Such an amazing experience! The medieval villages were charming, the waterfall beautiful, and the panoramic trails had incredible views at every turn. Mariela made the day so fun and easy with her great energy and local knowledge. The meal at the end was delicious and the perfect way to wrap it all up. Highly recommend!

Our guide Sam was phenomenal. At the end of October, the weather was perfect and there were almost no tourists in the town. Rupit is beautiful and the hike was moderate. Best for people who can hike up and down and on uneven surfaces. The restaurant we ate at after the hike was exceptional.
The beauty and peace waiting just outside of Barcelona is a must to experience. Sam, our guide, was phenomenal . Eating in Rupit is not to be missed.
5 Star Excursion. Tour guide, Anthony, was fantastic. Hike was challenging, but the views were amazing. Village is very picturesque and lunch was delicious.
This was a 5 star experience. Our guide, Anthony, was superb. The hike was challenging, but the views were spectacular! The lunch was delicious and the village very picturesque. We highly recommend this tour for people who want to get out into the countryside around Barcelona and enjoy hiking.
My husband actually booked this excursion. I read previous reviews and it sounded like a nice way to get out of Barcelona and see the countryside. Antoine is an excellent guide and we had a great time hiking up and down and up and down on rocky paths, stairs, steps, across streams etc. as he pointed out trees, plants, views and whatever else we needed to know about along the way. I will say this is most definitely a HIKE and I would not recommend it unless you are prepared be climbing on uneven terrain with obstacles. My husband and I are 67 years old we did this however were challenged at times. The scenery along the way is beautiful and being on top of a mountain is quite an amazing experience. We had a very nice breakfast before our hike and a very filling lunch afterwards. We thank you, Antoine for a wonderful day with you!
This is the highlight of our Barcelona stay. Having been here before twice, we decided to get out of the hustle and bustle city and what a pleaant surprise for us. Mariela, our guide, is just amazing. She's so knowledgeable with a passion for this trip. The hike was so amazing and we have shifted some serious calories 😅. The views were just out of this world. We finished our tour with the most scrumptious 3 course Catalunya food with good wine and liquor. Thank you Mariela for making this such a memorable day for us xx
One of our favourite tours of our 5 week trip. Craig our guide was awesome, he obviously loves his job and is very knowledgable about the areas. Views were stunning and the lunch at the end in Rupit just topped off a really fun day. Would highly recommend this tour.
Possibly our favorite day during our stay in Barcelona. Visiting Rupit and the hike around the countryside was so enjoyable. Plus the lunch was delicious!
We had a fantastic day - real highlight of our 4 days Barcelona to get out to country side.. our tour guide Antoine was brilliant, a lovely French guy who was extremely knowledgeable on allot of European history, not just Spain.. we had a lovely day with him, and taking us to eat very traditional food up in the mountains that we had not tasted or experienced in the city… we were fortunate to be the only people on the tour that day, so extra lucky… totally recommend…
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our hike with guides Mariela and Sam. We discussed the history of the area from the days of Franco to the present and learned much about Catalunya during our van ride. The village was lovely, breakfast and lunch were delicious and we loved learning about and tasting the traditional foods, and the hike was really nice with absolutely gorgeous views. It was a pleasure to spend the day with our guides, who by the end of the day felt like friends to us.
Such a beautiful tour into the village of Rupit, with a great guide. We explored the village as we started our hike. The views from the top were magnificent! Post hike we had a wonderful lunch in a local restaurant. I would highly recommend this tour.
One of our best tours ever thanks to Mariela, our tour guide. She was so knowledgeable about the culture, the history and environment. We were introduced to traditional foods of Catalans. 10+ Highly recommend
Our recent tour of the Pyrenees with Dan as our guide was nothing short of exceptional. Dan's enthusiasm, knowledge, and passion for the region were evident from the very beginning. He expertly guided us through the charming Pyrenees Village, sharing fascinating historical insights and anecdotes along the way. The hiking trails were breathtaking, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and countryside. Dan's attention to detail was truly remarkable. He ensured we had a taste of the local cuisine, introducing us to authentic and delicious dishes. He also went above and beyond, taking captivating pictures of us throughout the day, capturing the essence of our unforgettable experience. Dan's friendly demeanour and warm personality made us feel instantly welcomed and at ease. He was always eager to answer our questions and share his insights about the region. His passion for the Pyrenees was contagious, and he inspired us to appreciate the beauty and cultural richness of this remarkable area. Overall, our tour with Dan was an absolute highlight of our trip to Spain. He is a true gem of a guide, and we highly recommend his services to anyone seeking an authentic and memorable experience in the Pyrenees.
Beautiful scenery while hiking with a few stops to enjoy the view. Mariella was fantastic; knowledgeable with great positive energy. Food was delicious too! If you want to get away from the bustling streets of Barcelona and take in calming sights with a good laugh, we highly recommend this hike with Mariella. You will be so happy you did ❤️ Thank you, Mariella!
Amazing time! Filippo and Samuel were super knowledgeable and hilarious guides. Great food and views. Highly recommend.
We went on 4 incredible tours with Spanish trails. Everything was perfect on all of the tours, from help with choosing the tours to going on the tours. Isabel and Filippo helped us pick the tours that would work best for our family and really help us get a feel for everything Barcelona has to offer and we were so pleased with our choices. Pyrenees Village Hike: Our guide was an incredible host -- told us so much history about Rupit, showed us some incredible views of the town and the Pyrenees, and brought us to the most delicious lunch in town. She was friendly and had endless patience for all of my kids' questions. She volunteered to take pictures of us and we had so much fun exploring with her. Foodie tour: We tried so many really fantastic foods that we wouldn't have known to order -- from bone marrow to fois gras. Everything was so delicious and the wine parings were great as well! Barcelona 8 hour tour: This tour was incredible. Our guide had an architecture background and knew almost every question our kids had about the buildings and the history of Barcelona. We learned so much about the city's history and we hit all of the must see tourist attractions. There is no way we could have learned as much or seen as much on our own. We had a fantastic lunch that day at a restaurant on the water with a beautiful view. The day really was perfect. Kayak tour: We had so much fun on this tour. Our guide was awesome and brought us to some great cliffs for jumping. We had a lovely picnic lunch on the beach. This really was a highlight to see the coastline and beautiful scenery. Overall, we are so glad we put our trust in this company to plan our perfect Barcelona vacation. We hope to go back sometime soon and go on the rest of their tours! Everyone went above and beyond to help us.
I have been to the pre Pyrenees and Medieval town of Rupit tour with Spanish Trails. We had an amazing tour guide who knew so much about the Spanish and Catalan culture. The tour started with a traditional Catalan breakfast, which I liked a lot. The medieval town was very great to visit. The pre Pyrenees had an amazing view I had never seen in my life before. At the end of the tour we had an amazing Catalan lunch. The restaurant had so much to offer. Firstly we tried a local Catalan wine, which was a great experience. The amount of various meats they offered was unbelievable. This tour gets a 5-stars ranking from me. From food to wine, I experienced the local culture and it was wonderful.
Excellent trip and hike, lunch was wonderful, more than expected! Phillpo was a fantastic guide, friendly and knowledgeable, it was a history lesson combined!
We had a terrific family outing with this hike, even with teens! Our guide Samuel had only our family on the tour, but he remained excellent to talk to throughout the day. That included during the drives back and forth to the mountains, which could have been a drag. The breakfast – charcuterie, croissants and coffee – in Rupit was tasty and a great start. His explanations of the history as we strolled through the village were evocative. Then the hike: it had several arresting lookouts, and the waterfall was a marvelous stop. The lunch after the hike was ample and delicious and the busy restaurant was charming, with snappy service. Samuel was always present and ready to engage with us. Ultimately, the combination of the village and the hiking balance very well.
One of the best tours I have ever taken anywhere. I booked a friend on this trip two years ago and she raved about the experience. I had to try it myself and it lived up to every expectatation. The Hike was challenging but well worth it for the incredible views at the end. Lunch in Rupit is among the most memorable I have eaten anywhere in the world. Our phenomenal guide Craig kept us engaged with history and culture on the trip to Rupit and was a great trail guide on the hike. I will definitely do more tours with Craig and with Spanish Trails when I return to Barcelona.
Spanish Trails is incredible in they're end-to-end service. I attended the Pyrenees trail tour and Jose did a fantastic job of accommodating to our groups needs and focusing on the small details while delivering an outstanding tour. He brought us snacks, explained things in great detail and left us feeling so satisfied at the end of the day. Thank you Spanish Trails and Jose! Highly recommend.
We had a great guide who stopped along the way to the mountains to take us to the best croissants I've ever had! Very nice town, amazing views, and lunch, which all provided a great break from the city. I've been on a couple of Spanish Trails tours and the food both times have been excellent!
We drove with Jose approximately and hour and a half through beautiful countryside to Rupit. After enjoying a light breakfast in a local cafe, we hiked through the forest up a mountain. The scenery was amazing, and we got some beautiful pictures! Following the hike, we had lunch in a local restaurant owned by a 6th generation family. Lunch was local food, simply prepared, but absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this tour, and Jose in particular!!!
For the second Friday excursion of our study abroad program our wonderful and hilarious tour guides Jose and Alex took us up to the Rupit village. We were given a tasty breakfast before our hike and then set off to roam through the peaceful cobblestoned streets and drink in the gorgeous mountain view. The cool wind was perfect, away from the humidity of the city and we cannot stop taking pictures of the architecture and nature scenery. Our guides educated us with the history and evolution of the village, the common plants and flowers, and the remains of hunting traps and tombes used ages ago. Jose and Alex knew where to get the best photos, and took us right on top of the flowing, clear waterfall and the whole group spread out on top of the rocks overlooking the vast green valley and the magnificent stone boulders. The hike was simple with just the right amount of difficulty to make us sweat and have a decent work out. After the hike we were treated to a glorious late lunch at a restaurant and stuffed ourselves silly with sausages, grilled meat, tomato bread (they gave us the ingredients to make it ourselves)...etc. A fabulous excursion that I will never forget!
The guide was very personable, and it was a relaxed and very enjoyable & beautiful hike. Great get away from the city.
We started off with a beautiful drive through the countryside and after an hour and a half, we arrived in the picturesque village of Rupit. Alex, our guide, was very knowledgeable about the area and also so much fun! After a nice and filling breakfast in town, we embarked on our hike through the forest. We stopped at some amazing view spots, and were able to take as much time as we wanted to chill and soak in the views. In the middle of the hike we stopped at a beautiful waterfall and laid down on the warm rock formations, listening to the water flow. We finished up our hike back to town, and arrived at a beautiful local restaurant. The meal came with a plethora of delicious appetizers, a huge main, desert, and SO much wine. They taught us how to drink wine from a traditional Catalan pitcher contraption which was a lot of fun. Overall, it was an amazing day and I highly highly recommend Spanish Trails for any day trip around Barcelona!!
This was not only one of the best experiences of Spain for us, but also the best guided tour I've ever had. We were, perhaps, lucky to have a personal tour for just two of us, my boyfriend and me. We were guided by an English guy, Daniel, who is an easy-going person. During our way to the mountains, he told us a lot about Catalunya and Spanish traditions in a way that it was interesting to listen to. We stopped at one village which is so authentic and well-preserved from 16-17th century. We had a traditional breakfast, which gave us enough energy for hiking. Despite it was the end of December and quite chilly in the morning, we were never cold. By the way, depending on your abilities to hike (e.g. health issues such as heart problems, age groups, etc.) and preferences, your guide could take you to a specific route to make sure that you get great experience, photos and feel fine during your hiking. Since we are healthy young people, we went for an energetic 3h-long walk and made great photos of the mountains we climbed, the forest, the village and cattle, which I'm very fond of. Again, we learned a lot about Spanish culture while we enjoyed these splendid views. After the hike, we went to a cozy restaurant in that village where we had a wonderful service and traditional food. We had several starters, main meals, desserts, and different drinks. The food was so plentiful (I would be still full if I'd share my portions with another person) and so tasty. We learned how to make some starters and definelly are going to make them at home. After this, we walked through the village and felt there as we went back in time to see this magical place. Overall, we fell in love with that place and would love to visit it again, perhaps, if we have an opportunity. We are also very grateful to Daniel who made this tour remarkable. It was a big pleasure to spend time with this person.

One of the highlights of our trip to Barcelona. So glad we booked this tour. Nice experience to get outside of crazy, but engaging and fun Barcelona. Our tour guide was David who did an awesome job guiding us during our exhilarating Pyrenees hike from and back to a small oldest town called Rupit. The sights were first-rate. It is not for people who are afraid of heights. It was semi-serious hiking! Make sure you're wearing comfy hiking/walking shoes. Breakfast and lunch were good! The lunch feast was actually amazing. Wonderful and gracious restaurant staff. For dessert, don't miss the ice cream drizzled with their local Ratafia - I still am dreaming of the flavor. Overall a tour well worth its price.

This is a fantastic day trip. The village of Rupit is just beautiful and the breakfast from the local bakery just before the hike starts is good quality with a great selection- meats, cheeses, selection of local savoury and sweet breads and tea, coffee or orange juice. The walk has stunning scenery and we learnt a lot from our guide along the way. The lunch at the restaurant was fantastic- great quality food and plenty of it. We had 3 full days in Barcelona, 2 spent sightseeing around the city and 1 spent on this day trip and it was absolutely perfect. Highly recommend.

Absolutely incredible and easily the best part of our European tour so far.

The village itself is stunning, one of those postcard locations. Having spent a few day's in Barcelona before hand it was so refreshing to get out of the city. Breakfast was just what we needed before the hike.

It ended up just my partner and I as the other couple had cancelled due to the weather looking a bit dodgy, once in Rupit the weather was perfect. Must say we were glad they did as the one to one intimate experience made it all that much better. Once you get out of the village you really get a chance to take in the stunning scenery.

Sam our guide was really knowledgeable and also got to know us personally rather than just a business transaction. At the end of the hike, we refuelled with a hearty three-course lunch bottle of wine included.

Even the 1.5hr traffic jam on the way back due to the police wanting to flex their muscles wasn't difficult to sit through. Sam was kind enough to drop us back near where we were staying.

Definitely, recommend and will hopefully get to take some time to explore this area in more detail.

One of the highlights of our trip. Our guide from Spanish Trails, Alex, was awesome. The town of Rupit is so magical I didn't want to leave. The hike is a great escape from the city and unbelievably beautiful. We enjoyed the breakfast to start the trip and the delicious feast at the end. I cannot recommend this trip enough

This tour was by far the best adventure I've ever been on! Our guide, Jon, was friendly and extremely knowledgeable- we felt at ease asking him about everything from the Catalan culture to the language to the terrain. Our group was a small one 6 people, and we all got along quite well, even getting to the point of sharing our life stories with each other by the end of the trip. We started out by meeting in the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona, and Jon drove us about an hour and a half out to the village of Rupit in the mountains in Catalan. It definitely felt like I stepped through a time portal- the village, which was literally carved into the mountains, was old but magnificent! We had breakfast at a nice little bakery Forn de Pa l'Era, which served us delicious bread, cheeses, and jamon. There are wines and liquor you can only find in that area. Afterwards, the hike into the foresty mountain was unbelievable! If you love the outdoors, you'll appreciate the closeness with nature that you would experience from this trip. The hiking activity itself was exhilarating, and the fact that it was led by an awesome guide made it also educational and even more stimulating. We got to peer over the edge of cliffs, which brought into view the most amazing sights, including valleys, plateaus, and treetops upon treetops. We got to stand at the top of a waterfall as well. We concluded the full-day trip with dinner at one of the oldest restaurants founded in the 1800s, and I have to say we ate so well there! We were even shown how to properly drink the house wine pass it around!
This trip is a must-do it's a wonderful 1-day escape from the busy and modern city. I had so much fun, and I would do it again in a heartbeat. It's a small price for the experience of a lifetime!

This was our favorite part of our trip to Barcelona. Martin was the perfect guide, with extensive knowledge of the Catalan heritage. He kept us on track, yet we never felt rushed and he made sure we took in every detail of our beautiful surroundings. He obviously, truly enjoys what he does, and it shows through the way he guides you through the tour. In addition to the breathtaking scenery, we enjoyed an authentic Catalan lunch which was delicious. I highly recommend this tour with Martin, if you enjoy getting away from the bustle of the city for a day, and getting some exercise and breathing the fresh air of the countryside. A truly memorable and wonderful experience!

Wow WOW WOOOOOWOWOW!! Remember to bring appropriate footwear. I thought it would be a stroll but it actually was a bit of a hike, however the views and the scenery was BREATHTAKING!!! You get a breakfast and a HUGE lunch included. We were extremely fortunate to be the only 2 that were on the tour. Our guide Dan went at our own pace and was very knowledgeable of the history, flora and fauna and geological aspects of Rupit and the Pyrenees. Best tour and experience of our time in Spain!!! Do it!!!

The views throughout were sensational! The tour guide, Alexandra, was warm, witty, and knowledgeable. The hike ends with a lovely lunch in Rupit. Overall, an unforgettable experience and well worth the money!

Perfect way to get out of the city and see some historic places and really learn about historic and current events. Great food and people. Totally worth every bit of it.

This tour was a welcome experience after being in two big cities, Madrid and Barcelona. It's so nice to unwind in nature and be filled with spectacular views of the pre-Pyranees and a jaw dropping view of the waterfall. Martin, our guide, was exceptional. He was calm, welcoming, and knowledgeable. After our hike, the lunch was wonderful as well. We enjoyed the lesson on how to eat Catalan bread, and what Catalan food was. This was definitely a highlight of our trip in Spain.

This was a great trip to visit Spain's countryside. Our guide,Richard, was very informative and entertaining. This trip included a Catalonia breakfast and lunch. However our voucher did not state that lunch was included. If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, this trip is for you!

Our guide made the trip amazing. He was incredibly knowledgeable!! Very impressed.
