran out on the course, and the cart paths were poorly maintained and slippery, creating unsafe conditions. Overall, an extraordinary location and strong housekeeping, but service gaps, infrastructure issues, and pricing significantly impact the experience.
