Liliana was delightful and has great local knowledge of the Barcelona food experience. The market tour was excellent and we would recommend if your going to Barcelona book Liliana tour 🙏

The private tour with Lusi was wonderful. Lusi not only introduced us to typical Spanish food, she gave shared so much information on the history of the Barcelona region. We throughly enjoyed our time and the personal attention was well worth the cost.
Great guide, very fun and knowledgeable. Lots if food and drink and learned great info about the city. Bonus was a 5 mile walk!
Elvira was perfect very knowledgeable , friendly she knew her way around town took us to local markets and explained the true Catalon food and flavors and would definitely recommend. 10 stars is not enough for her or the amount of food you get. You better go hungry.
I am not one who usually does reviews, but because of reviews, I found Alan. Alan is the most incredible guide. He took us to 3 different markets where he introduced us to the various tastes of Barcelona. He went above and beyond! Knowledgeable and super personable. Not only learned about the local food but the culture and more. Great person all around! Highly recommend!
Food tour @ The Markets. Silvina from Argentina was our tour guide. This was an Awesome experience. Visited 3 Markets (San Antoni, La Boquería, Santa Catalina). Food was amazing and host too!!! Will do again and definitely recommend.
I can't say enough good things about our tour with Gonzalo! He was so amazing that I sent my sister his info while we were on the tour because she's heading to Barcelona nextnweek. We booked the market tour with him and it was perfection! He shared a ton of history as we walked between tours and we also sampled some amazing local items. He clearly had a relationship with the vendors and they treated us all so kindly. I loved hearing the history of some of the food. He was a fun and happy guide and my kids have compared every guide to him since we got off. "This tour was good, but Gonzalo made ours more personal " definitely book with him!!!
Alessandro was absolutely amazing Inwould highly recommend him him to anyone that is interested in the market culture of Spain It was a perfect overview of all three markets
Alessandro gave us a lovely tour through Barcelona markets and the old town. His knowledge of the history was awesome and he explained it all in a very engaging way. It was great to taste some of the delights on offer and he was sure to take us to a couple of places that would be hard to find as a tourist in Barcelona. I would recommend Alessandro to anyone coming to Barcelona and looking for a walking tour.
Alessandro gave us the perfect combination of history, architecture and food experience, all with a very personable manner. We would happily book more tours with him.
Krisztina led a wonderful food tour. She met us promptly at the scheduled meeting location and time. We visited multiple locations for both food and drink. It was a great introduction to Spanish food and we had several dishes that I wouldn’t have tried on my own which were excellent. Come hungry because you will be satisfyingly full at the end of the tour.
Maria really showed her passion for food, Barcelona and Catalán. I asked her to speak to me in Spanish because I need more practice in listening and understanding. She was very easy to understand. She spoke clearly and at a good pace. She took me to the best places and we had lots of dishes I wouldn’t have known to order on my own. Maria also explained a lot of historical things like places, culture and politics. She found an event that was happening and encouraged me to go. It was a Spring Castellers performance. I was able to go a few days later and it was the highlight of my trip. This was such a great tour and I felt like Maria was my friend.
Our guide (Elvira) was very good. We asked to do a more historic tour of Barcelona after going to the first market as it was too early to start eating for us. She accommodated and showed us around other places. She also gave us good recommendations for other places for dinner and other must “eats”
The food tour with Elvira was one of the highlights of our family trip to Barcelona! We explored two traditional markets and La Bocadaria on La Rambla. Elvira explained the history of the markets to Barcelona and the continuing importance of these markets today. At the first market, Elvira walked us past a number of different stalls—explaining a variety of local dishes and encouraging us to pick out samples to try. Along the way, Elvira explained a lot about Catalan traditions and how these may differ from other parts of the country. We sat and enjoyed several dishes at a tapas bar in the market. The food was absolutely incredible! We took a walk through La Bocadaria on La Rambla and then on to another local market on the other side of the Cathedral of Barcelona. Similar to the first market, we wandered past several stalls and then settled in at Bar Joan to try a bunch of different dishes. Elvira was sure to pick dishes based on our tastes and interests and was eager to hear about whether we liked them or not. Elvira is passionate about her culture and Barcelona. It was wonderful to spend the day with her exploring the markets and trying new foods that as visitors we would have never thought to try. Elvira made exploring new foods easy and fun! We look forward to visiting Barcelona again and would absolutely take another tour with Elvira!
Elvira was a fantastic guide for our food-tasting experience at some of the local markets. At each place we stopped she helped us select traditional Catalan foods to try and explained their history and significance with clear passion for her native country. We had lots to choose from and no strong preferences or aversions so we let Elvira do most of the choosing. I was impressed with she managed to quickly find space for us to sit for counter service at each place we visited despite it being busy lunchtime at clearly popular venues. Although it was a rainy day we enjoyed walking though the Raval and Gotic neighborhoods and most of the tour was indoors under covered markets. The food was delicious and Elvira shared recommendations for other places to explore in the city. We left very full and had to take some of our desserts in take-away bags!
We had an amazing tour with Elvira! We did the 10 tasting market tour but also got some history and highlights of Barcelona. Elvira was great at explaining the history of the markets and the neighborhoods we visited. She also quickly learned what we liked and didn’t like. She has us trying authentic and local bites that we would most likely not order on our own. She went above and beyond and sent us a list of everything we ate plus recommendations of what to try and where to go. We ate at one of her recommended restaurants and had amazing food.
The enthusiastic, vibrant energy, and knowledge of Elvira made this tour awesome. Our tour was very organized, and what we appreciated was the ton of info of the locals- where they eat, shop, their history, what tourist- trap places to avoid, all the info of must see, eat, and do while in Barcelona, and more. All the food and drinks we had were all so goooddd!! We appreciated her so much. Thank you Elvira. We’ll always remember you!
Last month we were very fortunate to take a market tour with Bianca. Due to some issues (ours - not hers) she kindly adjusted the tour. I think we had a better time on our adjusted tour than we would have on our original market tour! Bianca was lovely to spend time with and went out of her way to share her favorite experiences and restaurants in Barcelona. I would definitely recommend booking a tour with her to enhance your visit to this wonderful city.
Great way to understand the history of a few of the different food markets and parts of the city, but not a ton of eating compared to other food tours we have done. It was more like the occasional bite in the food market. Moises our guide was one of the best tour guides we have had in our travels around the world. He gave us a ton of tips on restaurants and bars to check out after the tour which was also helpful. We ended up going to a number of these recommendations. Would I do this again, probably not but tour guides like Moises help raise the level of experiences like this one.
Our guide Federico truly enhanced our experience by tailoring the trip to us. His knowledge of the city enriched our journey with enlightening insights as we walked to each destination. By the end of our tasting tour, not only were we well fed, but we also had valuable recommendations for our remaining time in Barcelona. Starting our vacation this way was a great decision and a highlight for us and our kids. I’d highly recommend it, ideally early in your trip.
A fantastic time touring the three local markets with a very personalized experience and super friendly guide, Ilona.
My friends & I travel a lot & frequently take tours. Our Market Tour with Sebastian was beyond our expectations. Sebastian was friendly, engaging, knowledgeable & adaptable. Our first tastings were cod 3 different ways, 2 days later we are still arguing over which preparation was better. He adjusted the tour based on our interests & brought up relevant local & historical knowledge of the area & the food. We left the tour full of food & with wonderful memories. We had a wonderful time & cannot wait to come back to Barcelona to tour more local food destinations with Sebastian.
We had a lovely time with Ivanna who personalized her planned outing to fit our needs. We combined a trip to Casa Mila with a stop at a tapas restaurant where she pointed us to some of her favorite choices and directed us to her favorite churro stop on our way back to the hotel. She was very personable and lively and full of informational tidbits to enhance our walk. She also offered useful perspectives to the photographer in our group. We booked her directly though the withlocals website which offered a significant savings.
We had a great experience exploring the food and Jewish history of Barcelona with Ilona. While the food aspect was fun and yummy, the Jewish component was very special. She went out of her way to research certain aspects of the history to enhance our tour. She even regrouped with us a second day so that we could experience some things that were closed on the Saturday we originally booked. She was smart and pleasant and flexible and interesting. I would highly recommend her.
Maria rocks in every way. From the moment she arrived I knew I was in great hands. I was traveling alone and only here for a short time and knew I needed an expert. Maria delivered! We toured the streets and markets while connecting with Roman ghosts from an ancient past. We exchanged stories along the way as we ate our way through the city. Maria helped me get oriented and provide great tips on places to visit and things to eat. I plan to send more folks to Maria and hope to join her again in the future. Did I mention she rocks?
Lusi took our tour on with very little notice when another guide became ill, so kudos for that. She was very energetic and made sure that we got the whole market experience. We originally expressed some reluctance to go to the Boqueria market as we had heard that there were many tourists there. To her credit, Lusi talked us out of that, saying that it was the biggest and most interesting market and she was right. After our tour, we needed to get to La Sagrada Familia for a tour there. I was proving very difficult to find a cab, so Lusi showed us how to get there on the Metro and we just made it on time. Good job Lusi.
First, I would like to say what a pleasure it was to meet Maria. She is a true foodie and has a love of what she does. Maria is very knowledgable about the history and culture of Barcelona. Before we started our tour, she explained to us about the history of Barcelona using her own maps that she brought with her. This helped orient us and made us appreciate what we were experiencing. As we visited each market, she pointed out the traditional catalan foods and how some of the dishes were prepared. We sampled very delicious foods along the way. We had a lovely lunch at a local resturant. You don't have to worry about the language barrier, she is very fluent in english and she does all the ordering and communicating with all the vendors. You can ask her any question and she is always happy to explain. I highly recommend Maria to anyone visiting Barcelona, it is worth every penny. At the end of the trip, she gave us a link to her website which had a lot of suggestions for resturants, bars and cafes. Thank you Maria for a most memorable day.
Luis has a true sense of what Barcelona is all about. Be mindful of the time of year you book this tour, A lot of the places in the local markets were closed because store owners where on vacation.
We showed up at the meeting location and the guide never showed up. We attempted to call her. After 20 minutes she called back and said she forgot about the tour completely but recommended a later time that day. We rescheduled. 10 minutes before that tour, the company canceled.
We travel fairly often and usually leave a place thinking we missed out on a "must-see" attraction. We did not leave Barcelona thinking that thanks to Lusi. She was very user-friendly, incredibly easy to talk to, and communicative from when we booked the tour through our last night in Barcelona. She tailored the experience to the wants of our family (we had our 4-year old that is hard to impress, Lusi was the highlight of her trip) and took us to a handful of the local favorites around town. She also gave us a full history lesson of the area and gave us recommendations of spots to try out that she thought our whole family would enjoy, as well as areas to avoid. After the tour, she ensured we had the links to all recommended bars and restaurants and said we could contact her for any questions. We messaged her days after the tour for questions regarding the best beaches, rooftop bars, and parks, and each time she would respond within minutes with the information we requested. We would highly recommend Lusi for anyone looking to have a tailored, fun, and memorable experience in Barcelona.
Nevena was an amazing guide. She tailored our time together to help me understand the tourist vs local food scene, including Markets, little shops, and little bars/restaurants. She was knowledgeable about all of those areas as well as gave me great historical tidbits as well. She wad equally as enthusiastic to learn about where I came from and my interests. Her tour was the perfect introduction to Barcelona for me and I highly recommend her!! Actual travel was Oct 2019 so covid protocols didnt apply
Inés took us and our family on a wonderful tour of Gracia. We were with our two small children and she immediately engaged our very tired and jet lagged kids in the tour and activities. She brought them little aprons and activities to do in the market and took us on a walking tour including snacks at a cafe. She was super friendly and really did a great job with our kids. A great afternoon! Please note we travelled in July of 2018 but we cannot select this option in TripAdvisor.
We went to Barcelona for a few days, and choose Laura to be our host at a tapas and winetour. We are very happy with our choice, Laura was friendly, outgoing, kind and had great expertise. We all enjoyed her tour very much, and we most definitely recommend her.
We had a fabulous time with Ilona in May 2019 who showed us around 4 quite different venues in and around El Born. Ilona has a passion for food and wine and wanted to share this passion with us. Her knowledge of the pinxto bars and their specialties was first class and she was also genuinely interested in knowing more about us. Many thanks Ilona for a great night. Gary and Denise (NB - questions below re Covid-19 not answered as we travelled prior to the pandemic)
Laura is a wonderful tour guide, she is friendly, smiling and happy to show you Barcelona through the eyes of a local. We were taken into a district where few tourist venture and enjoyed the local cultural experience, wines and various tapas. We enjoyed it so much that the following day we returned ourselves in the daytime to see the wonders and delights. You get to see real Barcelona, and to sit in small bars with locals, talking and laughing just really made us feel comfortable. Laura works very hard and I would truly recommend booking her and most of all I would say engage her lots before hand, build that friendship and tell her a few things about your planned trip, she may have some ideas to help. She scores A+++ from me.
We booked a food tour in October 2019. Ilona created such a special day for me and my family. We had some last minute changes but all the while she was patient and accommodating. Ilona is very knowledgeable about Barcelona, the history, the architecture and the food! We only had one day in the city and Ilona made sure it was exactly what we wanted. I highly recommend her!
Our first morning in Barcelona and such a fun morning... We visited the local Market made tomato bread and ate Churros!!! So much information about the city and how people live and fun things to do.... We even learnt to play el juego de la oca 🤣 fun morning with a small boy constantly entertained...
I cannot say enough good things about Ines and this tour. It was certainly a highlight of our trip! Ones went out of her way to provide lots of extra historical information about the city of Barcelona and did a wonderful job engaging us and our kids in the process! She even told me how to make Patatas Bravas, and I can’t wait to try them at home! I highly recommend this tour for anyone with kids. Get out and see Barcelona with your kids as Ines said, kids are part of the family you wouldn’t leave them and grandma at home when you go to dinner in Spain! I love it! This was June 2019 it won’t let me select that date though. I cannot recommend Ines enough.
Vick not only gave us a great tour of the food district but also pointed out historic places, great shoppes and took us to a fabulous store for olive oil. She personalized the tour for us. my favorite was the first tapa bar Bali 9. I had a small pancake with crab that was out of this world. Very artistic and great I highly recommend Vick. We traveled in September time frame 2019.
Lusi was a great guide showing a lot of enthusiasm. We visited bars that we would never have found on our own- all with delicious food. We were totally full at the end of the tour - so come with an appetite!
Wonderful time spent with Laura visiting 3 different markets and walking through several different neighborhoods of Barcelona. As a native Barcelonian, she certainly knows her way around the city.We had 10 different tastings during our tour, plenty of food. She was very accommodating to our needs and requests.Highly recommended!
Natalia is the best. Before the tour started she told me where we would be going and what we would be doing. She also provided some history of the area we met and all of the areas we visited during the tour. She pointed out special buildings we passed as we walked from one market to the other. And, the food was great. The portions were a nice size and satisfied my appetite. I would definitely take a tour with her again.
We booked this market food tour spontaneously and went there with Elvira. And what to say? Elvira is great! If u get the chance to do a good tour with Withlocals in Barcelona, take the chance to book Elvira as your host. She introduced us to the local food markets with wonderful traditional regional food, told us about the history of the food scenery, showed us the most lovable places of the \u201Eold city and let us taste such amazing food while giving us the best company we can imagine for getting behind the scenes. We definitely try to get back to Barcelona and go on tour with Elvira again.. Take this chance, everybody
Lucy was a great guide and we were able to discover all the typical market products of Barcelona, it was great!
