Paol our driver went above and beyond. He deserves endless stars. Friendly, helpful and just the best! With that said Viator and Local Cool Tour deserve a zero.. i accidentally booked the wrong date on app and immediately realized and tried calling. Viator had terrible customer service but Local Cool Tour had zero response. Nobody was able to reach them. No answer to this day to my emails. Viator should not represent a company that can’t respond. I ended up going on my private tour that cost alot of money as did want to lose what I paid for. Very disappointing for the amount I spent that Viator nor I could reach Local Cool Tour.

Paolo was amazing! We went to 2 vineyards and then Montserrat, it was an amazing day. Custom to what we wanted to see with so much information… we can’t wait to recommend our friends when they come in Barcelona & I hope we come back and do another tour. Thank you for an unforgettable day
The tour guide Pau collected us from the hotel was punctual, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He fully explained the suggested itinerary however was more than happy to accommodate any wishes we had. The guided tour of the winery was an absolute pleasure, a wonderful experience and probably the best wine experience we have ever had. Lunch was a traditional meal in a local restaurant and Pau was outstanding in supporting Susan who is gluten intolerant The visit to the Montserrat Monastery was a treat but the visit was taken up many levels by Pau whose knowledge and enthusiasm was the staring lighting the visit Cannot recommend this tour more highly
Fantastic day. Pau was an excellent guide that provided a lot of thr history on the drive and great insights into the monestary. We had a fabulous meal and a great tasting in the cellar. The winery was a great tour and a true expert providing the insights into the whole region. Was a fantastic day
Pau was wonderful! He was very knowledgeable about the area and history. He made sure that we saw the monastery, did the pilgrimage St. Micheal’s cross, La Morenetta, lunch at local winery and a winery tour! We enjoyed the tour so much we are planning a return trip! Make sure to ask Pau about his love of music and dance!
Guide Pau is totally knowleable in the history and details of Monserrat. He took us to a great lunch and CAVA wine tasting. He is an excellent tour guide with good English skills.
We had a fabulous day with Paolo, our tour guide. He picked our private group of 4 women up at our hotel at 9:00 a.m. On our way to the vineyard Llopart, Paolo told us the history of Barcelona and the beautiful countryside and towns we passed. The tour of Llopart was fantastic and our guide there was so entertaining and enthusiastic. Paolo picked us up after the tour and we ate lunch the beautiful restaurant before heading to Montserrat. The drive up was gorgeous, even in the rain. (To the vineyard and Montserrat, the roads are VERY windy, we were extremely glad we had taken anti-nausea medicine) Paolo dropped us off as close as possible due to rain and then caught up with us to make sure we found our way in and had our tickets. The tour of the Abby was completely worth braving the weather and the cloud cover on the mountain gave it a surreal aura. Paolo met us at the exit and we returned to the hotel. He was so patient and kind, even though we are not a calm and quiet group of travelers! Highly recommend!!!
We had an incredible day with Fred as our tour guide! He was so knowledgeable about the area, and his passion for sharing its history and culture made the experience truly special. The winery visit was a highlight—beautiful scenery and delicious wines that we thoroughly enjoyed. Lunch at the restaurant was equally fantastic, with every bite as good as the last. The Montserrat tour exceeded our expectations with breathtaking views and fascinating stories. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for an unforgettable day. Thank you, Fred, for a wonderful experience!
The winery was great -- this was the only part of the tour that was. The restaurant we had lunch at was in a small town and it was awful -- it was not the restaurant that was described in the write up. Never made it Montserrat because the traffic was horrible on a Sunday (wish we had known that). However, our guide, Pedro, was very nice.
My husband and I had a great day with Andy. He is very knowledgeable of Barcelona’s history and shared it with us throughout the tour. It was very beautiful at Montserrat and we enjoyed walking around and soaking it all in. Andy was able to get us in to attend the mass/service and the highlight was to take the special tour to see the sanctuary while the boys choir performed. We had a great lunch at a local town and then enjoyed a tour of a cava vineyard. We recommend this tour with Andy.
My favorite part was the wine tasting experience! It was Soooooo elevated! It was exceptional, but Pau, our guide brought it to the next level!!!! His knowledge of the Catalon culture and history, and all of the cultural nuances was amazing, I consider him a friend he’s so incredibly engaged! I would do it again and again!!!!
Pau was a fantastic guide. We were 2 couples (in our active 60's). Picked us up at hotel in Barcelona, and drove to the monastery. A bit cloudy, but also nearby mountains were cool & mysterious. We did a hike, toured the chapel, saw the madonna, heard the boys choir, and took in beautiful views as sun started to come out. Then off to nearby restaurant for lunch and wine tasting + tour in afternoon, which was also fascinating. Pau was a great guide, driver, and story teller, very personable and engaging (ask about his music and dance background). I highly recommend him to lead this tour!
Pedro our tour guide is as very informative and kind. He was fantastic. Highly recommend. The restaurant we were taking to had amazing food.
This trip was all that we had hoped for. The day was fantastically planned, we had time to do exactly what we wanted and we learned from a local - Pau who was simply spectacular. Wear comfortable shoes and take the walk out to St. Michael’s Cross, where the views of the entire region are really amazing. The monastery is quite beautiful, and the boys choir sound like angels. Our lunch was delicious and at a charming local family owned restaurant. We found the private tour provided the flexibility needed to enjoy the entire experience at our own pace. Our discussions with Pau were informative and FUN! He has a passion for his city and is worldly and well traveled to provide context and comparisons to other places he has been. The Vineyard tour also fantastic and our guide very knowledgeable providing a great deal of detail without overwhelming us. The winery we visited produces primarily sparkling wines - which was perfect refreshment on our warm Spring day. Overall a perfect day.
What an amazing place to visit! Pau did an amazing job from start to finish! Great communication in advance, very knowledgeable, and smooth schedule. He even had car seats for the kids! We did not know how special and important Monserrat was so we’re so glad we had a private tour! Hiking the area is lovely, the market was a fun stop, lunch was delicious, and the wine tasting was lovely! Would highly recommend!
The scenic cable ride from the Monastery to the vineyard. The tour of the vineyard was very interesting.
This was a wonderful experience. Pau was an absolutely fantastic tour guide. He was on time to pick us up, attentive and very personable. He shared so much information with us and worked hard to tailor the trip to us and what we wanted to do and experience. He took us to a perfect local family owned and ran restaurant for lunch. Montserrat was beautiful and the history was very interesting. The wines we tasted at the winery were excellent, though the education was slightly lacking as the guide there was young and still learning, however; it was still a great experience overall. This is a higher priced tour, but it was worth it for the private guide and private transportation as well as the terrific experiences.
Frederick was wonderful-he was professional and kind and hit the perfect note of providing lots of historical information yet not being overbearing. The three stops were spectacular- and we spent just right amount of time at each stop. We were a group of 4 - mom dad and 2 kids in their late 20’sA really lovely day for all.
Our tour was very informative and exciting. We had a wonderful lunch at the base of the mountain and the architectural beauty was stunning. Special thanks to our friendly and informative driver Sebastien.
The Experience was extraordinary the tour in Llopart cava winery not too far from mountain Monserrat was amazing with so much knowledge and detail of each wine and sparkling champagne bottle this young man his name is Roger took us on the field showing us each Grape tree from the most expensive to the regular wine and champagne he took us through the wine cellar and explained every detail even things I didn’t know me and my wife loved it we took 2 bottles , thank you so much Roger for that extraordinary experience keep up the good work we go back to Puerto Rico with better knowledge then what we had.
Great scenery and good information. You have to find your way to the black Madonna on your own, but it wasn’t too bad. Wine tasting at the end was a little rushed because we wanted to get back to Barcelona, but held outside in the beautiful grounds of the winery.
Our tour guide Pau. Very attentive and knowledgeable. He made the trip great. The part I didn’t like is this annoying survey that keeps asking me to provide, “a little bit more”, before I can submit, therefore I am providing this complaint so that I can submit this survey.
The visit to Monserrat was a cluster to say the least. Upon arrival our driver gave us vouchers to see the Black Madonna. The time on ticket was 12:45. We were then told we had to leave at 12:40 in order to make our lunch reservation. We of course were upset. Our guide then proceeded to tell us we could go buy another ticket for an additional 8.00 euros and get in earlier. We ask about museum and we’re told we could buy an additional ticket for 18.00 euros After discussing with ticket office we were offered to buy the two tickets but we’re told there was not enough time to see it along with the Madonna and leave by 12:40. Not enough time to walk to the cross or ride the funicular. When we complained snd questioned we were told it was the best he could do. Well if that’s the best??? We saw practically nothing. I must say the restaurant for lunch was lovely snd tasty As was the tasting experience. However this was quite an expensive tour and all we really got was lunch and wine tasting. I would give a zero for guide and the way this tour was handled. I’m considering not booking with viator for future trips if this is the kind of guides to expect. Also the aircondityin the vehicle did not work. Very hot and uncomfortable.
It’s my second time to Montserrat but seeing it again and hearing the history behind it again from Fred our guide brought back nice memories .. he is very knowledgeable as well. Visiting an organic Cava vineyard was also a great experience - learnt ALOT about the processes that goes into making cava! Fred is very accommodating and offers info on sights we see along the way and places we pass by etc .
Pedro met us promptly at our hotel. The drive to Montserrat was beautiful. Pedro was well informed and answered our random questions along the drive. The tour of the monastery was beautiful. We then had a marvelous lunch at a restaurant, finishing with hand-made ice creams. Then to LLopart Cava winery. An excellent tour led by Roger, finishing with a tasting that was phenomenal. We're having cava shipped home.
We had a fabulous day with Pao as our guide. He made what is a good tour, a fantastic tour, so informative and friendly. We left the day feeling like we met a new friend. I would suggest this tour to anyone
Fred was an excellent tour guide and the entire day was lovely! Highly recommend this tour if you want to stay away from the large group/bus scene. Nicely timed, relaxing and we got to see attractions that we probably wouldn’t if we didn’t take this tour. Fred was friendly and accommodating making us feel comfortable even when we wanted to zone out with a bit of quiet reflection.
The private tour guide was great, very knowledgable and friendly, a great way to see Montserrat. The Llopart Winery guide was also great along with the experience of tasting a sparkling wine that easily matches champagne…. The only criticism would be that the car used for the private tour could have been better.
Full day of great activities! It was such a fun and unique experience and our tour guide was amazing. His knowledge throughout the whole day was perfect.
Horrible experience. Half an hour before departure, the tour conductor informs me that they will be arriving about 60 minutes late. About 30 minutes after departure time, the tour conductor informs you that the car has broken down and will be a little later. After waiting for more time and not hearing from him, I canceled the tour and arranged a cab by myself. You should have prepared for this, including a rental car, etc. It was the worst thing that could have happened to our precious day of sightseeing.
This was a really great experience. Pablo took great care of us, was very knowledgeable about the area, and above all made sure we had an excellent time. The winery tour and tasting was really great, the Catalonian lunch felt like a family meal and having a Pablo lead us through Montserrat and point out some of the best places to get pictures and take in the views was awesome. Overall, a spectacular day!
Paulo was a great guide and provided a lot of details about the places we visited. I highly recommend this tour
Wonderful trip. Picked up on time right in front of our hotel. Enjoyable and engaging tour of a winery followed by the most delightful lunch we had in Spain! Our tour guides Fred and Paulo. could not have been better hosts! After that, because of the bad weather, we had the monastery all to ourselves which was a once in a lifetime experience.
We were in Barcelona for a wedding and decided to take this day trip. There were 8 of us on this tour, and we all LOVED it! Our tour guide was fantastic. Fred was friendly and knowledgeable, and we definitely appreciated his expertise. Montserrat was beautiful in so many ways. The scenery was amazing, the basilica was impressive, and the area is so steeped in history. After Monserrat, our guide took us a to restaurant that served us a three course lunch The food was delicious and the restaurant was in a beautiful location. Then we went on to the wine tour. This too was a fantastic experience. We learned so much about the history of the winery and vineyard, and this too was a private tour just for our group. We learned so much and saw so much on this day trip. We definitely enjoyed every part of our day. We give this tour an A+ rating. If you are in Barcelona and have time for a day trip outside the city, we highly recommend this tour.
Fred was amazing. We didn’t have the best circumstances because of weather and fog. But we made the best of it! And the restaurant we had lunch at was fabulous. Along with the Cava! Would definitely recommend this tour! Worth every penny! Thank you!
