Montserrat Horseback Riding & Monastery – Premium Small Group

So much fun!! Marc picked us up in the city and was a wonderful guide to and from the farm as well as through the monastery. The road is very winding and can be rough on people with motion sickness (me!) but it was very, very obvious how careful he was to be smooth and easy with his driving, and he just generally was an upbeat, knowledgeable, and welcoming host. The guides at the farm, Laura, and Gerardo, were also two lovely people who kept us safe and engaged and assigned the appropriate horses to people based on experience. (One of the other riders had a brief issue with a temperamental horse but was also the most experienced rider by far and handled it well. Those of us with little to no experience had much more docile horses, though mine was stubborn when it came to stealing snacks.) Honestly, of everything I did while staying in Barcelona, this was probably my favorite.

This tour exceeded my expectations in every way! Our guide, Jordi, was very knowledgeable & personable. Making sure our party was comfortable and included always! Montserrat is breathtaking & magical. Now, for the horses.. booking one of these tours is always a concern (are the horses treated properly, where will you ride, etc). But, this ranch was lovely. The horses are all loved and cared for. Our guide was amazing and the views were stunning!!

Absolutely loved this experience, it was truly out of the ordinary. Horseback riding with breathtaking Montserrat views was incredible, and visiting the monastery added such a meaningful touch. The hike to the viewpoint was the perfect finale, offering peaceful moments and stunning scenery at the top. Marc was phenomenal, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and attentive, even providing water and sharing great local insights along the way. His hike recommendation was truly the cherry on top. Everything felt well paced and memorable. I would highly recommend Marc and this entire experience to anyone looking for something unique and special, especially for solo travelers like myself.

Wonderful tour of Montserrat, Frank was extremely knowledgeable and had lots of fun facts. Then to be able to ride through the valley on horseback made the whole experience that much better! Would highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to visit the area.

Every thing about the tour was great! Frank was a great guide, he told us all about Montserrat and we got to see amazing views during the short hike and the horse riding was a great way to end the journey! Highly recommended.

This tour was even better than expected. Such a beautiful place and a great experience! Our guide was awesome. He gave us great historical, geological, and religious context. He was warm and personable. Easy pick up and drop off experience with manageable pace. My partner and I had been horseback riding before but several folks on the tour had not. The women who guided the horseback ride gave a great demo before we started. The novice riders had a good time and handled it just fine. Would recommend!

We did the horseback tour today with Frank and it was a great experience. A few things that might help future guests: • Be minimalistic—don’t bring anything extra. • The drive to Montserrat takes about an hour on winding roads (if you get dizzy, ask to sit in the front). • You’ll have about an hour at Montserrat. We didn’t see the Black Madonna, and there was only around 15 minutes for food/restroom before the horseback ride. • From Montserrat, it’s a 30-minute drive to the stables. They have restrooms there. Wear pants, no backpacks, and stay comfortable. • The horseback ride lasts about 1.5 hours. They’ll give you basic instructions, and the guides are very professional. Even though we were nervous first-timers, the horses are well-trained and follow each other, so it felt safe. • It’s an amazing experience, but you do need to be able to get on and manage a horse, so it may be challenging for the elderly. Highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a unique and safe adventure!

This was a fun experience with a knowledgeable guide. We have been horseback riding before but we’re not seasoned riders and we had no issues. I would book with them again.

This has been the absolute highlight of our trip. Perfect for my 16 year-old granddaughter, who had had her fill of walking and talking tours. A friendly group of four other travelers, some patient but well-cared for horses, beautiful scenery and a tour guide (Juan) who drove respectfully, provided us with a thorough background of the areas we visited, and kept us well informed of meeting spots. There was not time to do any hiking, but we had limited time after the tour of the basilica to shop the farmers markets. If you want to spend more than an hour and a half at the monastery ( glad we didn’t as it was swarmed with tourists) I’d suggest another tour. But if you want a beautiful escape from the city to view the mountain from both sides, I strongly recommend this!

Our tour guide Frank was incredible! He was on time, accommodating, spoke great English and made sure that the group was always together before carrying on. He was fantastic!! The horses were AMAZING♥️ they were all super healthy looking, which I was worried about. The horses were so well behaved and sweet. They never went off track and were slow for people who don’t have experience! The background behind the monastery was beautiful! Everything was fantastic!! The hills through the monastery’s were also accessible!

We had such a wonderful time visiting Monsterrat and riding horses in the gorgeous Spanish countryside. I added this to our itinerary at the last minute and I’m so grateful I did. We’d already spent 3 days in Barcelona and wanted to do something different when I came across this tour. The horses were easy to ride so anyone concerned about their riding experience needs not to worry.

While Monserrat was beautiful and the horseback riding okay there were a couple of hiccups that took away from the experience. First, the van we were picked up in was very worn and dirty, which was not ideal but tolerable - until the final drive back into Barcelona that is. After an incredibly long and hot horseback ride we were driven home in the same van but this time withOUT functioning AC. I understand that unpredictable things can happen but the guide/driver made it apparent that this was actually a recurrent issue. If he knew the AC was possiblyiffy on an 90 degree day and that we had just ridden horses for a full hour under the sun, why not greet us with at least some bottles of cold water? He didn't seem very invested in our experience which was unusual for a tour guide. The second issue was the horseback riding - it was slated for one hour which was intolerable for everyone involved given the summer sun. The poor horses were literally sweating so much that our legs were drenched by them as we rode. We all felt awful for them as they were visibly dragging themselves after about 30 minutes. We were told that they'd rest the remainder of the day but it was not humane and I would not have signed up had I known how much they suffered on such a long ride. I honestly didn't know horses well enough prior to this trip to have known but I think the tour operators would have. I hope the van and riding duration are improved - then I could confidently recommend this trip to others!

The guide was friendly and informative. The horseback ride and the saddles were nice. The views were amazing. The van ride had a/c and was comfortable. The guide was the highlight as he was engaging and fun.

We loved our trip to Montserrat. Our tour guide Franko was very friendly and upbeat! The horseback riding trail and our guide Natalia was perfection. We also loved the views at Montserrat. It’s a must see!!

Our tour today was so great! Our guide Frank was super funny and informative and made it a fantastic experience. The horse trail was also lovely with a great guide who made us feel safe to enjoy the ride. I would highly recommend this as an easy way to see Montserrat and do something a bit different than the usual tourist trail in Barcelona. We had a ball!

Such a fun and informative tour. The sights were incredible! Montserrat is a must to visit! My favorite was the horseback riding, the horses were very well trained and you can partake even if you’ve never ridden before.

We enjoyed seeing Montserrat and going for a trail ride. The views are beautiful and the horses are amazing. Frank did an excellent job as our guide and this was definitely the highlight of our trip!

Jordi was our driver and guide at the monastery. He was supper friendly and knowledgeable about the geology of the area and the monastery. The horseback ride was fun but a short stop at the turn around point for a few pictures would have been nice.

Frank was absolutely wonderful! We loved our tour! Was an excellent balance of exploring a bit but also getting a nice amount of information and guidance. The cable car up then hike down was a perfect amount of exercise that we still got to take in incredible views but weren’t left sweating buckets after haha! Would highly recommend this! The pick up and drop off was super nice too!

Every part of this experience was perfect. Our hosts were very professional. The horses were gentle, but responsive and the mountains were incredibly beautiful.

My sister came to visit me in barcelona and I knew I wanted to take her to a special trip and I chose this tour after I've heared great recommendation! I connected with Uni and he was very kind and helpful during all of the trip! We drove from barcelona to the ranch, there we rode for about an hour which was such fun! After that we went to the montserrat. There, uni gave us a very detailed and rich explenation about the history and geography of the place, he was happy to share every piece of knowledge and was happy to answer all of my questions! Then we went inside of the church and skipped the line because we where with a guide (a big plus, to avoid the lines). Then, some of the group went to travel for 40 minutes to see more beautiful views, and we went to the coffee place. After that we got back to barcelona and we were very satisfied with the views we saw, and with the company of the amazing guide! I highly reccomend doing this trip :)

This was an amazing experience. It’s a good way to get out of the city and do something more relaxing but just as interesting. Juan was great with the horses. Before I had limited experience with them but I felt very comfortable with Bogi (the horse). The ride was very scenic. Afterwards we made our way up to Montserrat where there were picturesque views and Uni had a lot to share about this special place. I highly recommend when in Barcelona to give the city a break and have a relaxing day.

It was a wonderful day! The riding tour was very relaxed - the horses totally calm! View in the national park incredibly beautiful. Afterwards the monastery tour : very impressive! Jesus, the guide, explained the great and small confluences of history - what is there today and used to be there - totally exciting! Enough time to make his rounds there alone - never stress!!! He took more time than we thought! Simply recommended!!!!

I recommend it for the whole family, beautiful views, and our Guide Juan was very friendly and had a lot of knowledge on the subjects, he talked about many interesting things and the girls who took us to the horseback ride were also very friendly and cute.
