This was an absolutely amazing way to spend my last day in Barcelona. The trip to Mont serrat wasn’t too long - only about an hour in the bus, and the whole bus ride there and back had incredible views. The trip was well organized, and the tour guide, Carla was amazing with a contagious, upbeat personality. Her knowledge added to the tour both at the Monsarrat monastery and during the wine and tapas experience. I’ve done three different tours via Viator and this one I would recommend hands-down to anybody visiting Barcelona 🙌🏽

Enjoy a guided tour in Montserrat and visit all the highlights of the monastery by the hand of your local tour guide. You will then enjoy some free time to a palate some traditional foods made by Montserrat monks or farmers, as well as soaking in this special place where nature, culture and spirituality meet. Meet your tour guide again to get on board for the second part of the tour. Oller del Mas cellar awaits!
Set within a 10th-century castle, Oller del Mas is not a common winery – its superb ecological wines have earned plenty of awards in the recent years. In fact, one of its wines won the “Best Wine in Catalonia” award in 2018. But the cellar is not only special for its wines. You will take a stroll by the vineyards, learn how the wine is made, and discover all of its secrets. The winery has revived ancient local grape varieties, providing a unique glimpse into the region's heritage. *We work daily with different low-production, family-owned boutique wineries. Due to logistic reasons, you might visit another cellar instead of Oller del Mas.

Luca was a wonderful guide! He was friendly, personable and quite knowledgeable about the region, Monserrat, the monks, and the wine! Such a unique and enjoyable experience. 100% recommend this if you like history, art and culture.
Luca did a terrific job. Well worth the price as well.
This tour and tour guide Anays was perfect! The description and expectations were exactly what we wanted. She was excellent in her communication skills as well as knowledge about the tour. We enjoyed this very much!
The whole experience was well organized and efficient. The tour was well timed, giving us adequate free time without feeling rushed. Our guide Kyra was professional, very knowledgeable and passionate about her Catalonian culture. The information she provided was interesting and relevant - we learned a lot! She had a great sense of humour and made the tour fun! Even her tour identifier was fun- Follow YOLO. The buses were clean and comfortable, and our driver Joseph kept us safe with a smooth drive. Montserrat itself was beautiful with a rich history that is a must-see when visiting Barcelona. Highly recommend the walk to St. Michael’s cross for stunning views. The Oller del Mas vineyard experience was excellent with a delicious lunch, plentiful wine and stunning views of Monserrat…a perfect end to an excellent day. We highly recommend this tour. The reviews on Trip Advisor are accurate. Thank you Kyra and team for a memorable day!
I was happy with the guide and absolutely loved Montserrat but this is not a small group tour , the bus to the train was full up to 80 people from different tours, when we got off the bus there were then about 20 in our group still not small but ok, we finished tour at 1.30 the bus then filled up again to about 80 and it took 2 hours to come as the bus dropped and picked others up from the wineries False advertising in my opinion
Excellent tour! Would definitely recommend, Montserrat is definitely worth seeinfy - beautiful. Wine and tapas were a great end to the tour.
Everything was amazing. The sights & history, the architecture, everything was breathtaking. Kyra made it an unforgettable experience. She was so knowledgeable & such a good personality. 10/10
We had a great experience today. Tour was amazing, with special thanks to our guide Carla!
Had a great time on the tour, our guide Thais was truly amazing! She was knowledgeable and funny. The wine was also really good.
Anthony was great. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. This tour had enough time to let you see everything, not too much to get bored and not too little to seemed rushed. Recommend
Breathtaking views. Fabulous hiking opportunities. Unbelievable photo opportunities. Worth getting out of the city. The basilica was beautiful.
Montserrat is a very special place and our guide Thais was very passionate and informative about the place . We had a separate guide for the winery and tapas lunch and Anthony was equally informative about our wines we tasted . Lovely trip and back in the city by 5.15pm .
Lesly was a breath of fresh air. Her sense of humor, her history expertise, her storytelling abilities made it a very enjoyable day.
Carla was amazing, has fantastic knowledge of wines and had a great sense of humour! She took great care of us throughout the tour and We really enjoyed it!
We did the cogwheel train and monastery tour. Vince was a fantastic guide would shared many ideas and was passionate about his history and faith. The train ride was okay. Windows very dirty. The ride both to and from Barcelona was well narrated. Train station easy to find.
All the tour guides were knowledgeable and entertaining. Just too much to see in one trip. Would highly recommend.
Wonderful time! So much to see. Our tour guide Carla was amazing!! Carla was knowledgeable about the history of Monserrat and everything about the winery. She was friendly, helpful and funny. Thanks Carla for a great day!!
Carla our tour guide was great! We had a lovely time learning and exploring the monastery and church at Monserrat, and lived the castle winery experience! Carla really made it a special experience. I would highly recommend this tour and can’t give Carla enough stars for how enjoyable she made the whole day!
From the start at the bus station to the ride to Montserrat all went super smooth and our tour guide Vince was spectacular the explanation of everything was amazing thank you Vince!!! From Florida and Chicago
Thais was very knowledgeable, friendly and relatable. Really enjoyed our day even in the rain!
What a beautiful day at Montserrat. It was a perfect day for the scenery and a mass for All Saint’s Day. Our guide Lesly was knowledgeable and gave us a lot of great information, in addition to being a lot of fun. Lunch at the winery was also a good experience at a beautiful location with views of Montserrat. There was plenty of free time in each location.
What a fabulous day! Magical, jaw dropping landscapes paired with spiritual solemnity. The wine tasting (at a castle no less) was unique and a great communal experience. Our guide Kyra was next level. Don’t miss this one!
I’m so glad we chose this particular tour. Our guide, Yerai, was fantastic- knowledgeable, passionate, and also engaging. Bus and train transportation was smooth and well organized. We never had to wonder where we were going or what we were doing next. We received good historic context for what we saw in Monserrat and had ample spare time to explore, hike, shop or take photographs on our own. Yerai was also our guide at the winery for the wine tasting and tapas. I was personally glad we chose the tapas option instead of the full lunch. Our tour group was small, and we had an amazing room inside the castle all to ourselves. The group there at the same time who was having lunch was in a larger, noisier venue space. After lunch, we again had time to walk around and take photographs at the winery or enjoy a glass of wine at their wine bar. This ranks as one of the top tours we have done on a 10 day vacation from Rome to Barcelona. was great to sit back, relax and let someone else take care of the logistics.
We had an amazing experience with Yerai! It was the perfect mix of history, food, and wine.
Kyra and team were delightful, extremely thoughtful and do educational!! One of the best tours we have done. She gave us plenty of time to enjoy the sights and directed us to be able to experience everything well!
Liao was professional , friendly and helpful.
It was a very beautiful day at the church and winery. Beautiful views and a great tour guide Laia! She was very knowledgeable and fun all day long!
Great value for money, the guides were funny but had a lot of knowledge. The timeline was well organised, could see everything without being rushed.
It’s a great day tour. Carla did a great job talking about the history of the area. She created a sense of fun for everyone.
Mariana was wonderful! We really enjoyed her passion for sharing the history of Monserrat and Catalonia! Highly recommended! Castle Tours was great in general.
This tour was wonderful and our guide Marianna was extremely entertaining when explaining the culture. We were given the opportunity to look around on our own which we enjoyed. The only one piece of advice would be sure to wear good walking shoes and know, if your walking to the cross, it is steep uphill.
You must take this tour. It is so beautiful being surrounded by the mountains and such history. Lesly was a terrific tour guide, so knowledgeable and kind. I got a kick out of her little dragon she holds up to find her. She is great fun and made the experience unforgettable.
Experience was excellent! Full day of fun! Great value! Kept us on track and kept track of all us! Great day! Highly recommend!
Took this tour with Castle Wine tours booked through Tripadvisor. Had to change the date which was extremely easy. The tour was great-no waiting in line to park, pay, enter the basilica with the tour. The tapas and wine was very enjoyable. Our guide Lesly made it especially enjoyable. She was interesting, funny, and relayed history in a meaningful way.
Our tour guide Lesly was fantastic!! She was so knowledgeable about both Montserrat and wine varieties
If you want to see the Black Madonna, there is only one entry to use into the basilica, not the main doors.
This was a fascinating natural phenomenon and location. The wine tasting was also informative and relaxing. Our guide, Yerbai, was organized, very informative about the location and had a great sense of humor. He’s an excellent communicator and handled the tourists well. Our time was well spent.
Yiorgos was our guide. He was absolutely wonderful! Gave everybody lots of attention, was very informative and made the whole trip. Super fun! He is a treasure!
It was a nice relaxing day w good people. Etienne and Chisvley were awesome. Funny, knowledgeable, approachable & accommodating. They made the day an experience to remember
Carla did an amazing job of explaining the history of Montserrat. She gave us recommendations and had a very upbeat energy!
Anthony was great. Knowledgeable and entertaining. Highly recommended this tour.
Papa Bear is the best guide. Very friendly and funny.
Scenic drive up to the mountain top with the cog-wheel train. Our English speaking tour guide Xavi was informative & knowledgeable with good jokes and sense humor. He maintained an easy pace - highly recommend
Excellent experience. Carla was a fantastic guide. She was very knowledgeable, friendly and funny. We had a great time!
Papa Bear was a great guide! Had great info, funny jokes and wine tasting was great!
It's well worth the price. Kyra is super helpful and informative
It was a fun day with Etienne. He was very informative and entertaining.
Montserrat with Cogwheel Train, Food & Wine Tour – 8/10 Stars This was a very enjoyable excursion and a great way to experience Montserrat. The highlight of the tour was definitely the scenic cogwheel train ride. The views of the mountains and surrounding countryside were spectacular, and the journey itself was a memorable part of the experience. The visit to the Montserrat Basilica and chapel was equally impressive. The architecture, history, and peaceful atmosphere made it a worthwhile stop, and the mountain setting is absolutely stunning. The food and wine portion of the tour was decent, but it didn't quite stand out compared to the rest of the experience. The meal was good enough, and the wine tasting was pleasant, but the real stars of the day were the beautiful scenery and the visit to Montserrat itself. Our guide Anayas was very good and knowledgeable. Her passion for wine was contagious. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to see Montserrat and experience the cogwheel train. While the food was just okay, the incredible views and historic chapel made the excursion well worth it.
This was an excellent tour with a very knowledgeable guide and staff. They made the visit easy, fun, and relaxing. I would recommend this trip to anyone. You would not regret it! Tjay
