It was beautiful don’t get me wrong. But at the end of the day it really was just another pile of bricks. Nothing to really write home about.

I enjoyed the history, however, I expected a little more description of what I was seeing as I went through the castle.
The castle is cool and well kept, but the view is what makes it well worth it.
We took an Uber to the top- highly recommend this unless you are a mountain goat! The castle/fort was very quiet, not many tourists. Beautiful views!
Definitely worth the visit on the hill. The history, museum and views held our interest the entire 2 hours we were there! The views…
Quiet place. Not much to see. Museum part is most interesting. Long walk up from Para-Llelsp. Many stairs
The castle is a great place to visit. It is a very large structure and it has been restored beautifully. I highly recommend going there. The view from there is the best there is and a wonderful experience. Just get the ticket there - it is only 12 E, Viator charged $25 E - not good business
There was no barcode at the site to initiate the audio tour. The website that was provided in the emails was non-responsive. When we finally did succeed in connecting to the website, it was not a digital tour of the site but was instead a narrative history of the sight. We found better and more comprehensive information in the facility’s on site museum.
We did not get the 1 hours digital audio. When I asked about it she said it was for the cable car. And if I wanted it for the castle it would cost 3 more euros. There were beautiful views from the fort. But otherwise it was somewhat boring. I did pay extra to go down the hill on cable car which is worth it for the views!
We visited Montjuïc Castle as a family and loved the calm atmosphere away from the busy city, with plenty of space for the kids to explore safely. The views over Barcelona and the sea were absolutely beautiful, and we really enjoyed taking our time walking around together.
This was very disappointing. There was very little to see and many areas where closed i guess. We walked around for about 30 minutes then left. Would not suggest it to friends.
Montjuïc Castle offers a fascinating glimpse into Barcelona’s history, with well-preserved fortifications and informative displays. The panoramic views of the city and harbor from the castle terraces are absolutely breathtaking, making every step up the hill worthwhile. The experience combines culture, history, and scenery in a truly memorable way.
Visiting Montjuïc Castle was a pleasant experience, especially for the stunning panoramic views over Barcelona and the sea. The entry process was smooth and the self-guided visit allowed us to explore at our own pace.
Visiting Montjuïc Castle was an amazing experience — the historic fortress sits high above Barcelona and offers absolutely stunning panoramic views of the city and the sea. Exploring the castle grounds and exhibitions was both interesting and relaxing, and the ticket made entry simple and hassle-free. A fantastic stop in Barcelona and easily a five-star experience!
Montjuïc Castle was an unforgettable experience and one of the best panoramic spots in Barcelona. The location alone makes it worth the visit — perched high above the city, the views over the harbor, the Mediterranean Sea, and the skyline are absolutely breathtaking.
It’s okay. In November a lot of it was under construction. Not many signs or explanations of the castle.
Great area to walk and view fortress. Beautiful views of the city. Easy to navigate from tram and friendly staff.
We could not understand the guide. We were very disappointed the lack the guides English. He did not provide clear descriptions.
This was a fort. You don't need to buy tickets ahead of time if you are not going during high season. We went in October and there was no line until we were leaving around 1 p.m. It is an interesting fort but not spectacular.
Getting to the castle is much more strenuous than said. Extremely steep incline and steps to go up. There is really nothing there to see but the panoramic view of the city.
The Castle and the old Fort were well worth our time to see. This is a self-guided tour, and there was no line to buy tickets when we entered. You don't need to purchase tickets in advance - go when you want to.
I thought there would be more to see at the castle but it is still cool to go in the cable car and walk around the grounds. My teens liked seeing the dungeons.
Loved the history we learned on this tour! Skip the line was nice, but not really necessary at this time of year. Couldn’t get audio to work on my phone, so I would suggest renting the audio guide there.
Tickets were for the last hour. Showed up and exhibits were closed and they were discouraging travelers without tickets saying they only had time to go up to the top level. No self tour details. Minimal experience for expensive prices. Only bathrooms available closed 20 minutes before closing.
This was 3 stars at best! I agree with many of the other reviews where I thought of this as a castle and not just a fort. There was not much to see within the fort, although i did get a great view of the city and ocean. Please make note that unless you are driving up the mountain you have essentially 2 other options, which is to walk up and down by foot or pay $17 euros an adult for a round trip on the sky tram right outside of the subway. This amount is not included in your ticket entry fee, in case you're wondering like I did. In addition, I had tickets for 6:30pm entry but got there around 4pm and was allowed in with no problem, so if you go early thats not going to be a problem. But to be honest, I didn't actually need to buy skip the line entry for this, as there was absolutely nobody in line at all when I got to the location. There was one line for those wanting to purchase in person and a second line for those that purchased online. Regardless, both were empty, we walked right in. I can't guarantee it is always like this, but it appeared to be so.
The audio tour isn’t included in the price hurts only 3 euros per person. Go early and there aren’t a lot of people there. The views are unmatched and the audio tour was great! We took a taxi up and cable cars down. Great experience- there is no gift shop there at this time
I would never book this again. We paid 10 euros more on here than we would have in person. Part of the castle was closed due to the hour that we went (something that they could have warned us of/mentioned on Viator) and it did not in fact include an audio tour. Would not recommend and I, personally, will not use Viator again.
Ok, first things first getting there take the cable car up if you can amazing views and quick trip. Only do a one way. On the way down take bus 150 takes you to Espanya metro stop where you can get buses or the metro. Montjuic is a very cool structure. I did the cheapest ticket which is entrance and an audio tour on headphones through your phone so your own headphones. The self guided tour was interesting. It was a little over an hour long and gave a good history as you walked through, on and all about the fortress. It has amazing views of Barcelona for some good pictures.
Came with my husband & we had a great time. What an amazing castle! Love the view from the top. We could stay there all day.
A history buff would love this. The stories told in each of the rooms made me want to go further into learning about past wars.
Husband sick, so I went by my self. The audio guide was good to have, except that there were no numbers to relate to the audio map. For example, 1,2,3 were to be pushed together to hear the commentary, but a display was not present for 1,2,3. The history was interesting, but I believe one needs to appreciate forts/military/history to enjoy this. The rooms at the Castle were mostly bare, not much visualization. Nothing related to throne or monarchy being there. I think I confused the Castle with the Palace. The view was amazing.
For me personally, the castle dont offer nothing to see, most of the dors closed and where was open mostly photos... only best thing it's the view on the city and you don't need to pay for that , you can have the view form outside the castle 😉
It was a great experience to visit this beautiful Castle. The view is magical from the garden to the see. Use cable to come up to visit it
The views were amazing and the cable car ride up the mountain was a great way to travel up the mountain in the heat. This trip was a spontaneous addition to our cable car trip across the harbour.
Was a great experience to learn about the history and view was amazing from the castle. But I think the audio tour needed to be more structured around each part of the castle.
This was a waste of money. There was no line to begin with and this is not the entrance ticket. So completely useless. And we could have bought the tickets in place no need to get them in advance.
When we arrived we were charged $25 per person when the basic ticket is 12. Why would you charge double for basic entry. It said we should have gotten audio and never did. The employees said I only had a basic entry ticket. I should be reimbursed 1/2 of what I paid. Very disappointing.
The castle itself is lovely with amazing views over the city. However I wouldn't bother with these tickets - the tickets on the door were only 12 euros each and there was no queue at all in July. Seller claims these tickets come with some sort of extra special help but the staff at the castle had no idea what that was about. Basically we were charged 23 euros each for a 12 euro product.
What a cool and impressive castle. The views from its position on the mountain make it worth the trip up alone. You will not want to miss this, trust me.
Great experience!!! We rode th4 cable cars up and down. It's definitely worth it!! We had an entrance time at noon. It was perfect. Not too busy. The cafe had great priced food too.
The 360 views of the city from the castle are worth it. So beautiful! The castle itself is cool but not a lot to it! take the tram for More great views.
Interesting visit, extensive military history of Barcelona, views over harbour & defensive positions great. Grounds good to walk through. A good tour.
Highly recommendeda trip to Montuic castle. The museum was nice but the highlight is the view of Barcelona. A must see!!
Li, was very helpful and very clear. Her english was exceptionally and our ticket purchase was easy with no hassles. She told has all the required information prior to entering. We had a great time at the Temple of Heaven. We appreciate all her guidance.
Skip the line is 2x price of regular. Line seemed short. Worth it? Site was cool to see all the different construction-for-defense considerations.
The history associated with Castle Montjuic is amazing. The Audio Tour available directly from this historical site does a fantastic job of describing the Castle and it's position throughout history. Recommend checking the website for available start times for this self-guided audio-assisted tour. We did the tour in mid-September - outside the heavy tourist season - and we were able to book our tour time the same day we visited the Castle. Another MUST is taking the Funicular (Cable Car) ride up to the Castle. Purchase your funicular tickets in advance from the website and get a 10% discount. Similar discounts also available through the Barcelona Tour Card/City Pass.
Not what we expected, not worth the time spent. The view was the only item worth mentioning. ,....,...
Amazing place! Loved to be able to stroll around and explore on our own. Enjoyed the cable car ride. We arrived as it opened for business and we felt like we almost had the place to ourselves! Highly recommend the visit!
Walked right in. No wait. Bought tickets 2 hours before entry. Tickets arrived quickly to my email. Would use trip advisor again
The word castle is misused, it's a military fortress. You won't see any throne rooms for any rooms for that matter. Once that's clear out of your mind, it is still worth a visit for the price. Nice views, nice history to it. Took us maybe 1h30 to visit the premises.
