Itinerary
Casa Vicens, the first house Gaudi, and the first important work of the architect, offers the visitor one of the key pieces of the career of Antoni Gaudí's work that marked his point starting and architectural jewel that was declared World Heritage by UNESCO in 2005. Built between 1883 and 1885 by order of Don Manuel Vicens, the Casa Vicens is an early Modernist masterpieces, anticipating the later work of Gaudi and a living example of aesthetic renewal of the air we breathe at the nineteenth century Europe. Originally, it was planned as a summer house with garden, in which geometric shapes and rich decoration, inspired by vegetation in the environment, are present both outside the home and the different interiors.

It was good the audioguide was very helpful.
Seeing Casa Vincen’s is a must. I suggest going here first before seeing any of Gaudi’s other works. Be sure not to miss the video of the restoration process at the end of the tour near the gift shop. I feel it should be placed in a more prominent location in the house as you truly can appreciate the work and artistry involved to recreate what we are fortunate to be able to see today. Last thing, we never buy things in museum gift shops. We did this time! Definitely take a moment to peruse the items in the gift shop.
another great gaudi building . the art deco inside was h just anazing. i would highly recommend this tour
Wonderful to see the young Gaudi’s early beginnings. A masterpiece We love Gaudi. What an exceptional architect well ahead of his time Audio tour was wonderful. Very easy
I really loved the audio guide—the background music was so lively and fun! The architecture itself is interesting, though honestly, I felt the most fascinating details were already visible from outside the main entrance. If the ticket price were a bit lower, I’d easily give it five stars. Don't be silly like me and pay full price at the door—tickets are way cheaper if you book through Trip.com ahead of time!
A truly stunning building with a fascinating history. A hidden gem in Barcelona - seek it out.
Avoid crowds so you can enjoy the house without too many people and take photos from the outside. It is beautiful.
We arrived on time and we were pleased it was not too busy. The house is beautiful and well organized. It is definitely worth visiting and make sure you book ahead.
If you love architecture and learning about the history of Gaudi‘s first project in Barcelona go see this house! I love the outside. It reminds me of Venice, Italy.. took about one hour to tour and it was beautiful!
We met as instructed. When no guide turned up, we re-read our booking: no guided tour. Bring headphones. Hadn't read this properly. A guided tour would;ve been so much better especially as we didn't bring headphones so didn't use the self-guided option. Admission cost was okay. Stayed about an hour. Quiet - not very busy at all which was good. Small crowd. This is perhaps not as popular as other Gaudi homes but we'd enjoyed them on a previous visit and wanted to see something new. Staff were generally friendly and welcoming. We loved the Alhambra influences especially the blue ceiling. We saw Michael Portillo on TV visiting Casa Vicens so this planted the idea in our minds to visit. We were slightly disappointed there was no guided tour but this was our fault for not reading the ticket properly.
Well presented, lots of helpful staff and good audio set guiding. Easy to find in the Gracia District.
Bring headphones for audit guide on your phone. Or research their times for guided tours in your language. Not a lot of people but worth seeing if you're in park Guell as it's a short walk.
A Gaudi gem in the lovely area of Gracia. It is very interesting to see an early Gaudi work and to compare and contrast it to his later works. The house has been beautifully restored and it has been really well curated, with the right level of information and history. You can visit from top to bottom, so you get a great feel for the layout of the house. It has a sweet coffee shop and a great shop.
Very innovative house. We loved the exhibit showing the first houses built by Gaudi contemporary architects.
This Gaudi-designed townhouse is stunning. Amazing exteriors and interiors, and surprisingly cool on a hot day. It took us about forty five minutes to do the self guided tour (bring your own headphones). Well worth a visit.
Great experience! The guide was fantastic!
Signing up for the self guided audio tour exceeded our expectations. The casa is beautiful and the audio tour provided good descriptions of all the rooms in this masterpiece designed by Gaudi.
The details learned from the audio tour is worth the hassel. Just listen to it on your phone. Lots of extra in the attached building.
Top top experience. No real problems, audio was good and the tour meandered beautifully with amazing sights round every corner.
Make sure your cellphone is charged as it is required for audio tour. There are many models showing changes made to house over the years.
We loved touring Casa Vicens. It’s like a hidden gem. The art is absolutely beautiful and you can get some really good photos. We had no problem booking on viator, and the audio tour worked out great. We were able to finish at our own speed.
The staff were very helpful and friendly. We arrived an hour early but we were allowed in. The house was very interesting and the audio guide was informative and easy to understand.
Lots of people inside but still beautiful and so informative! Great place for pics and if you go alone feel free to ask someone to take your picture!
It’s beautiful house especially the outside. Inside it’s kind of let down … just the empty room … good thing is I had rewards from Viator, so I only paid $9.00. … this house should be skipped if you want to visit Gaudi Casa … just take picture outside from the street.
The colours, the textures and the styles incorporated into the house will leave visitors open mouthed. If only there was a realistic illustration or a photograph from earlier times to show the house with its gardens and area surrounding the house.
The house is a 5 minute walk from the Fontana metro station. There was easy access with no queues at 10.30 on a Tuesday in February. The entry process was quick and easy; there is a free locker to use for backpacks etc. The staff were helpful and friendly. You scan a QR code to access the a/v guide to the house which has good info and is available in many languages. There are knowledgeable staff on hand who are happy to answer questions and provide further information. There are toilets onsite as well as a small cafe. All good - no downside at all.
This eas the highlight of our trip!! The most beauriful house of Gaudi by far!! Must visit, worth the long walk from the centre and the 24 euro ticket
It was so beautiful in the house - the curves of the wooden furniture and on the walls, the warm atmosphere, the blending of colors. It was nice that we had the chance (with golden ticket) to visit some of the other rooms - they were not crowded and we had the chance to stay there longer and to dive in the atmosphere. We are so glad we visit this house and we get familiar with Gaudi's work. The cube at the end was also very impressing, also the stairs on the way out. We definitely suggest this tour!
Another incredible piece of architecture by Antonio Gaudi hidden away in the city streets definitely go see
This tour is a cell phone guided tour and Bluetooth earbuds will work. The last time we traveled, we were provided with little boxes that ear lugs plugged into- so we were not equipped properly with the correct type of ear buds. Probably old school- but may be helpful to someone else- otherwise was a great tour
The visit was smooth, very good quality audioguide with pictures about how the place was with furniture. Don't miss the video in the basement about the renovation process.
Booking was easy. We were allow to enter outside of our time slot. Sometimes they don’t offer all choices of tickets, like with or without headphones.
Loved the beautiful old buildings. Gorgeous grounds, very well kept. The fruit trees look well cared for and provide lovely fruit.
Having visited Park Guell the previous fay, we actually enjoyed Casa Vecens more. Les’s crowded, more vibrant, more personal - a truly stunning house and well worth an hour. Great audio guide too.
We traveled with a wheelchair user and were able to access the home including the roof. The site was so beautiful.
Really enjoyed! It is a nice starting place to learn Gaudí style. The self guided audio is also very helpful to explain the ideas behind each room.
A lovely Gaudi designed house. Not as crowded as Casa Batllo, we arrived at 11 am on Sunday and walked right in. The audio guide is a download (QR code) that you can listen to, or read, on your phone as a transcript is provided. While not as large as Casa Batllo, this home still reflects the genius and beauty that Gaudi brought to his work. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, which took about an hour.
Beautiful house!! Enjoyed the visit very much. Audio guide was not working properly. We were instructed to use house Wi-Fi and then had no problem. Staff was available for assistance.
This place is simply fantastic!!!! I can’t understand why people (including locals) don’t talk more about it. It’s worth a visit undoubtedly.
You need WiFi to load their guided tour on your phone. Bring ear buds. Vincens is a beautiful work of art and function. To see Gaudi’s first casa was amazing. The tile work is very unique. A great visit.
Really enjoyed visiting Casa Vicens. We went on a Monday afternoon and it was not crowded at all, which is one of the reasons it was so enjoyable. We were able to sit and enjoy the fountain and several areas of the house as intended. Very happy to have seen the Casa. I felt the ticket price was slightly high, but understand that ticket sales are what keeps the operation going. Something that would’ve improved the experience would have been having a bit more historical context during the tour. For example, furniture that would’ve been in the house, history on the family who commissioned the house, more of what the neighborhood would’ve looked like, etc.
One of Gaudi's earler designed house which is very impressive. You must go and see this beautiful gem.
You don’t need to “skip the line” here so just go and don’t pay this—BUT I loved Casa Vicens. Lesser known/visited small Gaudi house that is a literal botanical jewel
Visiting Casa Vicens was a wonderful experience. The house itself is spectacular, with nature beautifully integrated into the architecture—truly a feast for the eyes. Tickets are on the expensive side, as is common for many attractions in Barcelona, but they offer a €3 discount at the gift shop (which is pricey) and 15% off at the bar. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the museum is pleasantly not too crowded. The location is a bit tucked away in the Gràcia neighborhood, but it’s definitely worth seeking out. A must-see for anyone interested in Gaudí’s early work and unique architectural design
Touring the Casa Vicens with audioguide was lovely. We moved at our own pace and got a great sense of what life was like at the estate and the history of how it came to be. We watched a couple of videos along the way. I thought it was very interesting. staff was knowledgeable and stationed around the property. I normally cruise through gift shops without looking too much, but I thought this gift shop was very nice and unique.
Excellent text/audio tour. Great information and insights. Easy to re-read or hear various segments.
Located in a quiet neighborhood. When we arrived in the morning, we did not have to fight any crowds and had many of the rooms to explore for ourselves. Worth the trip too experience experience this unique house and its history.
Great visit it was not crowded at all, we went on Monday afternoon. Staff is really nice and we could take as much as time as we need to visit everything.
Beautiful and peaceful place. Even with the high temperatures, it felt cool inside. Perfect to understand Gaudí’s mindset and inspirations.
