The gps wasn’t calibrated and kept giving us wrong directions so spent the entire trip researching maps than actually taking in the monumental sites the city had to offer. Eventually got tired of getting lost and returned the car 1 /12 hours early.
The idea and car is tremendously fun. Spanish rules of the road take adjustment. The gps and voice navigation were good. A suggestion to help drivers is make the guidance give more and better advanced notifications of turns. We went off course several times because the turn command was given at the moment the turn needed to be made. Being off course is stressful and not the easiest to correct. We did become more worried about navigating and missed a few points of interest. Overall we'd do it again, but with improved voice navigation.
What an awesome and unique way to tour Barcelona - we had so much fun and doing it at our own pace and this was the highlight of our stay. Car was super easy to drive, lots of power and easy to park and get around. And the GPS tour guide was perfect. We took the extra hour recommendation to allow us to grab lunch and take a little longer. For anyone going Barcelona this has to be part of your trip!
Absolutely shocking customer service. The experience itself was ruined by the way we were treated at the end. When returning the GoCar, we were never given any instructions about where to drop it off. There were no signs and nobody had explained the return process. As tourists who aren't from Spain, we had no idea what we were supposed to do. A pedestrian told us that we could carefully drive onto the footpath to get the car back to the shop, so we followed that advice, believing it was correct. Instead of politely telling us we'd made a mistake, the shop manager came storming over shouting, "What the fk are you doing? Get out of the car! I'll push it into the shop!"** He then continued shouting that it was a "fking path."** There was absolutely no need to speak to paying customers like that. If clear instructions had been given from the beginning, none of this would have happened. We were visitors to Barcelona and were simply trying to return the vehicle correctly. The complete lack of professionalism and respect from the manager was appalling. We left feeling embarrassed and humiliated over what was clearly a misunderstanding that they could have prevented. I would never use GoCar Barcelona again and certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Customer service costs nothing, and this company seriously needs to learn how to treat its customers with basic respect.
It was reallly nice very immersive Dani was really of great help Got stuck and he came to my rescue in almost 5 minutes thank you Danny
This is a super fun way to explore Barcelona, thought it would feel a bit more intimidating driving in normal traffic, but it wasn’t bad at all. Through the city it is a bit of a challenge finding a spot to park if you want to explore, but it’s still a fun experience!
What a cool experience. One of a kind and original idea. We managed to see the whole of Barcelona in like 3 hours. It was great to see different areas and take in the Spanish atmosphere without constantly having to walk around. One thing that was slightly frustrating was the lack of parking option so we couldn’t always stop and get a drink or explore and had to keep going which was a shame.
Ignore Diane with the 6 useless points!!! If you are a functioning adult none of these issues are valid The staff was great and the cars drove well and the narrated route was easy to follow. Greg way to see the city without being stuck on a bus. Try it all 5 of us enjoyed it very much
We had such a great experience with GoCar! The staff were incredibly accommodating from the moment we arrived—they made everything easy, answered all our questions, and got us set up quickly without any hassle. The driving experience itself was much easier than I expected. The car was simple to operate, and the directions and guidance made navigating the city feel smooth and stress-free, even for first-timers. What really stood out was how much my daughter enjoyed it. She said it was the best part of our entire trip, which says a lot! It turned out to be such a fun and memorable way to explore, and I’m really glad we chose it.
Great experience I loved it most of all the guided and automated tour guide is sooo good and you can go at your own pace.
Me and my partner had booked the 3 hour experience and thoroughly enjoyed it!! we were instructed how to drive the car and a few brief rules of the road. i would advise taking photos of the car your driving incase there is any unnoticed damage which would effect the return of your deposit. When we returned we received the €300 deposit back immediately and were very pleased. The only downside is the other drivers on the road hate the go cars, so your constantly being beeped at, cut up and shouted at.
Great staff and a great experience overall the gps guide was a great story teller and quite funny at times. A bit expensive but make sure you go on a sunny day
Excellent way to spend the day. Miriam was so kind and professional, she set us up, got us on our way, and made sure we had all information necessary to keep it stress free. Loved seeing all the sites, one small area was not marked construction so we had to back up and go the wrong way down a one way (3 other local vehicles were in the same boat) All in all I highly recommend this excursion.
Throughly enjoyed this. Could be a a little bit difficult if you went off the route however this was a minor issue. Car easy to drive. Would highly recommend. Great fun
A unique experience and a novel idea but there is definitely things you need to be aware of and some room for some improvement. 1) Toilet facilities - ours was a 3 hour tour but no toilet facilities at the GoCar depot for clients before leaving or returning. We were told to go to one of the nearby bars/cafes and buy a coffee/drink and we could then use their toilets. 2) The guidance system gave you very little warning to change lanes (remember you are driving on the usual roads of a city of close to 2 million people) or turn corners at some points. At other times there was a good amount of warning. 3) We were told that some of our mapped route may not be possible due to the La Merce festival currently on and subsequent road closures and we would have to navigate around that ourselves!! The reason given for not changing the programmed route in the cars was that they had only found out about the road closures on the 27th Sept, therefore no time to re-program the routes on the cars, yet the GoCars website itself noted that there would be traffic disruptions from 22-28th September?? 3) A lot of traffic and stoppage time at red lights throughout the city meant that we couldn’t complete the tour in our allotted 3 hours (and this is without any stops to view points of interest on the tour) - ? an option to make the tour slightly shorter or allow more time in the weekends 4) The cars do take a bit of time to get used to wrt how they drive and the lag time between engaging the throttle and the car beginning to move (this is explained at the briefing) 5) If you do ‘stray’ of course then the map gives no indication of how to ‘get back on course’ (this is also explained at the briefing) but in reality a second person in the car (navigator) is essential. 6) You might not see as much as you would like (especially for those of us who usually drive on the LHS of the road) as you are constantly having to ‘watch where you are going’, watch the traffic and pedestrians rather than being able to look at the city’s wonderful sights.
The experience was fun and the guided GPS made it easy and we enjoyed the humor that it offered as well. Great sightseeing!
We had thought we would be in a group but this is just a solo exploring type of excursion. Driving the go cart isn’t easy at first but you get the hang of it after a bit. If you’re a skittish driver this likely isn’t for you. Also the go-cart is small so taller people might be somewhat uncomfortable. Overall we liked it and saw a ton in a short amount of time. Get out an explore for breaks along the way.
Great company . Easy to deal with . Amazing customer service . We took a family tour at 10 am. It was traffic and hot . But company itself and experience is great .
We have thoroughly enjoyed Go Cars in other cities, but our Barcelona experience was frustrating and disappointing. From the moment we arrived, we felt very rushed and not welcomed. When we asked if there were restrooms we could use or any water that was available they seemed annoyed and neither were available. The young woman who gave us the overview of the car was very pleasant and thorough. Although she did not let us know how to find the navigation to return back to the shop if we needed to at any point. The car was smaller in the seating area than we are used to with go cars, and the driver was very crammed in, and the glare of the sun made it virtually impossible to see the screen. When we told them this upon returning, they said we should had polarized glasses. Also, the route does not reroute if you get off course and driving in Barcelona is not an easy task normally and there is construction/road closed. The most disappointing part was that the traffic is so thick and rushed that the driver is really unable to relax to take in any of the sites. Additionally parking is hard to find so we couldn’t really stop along the route. Finally, we were nervous because the US does not have a driving agreement with Spain, and so we were basically driving as unlicensed drivers – we signed a waiver regarding this, but they could not give us an answer as to how much the fine would be if we were stopped. Be aware, there is a delay in the acceleration of the vehicle, which is frustrating to the drivers around you when you are trying to proceed when the light turns green. If you are comfortable in heavy city traffic, stopping at every light with the sun beating down on you and not being able to really enjoy the sites, you could possibly enjoy this. The best part was when pedestrians think you look cute in the tiny car.
This was probably my favorite thing that we did in Barcelona. A great way to see the city. Highly recommend. Everyone at GoCars was so helpful especially since my son who’s 6’8” didn’t fit in the new cars. They pulled out an older model and off we went.
Fun way to see the city, up close and personal, but driving can be hectic due to the heavy city traffic.
Great experience, tour brought us to some great places and great way to see majority of Barcelona. Recommend highly
Great fun riding around the city in this little car. The navigation system gave great instructions that were easy to follow and if you did make a mistake it got you back on track. There was time on our tour to stop for a look around (once we found somewhere to park!) Would recommend to anyone confident enough to drive around a busy city.
Being with family and experiencing parts of the city we could never have seen without this service. Great way to see Barcelona at a reasonable price.
An absolutely amazing experience once you get used to how to drive the gocar it is a great way to explore the city of barcelona and visit all the interesting history about the place
Good fun and great way to explore the city. Would recommend to anyone. Good value for money and we'll worth it.
Great morning. Sights were amazing. Car was fun just hard for my tall husband but he managed to navigate the streets of Barcelona.
Me and my three friends decided to do this tour. About 30 minutes in all of our cars stops working in the middle of the highway. We called the store but they just wanted to replace the cars. They refused to give us any discount. WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER
We were a family of 4 (16 and 17th year olds). We hired two cars. Great fun and I would highly recommend. A couple of points brought it down from a 5 star: Seats very uncomfortable. The route that had been pre-plotted into the car sat nav’s was very long which meant that we couldn’t complete it and get the car back in time for our 3hr slot. We didn’t even stop for a break and a rest apart from to stretch our legs as the seats were so hard and painful. The route got confused a couple of times. So we had to improvise and use our own phones to get back in track. They wouldn’t let us use their WC although the briefing was comprehensive.
Amazing tour with Bluetooth connection and music. Fun experience that I would 100% recommend. You can go off route and see as many attractions as you want inside of Barcelona
The idea is good. However the result off it was terrible the Navigation system did not work correctly causing our route to be cut short to make it back on time. The cars are not the standard they should be for road usage ( the handling and control, comfort and speaker). The speaker prioritise giving you information rather than direction making it inefficient for navigating your self around a new city.
Had so much fun doing the self guided tour. The car was relatively easy to drive, and the GPS made it super handy. Probably the funnest tour I’ve done on my European travels!
I was terrified to drive in Barcelona given we are from the US. We had a wonderful time and it was such fun fun! Would highly recommend. I did it with my daughter.
Right out of the driveway my husband had an accident because the accelerator went and he couldn’t turn the wheel. They kept the deposit and we hadn’t even left yet. Then they replaced the car and the gps did not work. It is dangerous without it. We had another party with us who also almost got into an accident because the gps did not work. They never even offered a partial refund. They said well you should have called us. We could not pull over anywhere safe to even do that!
We had a great time. It allowed us to move around Barcelona in our own. Only downside was it was a Sunday and all stores were closed. The best part was not a lot of traffic.
What a great afternoon ! We decided against the usual open top bus tour and got a gocar instead.yes, its way more expensive but we had the best 3 hours! Sped up the mountain, waved at everyone, stopped when we wanted and had a blast.highly recommended x
Had a blast enjoying the sights around Barcelona in this peppy little go kart. Because of its size, you get much better views than being on a bus or taxi, yet get up very close to the attractions. The commentary was great with some excellent humor and context to your location. I would say you should be a confident driver as there’s a need to navigate around busy traffic and lane changes but I never found it an issue as drivers seemed to give way to this cheery little car. Also appreciated getting lots of thumbs ups from passer by and fellow drivers!
This was an awesome way to experience Barcelona! Would recommend this to anyone seeking a new way to tour. It is a little hairy in the beginning but once you get the hang of it it is a blast! The audio guide gives you bits of information as you drive and is pretty funny as well.
The Golf cart GPS malfunctioned 40 minutes into the excursion. We navigated back to the original pick up location that confirmed the malfunction. Requested a refund that was denied
We had high expectations for this experience. We are very disappointed that the carts did not accommodate the height of my husband. We were given another cart, that was described as an older model. The gps did not work well and we found ourselves lost. When we called for assistance as described in the cart, it was connected to the whatup app thus we were able to call for assistance The personnel was accommodating and graciously apologized, but their kindness and professionalism was over shadowed by the experience in the cart.
Quick way to see the city. Cute little car and easy to use. GPS needs to be ungraded. Missed some turns due to late prompting or no prompting.
Great experience! I was a little nervous at the start but once you get used to it and relax it’s so much fun
This vehicle is VERY small and cramped. Driving in Barcelona is challenging and terrifying. Driver has to focus on driving and does not get to enjoy sights. Passenger will enjoy more. The GPS on go car does not recalibrate. The path is the path. You are very close to ground. It is magnified when a truck pulls up behind you and honks horn. Parking is limited so plan to stay in vehicle the entire time. Not enjoyable. Would not recommend. The vendor will also not let you cancel once you realize the safety concerns.
The employees were unkind to us. Do not recommend. Not safe to drive in Barcelona. Ride is very low to the ground. Avoid doing this on your vacation.
It was our first time in Barcelona for my son’s 14th birthday. worked with us on changed reservation from a rainy day to a nice beautiful day.
The very best way to see the city of Barcelona. It was fun and the interactive experience where there is audio guide telling you about the sites were nice as well.
We’ve just spent 5 hours touring Barcelona in one of these small electric cars. Guided by Sat nav and accompanied by an educational talk whilst you drive past landmarks, this is probably the best way to see so much of this beautiful city. However long you’re here for make sure to include this in your itinerary but book in advance!
We absolutely loved the gocars! We had it as an activity as part of my hen do celebrations and we laughed so much and enjoyed the tour! The cars are super easy to drive and the city is fairly easy to navigate! The team were so friendly and as we had an odd number of people they lent us a driver so no one was on their own. Hugo was very friendly and helpful and answered all the questions we had! Would 100% recommend
It’s so easy to use! And it’s so much fun, the roads were pretty quite for Barcelona, I went off track 3 times more because I couldn’t turn when I wanted too. It has some speed capped at 40kph but it feel fast in the cart! There’s a few stop of places along the way. I really enjoyed it a completely different experience! Would 100% recommend! You need to put a deposit on the car but it didn’t even leave my bank
