Our Game of Thrones tour was absolutely awesome! From the very beginning, we knew that our tour guide, Chema, was a true GOT fan—just like we are. On the drive to Girona, we had a wonderful time discussing different characters, storylines, and memorable moments from our favorite show. It was the perfect way to begin the day. When we arrived in Girona, we were disappointed to learn that a few of the Game of Thrones filming locations were not accessible to tours during our visit because Disney was filming the live-action version of “Tangled” in the area. However, Chema didn’t let that dampen the experience. He took us through the beautiful streets of Girona and showed us as many GOT filming locations as possible. One of our favorite parts of the tour was that Chema had brought photographs from the show with him. He used them to help us compare the locations as they look today with the scenes we remember from Game of Thrones. It made the experience so much more interesting and brought the show to life in a very special way. We also really appreciated that Chema shared so much of Girona’s history with us throughout the tour. His knowledge and enthusiasm made the experience about much more than just Game of Thrones—we got to appreciate the fascinating history and beauty of Girona as well. On our drive back to the hotel, Chema was also kind enough to recommend some local restaurants where we could enjoy authentic Spanish cuisine. We really appreciated his recommendations and his willingness to share his knowledge with us. We had a fantastic time and would absolutely recommend this Game of Thrones tour to other fans. And if you have the opportunity, **ask for Chema as your guide!** His enthusiasm, knowledge, and genuine love of Game of Thrones made our experience truly memorable.

Founded by the Romans over 2,000 years ago, Girona is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Catalonia, which is exactly why the producers of Game of Thrones chose it to bring Braavos and King’s Landing to life. With your guide, start exploring the old town that thousands of fans now come to recognise.
Cross the Onyar River on the red iron bridge built in 1877 by Gustave Eiffel’s company, a few years before his famous tower in Paris. From here you get one of the best views of the colourful houses lining the river.
Walk through the narrow lanes and hidden courtyards of El Call, one of the best-preserved Jewish quarters in Europe. Your guide will share its history alongside behind-the-scenes stories from the filming of the series.
Stop to admire the painted façades of the houses hanging over the Onyar, the most famous image of Girona, best seen from its bridges and from the top of the city walls.
Pass by the 12th-century Arab Baths, a Romanesque building inspired by Roman bathhouses. In the series, this is where Arya hides while fleeing the Waif through the streets of Braavos.
Walk along the top of Girona’s medieval walls, built on Roman foundations, for panoramic views over the rooftops, the cathedral and the countryside beyond.
Climb one of the most atmospheric corners of the old town, a grand stone stairway framed by medieval buildings that became one of the key settings of Braavos in Game of Thrones.
Take a break in this elegant arcaded square, named after the War of Independence against Napoleon and lined with cafés and terraces.
End at the foot of the cathedral’s monumental Baroque stairway, which became the exterior of the Great Sept of Baelor in King’s Landing, where Jaime Lannister confronts the High Sparrow. Inside, the cathedral has the widest Gothic nave in the world.

Chema was such a great tour guide! Lively, informative, funny, engaging, personable, I can keep going. We saw so many game of thrones shooting locations throughout Girona. The city is beautiful even if you’ve never seen the show. We walked through the very and very very old part of the city, saw the famous Shame Steps, saw where Arya fights blind on the streets of Bravos, and learned so much about both Game of Thrones and the history of Girona. I highly recommend this tour, make sure you go with Chema!!
I totally recommend this experience. I booked a private tour for my fiancé’s birthday to Girona, Spain. Aleix was our tour guide and he was great. It was amazing to have our own personal tour guide without other crowds. Aleix picked us up from our hotel in Barcelona which was great! Aleix showed us all the hidden gems of Girona and made my fiances birthday experience amazing. I would totally book this experience again.

Fantastic tour with Chema! We have participated in many tours in many countries, and he is one of the best guides. Definitely exceeded our expectations! On time pickup at the hotel- pleasant, great sense of humor and extremely knowledgeable about the country as well as Girona and nearby locations. His background in the film industry was a real plus in that he was able to convey additional insight into exactly how various scenes were created. Chema provided much detail and went out of his way to be accommodating to us. He brought the show alive again! He also shared a lot of history on Spain and the areas we were driving through,and offered to show us another scenic part of the area on our way back. Even if you aren’t a huge Game of Thrones movie buff as we are, the history of the area , the architecture and the background and color commentary that Chema provided was well worth the trip. We had such a fantastic time with Manu! He was our Game of Thrones and Girona expert, and we truly felt lucky to have him as our trusted guide. His ability to anticipate our needs and match our energy was simply amazing. We had so much fun because Manu is incredibly talented and kept us entertained the whole time. We absolutely adore him! We had a wonderful tour with Omid and Wonder. They picked us up at the hotel in Barcelona, we had nice and comfortable drive to Girona, and then began our history walk. We loved exploring the Jewish Quarter at our own pace, and seeing things like the map of Paris hand drawn by Gustav Eiffel - hidden away if you don’t know where to look. It was super fun seeing all the spots from Game of Thrones and Omid had pictures showing the CGI changes that were made for the TV show scenes , which really helped to visualize. It was great to be able to go in a private group, and spend more time doing things of interest to us. Omid was able to tailor his talk to our interests specifically, guiding me to nice photography spots while talking architecture with my daughter. He is very knowledgeable! It was a great tour, A+, recommend!
Chema Linares was a wonderful tour guide. He asked if we were only interested in Game of Thrones or if we wanted to know more about Girona. We wanted to know everything so it was so informative. He also gave us many facts about Barcelona and Spain. It was a personalized tour and we never felt rushed. At the end, he took us to a restaurant in Barcelona and he went inside to make sure that there would be seating for us before leaving us. If I ever come back or if anyone ever asks, I will definitely recommend him and the private tour.

Luis is a great guide, knowledgeable, personable and well-prepared. Girona is not to be missed. Experiencing the magic of Roman and Medieval streets-in addition to appreciating Game of Thrones locations-was a highlight. When Luis realized how much we like to adventure and to eat, he provided a stop at a lovely restaurant. The shrimp in garlic and the calamari were highlights. Amazing tour of Girona with Miguel covering the scenes filmed for Game of Thrones. It was great how he brought his own materials making it clear what part we were currently standing in. He is very well informed on GOT and is an official tour guide of Catalunya. Being from Chicago there was no issue with the new omicron covid variant. Everything was very safe. Be sure to bring your passports and vaccination cards if you want to dine in any restaurants. Miguel took us to 2 great places for snacks/lunch once we were done with the tour. 10/10 would recommend!

Mr Arnold is an impressive tour guide. He is very passionate about Girona and Coasta Brava and he is very knowledgeable about the various places. You can tell he enjoys what he does.
