We had actually had a paella class in Madrid two years ago, and the best part was the socarrat in the paella. We took out son's girlfriend to a class in Barcelona she could experience authentic socarrat. Instead, we got a very good seafood risotto. I actually looked up whether seafood risotto should have a socarrat, and it should have. So, if you don't know what a socarrat is, this should be a fine trip. If not, email whatever class you are taking to make sure they prepare it with a socarrat.

It’s a very pleasant experience! Our chef was great and our group was fun! Great way to spend some time.
My daughter (17) and I (53) had a fantastic morning with our amazing chef Antonio. There were no other participants that day, so we had Antonio all to ourselves and were able to ask him a million questions, and he answered and explained everything that we wanted to know. He even gave us restaurant tips and tips to barcelona’s best markets. It was a great experience, from the visit to Boqueria market to the preparation of the various dishes to finally eating and enjoying it all. And this was such a lovely thing for us to do together. Will definitely try to make it all again when we get home!! PS! Come hungry!
This class was so much fun. We really enjoyed there marker tour and learning how to make authentic Spanish food. We enjoyed it so much that we decided to try to recreate for our weeding anniversary
We had a fantastic experience cooking with our 10 and 14 year olds cooking with Juan. The food was delicious and we learned so much about cooking, about Barcelona, and about Spain. It was a true pleasure and a highlight of our trip. It was also a lot of food!!
We loved our cooking class! We had a large family (16 people) of various ages and had a blast. The food was delicious and a great representative of typical Spanish cuisine. The kids (3 to 18 years old) all loved the experience and walked away with a love for cooking. We also loved our journey to the market!!!!
Absolutely — here is a polished 90-word version: We absolutely loved this Barcelona cooking class. As people who love food and love to learn, it was the perfect experience for us. The class was warm, welcoming, and hands-on, with just the right balance of cooking, culture, and fun. We learned so much about the ingredients, techniques, and traditions behind the dishes, while also enjoying a relaxed and memorable evening. It felt personal, authentic, and delicious from start to finish. We would highly recommend this class to anyone visiting Barcelona.
Our party of 6 had the best time cooking w/Chef Juan. He was very entertaining as well as a great teacher. First went to the market & then we made the best gazpacho, paella, & potato & egg pie.
Spent a wonderful four hours with Barcelona Cooking and Chef Antonio. The market was amazing and Antonio was so much fun!
Fun, educational, fun, informative and all the food was delicious!
Such a nice experience! We started by going to the market where we got a tour and tips on good food to try and what to choose. Then when we got back we made an amazing strawberry gazpacho, paella, bread with tomato, omelet and a Spanish version of crème brûlée. We could take as much white/red wine as we wanted, and there was also a really hot alcohol free drink :) We got lots of good tips for cooking in general and our chef was super nice and fun!
This was a great Spanish cooking class! Our chef, Simon, took us to the local market to purchase the fresh fish, beef and cheese we used in preparing our Spanish dishes. A wonderful experience in itself! During the teaching time Simon was knowledgeable, patient, and fun interacting with the group! We were a group of 3 couples. We all participated in prepping and cooking our dinner conisting of 5 delicious dishes. There was unlimited wine for us to enjoy while prepping and enjoying our meal together! Highly recommend Chef Simon and this opportunity to experience Spanish cruisine.
Chef Juan was wonderful, very friendly, he made us feel like we were old friends. Most importantly he taught us a lot about cooking in general as well as the multiple dishes we prepared and cooked under his watchful care! The most fun cooking class I’ve ever attended. You won’t be sorry if you sign up for the wonderful class The trip through the Rambles market was so informative and exciting. Not to be missed!!!
Great cooking class had a great time and yohanes the chef was excellent.
Juan and Yohannes led our school trip; we went on a great market tour and had generous portions of 5J ham tasting. We then cooked paella, made tomato garlic bread, vegetable soup and Catalan cream. They have been very helpful and friendly; the experience allows us to thoroughly enjoy traditional cuisines so everyone had a great time. We would definitely come again!
This was a very enjoyable cooking class and we kearned some excellent recipes that I plan on making in the future.
Juan was great! I have made paella in the past but I wanted to cook it the way the Spaniards do and I wasn’t disappointed. We got to make Crema Catala which I wanted to learn. As well as the secret behind the Spanish omelette! The simple tomato toast with garlic, amazing.
I cannot recommend this experience enough!!! We started with an interesting and informative tour of La Boqueria, then walked to the cooking school (short walk and alive with Barcelona culture). Our chef was so great at helping us be comfortable with each other and he remembered everyone's name immediately. We each got to make a significant part of our meal - I made the Crema Catalona and it was easy with his explanations and help. We enjoyed our fabulous meal together overlooking Las Ramblas. Our chef was welcoming, interesting, entertaining and kind. Loved, loved, loved this experience!!!!!
Great experience ! Learned how to cook Paella and had so much fun. Johanes was excellent. Great time
Great experience. Our chef, Juan, knew seemingly everyone in the market. We learned a lot, from grades of ham to preparation techniques to taste discernment. Well worth it.
I have taken a lot of cooking classes when I travel and I really learned a lot of new skills in this class. Juan was not only a great instructor but he was busting with personality and that made the class extra special and fun!
Had a great time and learned how to cook a lovely meal. Fresh ingredients and tasty food in a relaxed setting. Market tour was interesting.
What an amazing day! We had the best teacher Juan! He was so informative, but kept it fun! It was nice to have someone lead around the market as it can be intimidating. The class itself was super organized and the food was so good! Highly recommend spending a half day doing this! Well worth it :) Thanks Juan for a memorable day!
Juan was an exceptional chef. The food was mythical. I really enjoyed the tour of the market and the history, however the highlight of the trip was the food. I was in charge of the crema Catalonia, which was creamy and perfect. The gazpacho was something I've never made and was perfectly balanced in flavors. We had a wonderful seafood paella and a potatoes dish too. Worth every penny and the highlight of my visit to Barcelona.
Juan was outstanding to ensure the cooking was engaging and humorous. His prep was excellent to ensure the multiple dishes could be completed and enjoyed in the 4 hour slot.
It was great. We learned so much and it was very hands on experience. The food was amazing. We can barely get out of there because we were stuffed.
This cooking experience was the highlight of my trip to Barcelona! I would highly recommend it. The chef and staff were very welcoming. From touring the market to cooking the meal - it was a wonderful experience.
The tour around Boqueria market was very well planned. Everything was very thoughtful, very considerate and meticulous. Services and teaching provided in the kitchen were excellent. All staff were very nice. The kitchen was very clean, all equipment are clean and in very good condition.
This experience was one of the best of my trip! I had so much fun meeting new people and cooking with them. Juan, our instructor, was incredibly knowledgeable and so friendly; he put everyone at ease and set an open, fun tone for the evening. I was also impressed at how well he interacted with the kids in the group. I can’t say enough great things about this experience!
Juan was our chef and took us for a fun and informative shopping trip in the market. We then were all given jobs and instruction and wine and got started. He was very methodical and organized and we all learned some things and made friends and lots of beautiful delicious food!
My husband and I went to this cooking class and then ended up being only him and I with our chef Juancho, who was amazing, he made all the difference in the world, we had wine learned how to make tortilla, gazpacho, paella & Crema Catalana all while drinking wine, having plenty of laughs and enjoying the scenery as you overlook La Rambla. Our chef Instructor, Juancho, was incredible. I truly enjoyed the experience went back home and have been practicing those techniques almost on a daily basis especially with the tortilla! The staff was incredible and so is the school. I would do this again with my family and friends and I recommend you to.
We toured the market for an hour, then headed back to the kitchen where we had the cooking portion, it was part hands-on, part demonstration. Good overall.
One of the highlights of my stay in Barcelona. Loved the market tour, the cooking class was informative and fun, the lunch we made tasted amazing!
The market was amazing and haven’t a local explain about the history and different foods amplified the experience. We had fun cooking in a no pressure environment and sampling our dishes when we were done. We highly recommend this experience especially to start your trip!
What a fantastic experience. Sonja was an absolute delight. She is vet knowledgeable and has sincere interest in all her “chefs”. The markets were a real highlight followed by a very informative and fun cooking experience. So much good food to be cooked and shared. I highly recommend.
Sonia our chef was so fun and kind. My family and I enjoyed every second of our cooking experience. The food was delicious and we all highly recommend!
Highly recommend. We had a market tour where the food was purchased, followed by a three course meal prep. Everyone was fully engaged in the cooking and food prep, then we had a lovely lunch with new friends. It was 4+ hours and a highlight of our time in Barcelona!
Great morning spent shopping, learning and cooking with Juan. He had a lot of time for each of the 12 participants and we enjoyed a fantastic feast after the market visit.
Sonia was an amazing host and made the whole time fund and entertaining! The food was incredible and my whole family joined in and the prepping! So glad we had the experience!
Sonia was amazing! Wonderful cooking class! Highly recommend for families with kids 11+! Highly recommend! Xxxxxxxxx
Amazing Cooking & Boqueria experience! Our chef accommodated our dietary restrictions and made a yummy veggie stock for the Seafood Paella. We all prepared a 4 course meal and enjoyed our lunch and wine when finished! Don’t miss this!
Sonia was great, explained and demonstrated everything well. They were very accommodating to allergies and food requirements.
First, we shopped at the local market while being informed on what to look for. Next, we were guided through the whole cooking experience by a charming professional chef, Juan. We made seafood and chicken paella, tomato bread, tomato/strawberry gazpacho, tortilla espanola (potato and onion omelette), crema catalana (crème brûlée), all while drinking wine and enjoying the company and process.
The entire day was spectacular! I loved our instructor, the market, and the experience with our whole group. What a wonderful way to experience what it feels like to be a local in Barcelona! Make sure to purchase some smoked paprika and spices to make your own paella at home.
Absolutely brilliant - can’t recommend this enough. Candido was an excellent host and such an informative guide round the market. The cooking was so well organised and we were clearly learning from a master. Learned so much that I can take away!
This was the most fun ever. We learned so much of the Spain culture. They took us to the market to pick out the food we were going to cook. The instructor Sonya was friendly and knowledgeable. Diff a must to try.
Sonia was so patient and of course an excellent chef. We enjoyed every minute of the class. The food was excellent. So was the wine.
Chef Juan was an excellent instructor. He is very knowledgeable & entertaining. The trip to the market before the class is an excellent feature & adds a level of authenticity to the cooking experience.
Really enjoyed cooking class. Instructor and classmates (total of 8 students) were great. We made strawberry gazpacho, tomato toast, Spanish omelette, seafood paella with crème brûlée to finish. Loved shopping at local market before we started cooking. Great time, highly recommend!
Juan was Juan-Derfull! The visit to market was brief but informative. The cooking was fun, creative and delicious. My family wants me to try to make paella now that I’m home.
