Montserrat Monastery & Horse Riding Experience From Barcelona

We were originally booked for a Monday and they contacted us on Sat and canceled due to operational reasons. They rescheduled us to Thursday at same time. Then they reached out on Wednesday and stated the ranch would not be able to saddle the horses. They did offer us other options but we declined as we had booked especially for the horseback riding.

Great experience, wonderful energy and well worth the trip. Everyone was so friendly! Great communication too. Highly recommend.

Carlos was a great guide and the horse-riding was absolutely amazing. Loved every minute! Laura, the instructor, was amazing with the horses and was very fun.

The tour was wonderful. Laura was great at showing how to ride the horses and it was very fun. Carlos gave a great tour of Montserrat. The tour was very organised and ran very smoothly.

This tour was one of the highlights of our trip! The horseback riding with the mountains in the background was truly special. Our guide, Bosco, was amazing—he shared the history of Monserrate in such an engaging way that made the experience even more memorable. Highly recommend!!

Bosco was knowledgeable and approachable. The horse riding was very relaxing. Very suitable for inexperienced riders. Time at top a bit rushed as bus driver got a bit lost on way up

Roger was a great tour and is very knowledgeable about Montserrat and the surrounding areas. Laura was very helpful with the horses and set us up for a beautiful ride. The views on the trail and from the monastery were incredible. 10/10, would book again!

Great trip and experience horse back riding and visiting the monastery in Montserrat. Lucas was a great guide that offered a lot of fun info and insight to the trip.

The tour was great! As an experienced rider, I found the horseback riding part a bit too easy as it was just a walk. However, the scenery more than made up for it. The views were absolutely stunning! Montserrat is such a beautiful and unique place, and our guide Katia took excellent care of us throughout the experience.

This tour was seriously worth every penny! Horseback riding with Laura was an amazing experience, she is such a good guide and made the process very easy even for first timers. The views while horseback riding were absolutely breathtaking! Once we arrived at the monastery Roger took over and explained the history with insights into the town and its inhabitants. He made the tour fun and gave great recommendations on what to do with our free time! Overall one of my favorite experiences and tours that I have EVER been on. I would absolutely do it again if I come back to Barcelona!

I had a great experience with Roger, our friendly and knowledgeable guide, and Laura, our wonderful horseback riding teacher! We were given ample time for both activities and we were able to enjoy incredible views! Both guides were exceptionally warm and made the day one of my favorite travel experiences so far!

Absolutely beautiful scenery on the horse ride. The horses were excellently trained & very well cared for 🙂 The monestry & surrounds are not to be missed. Juan & Carlos were great guides. I would love if the riding could be longer 🐴 thank you

We had a lovely time touring with Chris! The views were amazing and Chris’s knowledge of the mountain and basilica made the experience all the more memorable. I enjoyed the activities. This specific tour was grouped together on the same coach with two other small groups who had different destinations for the day. Our horseback group was dropped off on the side of the road and a driver (not sure if he worked for the tour company or the ranch or if he was a taxi driver) picked us up and took us to the ranch, our guide did not come with us and did not communicate well on what was going to happen after she stayed on the bus. After horseback riding the taxi driver took us up the winding mountain road and we met our guide. She took us through the monastery’s notable history and showed us pictures in a binder of the places we were standing. Not exactly my favorite way to see and experience a place. My group and I were hungry after the horseback ride and we had to follow our guide around for an hour before we had free time. There was a miscommunication on the meetback location, I think having multiple groups on a large coach isn’t the way to go, but overall I’m glad I had these experiences.

Was a great time! The horseback riding was a very enjoyable way to see the mountains. Han was our guide and his information about the history of the monastery was very interesting! You may not have time for all the things on the mountain (hiking, tram, museum, food and shops, market), but still well worth it!

The guides for the excursion, Carlos for Montserrat and Laura for the horseback riding tour were absolutely fantastic! Carlos was very knowledgeable and throughly detailed the history of the monastery and the adjacent sites. There was sufficient time for exploring on your own and to visit local vendors offering cheese, honey, nuts, cherries and more. The horseback riding excursion was fantastic, the views were spectacular and the horses were well mannered, well groomed and very well cared for. Laura's love for the horses and the land is obvious, she was a fantastic guide. This excursion is suited for all levels of riding experience, do not hesitate to book whether this will be your first ride or your 5,000th!

Jimena was our guide for the Monserrat portion of the tour, and she was great (and very knowledgeable)! The horseback riding portion was led by Juan, and he was also great! The horses were well-trained and very well taken care of.

Katia was amazing as she gave us the tour through the Montserrat mountains and monastery. She was kind and gave us very interesting history and stories about where we were, as well as other tips for traveling in Spain. We did the horseback ride and it was like a dream. Laura was our host/guide for that and put everyone in the group at ease especially for the first time riders. Amazing views. Would definitely recommend this tour!!

Katie was a great guide!!! I really liked riding the horses 🐎. The weather is great if you go in May. The bus ride doesn't feel too long and you can buy drinks on the bus if you get thirsty. There are also vendors sometimes at Monserrat. Again highly recommend. Picture worthy for sure!!!

The horseback riding and Monserrat tour was so much fun. The horseback riding was peaceful and the people at the farm were very friendly and attentive. The tour was with Carlos and he was a wealth of information. Learned a lot about the region and the history. Would definitely recommend again and again.

This was a great experience. Laura and Pedro were very helpful during the horseback tour and Carlos was knowledgeable about Montserrat Monastery.

Overall, a good tour. We started with the horseback ride. The horses were in good physical condition and appeared to be well cared for. The ride was a little over an hour on a multi-use trail that provided nice views of the mountains and the fields. The trail guide was very friendly and informative. We took the train up to Montserrat which was nice and scenic. Unfortunately, the basilica was closed for a private function, so we were not able to see it. (No fault of the tour company.) Paco was our primary guide. He was informative and explained things well. All in all, a good tour. I would recommend it.

Han was a great guide, he was both knowledgeable and fun, helping us to understand what we were seeing in Montserrat. The horseback experience was brilliant, memorable for all the right reasons. I had no riding experience, but I felt safe and comfortable after the first 5 minutes of getting set-up with my horse (Brandy). The horseback experience was just the right length; Laura and Pedro at Three Breezes Ranch were great, Laura spoke fantastic English and she made everyone feel welcome and safe. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Barcelona - the monastery side of the tour isn’t overly long, but that wasn’t really an issue (have breakfast before setting off); we managed to hike in our free time after seeing the basilica. The tour involves a coach ride which goes up and down the mountain which is intimidating, but most visitors will be okay. There is no funicular or cable car element, that comes with other tours.

The horse riding was fabulous, Han was very knowledgeable about Monserrat and its history. The organisation was exceptional from start to finish from the coach driver, the taxi driver , and Laura and Pedro from The three Breezes ranch. A special thank you to the horses who were beautiful and well behaved ☺️

Our tour tourguide Carlos offered us a great experience - the organization was very good and so the trip was very relaxing and enjoyable. Only the bus seats were partly broken and the bus a regular one and not as described a "spacious luxury minibus". Also the actual horseride was a little short but since it was an amazing experience, I still give it 5 stars.

This trip was very well planned with great guides. Katia brought our group on the horseback riding leg of the tour, and we felt very well taken care of from start to finish. Highly recommend this tour!

Super convenient, very organized, and such a unique expeditor be able to do horseback riding as well head to Monserrat. I look forward to bringing my family to this experience next time.

The visit was amazing. The tour of the monastery with Bosco was very nice, explaining many unknowns and leaving time after the tour for exploration of the farmers market. The horseback riding was amazing as well. The horses were friendly, well behaved and most importantly well looked after. Great experience for a first time horse rider

Was not the best day to go horseback riding and to Montserrat last week on 3/19//025 as it was pouring rain with lots of fog… definitely our guide Han and at the ranch Cowgirl Laura really put out (made sure we all had proper rain gear and if we did not she had some for us ready to go!) and went above and beyond to compensate for the weather not cooperating. I had the BEST time horseback riding! Laura did a great job preparing all our horses and I got Gazel (not sure if I’m spelling his name right!) and we rode along side Laura’s horse Dusty (pictured!) and Brandy (also pictured!) behind us and Woody and another horse that’s name started with a P :) Laura’s instructions were very clear and that put me at ease with Gazel as I have barely any riding experience. We went on a trail that was supposed to have beautiful views of Montserrat which was covered by clouds while we were getting wet from the rain.. I know it was not the most ideal weather wise, but I truly had a lot of fun and Gazel was an amazing horse and Cowgirl Laura made it fun and memorable! When we were done, Han and the driver brought us to Montserrat which we did have a tour, but decided to retreat indoors as soon as possible to enjoy the museum and to get warm from being completely wet from the rain. Overall Han and Cowgirl Laura deserve a lot of praise for making the day ultra fun even under the unexpected uncontrollable weather conditions! Thanks for a phenomenal day!!

The tour was great! Would highly recommend it. Bosco was very knowledgeable but kept it entertaining and concise. We had a great time with him. My only complaint was for the horseback riding portion. That was great too but I wish they had the horses prepared beforehand, especially since they knew we were coming, rather than having us get on our horses and try to keep them from eating while waiting for her to saddle each horse up. Aside from that, it was great. The views were beautiful for every part of the excursion.

Had a really great time on this tour! Pick up and drop off was seamless and you had plenty of time to get explore the monastery after the horse ride. Our tour guide was also great!

It was very hard to give it a five because it was cold and raining with limited visibility. Our tour guide was great given the circumstances. He did his best but Mother Nature was not kind. The horse ride was a lot of fun even though we were soaking wet.

This was a fantastic day trip with our teens to get into the countryside and do something adventurous! The ranch is an authentic, working ranch. Laura, our cowgirl tour guide, was so easy to talk to and chatted with us about the area. Our tour of Monserrat was spectacular even though it was a cloudy day and low visibility, Roger gave us a wonderful tour of the monastery and then we had plenty of free time to explore. Highly, highly recommend this tour!

So much fun! The horse back ride was mostly flat around some farm land below Montserrat. It was quite foggy when we visited, so we couldn’t see the monastery from below, but it was still a lovely experience. The horses are well-trained and Laura was a great teacher! Completely doable for new riders. After about an hour-long horseback ride, we went to the top of Montserrat via the cable car. Bosco was a wonderful tour guide who gave us a great appreciation for the history and significance of the monastery. He was also very well organized, making sure we were on time for everything that was scheduled, while also giving us time to explore on our own! Again, even though it was foggy when we visited and we couldn’t see the all the vistas we had hoped to take in, we still had a *great* time! 10/10 recommend!

This was the most AMAZING experience. It is completely worth the money you spend! We had a perfect time with Katja in the mountains on Montserrat. I’d recommend this to everyone.

It's was an experiment I will never forget. I went horse riding where I met nice people as a solo traveler, and the hosts Katja and Roger were good and intelligent at what they do. Didn't disappoint and i recommend it.
