Sergio was our tour guide and he was friendly and informative. The tour consisted of me, my husband and a family with two young children. We visited the town of Girona and many sites where Game of Thrones was filmed. (I am not a Game of Thrones Fan, but the others enjoyed the sites.) We also had a Game of Thrones ice cream treat during the tour. We didn't love it, but it was a nice gesture. The tour included a wonderful lunch at a clean, outdoor restaurant. We were able to choose from a menu and dessert and a drink were also provided. We were fortunate enough to be in a small group with an understanding family while my husband needed several breaks because of a heart condition. Thank you. This is a long day so be prepared. We recommend this tour. I have attached two pictures of our meal because it was wonderful, but zero of the rest of the tour. Sorry.

Departure Point
- All of our tours meet at our Explore Catalunya office, which is directly across from the outside cafe area of the Palau de la Musica. We advise that you arrive 15 minutes before the tour starts.
Return
- Depending on the size of the group and the traffic restrictions on the day of the tour, your tour will finish back at the office, or in Placa Catalunya, which is an easy 3-5 minute walk from the office.
Itinerary
8.45am - You will start your day at our main office, which is right next to the famous Palau de la Musica. You will meet your guide, have time to use the restrooms, and perhaps even grab a quick coffee before the tour begin. Your guide will explain all about the day ahead and what to expect as you wait for you tour to leave.
9.00am - You will leave Barcelona though the Eixample district of town. As you head out of the city, your guide will give you a brief history of Barcelona, before letting you sit back and relax on the 60 minute drive to Girona.
10.00am - On the hour long drive to Girona, your guide will give you a brief historical introduction of the city of Girona and Catalunya. Once in Girona, you will follow the trail of key characters such as Arya, Jaime, and Margaery Tyrell, among others, at the show's key filming locations. Throughout the day, your guide will share photos at each site, helping you piece together what it takes to film and produce the hit show. During the visit, we will also grab a delicious popsicle stick of ice cream, Ser Jaime's golden hand. Finish your exploration of Girona, taking some time to wander its medieval alleys, Jewish neighborhood, and enjoy the historic architecture. After some free time alone, you will meet up with the guide and drive to a family restaurant for a hearty lunch with many of the local specialities.
1.00pm - Driving from Girona, we stop in Blanes, the Gateway to the Costa Brava. We will be stopping in a family run local restaurant for a hearty lunch with many of the local specialities. The owner will welcome us with a homemade sangria, followed by a wide selection of local starters, main courses and dessert. From here, we will head to our last stop, a nearby medieval castle.
4.00pm - Our last stop will give us the chance to visit a well preserved medieval castle and enjoy its lovely views. The castle dates back to the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, and enough remains of the structures to show how imposing it must have once been. After some free time, we will head back to Barcelona, arriving at about 5:30pm.
5.30 - 5.45pm - We end the day in Plaça Catalunya. From here, you can easily take the metro or a taxi back to your hotel. Otherwise, your guide will be more than happy to make some recommendations of where to have dinner.

Even if you aren’t familiar with Game of Thrones this is great tour. Our guide Rod was informative, friendly and funny. He showed you where scenes from the show were filmed and also included maps showing you history and providing a lot of insight. The lunch at this cute farmhouse restaurant was phenomenal and included wonderful discussions with Rod during the meal providing wonderful insight into his world as a Catalonian.
Rod was a great guide. Girona was charming and the lunch was amazing. The castle was a nice ending to our day.
We took this small group tour with Rod as our guide. He was extremely knowledgeable, informative, and funny. A good combination of guided tour time and free time. The lunch was fantastic - make sure you show up hungry.
The tour was awesome! Tourists were able to see the different filming locations of GOT in Girona. The tour leader, Sergio is very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and made all the members of the group involved during the tour. He’s always giving us insights and some history of Girona and of course about the GOT filming sites. Also, Sergio drove the car very safely all throughout the trip. Don’t hesitate to ask him for some restaurant and food recommendations. Kudos to Sergio! The lunch included in the tour was delicious and it was a complete course meal! I highly recommend this tour to everyone planning a trip to Barcelona. It’s worth it!
Unfortunately we did not get to experience this tour as the operators informed us that it was not available in our chosen day! Instead we were offered a tour which took us to Girona and the filming sites of Game of Thrones without the commentary. Our guide did provide basic information though. Sadly though, an ice cream and lunch were included in our original tour but we we’re not offered these on our tour and we were also not discounted! I cannot fault our guide Xavi, he was amazing! I feel the operators could have compensated us though! Xavi was an excellent guide showing us the best spots for photos and driving us safely through some difficult situations. The tour was incredible, and a big part of that was Enrique incredible ability to bring it to life. His engaging personality and ability to make the tour feel a truly memorable experience.
Enrique was possibly the best tour guide we have ever had and we’ve had a lot of tours. He was very engaging, funny and full of knowledge. The tour itself was worth it but he made it so complete.
The drive is about an hour to get there. Be advised: Girona has a lot of stairs! We enjoyed the tour and the sights. Cam, our tour guide, was very enthusiastic about the locations and the scenes. We both really enjoyed the tour!

Our tour guide, Camilo was friendly, entertaining AND a HUGE GOT fan! After the lengthy tour we got to explore on our own in Girona. Followed by a delicious lunch in the countryside and a stop at a castle with amazing views of the seaside. Was nice to get out of Barcelona for the day and explore.
This was an amazing tour. Sergio, our guide, helped us visualize the scenes filmed in Girona by showing us the pictures as we approached the areas where the scenes were filmed. He knew the movies and the GOT books, therefore there were no details missed. Our lunch was delicious. The castle in Blane’s had spectacular views of Costa Brava. Sergio made the tour feel like we were a group of friends hanging out touring the world. Hats off to Sergio for a wonderful tour of the GOT and Costa Brava.

Sergio was an excellent guide. Gave us history of area on our drive to Girona and once we were there have a great tour which included both history and setting where GOT was filmed. Had great lunch and final stop at a fort with spectacular views. Don’t miss this one!
Our tour guide, Sergio, was amazing. Very informative, helpful and made the trip well worth every penny. I booked 3 trips with Viator ( Sagrada Familia, Game of Thrones / Girona, and Park Guell ) and I can truthfully say Game of Thrones is the best. Sergio made sure everyone in the group had a great time and he was attentive to each one of us. We learnt a lot during this trip. He not only took us places, but told us about each location we visited. That’s one quality of a great tour guide.
The old town was very nice to see. I recommend visiting there the whole day there is lots to see. Great experience.
I cannot even believe how fabulous this tour was. Our tour director Sergio was fantastic. He got everyone involved and he was do animated. Gerona was a treat and visiting the season 6 set of GOT was incredible. Farm house lunch was delicious and the castle spectacular. Highly recommend this tour!

Didn’t watch the whole series of Game of Thrones but learned a lot about it from this tour through our tour guide, Sergio. He had the actual photos of the scenes which made me more interested. He’s knowledgeable and we get the answers to our questions.

This is a great tour for GOT fans and those who have yet to see the show. We had both in our group of eight. Girona is such a beautiful city we could have spent many hours exploring. Our guide Sergi was very knowledgeable about the city and was awesome explaining the scenes of the show and where/how they were filmed. Our farmhouse lunch was a full, delicious meal including dessert!

Touring a medieval town and the Palace of Palafolls was mesmerizing. What an amazing time reliving Game of Thrones in real life location! We were engulfed in the City of Braavos & King’s Landing, felt blind Arya’s sword fight & Jamie Lannister’s showdown with the High Sparrow. We imagined Cersei’s start of her Walk of Shame & we peeked at the Great Sept of Baelor. Wow!!! Plus our tour group was so intimate, we were all immediately friends! Sergey was a wonderful guide. He was very knowledgeable about Girona as well as the tie ins to Game of Thrones. We appreciated learning about the history of the region as well as the perspective of someone living and working around Barcelona. Stopping for lunch at an authentic Catalan restaurant was a highlight.
Great tour for fans and also for those unaware of the show. The Girona tour was fun and insightful. The castle ruins were the favorite of my 11 and 13 year old sons. A little free time to shop, or enjoy a beverage at a cafe. Wonderful trip !
