Incredible day to see a vineyard and Monserrat! Marcel took excellent care of all of us! Lunch and coffee options are available at Monserrat. I loved the hotel pick up and drop off option! It is a long day so have a good breakfast and maybe pack a water or snack if needed. Also, it gets colder in the mountains than in town so keep that in mind too if you need to bring a jacket. I chose not to and ended up buying a hoodie at the gift shop in the mountains. I loved that the option was there, but just a heads up for others.

Itinerary
Start this tour directly from your hotel or apartment in Barcelona city. We come to pick you up, so please be sure to let us know exactly where you are staying.
Get on the road and head to the mystic mountain of Montserrat. This natural park, with its very peculiar peaks, protects the spiritual essence of Catalonia. For almost 1,000 years, a Benedictine community has lived in these mountains located 60 km away from Barcelona. On the way, listen to some interesting stories about Catalonia and its bounding to the holy mountain, scene of pilgrims since ancient times and part of the route to Santiago de Compostela. Your guide will share important information to understand the heritage you will discover during the tour.
Visit the Basilica of Montserrat, house of the serene image of the Virgin of Montserrat, the patron saint of Catalonia, a polychrome Romanesque carving dating from the 12th century. The legend says that in the year 880 some shepherd boys found a statue of the black madonna, the "Moreneta", in a grotto. A chapel was built on this site that soon became a place of pilgrimage.
Declared a Natural Park in 1987, Montserrat is famous for its rounded rock pinnacles, shaped over millions of years. Follow your guide on an easy walk of around 30 minutes to one of the park’s best viewpoints.
If you wish, you can also decide to visit the Montserrat museum. It has an important section of early paintings, spanning the 13th to the 18th centuries, with works by El Greco, Caravaggio as well as a large collection of Catalan paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries that includes major names such as Fortuny, Rusiñol, Casas, Picasso and Dalí but also of French impressionism such as Chagall, Braque, Le Corbusier, Miró, Dalí and Picasso.
Leave the mountain behind and head down into the Penedès, Catalonia’s leading wine region, where vineyards stretch between the mountains and the Mediterranean. On the way, your guide will explain what makes this land perfect for growing grapes for cava.
Among the many lands of the Penedes Area, we have chosen the most representative of the Cava production: Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, the capital of Cava. You will discover the origins of this sparkling wine in the hometown of the most ancient and traditional wineries, since its wine growing past goes back to almost five centuries of antiquity.

The trip is great, and included much history The guide can was proud of his political opinions, no matter the audience
Our driver was Marcel. There were only 4 of us besides him, and we had a very leisurely tour. Marcel was very informative and helpful, making sure we had the best time at Montserrat despite the crowds that day. We spent the morning at the winery instead because it was Sunday. We love the time spent there. So peacefully quiet as we strolled through the vineyard and got introduced to winemaking. Will recommend definitely.
Great experience topped off with the wine and cava tasting. Tour guide Laura was very knowledgeable and was a great tour guide. Highly recommend Montserrat and Penedes wine tasting.
Fantastic service by Ramon throughout the day
I had Ramon; he was very knowledgeable, and I learned a lot about Barcelona from him. I had a fantastic time and enjoyed the wine tour. I 100% recommend this tour; I had a great time.
Very Disappointing Experience – My Mother's 80th Birthday Ruined by Poor Communication and Unprofessional Service This was supposed to be a very special day for our family as we were celebrating my mother's 80th birthday. Unfortunately, what should have been a wonderful and memorable experience turned into a stressful and disappointing one. When booking this tour, we specifically chose this company because hotel pickup was advertised and included. Given my mother's age, this was extremely important to us and one of the main reasons we selected this tour over other companies. However, the evening before our scheduled tour, we were informed that we would no longer be picked up at our hotel and instead had to meet at a coffee shop. To make matters worse, the coffee shop had three different locations, creating unnecessary confusion when using Google Maps. We initially went toward the closest location, only to discover that the designated meeting point was somewhere else. Making an 80-year-old woman walk to a different meeting location on her birthday was completely unacceptable, especially when we had specifically booked and paid for a tour that included hotel pickup. The company blamed construction for the change, but this was clearly not a last-minute situation. If they were aware of the construction, why weren't we informed when booking or at least given sufficient notice to make other arrangements? Instead, we were notified the night before, when canceling or finding another tour was no longer a practical option. The experience became even more uncomfortable when we finally arrived at the meeting point. We had received a message saying they were running approximately 10 minutes late, yet when we arrived just two minutes after the updated time, our tour guide, Dulce, rolled her eyes, did not introduce herself, and made us feel extremely unwelcome. Both Dulce and the driver created an uncomfortable atmosphere rather than showing the professionalism, patience, and hospitality we expected. Throughout the tour, we also noticed the driver giving my wife unpleasant, intimidating stares when dropping us off at various stops. This made an already disappointing experience even worse. We weren't asking for special treatment. We simply expected the hotel pickup that was advertised, clear communication, and basic courtesy and respect, especially toward an elderly guest celebrating such an important milestone. What disappoints me most is that this was my mother's 80th birthday, a once-in-a-lifetime occasion we had carefully planned. Instead of making her feel welcomed and comfortable, the company created unnecessary stress and made our family feel like an inconvenience. As someone who understands the importance of customer service, I find this level of treatment extremely disappointing. My advice to other travelers, especially families traveling with elderly parents: Be very cautious when booking this company based on its advertised hotel pickup. Confirm everything in writing and be prepared for last-minute changes. A little communication, kindness, and professionalism would have made all the difference. Unfortunately, that was missing from our experience.
We had a lovely day with Eduardo. We really enjoyed the tour of the vineyard where we got to try different natural wines. It was rainy the entire day so we didn’t see the mountains but Eduardo made sure we got the best possible experience. We really enjoyed the tour!
Great day on the tour to Montserrat with Anatoli. His knowledge of the area, the museum art works were outstanding. Always entertaining and knowledgeable, that’s what really made the trip great.
We had an amazing day. We, a group of 6 friends, chose the Montserrat and Penedès Small Group Tour with Hotel Pick Up from Barcelona through In-Out Barcelona Tours. Anatoli was our tour guide. He was engaging, so knowledgeable, organized, relaxed and fun. The day was a special experience with no stress. Anatoli gave us clear options of what we could do and what he felt was worth doing. He stayed with those of us that wanted a more guided time and others had free time to explore. Well worth your time. ASK FOR ANATOLI. THANKS Anatoli, Mark and Kelly (Canada)
Alba was our guide and she was so great! 8 of us on the tour and the hotel pickup was a nice touch. Alba gave us some great history of the Montserrat and then we had time to explore alone. Giulia at the winery was also fantastic and gave such detailed history of the vineyard. Would highly recommend!
We had an excellent travel experience on this tour. The driver picked us up in a nine person van right at the entrance to our rented apartment. He then drove our group up to the Montserrat Monastery where our he gave us a walking tour of the whole area. We then got a couple of hours to spend on our own revisiting some of the places or taking in the views, and some people took a hike. There's a restaurant available to buy food and drinks at the monastery as well. After our visit to the mountain we stopped at a chocolate store to get some treats and then continued to a wine tasting tour at Art Cava
Alba, our guide was fantastic!! From the communication for the pickup through the whole day at the Basilica and the vineyard she gave us history and facts that enhanced the experience. She was friendly and had great recommendations!
I can't say enough about how wonderful this tour was today. Our tour guide Gaspard picked us up right at our rented apartment and was an exceptional tour guide the entire day. He guided us around Montserrat and gave us ideas of things to do. We then each had two hours to roam around and do things outside of the tour group. After our Montserrat tour we visited a chocolate store and then had an awesome tour at A Kava vineyard. Everything was wonderful!
Miguel was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and a great driver. We had beautiful conditions in the morning on Montserrat however the weather turned in the afternoon. Lovely to be inside at the winery with our great host. Lovely wines and venue. Highly recommend despite the dad jokes.
Great day. Miguel is a very knowledgeable tour guide and excellent driver.pleasant
The guide and driver were very enthusiastic and very pro-Catalan. They both made our whole day most enjoyable by their amiability and local knowledge. We had a great time and would recommend this combined trip. Good choice for lunchtime meal. Excellent wine tour with their tour staff really friendly.
Great tour with Vincent and Joaquin! We loved the historic family winery they chose for our wine tasting! Great wines with rich local history. Knowledgeable guide with great tips.
Highly recommend this small group tour, especially if you like views, food & wine. Vincent was a wonderful guide full of knowledge & Joaquin an awesome driver particularly on the windy rural road & in the Barcelona peak.
Anatoli was a wonderful guide. So kind and knowledgeable. We enjoyed our trip to Montserrat.
Anatoli was a wonderful guide and vey knowledgeable! Well worth doing!
It has been a wonderful trip. Tour guide MARCEL is very professional.
We had a fabulous trip with Marcel. He met us when he said that he would and provided a great tour. He made the necessary adjustments to our schedule in order to ensure that we got to do everything that we wanted and had enough time at each stop. One member of our has an injury that makes walking difficult so Marcel made accommodations for that issue. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour and Marcel as a guide.
Ramon was wonderful. We were with another couple from Brazil and he translated between both languages and was able to create a great experience for us all! His knowledge of the area from living here was greatly appreciated. Monserrat was breathtaking.
A very nice experience and it was nice seeing new places, the tour guide Rodrigo was very active and responsive.
We had a great time with Marcel. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Barcelona and also Monserrat. Very kind and informative.
10 on 10. All the tour was amazing. Like our guide Eduardo says; we need more wine. 😉

Exceptionally good guide, was able to both explain the Monserrat area well and get us into activties near the Monastery even last minute. Additionally, the winery stop was great on top of the town/monastery. Would highly recommend David!
Alba was really helpful and great, she taught us a lot about Montserrat, the legends and it made us really appreciate the views more
Our guide Alba was great - friendly, well-informed, excellent driver, very accommodating & easy to be with. Small group of only 5 English speaking people was ideal with Alba also fluent.
Our tour guide was Nuri and she was awesome!! Very informative and very funny. We loved also the wine tasting session. Thank you Nuri!

Eduardo was great. He was very informative and funny and made the trip worth it. He drive carefully and was prompt and dropped us off in front of the hotel and he gave us several suggestions for restaurants and other places to checkout. Well worth it !!!!!! We would definitely book with him again.
We had the beat day with our Guide Nuri. It was supposed to be a small group however the other couple was unable to attend so we had a private tour. She was so attentive, so knowledgeable and very funny. She was also very flexible with us and gave us tips for food and places to visit.
Great wine and cava tasting at a beautiful vignard, excellent local lunch and the greatest time at the Monastery of Monserrat, Mario is a great tour guide
Our guide was incredibly friendly, and the visits were truly fascinating. Montserrat was simply perfect, and the tour followed by the wine tasting at El Cep Winery was top-notch!

Alex is an amazing tour guide for Monserrat, Alex shared his passion and so much knowledge of Monserrat, The beauty of the area is stunning. A must do when visiting Barcelona.
Alex was a fantastic guide, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole tour enjoyable from start to finish. The visit to Montserrat was well organized, and we learned so much while having a great time. Highly recommended!
Worth the experience Great view and fantastic atmosphere from up there
We had a wonderful tour guide name Alex. He picked us up at our hotel and drove us safely to our destination. He shared a lot of information and made our experience even more wonderful!
We really enjoyed our trip to Montserrat. Pick up and transport made the trip easy. We enjoyed a brief tour of Montserrat and the church with ample free time to explore on our own. Our guide, Eduardo was tremendous, incredibly friendly and highly knowledgeable about the general area, Catalan history and of course Montserrat. Take note that almost everything in Montserrat requires a fee and/or a reservation, including seeing the Black Madonna up close. Reserve these activities ahead of time as they may sell out and are not included in your tour price. We were on a tour for the first hour or so once we reached Montserrat then had about 2.5 hours on our own so schedule any other activities accordingly. The vineyard visit and tour was fascinating, one of the oldest Cava makers in the region and the tasting was very enjoyable. Winery staff were very friendly and welcoming. A really enjoyable day during our Barcelona visit and we highly recommend.
Our guide Marcel was so knowledgeable about Monserrat. Had a great trip up the mountain. Views were great. The winery was wonderful. It was a holiday and Marcel purchased us a special cake for that holiday. We had a great time. Highly recommend this trip!
4 girls from Houston, TX. We really enjoyed our day with Marcel! He was extremely informative, kind, and knowledgable. He took great care of us. We really enjoyed the Montserrat hike. Would recommend to anyone interested! Lots of walking, come prepared!
A wonderful tour led by Nuria. She filled us with great information and tips. Her recommendation for seeing the Black Madonna and Cross of St Michael made it a blessed experience. Thank you
Nuri was an amazing guide. Nothing was too much trouble & she went above & beyond, taking us to other places as well. Highly recommend
