Amazing tour our tour guide Luca was great to hang out with all day. Taught us a lot about the region and give us a lot more information about Barcelona as well., in terms of the wine if you never been or tried Priorat I would highly recommend it. Every one of my group say that this wine tour was their favorite.

Itinerary
In the morning, drive to the scenic village of La Morera de Montsant, home to the renowned Celler Pasanau estate. Meet the passionate winemakers who maintain this family tradition, and explore their hillside vineyards with stunning views of the Priorat landscape. Then, head into the cellar to discover their meticulous winemaking process before enjoying a tasting of their elegant, full-bodied wines.
Clos Figueras is the second out of the three excellent wineries you will visit during this day trip. On your way from Barcelona to Priorat, as you pass eye-catching terraces of vines that are carved into the hillsides, listen to an orientation of the area from your guide. Tellingly expensive, the rich and full-bodied produce of the area has been subject to harsh growing conditions and labour-intensive harvesting; the grapes are mostly picked by hand. After visiting visit a small local winery to sample your first three Priorat varietals of the day, we will head to Clos Figueres winery, run by Christopher Cannan, a pioneering Priorat winemaker. Learn how the wine is produced by grapes from old vines, without the use of insecticides or other products, and recharge with a traditional 3-course lunch, paired with their wines.
Next, continue to the charming village of Gratallops and visit Celler Devinssi, a small boutique winery in the heart of Priorat. Weather permitting, enjoy a memorable wine tasting right in the vineyards, surrounded by spectacular hilltop views. Learn about their artisanal winemaking process and taste a selection of their elegant, limited-production wines.

We had such a wonderful experience from start to finish! Our guide, Anthony, was fantastic—prompt, incredibly knowledgeable, conversational, and genuinely fun to spend the day with. Since we were with him for the entire day, it made such a difference to have someone who made the experience feel relaxed, personal, and enjoyable. One of our favorite touches was stopping in a small village along the way, where Anthony picked up an amazing selection of charcuterie for us to enjoy with our tastings. Our first winery, Pasanau, was an absolute highlight. Merrick guided our tasting and was incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and thoughtful. He made the experience feel truly unique rather than just another winery tasting, and Pasanau ended up being one of the most memorable parts of our day. Lunch was also delicious, and the hospitality throughout the entire experience was exceptional. Everything felt well planned without ever feeling rushed or overly structured. Between the beautiful wineries, incredible wine and food, and especially the people who made the day so enjoyable, this was easily one of the highlights of our trip. We would absolutely recommend this experience!
Mariela was a great tour guide! The wineries were from very good to good. The last one is the only I would question as part of the tour but the whole experience was great
Great Spanish wine experience, with an amazing lunch and matching wines included with a local driver.
our guide Anthony was great the whole trip! really appreciate his guidance and the way he took time to explain and answer our questions on the tour, especially since it was the first time visiting a winery ever! also gave us many useful wine related recommendations and tips. helped us get our belongings back when we forgot them at the previous winery as well
If you're into wine, this is your tour and worth a splurge. A two-hour drive south of Barcelona lies the Shangri-la of Spanish vineyards - the Priorat. And if you're lucky enough to get Luca as your guide, your experience will be one of a lifetime. Three distinctive wineries are featured, a wine-paired three-course lunch, ending with a tasting right in the vineyard itself, surounded by spectacular views of this unique valley. Spanish Trails is a tour operator worth seeking out for the quality of their offerings and guides.
Wow! What a wonderful experience. Priorat is one of those places that most people wouldn't think of when visiting Barcelona, but we are both so glad that we booked this tour. From start to finish, Samuel was friendly, funny, and so knowledgeable about the history of the region. We were able to visit three incredible wineries and try some truly outstanding wines, as well as a really top notch lunch. We were also lucky enough to have a very friendly group with us, which made the experience even more unforgettable. We are so grateful to have booked this experience, and would absolutely recommend anyone else does the same!
Samuel created a magical day! It felt like being given a love letter from the Priorat region. Truly incredible scenery, in depth knowledge of the three wineries, and the chosen tastings were exquisite. The curated lunch was outstanding. Met some sweet fellow travelers as well. Book it now! You won’t be disappointed! Worth every second to create beautiful memories.
There were 4 of us that booked this tour to Priorat not sure what to expect but the region was amazing- exceeded our expectations. The tour offered everything…beginning with walking some vineyards, tasting in the vineyards and an amazing lunch at a vineyard and of course more tastings. The wine is wonderful. Anthony was our guide and by the end of the day he felt like family! He was extremely knowledgeable and more than accommodating. Don’t miss this tour and be sure to request Anthony.
This tour was amazing! My boyfriend and I ended up being the only ones who had booked for that day, so we were able to enjoy the tour privately. Our tour guide, Samu, made the day an unforgettable experience! He was extremely knowledgeable about the region, the wine, and most importantly an overall pleasure to be around for the entire day. I truly don't think we would've been able to enjoy the day nearly as much if it wasn't for Samu since it was just us two on the tour. The wines were fantastic at all 3 locations, the lunch was delicious, and overall this tour was a 10/10. Would 100% book again and recommend to anyone going to Barcelona / Spain. The drive is a bit on the longer side, but totally worth it for the beautiful vistas.
Was initially hesitant about going to Priorat due to the long ~2 hour ride each way, but so glad we went ahead to join this small-group tour. Experience was excellent from the get-go. Alfonsina addressed my queries promptly and assisted with my reservation when I faced issues with booking platform. Jose Luis was our guide - he is knowledgeable and friendly, giving useful insights along the way. The other tour attendees were also great companions, so time really flew past! Visited 3 wineries with great wines. Jose also ensured we were well-fed while we enjoyed the tastings. Would highly recommend this tour, especially if you enjoy red wines!
Anthony was a highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guide; he drove us through narrow and windy roads, up to the beautiful vineyards of Priorat, where we visited 3 wineries, each with a distinct style, and learned about the broader region, its unique terroir, and tasted a slew of outstanding wines from the producers themselves. A highlight of the trip and a must-do for any wine lover.
Took the wine tour. A wonderful day. Anthony was amazing. Felt like I was being shown around by an old friend. His knowledge of the wine making process is superb. Highly recommend!!
Our day trip with Anthony was infinitely better than we could have imagined! His selections for our activities, knowledge of the wine region, and jovial demeanor made it for the best way to visit Priorat! Highly recommend this tour to any and all ages if you enjoy wine and are looking to get out of the city. The three stops were equally educational, had their own charm, and of course the wine was delicious! Anthony guided us through the whole day taking the guess work out of visiting a new country and region. He was even so kind to give us recommendations for a day trip later in our vacation and nearby attractions to visit. During the stop for lunch, he taught us how to make tomato bread which quickly became a favorite to order the rest of our trip. It is a Catalan tradition we are excited to carry on at home and share with friends! If you are on the fence about using Anthony or Spanish Trails, book your reservation now. It has been the highlight of our girls trip to Barcelona and we attribute it to him!
The quality of this excursion is very high and the guide Mariela was incredibly knowledgeable and pleasant in every way!
At our company, we organize team-building activities a couple of times a year to strengthen our bonds, and this time we chose Spanish Trail. We couldn’t have made a better choice. Anthony, our guide, not only spoke perfect English, but also accompanied us throughout the tour, always being attentive, communicative, and professional. Thank you for such a memorable experience!
Amazing tour through the Priorat wine region. We visited 3 wineries and had an amazing lunch. Our guide Jose did an amazing job and was very knowledgeable.
Lovely day including a short hike to one of the family run vineyards, fantastic lunch in a larger spot, and last tasting at a very small vintner. Everyone was friendly, really knowledgable, and clearly passionate about the wine they make. Our guide was great and our tour mates were delightful. You will return full and a bit wine drunk, but that’s the point, I suppose!
Well worth the price tag! Small group with 2h transport to- and back from priorat. Great choice of different style vinyards and high quality (and quantity) wines tasting. A great lunch too which makes it a solid 5 stars. Highly recommended for wine lovers, get some amazing scenery along with it! Great tour guide with proper English skills and great knowledge. Well done Spanish trails!
Antony, with Spanish Trails was very knowledgeable. We needed to make a few adjustments and he was both flexible and accommodating. The Priorat wine region was amazing and the 3 wineries visited were a very nice contrast from just getting started as a business to fully developed. We tasted some amazing wines and had a lovely winery lunch. We had enough time to make an unscheduled stop at Escaladei Priory remains, where wine making knowledge became established in the Priorat region many centuries ago with the Carthusian monks. An excellent day tour.
Anthony was fantastic. Excellent guide and great stories to help us understand priorat and history. Couldn't have been better
This was a wonderful experience. What made the difference was our tour guide Anthony... He was very knowledgeable; he shared his knowledge and experiences. Very courteous ... I highly recommend him.
Lovely tour, visiting 3 wineries in this beautiful, rustic region. All 3 were among the smaller producers I’ve ever visited. It was very personalized. Loved the ability to interact with winemakers and sample their proud creations. Jose was a wonderful guide.
My friend and I are wine geeks and this is one of the best tours I have ever done in Spain or France. Ask for Craig by name. He was smart, informative, and took us to a combination of smaller and larger producers with hands-on tours with owners in vineyards and wineries. His knowledge and insights were impeccable. Plus he was super cool to hang out with. The dude is an architect and history teacher, so he peppered his narratives with wonderful historical anecdotes and even provided restaurant recommendations and clued us in to local history, etc. Lunch was at a great winery and included wine pairings. And he was attentive to the little things- he had a cooler with water. Made coffee and rest stops, and was always attentive to our needs. He's the kind of dude you would love to hang out with and shoot the breeze over a beer or three. Thanks Craig, and kudos for such a great time!
Visited three interesting wineries about 2 hours away from Barcelona. Anthony was a wonderful tour guide. Enjoyed amazing views of the mountains and quaint villages with rich history. A relaxing day but very hot (July!! We knew it would be) as we sat outside for tastings and hiked through a vineyard. Wear comfortable shoes for a rocky hike at one winery.
Anthony Garnet was an amazing guide! The priorat wineries were beautiful and the day was even better than we had anticipated.
we visited 3 wineries in the area. first one we toured the vineyards and had the tasting in their fermenting room. the second one we toures their cellar and had the tasting in their restaurant where we had lunch, and the last one was the best where we tasted their wines in the middle of the vineyard with beutiful views.
Amazing experience at small, family owned and run wineries. The lunch was spectacular! Mariela, our guide, was great!
We had an amazing tour in Priorat with Mariela! Her knowledge of wine in the region and her enthusiasm made for a very memorable tour! Absolutely the best! Thank you for making the tour the highlight of our stay in Barcelona!
A Once-in-a-lifetime experience - absolutely amazing. Guided by Filippo, a Perfect host for The tour, who know all about The area, The Wine and The people. Don’t miss this One, if you are near Priorat.
This is one of the most amazing wine regions in Spain. Spanish Trails took us to three different wineries for three different experiences - and the wine was all fantastic, the wineries authentic and not commercial. We also stopped in a village on the way there for snacks to enjoy at the first winery; it felt like going back in time. We took this tour back in 2016 and loved it so much we did it again in 2024. It did not disappoint. And our guide Anthony was terrific.
The priorat wine tour was such a unique experience. Anthony was very knowledgeable and friendly as he drove us to three outstanding vineyards. The group was small and the visits private so you are able to really get to personal with each vineyard. This is a must if staying in the Barcelona area! Thank you Anthony for giving us a time we will never forget!
We had a great day with Anthony. The ride to and from Barcelona was about 2 hours but it was comfortable. All 3 wineries were unique, I made some dog friends at one, enjoyed some lovely food at another and drank wine amongst the vines at the third. All the wine was delicious and we even had some shipped home. Overall it was great personalized experience. Anthony was friendly and attentive.
This company is terrible. They cancelled my tour because they wanted me to join another group 3 days later. They cancelled the tour via email the night before. If I had not looked at my email I would have shown up to my tour. They had contacted me via WhatsApp to so me to change and when I answered they never replied. They did not have the decency to alert me of the cancellation via WhatsApp so it could come in as a message. Very disheartening
My friends and I had such an amazing day on this wine tour! Samuel was our guide and we really appreciated his passion and knowledge of wine. We enjoyed visiting all three wineries and lunch was fabulous. Samuel made sure to bring snacks for us at the other winery too. You will not go hungry on this tour! If you’re a fan of wine this is a region you can’t miss and this is the company to do it with! Everything was well timed and planned out. We did a private group tour which I think was perfect for us so we could just be ourselves but, I’m sure an open group tour would be a blast too. At each winery they were great at answering all our questions and extending our wine knowledge. The small hike at the first winery lead to some beautiful views and we learned more about the winery and grapes along the way. I can only imagine how breathtaking the region is when more things start turning green in spring! It was such a nice escape from busy Barcelona! The wines were lovely and I purchased a few bottles to bring home with me. Thank you Samuel and Spanish Trails for giving us such an amazing day, it truly was the highlight of our vacation!
Mariel was an amazing tour guide. She provided us with a lot of knowledge and information about the region. She was very kind and enjoyable. We had our two daughters (11 and 14) with us and Mariel made sure they had snacks and were engaged the entire time.
This day was the best day of our Spain vacation. Leaving from Barcelona was so easy, the bus was comfortable, but the highlight was our guide Jose Luise and his knowledge of the very beautiful wine region of Piorate. Our first winery was Celler Pasanau. Valeri was so kind and nice. We then had a great lunch and two more wine tastings. Both were amazing. We bought a total of six bottles of wine and olive oil to being shipped by cargo wines. Overall I would not change thing about the experience. I cannot wait to go back and experience the Rioja region. Again, I cannot emphasize enough how great this tour was.
Amazing tour. Our wine guide, Craig was the best. Very knowledgeable and explained the history of the wine region on our way there. We visited 3 wineries and tasted lots of great wine. The wineries were personable and we walked the vineyards at 2 of the wineries. We tasted lots of great wine (more wine tastings than any wine tour we have ever been on and we have done lots of wine tours). We had food (crackers/cheese/ olives/bread etc) served at each winery visit and also a great lunch in a small village at a winery with great wine served with each course. I would highly recommend this tour and Craig!! We will definitely use them again. Well worth it!!
The wineries chosen were excellent, and in gorgeous scenic locations. Our host, Stefano, was charming, knowledgeable, and extremely professional. The countryside of priorat is breathtaking, and lunch was great.
Our tour guide Samu was simply great. He entertained us with great knowhow and historic facts about the Priorat. The valley itself is marvelous and picturesque. The vinery visits were fantastic, adding more explanations to the setup and the craftsmanship in Priorat. The tastings, of course, were also tremendous. Last but not least: Lunch at Clos Figueiras was another top experience not only due to the wine but also because of the delicious meal. Definitely, this tour was worth it from start till end!
We had a lovely day with this wine tour. Our tour guide is very knowledgeable about the history and wine. I do recommend wear a comfortable hiking shoes. We had a cozy lunch at one of the winery. Great food and drinks.
Our guide, Stephan, is amazing! He even made a brief stop to see another landmark. He is also very knowledgable about wine. He is the main reason for the 5 star instead of 4. The tour itself was great but if you are booking through viator they do not give you all of the info. Wear hiking clothes!! You will have an amazing time walking through the vineyards, with luck you will be able to taste the grapes right from the vines and of course try delicious wines and snacks. Over all very happy with the experience..
Samual was a great, knowledgable, and gracious host to three wonderful small wineries. Incredible food and wine. The land is starkly beautiful which is why the wine is so superior having to work to bring the grapes forward. Each of the wineries was unique and had a fascinating story. The food at lunch was very good and paired well with the wine offerings. We were fortunate that the trip occured as all but my wufe and I had cancelled, so we had an unplannned private tour. This hospitality is testament to the care this tour gives to its guests. Thanks for making my already high opinion fo Priorat wine grow even more.
Getting into the vineyards of Priorat, meeting the producers. Seeing fossils, feeling the shale soil. This was our favorite experience in all of Barcelona, everything was taken care of. Our tour guide Jose Luis was incredibly knowledgeable about Spain’s history teaching us stuff we had no idea about. My partner and me work in the wine industry and this tour over delivered. I highly recommend using Viator to get a personal experience.
Took a friend who was visiting from the States along for my first trip to Priorat. She works in the wine business and Priorat wines have long been among my favorites. The day did not disappoint. We had an amazing hike through a national park to a fairly remote rocky vineyard at Pasanau before tasting their wines with a selection of meats and cheeses, a lovely lunch and winery tour at Clos Figueres and saw some crazy hillside vines at Clos Dominic before visiting their cellars. Our guide was super nice and very knowledgable. Would go back again!
Great guide that also drowe us safely there and back. Big knowledge in wine, history and area. A very enjoyable day that we could recomend to everybody. Landscape was beautiful and a great three course lunch was served, all people on the trip was a pleasure to meat. All Great!
Wonderful tour experience! Inez was an excellent tour guide and our time at the wineries was truly exceptional. A beautiful region of Spain outside the hustle and bustle of Barcelona. If you enjoy good wine- definitely do this tour! Make sure to wear comfortable shoes (there is some walking through the vineyards) and when we went in mid-June it was very hot so bring water :) A very special and unique experience- one of the highlights of our time in Spain!
For wine lovers or for a break out of the city of Barcelona this was a great tour. The tour guide was helpful and practiced all safety precautions when driving. The wines at all three locations were really good. We ended up buying 6 bottles total. The first winery we did a vineyard tour and learned what is specific in regards to Priorat Wine Region that is different then others. The second winery is where we had lunch. I had the lamb which was amazing. My wife had the sausage that was just ok. The steak paella looked amazing and I regret not getting it. We also got to tour the cellar at the second winery. The third winery we went to picnic tables in the middle of a vineyard for the tasting. All in all is was a great experience. Lots of beautiful views. Well worth the money spent.
Stephan was a highly organized and very knowledgeable tour guide. We highly recommend him. It was a great trip.
Love, love, love this tour with Martin. We took this tour back in October 2022 and we still talk about how great a day it was. Martin was a great guide, lunch was terrific, and the last winery we visited - Celler Pasanau - was exceptional. I highly recommend this tour - and Martin as the guide - if you enjoy terrific wine and want to explore a beautiful, stunning (esp at sunset) wine region.
