9:00am - You will start your day at our office located right across from the famous Palau de la Musica. Meet your guide and listen to what the day has in store.
10:30am - Our first winery is an absolute treat. You will be shown around the winery by the owner herself, making you feel as if you're an old friend or one of the family. She will explain all about her family's dedication to wine making, and you'll try a number of their best wines. But what makes this visit so unforgettable is the stunning sight of Montserrat serving as a backdrop to the endless views the vineyards. This is a real, family owned winery. Don't be surprised to meet other members of the family as they wander around their family home. It's an absolute privilege to visit here.
12.00pm - The second winery of the day is another small family owned winery where you'll again be shown around by the owners. This is such an intimate visit, and it a real treat to stand in their underground cellars that they literally carved out themselves. You will enjoy a really personal wine tasting here, as the owner's wife lets you try a variety of wines, depending on what you prefer most.
2.00pm - After two special wineries, we will take you to a farmhouse style restaurant for a traditional local lunch. There is a variety of typical dishes to choose from. But what stands out for most people is the location of the restaurant - it's right in the middle of the vineyards!
3.30pm - Our final winery of the day is another family owned winery. The grapes here are not just grown organically, they also follow a bio-dynamic philosophy of wine making. You'll learn all about this innovative approach as you walk in the vineyards, discover their underground cellars, and enjoy a very substantial wine tasting, followed by an olive oil tasting.
6.30pm - We will leave our last winery, arriving back in Barcelona about 6.30pm
Sergi was awesome! Kept us informed and chatted with us quite a bit. Loved the itinerary! Marta was super friendly at Mas Contral and we enjoyed her share of the terroir of the region. Her dogs were lovely too. Felix Masana Rafols was such a cool find! Fantastic cava! We will always remember his “egg game.” I would highly recommend this tour. DO NOT BOOK THIS. We arrived promptly at our departure time and were casually told the tour had been cancelled. They had no explanation why we weren’t notified. There were no other activities available so we had an entire day wasted.

We had an amazing time with Rod!! He is the perfect guide- laid back but super informative, giving great history and architecture facts and bring you to the best places possible. Absolutely recommend the Cava wine tour- the family wineries are beautiful and friendly with great products. 10/10 would do it again

Probably one of the best tours I’ve been on. We visited 3 boutique wineries in the Penedes region. Every winery was beautiful and the staff was so kind and welcoming. We met the owners who also worked in site and you could see their passion for their wine. Our guide was great. She filled us in with history of the region and wineries. Overall great!
A perfect day! I learned a lot about Catalonia and a little about wine. Rodrigo (Rod) was an amazing guide. Fun, knowledgeable, friendly, and fluent in English. The selected wineries and restaurant were all interesting and unique. The drive was beautiful and informative. Highly recommend this tour, especially if you get paired with Rod!

Rod was our guide, and it was amazing! Great connection, and we matched the mood from the very beginning! The car ride was very safe, and Rod took care of us as a group well. He managed to find a nice lunch place for us. We had a great talk, and Rod also knows lots of interesting facts that were actually interesting for us. When I'll come here next time, I'd like to have Rod as a guide because now I know it's a safe choice.

An amazing day spent sampling the delightful wines of the Penedes region of Catalunya. The selection of three very different wineries made for an inciteful glimpse into how individuals react to the variables of location, soil and weather. Everything was perfect and Rod, our guide, ensured that everything ran smoothly including excellent recommendations for lunch. Rod also provided a very interesting dialogue between visits, increasing our knowledge of Catalunyan and Iberian history. On top of this Rod was a thoroughly nice guy 😎

I did the Pendes wine tour with the tour guide Rod and it was well planned and carefully thought out. A lot of information was given in the ride there that increased my knowledge of the land, business and usage of wine from the region. It was well informed and timely.

Exceptional wine tour. Went to 3 wineries, all were small independent wineries, got to sample a variety of cava, white, and red. Area is beautiful, learned a lot about the region and winemaking process. Our tour guide was excellent. Lunch was good and at a local restaurant. Overall would highly recommend.
All three wineries were great, but Kristine, the owner of Felix Massana's was by far my favorite person! We not only bought wine, but olive oil & honey as well. It's amazing how they do everything themselves & by hand. I think our 5 kids (ages 28-18) liked the wine from Pares Balta best, but I liked Massana's best. Mas Comtal was the most gorgeous winery & their wines were excellent. Enrique was our guide & he was full of knowledge & so interesting!

David was amazing!! Of the 12 days we spent in Spain this was probably our favorite day. He gave us lots of information, took us to an amazing local restaurant that grilled meat and let us grill duck at our table!!! He told us about the local traditions and gave us some insight into Catalonia and Barcelona. The 3 wineries we went to were unique and amazing in their own ways. Fun, friendship & education. 3 quite different wineries - one family, one larger but experimenting with climate change options and the 3rd introducing new styles through changes in techniques.Very enjoyable lunch by the vineyards with the other couple on the tour.

My husband and I just experienced the perfect day in the countryside of Barcelona. We went on a wine and cava tour with Rod as our guide. We visited 3 wineries and learned so much about wine, cava and the region. Rod was the best! He was interesting and knowledgeable about the Penedes wine region and the history of Catalan. Since we brought a picnic we did not need to stop for lunch. Instead, Rod found us the perfect picnic location, a medieval castle. We highly recommend Explore Catalunya and are looking at booking another tour this week due to the excellent services provided by Rod.

Our guide was great! He knew so much about the city about history. He was very funny too. It was the food and wine tour but it was not disappointing.
