For a very affordable price, you can enter this museum and enjoy a great experience. It’s highly interactive and packed with information about Olympic sports. My favorite parts were the Formula 1 car, perfect for taking some great photos, and the interactive display showing all the Olympic torches, a real highlight. Overall, it’s fun, informative, and well worth a visit. Highly recommended!
Enjoyable multi level museum with lots of information on the history of the olympics and of course the Spanish experience and Barcelona’s Olympics. Lots to read as well as images and film. Big selection of exhibits on display covering a lot of the events and other events like motorsport not featured in the event. Some interactive elements to have some fun with and compete with friends. You descend down to the basement with information and exhibits all the way down with some additional rooms at various points. The gift shop finishes the tour and you are back at the top. Fair price for the experience.
If you love the Olympics, you’ll love this museum! I personally am a big fan of the Olympics w my fav being the original Dream Team so this was a must see!
We didn't plan on doing this, but I'm extremely happy that we visited it after all. A very fun and interesting museum for very little money! The interactive section was also really fun, but my favourite part was the room with all the Olympic torches. I really recommend it if you're into sports!
Located on the Montjuic hill near the Olympic stadium and it is a great stop for all sport enthusiasts. Lots of sports equipment and memorabilia from the Olympic games. Can be visited for free first sunday of each month.
This pleasant museum has interesting exhibits and the right amount of artifacts to be engaging, even for people who are not sports enthusiasts. The exhibit text is in Spanish, English, and if I recall correctly, Catalan. It's worth a stop if you are exploring Montjuic!
We enjoyed this museum - lots of interesting memorabilia on the Olympics and other sport. It was quiet and good value - a bit off the beaten track so a good option when Barcelona is busy.
Stumbled upon the Olympic museum by chance and so glad we did! Incredible range of exhibits across all sports and the history of the Olympic Games. Highly recommend a visit for any sports enthusiast but you need to check opening times and days beforehand as with a number of other sights around Barcelona!
Really interesting. Spent a good hour here. Reasonably priced entry and had some great exhibits. Worth a visit if you are in the area
As an Olympic Games and sports aficionado, I was impressed by the amount of memorabilia and information this place had not only on the 1992 Barcelona Games, but on the origin of sports competition. Tickets: Great value in the ticket price. Would gladly pay it again. (6 or 8€?) Facilities: bathroom, lockers to store your bags (small), souvenir shop Time: I spent 70 minutes and had to leave at closing. I could have done 2.5 hours easy but for a typical museum visitor I would set aside 90 minutes. The museum is set up as a timeline, beginning with the origins of sports and competition. The chronological set up makes it easy to follow the development of sports as part of entertainment and culture in different regions. Memorabilia and descriptions from many countries and disciplines are presented spanning decades. While there is a focus on Olympic sports, it seems any kind of physical activity is covered (snowshoeing, mountain climbing, dune buggy racing). I was too young to experience the Barcelona Olympics but after seeing this museum I feel like I did. Pieces of opening ceremony costumes, advertisements, newspapers, torches, mascots, game used uniforms/kits... Beautiful presentation. Interactive areas: Use the database to find athletes of past Olympics. Watch videos of historic moments. Go through the “athletic feats” type assessment to test speed and reflex. You can spend a lot of time on these. This place is worth the walk/ride/drive/hitch from Barcelona’s center, I promise! Afterwards, visit the stadium and keep your eyes on the sidewalk to see the footsteps of some of the sports worlds greatest.
Incorporated into our walk of the Montjuic area. A really well laid out museum, a little bit of every sport, kept things interesting. Good memorabilia and photos. Really well laid out, friendly staff, good restrooms. Pop over to look at the stadium afterwards.
This was not a planned stop for us. We were walking through the public gardens of Parc de Montjuïc when my daughter decided she really had to go to the restroom. Unfortunately, the nearest public toilet was out of order. We were planning on walking around the Olympic stadium and had time to kill, so the Museum seemed like a good place to both take care of an urgent problem and have a bit of fun. And it didn't cost a ton. Once inside, we found (a bathroom) a ramp leading down to the lower floors lined with exhibits telling the story of sports with mini-exhibits explaining a variety winter and summer Olympic events. The exhibits typically consist of a picture or two of athletes performing the task and then a piece or two of equipment with a little bit of text next to it (in English). Seeing and touching a bobsled from the 1970's and an Indy car mounted on a wall were highlights. Once we reach the ground floor, you get to the exhibits more focused on the Olympics and the Barcelona games specifically. There are a bank of video monitors that can be used to see highlights of previous Olympic games. Here, my favorite sites was a line-up of Olympic torches from decades of Olympic games. These things are amazing works of design artistry. I also enjoyed Salvador Dali's half hearted letter of support for the games to come to Barcelona. All in all the kids seemed to not mind this as much as a typical museum and my wife and appreciated the simplicity of a relaxing, low impact, and straightforward history lesson. And there were helpful staff around as well who volunteered interesting tidbits of trivia. The bathrooms were very nice too.
We loved this museum as it was a tribute to every sport imaginable, even those that just recently joined the Olympics like golf. The exhibits were well curated and it was easy to do a self-guided tour. Best of all, we got in free since we’re over 65.
Nice museum with nice photos of a variety of athletes. Cool artifacts like signed balls and @ctual shoes of athletes. All signs in English. The flow of the museum is easy to follow. . The interactive part needs a little more explanations, how do you do the running long jump activity? Less than $6 for the visit! Add a gift shop. Nice restrooms and free lockers was a nic plus. Not crowded even with a school group song a scavenger hunt.
Ideal for lovers of Olympianism and sports in general, with pieces of value exposed from the main myths of the sport that participated in the Barcelona games. As an axis of improvement I would comment that , at certain times the exhibition is a little messy, mixing disciplines (such as motorcycling, mountaineering among others) where they have not been Olympic, but also that they have wanted to recognize relevant figures both national and international Instagram; Gastronomy recommendations Follow me @del_orchard_al_dish
We happen to visit this museum, which is next to the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys in Montjuic. On the way between the two, there is a “Scalade of Fame”, with feet of famous athletes. The museum is cheap and very interesting, telling the story of various sports and famous athletes. It's empty, it's air-conditioned, the shape of the hallways is spiral. There are some interactive activities, like betting race with a hallway hologram, well fun. It was worth it!
We came to protect ourselves from the outside heat. What a nice surprise! We enjoyed this dive into the history of the modern Olympics with reminders of the 1992 Olympics. My 15 and 10 year olds loved it. Price more than correct!
Family visit with a boy aged 9 and 14. Everyone found something to be gained, from anecdotes to materials... a dive into the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, but not only with the history of the Jos since ancient times, the history of many sports and a beautiful collection of medals, cups and distinctions. A pleasant visit that even if it is not one of the must-see guides is worth the trip.
Museum very complete, interactive and up to date, especially for the price! (3,50 € for students). Our visit lasted 1h30 which is more than satisfactory. I highly recommend.
Great museum for sports and Olympic lovers, with many iconic objects. It is not very big, but it is worth visiting and getting lost among the history emanating from its walls.
I had been wanting to go for years and it was worth it, it is impressive inside. I recommend that you enter, above all the very cheap entrance
This museum is tucked away near the main stadium of the Barcelona Olympics. The exhibition inside is substantial. There are displays of sports and Olympic history so far, as well as autographs and shoes of the best athletes at the Olympics. I really missed the objects used in the opening ceremony of the Barcelona Olympics.
A friend of ours strongly recommended going to this museum. We did. And to say you had no regrets is not to say anything. The adults are very pleased. The children are absolutely delighted. The exhibition is very thoughtful: the "classic" exhibition of exhibits is interspersed with interactivity and multimedia part. There's a lot to see and a lot to run-hop and sit and watch videos of. There is something that interested the adult members of our family, and there is a lot for children. The museum presents both Olympic disciplines and others: motorsport, motorsport. If you're walking around Montjuïc, you'll love it. At least I hope so.
