Montserrat Monastery Horse Riding & Walk – Premium Small Group

Really packed and balanced morning with the horse riding being such a unique way to view the mountains. Loved it!

I had a great time! My favorite things were: - the small group setting (ended up being 7 - and it was all girls so it turned into a cute girls trip) - The ranch. Very sweet ranch owners. I appreciate them for opening up their space to us. NOTE - please respect the space and do not take photos until you are told it is ok. 🙂 - The History & Walk. I hit 15K steps this day, learned a lot, and was grateful to be in the spiritual space of a very unique Monastery (in my opinion). - The outside market and souvenir shops are differently worth the gander

At first I was a bit hesitant booking a guided tour on my own, but it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Everything was well organised and in the small group there were plenty of possibilities to get in touch with new people from around the world. Our guide David was very knowledgeable and funny. He created a good atmosphere and gave good recommendations for other spots in Barcelona. Overall the trip was an enjoyable mix of riding, hiking and sightseeing. The only criticism could be, that it should have been much longer :D No prior skills needed - even newbies like me did it!

We started the excursion with horse back riding which I really enjoy it. Riding on a horse was the very first time for me but it all went superb. Afterwards we went to the monastery of Montserrat. Finally we did a short hike. In general we had a great day !

We had an excellent time on this tour. Juan our tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of information about Barcelona and its history. The horseback riding was fun with some beautiful views. The Monastery of Montserrat and its surrounding area was stunning. Our family of five all agreed that this was the highlight of our trip.

This was such a fun and unique day trip! The mountains were breathtaking and our guide was extremely informative and kind. The horseback riding was super fun! The guides there were so helpful and reassuring as some of us in the group had never even ridden a horse. Truly a wonderful time!

Had a fantastic time on this trip to Montserrat with horse riding. Our guide Frank was lovely and looked after us very well - he knew a lot about the monastery. The horses looked well looked after and the views on the trek were stunning. Transport was comfortable and air conditioned. If I had more time in Barcelona I would definitely go again! Thank you

This journey was an amazing time. I went with my sisters and girlfriend and had a blast. The horseback riding was amazing with beautiful views of Monserrat mountain the whole time. The monastery was also amazing with beautiful views of the valley and mountains.

Our guide, Juan, was super nice and helpful. The horses were gentle and well taken care of. This is a great choice for anyone looking for a nice relaxing trail ride through the beautiful Catalonian countryside followed by a visit to one of the most stunning gothic basilicas out there.

The horses are well cared for and trained well. The view of the mountain while riding is breathtaking. Juan was an amazing guide. Very knowledgeable and pleasant.

Jordy was an amazing tour guide. We had a wonderful time with him visiting the Monastery, he was informative and answered all of our crazy questions. The horseback riding was fun as well. Luckily, we had no mishaps, all went smoothly, as the two guides for the ride weren't very attentive to the riders. They both led the way, talked, flirted with one another the entire time, leaving 6 beginners to figure it out. We all laughed about them "needing to get a room". Regardless, a good time was had, we all made it safely back to our pickup location and had a nice experience.

Montserrat is absolutely a must to visit. It was very special with a nice short walk around the monastery and in the trails around. Amazing views and history. Our guide Frank was engaging and very knowledgeable… Horseback was a nice addition however there were no interaction with the horse guide or stops during the trail for pictures. I would suggest to add it for a better experience. Very good day!

We enjoyed our time. We think a little more time on the mountain would have been nice, this tour was more of an express version. We loved horse back riding with the lovely view. And we always appreciate being in a smaller group so you can really learn because you can actually hear your tour guide. I would recommend, especially if you aren't a big hiker but still would like to visit Montserrat!

Great time. The horses were very tame and easy to ride. The owner of the horses was very patient and had a great ride.

It was such an amazing experience! We are a family of 5 (kids 13yo, 11yo and 8yo) and everyone could participate and enjoy their time.

It was very relaxing on the horseback surrounded with the mountain scene. A slow ride and no experience is needed.

Our guide Jordy was very knowledgeable and we learned a lot about Montserrat. The horseback ride was very scenic. It is of course a follow the leader type walking trail, but nonetheless being on horseback in the mountain air is always lovely!

First, our guide, Jordi picked us up on time at our meeting place which was very easy to get to. As we drove he pointed out landmarks, rivers, and explained some of the geological characteristics along the way. I don’t think there was one person in our group who wasn’t sobered and in awe of that Benedictine Abbey and its history. He gave us the option to walk up to the cross of St. Michael, and most of our group took him up on it. He warned us how steep it was. He didn’t lie. I think one of the reasons he was so good as a guide is his love of his land, the sacredness of the grounds of the Abbey, and his stewardship of the entire area. He explained each chapel in the Basilica, and explained the concept of the Black Madonna. You may well come out of this tour a believer. I have never seen such beauty and have rarely been so moved. And as for the horse riding, it was a wonderful ride through what is reminiscent of Southern California scrub with areas of vineyards and homes scattered here and there. It was a gorgeous ride. I would love to do all of this again. If you go, I hope you get Jordi

Frank was the best tour guide. Very knowledgeable about the history in relation to Spain and the monastery. You do so much and get back to Barcelona to continue with the other half of the day. I would recommend and do again if we come back! Amazing experience.

First I have to say Tony and Thalis were the best tour guides. So pleasant and knowledgeable.....fun to be with. The wine tasting and tapas lunch was terrific. Learned a lot about wine! A great day!

The guide Frank was excellent! He was very entertaining and had alot of information for us The location was good. A bit chilly but great atmosphere and the horses were so a accomodating.

What a great day! The meetup spot was easy to find, the drive up was scenic, the monastery was beautiful, the hiking was perfect, and the horseback riding was so fun and the horses are clearly very well cared for! Or guide Frank was an absolute delight, knowledgeable, fun, had neat history and geology facts, and was a pleasure to talk to! Absolutely would do again!

Absolutely breathtaking, montserrat is a very special place. Uni and Frank were great guides and were also very kind. We enjoyed the visit to the monastery and also the scenery during horseback riding was truly amazing. We left around 8am and were back in the city by 3, but bring snacks, there is not really time to stop for something to eat.

Amazing trip! No tourist trap at all! Very good guide and the best of all were the views from every single location where we were.

Most amazing Experience! We had the most amazing experience visiting Montserrat. Best day out of whole holiday.

Had a 1 hour morning hike at the Monastery on Monserrat and toured the church. Beautiful views of the mountains from up high. Then made a short drive to a local ranch for an hour trail ride. All horses were good on the trail except for my sisters horse that turned back 5 minutes into the ride. She had to be led by the guide handling the reigns. All in all we saw fabulous scenery and enjoyed the tour.

Uni was an amazing guide and speaks fluent English. I scheduled with him last minute and he made everything work. The trip leaves at 8am and we got back around 3pm. The hike was paved and do able started at slightly higher elevation with great views of thr city. We also visited thr monastery. Never felt rushed. Horse riding was fun...but little English spoken which made it a bit challenging sometimes. The main view while riding is at a certain point, which I wish they would have let us dismount to take photos before turning back. I enjoyed my experience overall.

Lovely day. The combination of the two activities makes it a tour that allows you to know the whole area of Montserrat. Uni took care of everything and made all the people in the group happy. The views are spectacular and the ranch very nice. They welcomed us super well.
