Itinerary
Choose your preferred tour time when booking, then make your own way to the Colònia Güell information and visitor center to pick up your audio guide and keepsake guidebook. Set out to discover the highlights of Colonia Güell and Gaudi's Crypt at your own pace, exploring the area's terraced houses, school, historic factory, shops, gardens, and co-operative buildings. Wander through the 19th-century village as you listen to how modernist architects were commissioned by Eusebi Güell to house the workers from his nearby textile factory. Admire the Catalan folk architecture fused with modernist elements like turrets and trencadis mosaic tiling. After your time in the village, make your way to the main attraction: Gaudi's Crypt, declared World Heritage site by UNESCO in 2005. Hear how Antoni Gaudi designed the church in 1882, and learn how the designer used it to test ideas for his main life work: The Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Marvel at the architecture outside, then step inside to wonder at the soaring arches, spiraling columns, and two naves; built on different levels to blend into the surrounding hillside. The audio tour concludes after two hours; you are free to spend as much time in the area as you like.

Beautiful experience. Overlooked by many as its out of town. Well worth travelling there ( 35€ in a taxi) traffic was heavy. Quaint little village. Peaceful and relaxing. Gaudís work is to beheld .
A beautiful example of Gaudis work. Breathtaking in parts. Although its unfinished according to the original plans it feels complete . The audio device ( included in your pre purchased tkt is needed). The little village is beautifully serene. I found a small hole in the wall produce store selling locally produced fruit and vegetables. The tourist centre staff were very helpful. After two or more hours I was looking for somewhere to eat and drink. I found one ‘pub’ open but found it impossible to get served. There was definitely a prejudice towards non Spanish speaking travellers and with very poor internet signals I couldnt make myself understood.
A short walk from the train station, you can walk through the colony which is interesting and free. But for a small charge you can rent the audio guide and visit the Gaudi church which is very interesting. You buy the ticket and get the audio guide at the tourist information center. You have to leave a piece of identification with the dek which you will get back when you return the audio equipment. The staff is friendly and helpful. Allow about two hours to visit the colony and church. Then if you want to have lunch there are only two places in the colony that I could see. But a mile or so up the road there is the town where there are more options for eating. All in all a very interesting and pleasant way to spend a half a day.
I was disappointed that only the chapel was open to visitors, though maybe I did not see that in the tour description. Also the audio device I had worked only about 50% of the time. The little town was very clean and walking around to see all the beautiful brick structures was fun. €30 cab ride there and back made it an expensive trip, and still glad I went.
Take the time to see this crypt and walk around the town. Worth going outside of Barcelona. Amazing architecture and interesting history.
My 9-year-old son and I went as a recommendation from a friend I met in Barcelona. I'm so glad she told me or I never would have discovered this place. It's a hidden gem, especially since there are no crowds. We were inside by ourselves at one point. I think it's not as popular because it took us an hour via metro to get there, but it was worth it to see the crypt. The town itself has some unique and beautiful buildings as well. We've seen many of Gaudi's works and this is in our top 3.
This tour was only memorable because of the Gaudi crypt. It was interesting to see from where he came; in that the crypt was his first 'gig'. From there, he showed he 'had something' and went to Barcelona with so many projects he never came back to finish the project of the crypt. It is an audio tour. It is a long way off the beaten path and only worth it for the Gaudi enthusiasts, like us.
Magnificent cultural beautiful historic place to spend some hours of your day. I can truly reccomended this place to every one who visit Barcelona and wants to step out the beautiful architectural visits in Barcelona city. It s only 30 min away by train from Plaça España metro station, and plenty of trains. You ll be very impressed of what you ll find at Colonia Guell , like time slowed down here. Reccommend Audio visit or a guide. Then you can refresh yourself in one if the bars you ll find here.
A picturesque town filled with beautiful architecture and history with the centre piece of the Güell crypt. Highly recommend the 1.5-2 hour audio guide to stroll at your own pace
This is the most expensive and worthless visit I’ve been to in a while. The €9.50 ticket will allow you entry to the very small, unfinished church + audioguide. The rest to the town can be visited without a ticket. The town is nice to visit: 10min. Definitely not worth the price!
If you love architecture you must go and visit the Crypt. It is small, but is magnificent and, because not to many people go, it is usually quite empty. You can see real design in here, from the columns and the beams, through the furniture, etc. The museum only shows a bit of history, some pictures, etc. Also, please remember you are helping a small community.
Straightforward service at Info Counter and then left to guide oneself with map provided and audio guide. Enjoyable low key ramble. The crypt has a magnificent ambience.
An easy trip by train from Estacion España, this half day trip gives a chance to get out of the centre of Barcelona to the outskirts. The Colonia itself, as well as the crypt ( actually a small church) is also interesting as promoted the idea of better living and working conditions for factory staff. Amongst the houses on the colony are a few notable modernista works by lesser known architects of the period. As for Gaudi’s unfinished church. Remarkable. Not a right angle in the place. The famed art critic and historian Robert Hughes called it perhaps the greatest internal space in Europe. Judge for yourself but certainly special.
The crypt is beautiful and you can get a ticket to see only that. There is nothing else. All the buildings that housed the colonia employees, factory, school etc are all privately owned and people live in them, so they are literally charging for you to be able to walk into the town and look at a few buildings from the outside. BTW you can do just that without paying anything. The have a small exhibition in the building where you by the tickets but all in all not worth it, sees almost like a scam. They should tell you in advance there are no buildings you are allowed to go into except the church. I bet most people wouldn´t pay, I know I wouldn´t have. THIEVES!!! LADRONES!!!!! LES TIENEN QUE DECIR A LA GENTE ANTES QUE COMPREN SUS BILLETES QUE NO HAY NINGUN EDIFICIO EN QUE SE PUEDA ENTRAR. ES UN ROBO, NO VAYAN.
Okay, so I thought I was only coming to visit the Gaudi crypt, but ended up buying a ticket to visit both the old industrial colony of Colonia Guell and the crypt. I got the audio guide version of the entrance as I usually do, which was only 1 euro more. The audio-guide is quite informative as it takes you around each of the sites of interest, with lots of history and background information. Although most of the sites are private dwellings or otherwise not open to the public. The Church designed is of course the highlight of the visit and to be honest, I've run out of superlatives to describe the work of Antoni Gaudi. The church will be familiar to anyone who has seen Sagrada Familia, with it's organic, almost skeletal looking supporting columns, the nature inspired stained glass windows and his signature Catalan Modernisme interiors. Overall, I enjoyed the visit, but I do think that the ticket price is a little expensive when you consider that there's actually very little to see in the town since most of the houses that are described in the audio-guide are actually not open to the public. The staff really need some more training too. They looked bored and annoyed. Okay, I get that it can be quiet at times, Colonia Guell is far out from the main tourist circuit in Barcelona and people do have to make a considerable effort to visit. The last thing I need is an attitude.
We travelled independently from the airport, taxi one way and public transport the other, and really enjoyed visiting the crypt and the self guided audio tour of the Colonia. All well described in English and accessible with not too many people. Information office staff very helpful

It is a self guided tour which was good however in the detail description need to specify that this tour is outside of the Barcelona city limits which means you need to take Barcelona train not Barcelona metro.

My opinion, which is not an opinion but a fact, is that two weeks ago I visited with my wife. My wife has a considerable degree of disability certified with a PRM card and corresponding accreditation. Well, gentlemen, the colony does not recognize these documents if they have not been issued by the Generalitat de Catalunya. Ours are from the Generalitat Valenciana. In no country in Europe has such a thing happened to us. Only at the Colonia Güell Defend this if you can
We had always been curious to visit it and it left us with a bittersweet taste. The crypt is impressive and although you can see it all in a short time, it is worth it. What we found very simple were the colonial buildings, where you cannot enter any of them and can only see them from the outside, and some at a certain distance. When we went there were no audio guides, but the ticket price was the same; I understand that if the service is not the same, it should cost a little less. It was a pleasant visit but it did not fully convince us; we were expecting a little more.
Nice, I think it's Gaudi's least known building.
Do not get an audio guide; you can do it with the map without paying €10.
Building without any interest. It produces no emotion as an architectural work. A hodgepodge of constructional solutions, like experimental. Materials, solutions, finishes, crude, runaways. There is always something to highlight An inappropriate entry of 10 euros, plus the trip there. The Guell Colony, no such thing. For scholars and Gaudí lovers or trend followers.
It's not worth it, precious as all Gaudi's work
2 h of pure happiness in a calm atmosphere , serene.20 minutes by train from the Spanish Steps 1 metro ticket is enough. Entrance tickets are to be taken to the village information center.visit the crypt of the unfinished Church of Gaudy, then a route in the Guell city stopping in front of the main buildings (school, doctor, etc...) with the explanations of the audio guide..Deserves to be better known.
It is not really a crypt, since it is not under the ground, but it would be the lower part of the church that the heirs of Güell did not want to pay. A Gaudí work and no longer need to comment. We went on a guided tour and enjoyed both the explanations and the work with its design, the details... It was a first step before designing the Sagrada Familia of Barcelona.
When I first went to Barcelona, I was sure that I would know this impressive work by Gaudi, but when I arrived at the park Guell I found that the Guell crypt was in another place. So when I came back to Barcelona, I went to visit her. When I asked the taxi driver to take me to Guell's crypt, to my surprise he didn't know and didn't even know where he was staying, I showed him on the cell phone with GPS and we went to a neighboring city to Barcelona, about 35 minutes by car, the colony of guell was in anode, the taxi driver didn't want to leave because he told me it would be difficult for me to arrange another taxi to take me back. However, arriving there, I was informed that there was a subway station nearby and that was where we returned. Well the Cripta is indescribable, a dream fulfilled.
The crypt is exceptional and the girl who greets you very nice with a great laugh. What I didn't like at all and it's the third time I go are the girls from the tourist office where the tickets are bought. They're slutty and rude. If they see you're not Catalan, they criticize you. You should know that's dangerous because you never know how far the person in front of you can understand. Drs. I'd give them a PR course and a sympathy course.
Very, very recommended the guided tour. The guide was excellent and explained to us many curiosities of both the buildings and the whole process of building the colony and what life is like today that we would not have known otherwise
The crypt is impressive. Both the building and the furnishings and decorative elements such as windows, bench, confessionals, etc.
Despite the duration (180 min), the visit became short and very enjoyable. The guide, Dani, managed to maintain the attention of children and adults with the interesting history and details of the colony and family Güell, which we were completely unaware of and interesting aspects of the figure of Gaudi and his work. We loved everything. Gaudí was an unrivalled genius.
Highly recommended the visit to Colonia Güell and the Crypt with guided tour. Unrivalled historical space and explanation of the guide, Carla, very interesting, entertaining and well documented.
We went to the 12:30 tour with guide for the Colonia Güell and the Crypt, we really liked it, the very friendly guide and I explain everything very well. Gaudí a Genius.
Essential visit for admirers of Gaudí. We went by car on a working day, comfortable and quiet excursion without hurry, being able to admire all the buildings indicated in the brochure. The crypt is a marvel, 52 years since we married in it.
It was a truly enriching experience. The guide’s explanations were accurate and demonstrated extensive knowledge of all the highlights of the tour. Listening to our guide, Dani, was a real pleasure. Undoubtedly, the most excellent of the visit was his ability to actively engage the group, getting the interest and connection to grow exponentially
We loved getting to know the Colonia Güell, a beautiful and quiet place to spend Sunday morning knowing the story told by an exceptional guide.
A fantastic family day. We did the guided tour with Dani and he was an exceptional guide. He explained very interesting things in a fun and entertaining way, very professional and attentive to all attendees. Recommended 100%. The very nice colony and crypts it a beauty.
We all loved the visit and the guide. Suuuuuu interesting explanation. The guided tour is very worthwhile. Thank you very much
A very nice place, houses with modernist architecture by different architects. Place to learn about Catalan history and have a good time.
Great visit, we did it with audio guide, but it is very well explained no problem to follow it. Both in information and the girl from the entrance super friendly and attentive Thanks for your advice
The guide, the explanations he gave us, the details, everything explained in such a pleasant way. The nearly two hours got short. 100% recommended.
We loved it. The spectacular guide in its explanations and kindness. I recommend it. You have to go with a little time to the information point if you have a guided tour.
Pleasant tour comprising the crypt and the rest of the Colonia Guell with audio guide. Better to do it first thing to avoid crowding.
Excellent tour. The Guide, Dani, super nice and prepared. Good disposition and attitude. Highly recommended the visit. All Gaudí's work, not to be missed. The church, the colony, the factories. Very interesting.
Great experience, the exceptional guide, encouraging the participation of the group and making the visit of two hours, very enjoyable
A guided tour lasting almost two hours in which thanks to the Guide explaining the history of the industrial colony, taking a tour of its streets, as well as that of the Gaudí crypt, which acquires a wide knowledge of various aspects of all this.
We did the guided tour and loved it. Guide explained all the history of the colony and curious things. An amazing piece.
Too bad. One person could not come and they do not want to return the €10.40 paid. I consider it unethical. I look forward to receiving it.
A curious place, the Crypt is amazing, Gaudí in essence. The exhibition is half in progress. The visit is recommended.
Highly recommended and our guide in Catalan is spectacular. I don't remember the name but thank you very much for all the explanations.
