The tour was good. Our guide, Alex, was cordial, informative and easy to understand. The botanical gardens in Blanes was nice. The beach was too cold to enjoy, and the rocky sand hurt bare feet. Lunch at the traditional farmhouse hostel was a nice touch, and the visit to and history of Tossa Del Mar was interesting. My recommendation is to provide pickup if guests venture down the steep path to the town at Blanes - I wanted to go, but did not want to have to climb back up the steep decline to get down there.

Departure & Return
Departure Point
- All of our tours meet at our office, which is directly across from the outside cafe area of the Palau de la Musica. We advise that you arrive 15 minutes before the tour starts.
Return
- Depending on the size of the group and the traffic restrictions on the day of the tour, your tour will finish back at the office, or in Plaça Catalunya, which is an easy 3-5 minute walk from the office.
Itinerary
8.15am - You will start your day at our main office, which is right next to the famous Palau de la Música. You will meet your guide, have time to use the restrooms, and perhaps even grab a quick coffee before the tour begin. Your guide will explain all about the day ahead and what to expect as you wait for you tour to leave.
8.30am - You will leave Barcelona though the Eixample district of town. As you head out of the city, your guide will give you a brief history of Barcelona, before letting you sit back and relax on the 60 minute drive to Blanes.
9.45am - In just over an hour, you will be transported from the hustle and bustle of the busy Mediterranean city of Barcelona, to one of the most breathtakingly beautiful stretches of coastline in the whole of Europe - the Costa Brava. Cala de Sant Francesc, known only to locals, is one of the few remaining coves on the coast that have avoided the crowds of tourists and big commercial developments. Our early morning departure from Barcelona means you’ll have the beach to yourself, and you’ll be able to enjoy a secluded swim in the crystal-clear waters, or wander alone the shoreline. You have the option to stay on the beach for the next two hours, or leave the sand for another day and come with us to the famous botanical gardens. With a little bit of effort, you’ll even find time to do both.
10.15am - The Marimurtra botanical gardens are home to a wide variety of exotic plants, but it is the amazing views from high up on the cliffs that makes this stop an absolute must. The turquoise blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea stretch out endlessly into the distance, while far beneath you the waves crash in an explosion of white against the wild coastline. You’ll not want to leave the cliff tops, but a typical Mediterranean lunch is waiting for you in a local restaurant. You can choose to spend all morning here, or you can spend an hour wandering the gardens and then go back to the beach you first visited.
12.30pm - After we leave the botanical garden and beach we will stop first at the Castle of Sant Joan, with its magnificent views over Blanes. From there we descend into the town for the highlight of the day, a feast of traditional local dishes and Sangria at a local family run restaurant. All the dishes are lovingly handmade and they have built a deserved reputation as one of the best kept secrets in town. After lunch, we will take a short drive to Tossa de Mar.
3.45pm - The final stop of the day is Tossa de Mar, home to the last remaining preserved fortified town on the Costa Brava Coast. You will have time to walk up to the lighthouse along cobbled streets with the ever-present backdrop of the Costa Brava coastline completing your view. From the lighthouse on top of the hill, you’ll wander back down through the old medieval town before dropping into a maze of narrow streets lined with traditional whitewashed houses and shops. After a couple of hours exploring Tossa de Mar, we will head back to Barcelona, arriving at about 7pm.
7.00 - 7.15pm - We end the day in Plaça Catalunya. From here, you can easily take the metro or a taxi back to your hotel. Otherwise, your guide will be more than happy to make some recommendations of where to have dinner.

Alex was really amazing not only showing us the amazing towns in Costa Brava, also sharing the culture and traditions. Barnes and Tossa Del Mar really incredible but the food!! Really good. We were expecting only one dish and we got a four-course menu. In general wonderful
Rebecca and Miguel were great. Rebecca especially was outstanding
This an excellent trip. Good amount of time at each location and all locations were beautiful and picturesque. The company the tour is with was wonderful. I would book again!
The tour was a disappointment. Part of the issue was the weather - drizzle to fall on rain, overcast, windy, and cool. The Costa Brava area seems to be more suitable for clear warm weather where you can enjoy the beautiful beaches. That was not the case on our day. The tour was marketed as a 10 1/2 hour trip. Ours was at least an hour less than that and was designed that way by the guide from the get-go so there seem to be a mismatch there. However, there really wasn’t a lot to do in the two towns we visited so kind of hard to imagine how you would spend 10 1/2 hours, particularly if you did not have weather suitable to spend time at the beach or walking the trail along the coast. The itinerary also talked about drive past of a couple of areas which did not happen. And the first stop, which was a lookout/fort at the top of the hill overlooking. Banes, was not open. The guide did not know this in advance so we drove all the way up to the top of the hill only to find the gate locked. So in the end, we visited two towns. In Banes we visited the botanical garden and stopped briefly at an overlook high above the beach that we would have gone to have the weather been reasonable. In Ross’s we walked up to the mediaeval village at one end of the town and took a look around there. In the long drive to the area from Barcelona, the driver did give us a lot of information on the history of the area, of Catalunya and a bit of information on these two towns and the attractions we were going to see. She stated that she would be giving us a tour at both the botanical garden and the mediaeval village, but other than walking us to the entry and showing us the map and giving us a brief orientation. There was nothing further in the form of a guided tour. She returned to the vehicle or a coffee shop and waited until we came back to the van at the appointed time. So we felt like we really did not receive the level of tour that we were led to believe we would. The one good side was that it was indeed a small group. There were just five guests so we had a Mercedes van, which was very comfortable and easy for the guide to navigate in the twisting roads of these hilly towns. I think that the company, Explore Catalunya, should consider only offering this tour in prime weather and ending the offering earlier in the season. It was a rare instance where I felt like I had wasted a day and my money.
This was an awesome day trip! Our guide, Rebecca, gave an informative talk on the bus ride to Blanes. At Blanes we had the option to go to the botanical garden or the beach (or both). I saw some of the garden (very pretty, plus they had bathrooms!) and then decided to go swim at the beach. The beach was gorgeous and there were very few people there. This was mid-October but we were blessed with a sunny day, and the water felt so refreshing. Just a note, the bathroom and showers were closed because it was the off-season. Lunch at the restaurant was pretty good. We got our choice of an appetizer, entree, and dessert. From there we went to Tossa de Mar, and we had the option to see the old fortified town, walk around the shops, or chill at the beach. I chose to see the old town and then managed to squeeze in a very quick dip before it was time to head out. I could’ve spent a lot more time at the beach, but of course there’s only so much time in a day. Our departure time was intentional to avoid traffic, which was thoughtful. Overall it was a wonderful day, and I definitely recommend this tour!
The trip was amazing!! I loved the guide, Karma, she was very patient and amazing at what she does. We also had a very safe drive, thanks to the driver, Miguel. i travlled solo and i felt very safe with the team. i definitely recommend this to anyone who is around Barcelona. Thanks to the team for making an amazing day in my life!
The tour, guide Varmen, driver and experience were wonderful The only downside for me was I attempted to reach them for 4 days and never received a response until the tour had already began, so they are not easy to get in touch with
Carme y Miguel were absolutely amazing! Carme our tour guide was very patient, nice and explained very well everything! And Miguel our bus driver did a great job keeping us safe on the road.
Wonderful! We loved it! Definitely would recommend to anyone wanting beauty and history! Carme was amazing!
It was a good time. The guide Carme was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of history lessons. Miguel was a good driver
Alex our tour guide was GREAT!!! He was great at keeping a balance of giving information, keeping us on time and also giving us our own time to explore! Even during the long periods on the bus he was great at giving us information and sharing stories about local culture and festivities! The botanical gardens were really nice to walk thru and the beach was amazing! Tossa de Mar was Beautiful with the walled city and nice shops! Thank you for an amazing work experience!! If you go I strongly recommend requesting Alex!
Alex was super. He was so enthusiastic and kept everyone involved. This was one of the best tours I have been on in a while. Highly recommend this trip. Ask for Alex.
10/10 Recommend!! Alex was an awesome tour guide! Bring your swimsuit, visit the gardens and enjoy the old town in Tossa Del Mar! Would do this one again!
Two greats towns to visit! Definitely bring your swimsuit you won’t be disappointed! Alex was such a wonderful tour guide- make sure to ask for him!!
Meeting location was easy to find. Our guide/driver was excellent. Very fun experience.
Both towns are beautiful. The restaurant had gluten free meal options. Our guide, Rebecca, was very informative and friendly! The botanical garden is gorgeous.
This tour is exceptionally well planned. Blanes, the start of the Costa Brava, is only a 45 minute bus ride. The botanical garden there is gorgeous with a beautiful view of the Mediterranean Sea. Lunch en route to Tossa de Mar is an absolute feast, and Tossa de Mar is a lovely little medieval village. Our guide Guillaume was wonderful, too!!
Nurya was fantastic, very knowledgeable and great sense of humour Highly recommended tour
Nuria was amazing! Best trip ever! Thank you, we enjoy our day!
We had such a great experience on the Costa Brava day trip! The meet up point was easy to identify via the provided address and we were immediately greeted by Explore Catalunya staff to help us get checked in. Rebecca, our tour guide for the day, was incredible. She was very knowledgeable on the history of Spain and Barcelona and gave our group a quick rundown on our way to Blanes which was great. She was incredibly helpful with translation of the lunch menu and provided the group with great recommendations for food, drink and Merce related activities. We also traveled with George, our bus driver, who was fantastic and made our journey on some winding roads feel perfectly safe. This day trip was the perfect opportunity to explore some smaller towns and swim in incredible waters. We enjoyed every part of the trip and felt that we had enough time to do everything (explore, shop, swim, and eat an amazing paella lunch). I would definitely recommend this trip!
Had a great time visiting some of the breath taking sights of Costa Brava. Big shout out to Alex for being such an excellent guide!
Great tour! Beautiful scenery. Blanes was a great stop along the way to Tossa. Also lunch was delicious and authentic. Definitely recommended!
It was nice to get out of the city and escape to the Mediterranean coast. Absolutely gorgeous! Tour guide was informative and I liked the diversity of being able to visit botanical gardens, monuments, the beach, and a quant town. Plenty of free time to do what we wanted. A great escape that I highly recommend.
Burial and raúl are perfect guide and driver. Burial arrange the tour good, especially the lunch arrangement to make sure we can have a tasty lunch. And with her professional tour skill, we know about tossa well in no time. Besides, Burial is a kind person who are not only take care us during the tour but also afterward, it is really appreciated
Great trip. Beautiful views and beach. Alex - wonderful and informative tour guide. Highly recommend.
Absolutely fantastic experience with Rebecca (and our driver for the day David)! We did a tour of Costa Brava with her and she genuinely made the whole day so special. She was warm, friendly, incredibly knowledgeable, and so easy to spend the day with. Everything felt well organised and relaxed, and she gave us the perfect balance of interesting information, local insight, and time to actually enjoy the beautiful places we visited. What really stood out was how personable and attentive she was. It never felt like a generic tour — Rebecca made the experience feel thoughtful and tailored, and she was always happy to answer questions, give recommendations, and make sure everyone was having a great time. Costa Brava itself was stunning, but having such a wonderful guide made the experience even better. Rebecca is clearly passionate about what she does, and it really shows. One of the highlights of our trip and a tour we would 100% recommend. If you get the chance to book with Rebecca, do it!
Jessica was a great guide. Informative and funny, but also easy going. (If you've been on other tours, you know what I mean.) Enjoyed the time spent with her. It was Informative and relatable. Her travels offered both insight and camaraderie. David. Some overlook the driver. Yet, our lives are in his hands twisting around the roads of Costa Brava. As a person who has driven extensively on public roads and racing tracks, I need to call out a safe, conscientious, driver. David was just that. Chapeau. Blanes was a quaint stop. A perfect start to the trip. Since it is an early start, we recommend the restaurant on the beach. A great start to the day. Lunch at Casa Pruna was also outstanding sing (recommend melon with jamon and cod with piqullo). Tosse de Mar. A vibrant stop with plenty of food, drink and architectural wonders of antiquity and modernity. A perfect end to a great day. Moltes gràcies! Muchas gracias!
We really enjoyed the tour to costa brava and our tour guide Nuria was amazing!!! We definitely recommend this tour and hopefully you also get Nuria as your guide!!
A wonderful day trip to Costa Brava! The views were absolutely stunning, the lunch was delicious, and we had plenty of free time to explore and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Our guide Berta was fantastic — friendly, helpful, and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended!
We had a nice time on the tour. It seemed a little backwards. The tour should start at Tossa de Mar and finish at Cala de Sant Francesc. You don’t get the beach to yourself. It was a very pretty beach. Where they took us for lunch ( don’t remember name) was a wonderful meal.
Amazing experience. Nuria was a great guide and gave a lot of helpful advice. You get to see a lot of beautiful parts and enjoy the sea. Definitely recommend!
Sergi was our tour guide! He was extremely kind and provided us with lots of information about the places we visited!!
Fantastic trip and to see the Costa Brava area was special. Can Sabata restaurant was great food. Xavi, our guide, was very knowledgeable, entertaining and made sure everyone was enjoying the trip. I would recommend this as a not to miss experience.
The tour was amazing!! Tour guide Carmen was an absolute joy to be with! The whole group was filled with laughter and good vibes! The time at the locations was just enough to enjoy with loved ones! It was worth all our money!
This is by far one of the best costa brava day trips you can take to see Blanes and Tossa de Mar! Our guide was Carmen and she was absolutely amazing. Her love for Catalunya and what she does is seen in how she incorporates history and explains every detail as we drive up to Blanes and then Tossa. The price for the trip includes a ticket to see the magical Blanes Botanical Gardens and an excellent Spanish 3-course meal. My family and I wanted to get away from the beaches near Barcelona and this was the perfect way to do so. The beach time that’s included was perfect and allowed us to dip our toes into the Mediterranean Sea. I loved every moment and cannot recommend this trip enough. Again, a huge shout out to Carmen for all her tips and wisdom. She’s amazing!
Carmen was our tour guide on the Costa Brava/Blanes guided tour. She was amazing, outgoing and friendly throughout the whole experience. If you can ask for her and you’ll have an amazing time.
A lovely trip into Costa Brava. Great value for the things included. Lunch was amazing and the portions were large. I loved the flexibility of having free time to explore. Carma was a great guide, sharing history, fun facts, tips, and jokes.
Berta was a great guided very knowledgeable. Informed the group even while in the bus passing different areas.
This was a great tour today! I so enjoyed it. Rebecca was excellent- knowledgeable, friendly, fun and always open to questions. She was attentive to all her group members and made sure we were getting the best experience! David was a great driver! We also had a fun group of people which always adds to the experience. Costa Brava is beautiful and beyond what I expected but a great tour guide and driver made it even more memorable!
We had an awesome day with Rebecca. Loved getting to see the gardens and medieval town while also having time to relax on the beach.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an amazing day exploring the Costa Brava with our guide, Alex. The tour was very well organized from start to finish, with the perfect balance of guided visits and free time. Blanes was absolutely beautiful, especially Cala Sant Francesc and the stunning Marimurtra Botanical Gardens, which offered breathtaking views of the Mediterranean. The traditional Catalan lunch at the Masia was delicious and gave us a real taste of local cuisine. Tossa de Mar was the highlight of the day. Alex’s guided walk was informative, engaging, and full of interesting local history. Afterward, we had plenty of time to explore the medieval old town, relax by the beach, and enjoy the charming atmosphere of this coastal gem. A special thanks to Alex, who was friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to answer questions. His enthusiasm and passion for the region made the experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Barcelona who wants to discover the beauty, culture, and history of the Costa Brava. A truly memorable day!
Fantastic and guide was extremely helpful and patient. She made everyone feel welcomed. Small group so easy to coordinate.
Great experience, informative but also free time. Great combination of activities!
Nu was a great tour guide. She was very well informative and made you feel excited. Loved the tour over all and highly recommend.
Believe me when I tell you, this tour is a must!!!! it was amazing. Pablo the tour instructor was phenomenal!!! I really enjoyed this tour and it was a solo tour for me
Our guide Alex was amazing - his tale about Catalunya and the towns we visited was very inspiring, you wish to stay longer at Costa Brava. Alex also gave us some tips on where to go in Barca, he was very friendly and easy-going. Lunch was delicious, Tossa de Mar and Blanes were absolutely fantastic, do not skip the botanical garden! Our driver, George, drived safely and calmely. Whole trip was excellent! Muchos gracias!
Wonderful guide, added much to understand customs.
The company Explore Catalunya was well organized. The excursion was as described. Arnau was an excellent guide. Our bus driver, David, was great. The lunch was outstanding. During the busy season a weekday would be a better choice.
The stunning beauty of Costa Brava is one of its kind. Recommended by a tour guide from a tour operator based in Spain, I ensured never to miss this one. While in a small group, my companions were fantastic as well. The most valuable part of this experience was, SERGY, our tour guide. He'd go the EXTRA MILE everything is well taken cared of.
