Patrick’s tour was one of the highlights of our trip to Spain! He is so knowledgeable and such an engaging storyteller. The sights on the tour build as you walk up the street and the way he gets you to see and understand so many details that most people would miss is worth every minute. Our time was short and we had to choose between going inside one Gaudi house or going on this tour and this was the correct choice. Patrick’s assistance with navigating the Metro to get to Sagrada Família was an added bonus and gave us the confidence to use the system to our benefit over the next several days.

Famous square that separates the old city of Barcelona from the modernist area known as the Eixample, where we will talk about the evolution of the city, the marks left by the fighting in the Spanish Civil War that can still be seen, before entering the Modernista area of the Eixample for the second part of the visit.
The most luxurious Paseo del Ensanche, the main street of the opulent Barcelona of the families of the Catalan bourgeoisie of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century.
Elaborate modernist lampposts that decorate the Paseo de Gracia for more than a century, full of symbols and interesting details.
The wonderful Casa Lleó i Morera is part of the famous Manzana de La Discordia, a set of modernist buildings without rival in Barcelona. The house, designed by the architect Domènech i Montaner at the beginning of the 20th century, is full of details about the life and thoughts of its creator and its owner, and guards many secrets on its facade.
One of the best known modernist houses in Eixample, Casa Amattler, the work of the architect Puig i Cadafalch, was owned by a family of chocolate producers. We will talk about the history of chocolate at the time, the life of the Amatller and above all we will look for the symbols hidden on the facade. It is possible to go for free to the inner courtyard of the House, to admire the staircase, the old elevator and the refined sculptures.
The most celebrated monument in Barcelona in all its splendor, still incomplete by Gaudí, where we will finish our visit in great style. We will see in 30 minutes its various facades from the outside, we will tell its surprising and long history, we will analyze its secrets and the most interesting details about its construction.
The Casa Malagrida is the first example of a modernist bourgeois house that we will see on the route. Property of Señor Malagrida, a rich tobacco industrialist, we will tell his life between Argentina and Spain through the decoration of the facade.

It was an amazing experience. The guide expanded my knowledge on the architecture and the history of the area of Barcelona. Additionally, he gave me tips and fun facts about the area and how to use the public transportation
We really enjoyed hearing Patrick explain the history and context of numerous modern art buildings, including those designed by Goudi. We walked at a relaxed pace, which allowed plenty of time for discussion and looking at the various design aspects. Highly recommended
My family and I loved the walking tour with Patrick. He made it super interesting and informative. We walked Barcelona the day before and didn't notice any of the details that Patrick pointed out. He met us at our hotel and took us all the way to La Sagrada Familia.
Just a wonderful tour! Patrick is a great story teller and a very nice person. Made the tour interesting and we enjoyed every minute.
A really informative and interesting tour with Patrick on Gaudi and Modernism. Would recommend him and the tour. Alex and Jean
Patrick is a very engaged tour guide with personal touch! He provided us a very good understanding of Gaudi’s architectural designs and the four buildings visited from outside. I appreciate the added content of Catalonian culture.
The tour was super interesting and Patrick gave us a lot of interesting information about Barcelona, Gaudí and Spanish modernism in general. It was very informative, detailed and was full of little-known facts. The tour works on a donation basis, so it is ideal for people traveling on a budget. Highly recommended!
Patrick did a Spectacular job. He's extremely knowledgeable and showed us magnificent architecture. I would highly recommend him.
My boyfriend and I did the Gaudí tour with Patrick and can firmly say we are now fans of their work - that applies to Gaudí AND Patrick! The storytelling was super engaging and it was very interesting to learn more about modernism generally. It didn’t feel rushed at all but in a couple of hours we learnt so much about the hidden gems found on the buildings of Barcelona. Thank you Patrick!
It was one of the best tours that we have attended mainly because it had the perfect mix of detail, history and storytelling. This is a must do tour in Barcelona if one wants to know more about Gaudi and the era.
Patrick is an excelent guide! Onde of the best tours I've been in my life! Rich in details, very interesting and insightful! Highly recommended!
Patrick was great. He really went into a lot of detail and was great at storytelling. The building have so many hidden meanings it was great to learn about them.
Patrick’s walking tour was fun AND educational! His enthusiasm about Gaudí is infectious, i loved all the details he shared, and now am also a fan of Gaudí!
Patrick was a great tour guide! He intertwined the history of Barcelona with the architecture of the buildings and of the Gaudi designs. His tour lessons gave us good insight well after our tour was over as we toured the rest of the city. Patrick did a wonderful job on this tour and I would Highly recommend this at the beginning of a Barcelona experience.
Outstanding private tour with Patrick! Excellent overview of architectural and cultural evolution in Gaudi’s time. Go on this tour before seeing Gaudi’s houses for better understanding of his life, style, and its influence on the city.
Our private tour of Gaudi and Modernism with BeLocalTours was not only enlightening but truly exceptional. Their expertise provided us with deep insights into Spain’s history and Gaudi’s masterpieces. Highly recommend BeLocalTours for anyone looking to delve deeper into the essence of Spain!
We had a fabulous tour with Patrick and enjoyed every minute of it. He is very knowledgable and, being a Welshman, hit it off immediately with my English born husband. We were lucky enough to just be our family of three adults plus Patrick so we could take our time to learn everything Patrick had to teach us. Whilst being very knowledgable he was also a lot of fun with a fabulous sense of humour. We highly recommend Patrick and this amazing walking tour.
Patrick was very personable, has a great knowledge of political, social and architectural history. He adapted tour to the needs of two seniors.
Five stars are too few to capture Patrick’s enthusiasm for and depth of knowledge of the subject. He was also helpful in helping us navigate our first metro ride in the city and identifying places to continue our explorations. Patrick is a first rate guide and we recommend him highly to anyone with an interest in learning about architecture and history in the Modernist era. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was a delightful and engaging tour! Patrick was so knowledgeable and kept it interesting & fun.
I did the Gaudí and Modernism tour with Patrick and it was fantastic! He really knew his stuff. While the tour was highly informative, he managed to keep it fun and laid back at the same time. Previously, I have done a tour with one of the larger companies in Barcelona, and although that too was very good, I think that Be Local Tours definitely have the edge. The fact that the Be Local groups are generally smaller definitely helps. I cannot recommend them enough! Spend a couple of hours on one of their tours and you really will come away feeling that you know Barcelona that little bit better. Thanks Patrick! I definitely hope to do another one of your tours next time I return to Barcelona.
Our guide, Patrick, was really enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. He was happy to answer all questions and was clearly very passionate about what he was speaking about. I recommend this tour 100%
My husband and I did an English-speaking Gaudi tour with Patrick the Gaudi Guide. Wow. Incredible storyteller. He really knew his stuff. And he was so passionate about the topic that, by the time it was over, WE were passionate about it too. He added some really helpful context and made the history of Barcelona architecture come to life. Neither of us knew anything about Gaudi when we arrived, but he really set the stage and made it easy to understand. By the time it was over, we had see a number of buildings, were fascinated by the different styles, and we could identify what makes these homes so unique. We’d definitely recommend Patrick specifically. The tour wouldn’t have been the same without him as the guide.
I took the Gaudi and Modernism tour with Patrick and I learned so much more! Patrick was amazing and very passionate. I strongly recommend this tour for anyone who visits Barcelona. The tour is not just about architecture but also about history, philosophy and politics! I have already visited Sagrada Familia by the time I took this tour and with Patrick I learned more things in 20 minutes than the tour guide from the basilica taught us in more than 1 hour. Great experience!
Excellent tour by Patrick on Gaudis work - talked about the history and designs of major buildings and the city
Such a great tour with Patrick. Really made an effort to use humour and storytelling with history which made it pass by, could listen to Patrick for hours! Really recommend if you’re in Barcelona!
Amazing tour, our guide Patrick was really knowledgeable and our tour was engaging and you could really see the depth in Patrick’s tour and he knew what he was talking about. 5 Stars!
Patrick is a very good story teller he really engages you in the history and it very interesting. His knowledge of the topic is impressive together with local knowledge makes him an excellent guide
Patrick was informative and knowledgeable, he shared history behinds the architecture in interesting and funny way, thanks a lot for the tour!
Patrick was a great guide! He was very personable and knew what he was talking about. He kept us on time without feeling rushed and was open to our questions as we went. We found ourselves sharing what we had learned on his tour with Barcelona friends later and taught them a thing or two!
It was an amazing tour. Patrick was a great guide and I really liked his way of storytelling - very energetic and easy to follow. After the tour I felt like I genuinely understood Modernism and it’s relation to the city. What I also liked is that we didn’t visit hundreds of places but rather focused on the most important. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in architecture.
Patrick was great, very informative and interesting tour. We were supposed to join the free walking tour but despite the fact no one else registered for the tour on our day, they still went ahead and made it a private tour just for us.
Man, I can't gas this tour up enough, it was such a lovely, worthy way to spend a couple of hours in Barcelona . Patrick is a fantastic storyteller and was super engaging throughout, captivating even my parents with all the imagery he conjured up with words alone. I'd been on one of these walking tours when I visited Barcelona back in 2018 and knew that I had to go for it again this time round. Do yourselves a favour :)
I don't usually take guides or tours, but I happened to see Patrick with a band in town and asked for a business card. First of all, I was attracted to beautiful English, which is really a pleasure to listen to a speaker with beautiful speech. Second, knowledge of the material and dedication to the work. Highly recommended!
It was a very nice tour, with Patrick as accompanist. Very interesting, not too long, not too short. Also nice to learn about the history of Barcelona.
