Jordi was a great tour guide. Very knowledgeable about many things on our hike and at the monastery.

Itinerary
Meet your guide in Barcelona and settle in for the hour-long ride to Montserrat. Our journey begins in the heart of Barcelona, where we'll pass by iconic landmarks such as Paseo de Gracia, Diagonal Avenue, the Royal Palace, the prestigious University of Barcelona, and the legendary Sportive City of FC Barcelona
Enter the majestic Natural Park of Montserrat and ascend the mountain, soaking in the breathtaking views along the way. Montserrat stands as the heart of Catalan tradition, revered for its profound history, religious significance, and rich cultural heritage. At the Montserrat Monastery, begin your cultural journey by exploring the storied past and visiting the Basilica of Santa Maria de Montserrat. Learn about the monks' daily life and marvel at the stunning scenery from the monastery grounds.
Embark on a hike along ancient pilgrimage paths on Montserrat, where you'll experience the diverse flora and fauna of the region. Traverse rocky pillars and ravines, soaking in the mountain air as you navigate both uphill and downhill sections. Learn about the varied surroundings, including geological formations and the unique wildlife that thrives in this remarkable landscape. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views that showcase the natural beauty of Montserrat.
After your hike on Montserrat, you'll have some free time to explore the monastery area. Visit the local market to taste regional specialties, including the famous Montserrat cheeses and other local treats. Enjoy the bustling market atmosphere, perhaps stop by a café for a relaxing break, and explore the souvenir shops. When you're ready, meet back with your guide to journey back to Barcelona by van.
Once we've concluded our visit at the monastery, it's time to relax and make our way back to Barcelona. Enjoy the comfort of our air-conditioned vehicle where you can rest and even take a siesta on the journey back.

We had such a fantastic experience. Pick up was handy and easy to find. Our guide, Jordi, was really knowledgeable, friendly, and relaxed. We loved Montserrat and found the museum particularly interesting with a great display of artworks. The scenery was breathtaking and the farmer’s market allowed us to sample local produce. Looking forward to visiting again.
We had a great guide, Jordi, who took us to Monserrat. Well guided tour with lots of good information about the black Madonna, basillica, history, culture, and nuanced meanings. The hike was cancelled due to the heatwave in July, but we had access to the Museum where we were able to see Monet and Picasso paintings like the "Old fisherman". Beautiful way to end the day. Would recommend Jordi and booking through GYG.
Jordi lead us for the whole trip with lots of introduction and explanation. He will also include some funny games and jokes in between, which make whole trip become much more interesting.
Really nice combination of religious history and outdoor physical activity. Our guide Marc was very informative with both aspects. Perfect day trip from Barcelona!
Was a lovely trip to a very beautiful setting. We saw the essential, learned of the history of the monastery and hermitages and had an enjoyable funicular ride up the mountain and a nice walk down. Our guide was interesting, knowledgeable and very friendly although his English was a bit hard to understand at times.
Awesome day with Jesus our guide. Amazing monastery and then we hiked up and back down being spell bound by flora and fauna and Jesus details about such. All in all, loved it!!!
Jordy was incredible! He was kind, funny, helpful and super knowledgable. We instantly felt comfortable with him. The tour and hike were a great value! The hike isn’t super difficult but you get to see a lot of beautiful things. Very
Amazing experience with Frank! The hike was great with so many amazing views! The history there is rich and Frank shared so much knowledge with us.
Thank you Jordy for a great exploration of Montserrat! We enjoyed learning about the history of the monastery. The hike was a great opportunity to see beyond the gate and experience nature. Your stories really brought the area to life. Thank you!
We had a private tour for our family of 5 with Juan. He was an excellent guide. Juan arrived 5 minutes to pick us up at our hotel in the Gothic Quarter. On the drive from Montserrat Juan provided a history of Barcelona. At Montserrat, he provided a historical summary of the monastery and a lot of information on the natural history of the mountain. We highly recommend Juan as a guide.
Combining a visit to Montserrat monastery with a hike was a perfect half day outing during our week in Barcelona. The tour is very convenient. We met the small group near Casa Batllo in Eixample (about a 20 minute walk from where we were staying) and Uni Tours took care of the rest. Our guide, Juan, was very knowledgable about the area and gave us some history on the 1 hour drive over. He led the group at a great pace but also gave us time to enjoy the gorgeous and inspiring views. The drive home was perfect for a little siesta and we arrived back in Eixample around 3pm refreshed and ready for part 2 of the day. We packed our own lunch but there are places to buy food at Montserrat if you are short on time. I also recommend sneakers with some grip or light hiking shoes/boots for the hike.
Frank is very friendly He explained all we need to know on the trip. It was. A pleasant tour with Frank
Phenomenal experience. Juan was absolutely the best guide with regards to the history and the hike. He pointed out geological features, plants, etc. He was very patient and encouraging of all hiking levels, especially at the steep parts. Always had our safety in mind,
Of all the places we visited and things we did this particular experience was my favorite. I loved the small group and our guide was wonderful. He provided lots of information and history and was very knowledgeable. We knew this involved a hike but didn't realize how high the climb was. Our family members did the hike but my husband and I took the incline railroad. We all met at the top to enjoy the incredible view. I highly recommend this small group tour.
Our guide Juan was very good. As we drove out to the mountain he told us the history of Barcelona and the surrounding areas. Once at Montserrat he took the time to talk about it and we were able to go at our own pace. The hike up was pretty strenuous but we took breaks when needed. I would recommend this for people that are energetic and don’t mind climbing hills. Wear good hiking shoes and bring water. All in all I would recommend this tour.
A fantastic experience. We had a beautiful sunny day which certainly made it even better. Our guide Jesus was very cool and a great people person and very knowledgeable. He tailored the tour to suit everyone in the group. He wanted to ensure everyone enjoyed the experience.
This was one of the best experiences that we have had. The guides were great, the hike had some amazing views and it made for a great day being outdoors.
This was a great experience. Beautiful views, amazing hike, and Uni and Frank our guides were very knowledgeable. Highly recommend if you have a couple of days in Barcelona!
Really great experience with Uni. He was warm, funny and knowledgable. We did this hike with my almost 6 year old and he was very interactive with her which made for a great time.
Small group of only 8 people was perfect. Experienced guide who lived in Montserrat. Good English skills.
We had the best time! Our tour guide Jordy was fabulous and very knowledgeable. We loved the tour and the experience. The scenery was magnificent
This was an excellent tour all the way around. Jordi, our guide, was friendly, attentive, and did a great job. We had a very nice tour of the monastery, and then went on a beautiful hike. . Even though the funicular was broken, Jordi took us to wonderful views and didn’t hike beyond anyone’s capacity. We had a great time. I highly recommend this tour.
Jordy was great!!! He was very nice and very fun and funny along the way easy hike was nice and good views, very informative and interesting
Unforgettable Experience at Montserrat! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I did several tours with Viator while staying in Barcelona, but this was by far the most fun and the one I enjoyed the most. Our guide, Jesús, picked us up at a central location and drove us up to the mountain. From there, half of the group chose to hike while the others took the funicular. The hike is definitely strenuous, but absolutely worth it — the views are breathtaking! Jesús was incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience both informative and enjoyable. I would highly, highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Barcelona. Whether you hike or ride the funicular, Montserrat is a must-see!
It’s was fantastic to be guided by Jesus; what an amazing person, caring, knowledgeable and took such great care of all of us. Arrived on time, drove safely - all in all added to the experience and made it memorable Definitely recommend
We had such a great experience! Frank was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable and patient. And very engaging with our young son.
This was so awesome! Our guide, Frank, was so knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot and the hike was beautiful. Would definitly recommend!!!
This was quite possibly one of my favorite days in our holiday! We were picked up at an easy to find location, got a tour of the monastery, and hiked up above the world. It was awesome and our guide Frank was amazing. Overall very positive experience.
Jordi was an excellent guide that gave us a good hiking experience as well as information about the monastery. We felt we had a great informative session and he engaged our teenage daughters. He modified the hike up to the top of the mountain based on our skill level and also allowed girls to do some scrambling up the rocks. The views were great and we had a wonderful time. I came back to Barcelona specifically to do this hiking experience and it was totally worth it.
Amazing half day tour outside the busy city area of Barcelona. Amazing time seeing an old monastery and cathedral in a quiet and serene atmosphere full of history and end it in a small cable car and hiking back to the Montserrat monastery! Jordi was an amazing guide, funny, knowledgeable and made fun and insightful!! Recommended to de stress and escape the busy city for a while
We loved it! Juan was super friendly and very knowledgeable. The size of the group (8 people) was perfect. The views were amazing. Definitely recommend!
Amazing time! Very kind and knowledgeable guide. Given rest and free time. Lots of shaded areas to stop and rest. Perfect amount of time!
Juan was knowledgeable and shared important historical information about Spain, the Monastery, and the natural environment.
Spectacular experience! The tour guide is very knowledgeable about the region, nature, history and super funny too. Very easy to follow the itinerary with an absolutely joyful atmosphere. Would definitely come back to another experience
This is a 'must-do' trip from Barcelona! Our guide, Frank, was not only knowledgeable but also a professional mountain guide, and we felt safe hiking the surrounding area with him. Montserrat is stunning, but a tour is much more enjoyable when your guide is invested and interested in his or her tour group. I highly recommend Tours by Uni, and I am sure all the guides are uniquely qualified to make your tour special.
Uni and Frank were awesome. They shared alot of history on the ride to monastery and while there. The hike was great and they were both upbeat and encouraging. We had a few people who were moving slower and they came right along with them and encouraged them along the way.great experience
Great experience with knowledgeable guides! The team were considerate, knowledgeable and informative throughout - the perfect balance of guide- lead time and free time
Beautiful hike with a very experienced and knowledgeable guide. The hike itself is moderate with a little more than 500 meters elevation gain. The monastery is crowded even in bad weather. Plan ahead if you want to view the Madonna.
Loved the little tour, especially the hike afterwards. The views were amazing! And the tour guide was knowledgeable and entertaining.
This was an absolutely memorable hike. Franc was amazing in explaining the importance of each monument, mountain, flora and fauna on the way. He even pointed out some mountain goats to us. I would definitely recommend him for a wonderful experience!!!
The trip was great. The day started out really misty and we couldn’t see any sights, but the mist really added to the atmosphere of the monastery, which was beautiful. We were really lucky that a short downpour cleared the skies and we could see the mountains. So worth a visit. Many thanks to our guide, Juan, who was so flexible and such a fantastic planner that he amended our itinerary slightly (changed the order of our sights) which allowed us an amazing view of the montserrat up top. Juan was also incredibly knowledgeable about geography and Catalan history which was prevalent all around the monastery. 10/10
This tour was outstanding! The guides were extremely professional, helpful and organized. I highly recommend!
Enjoyed this outing with Frank (Francesco) and Andreas. They were flexible about each individual’s ability to hike various distances and worked well together. The information they imparted was good and the Abbey and surrounds are absolutely stunning. Meeting, pick up and drop off were all done professionally and with aplomb. Strongly recommended.
The minibus was very prompt. Frank and Giordie (sorry for spelling) were very friendly as were the other people in our group. There were two different groups which were split differently between the bus ride and the actual walk. One route was up the funicular and down the "gentle" slope. The other was up the gentle slope and down the steep route. It was possible to switch while back at the start but not later. There wasn't so much flexibility for us really when on the walk. I was looking the off-piste chapels and vantage points, wanting to explore but it would have meant leaving the group and guide and buying an additional ticket down on the funicular. The pace was calibrated to the slowest walker. Overall, well pitched and we really enjoyed it. Views were fantastic. There is a "tower" cultuiral experience back at the monastery which perhaps drove the pace, though we missed it anyway. To improve, I'd suggest extending the walk by an hour and giving more opportunity/options to explore.
Frank our tour guide was amazing. We had a truly magical day from the views to learning about the monetary. Highly recommend this on your visit to Barcelona, a must do.
Tour guide Jordi was superb. Very knowledgeable and engaging, adding much during both the drives and the time out of the bus. Very well organized tour and lots to see in the allotted time. The hikes are beautiful.
Very nice trip with breathtaking views. Juan is the best guide you could wish for; professional, patient, he knows everything about hiking so you feel safe. Wish that the hiking part last longer. Highly racommend it!
Frank was our tour guide. We met him in Passeig de Gràcia. There were on 6 others on this tour. We traveled an hour to the mountain. We heard of the history first then we toured the grounds and went into the Basilica. We then headed to the funicular and went up to the top, but you could walk up too on a paved path. We looked around up top and when we met the rest our party who walked up we made our way down the mountain and we hiked. It was a pretty hard hike down for my age, but not for the young. This hike down has liads of stairs. It was a wonderful tour. Thank you Frank.
Wonderful tour and tour guides. We enjoyed smelling the rosemary and thyme on the way down and seeing rock climbers on the rock that looks like an elephant.
