Being originally from New Orleans, my husband and I have a unique interest and appreciation for cemeteries. This tour may not be as well known as others, but it is just as fascinating for the artistry and architecture. If you have extra time you should definitely go see this cemetery built into a mountain.

The tour was fantastic! Our guide was super knowledgeable and definitely helped us understand the history and see the architectural highlights of the huge cemetery. Montjuic Cemetery is a vast Architecture of power, memory, and legacy. In a monumental scale that requires a real connoisseur to tackle it. Omni our guide was that person, knowledgeable, curious, and able to point out the sites of interest all while sprinkling the local history and important information about the monuments and the people in them. A must do if you are in Barcelona. Onno made it easy and interesting to navigate.

This tour completely exceeded my expectations. The Montjuïc Cemetery walking tour was both peaceful and incredibly interesting. Our guide was very knowledgeable, explaining the cemetery’s history, architecture, and symbolism in a way that brought the place to life. Onno gave us a great private tour of Montjuic Cemetery. He was very patient with us as we climbed the steps and asked questions. He was knowledgeable and interesting! I learned a lot from him and I can share that with my friends who ask about the many photos I shared.

We try to visit interesting cemeteries when we can find them, and I wanted to visit a family site here, anyway, so we were excited that there was a tour. Our guide, Onno, was personable, relatable and friendly. We were the only ones on the tour that day, so it was effectively a private tour. It was a beautiful day with a steady breeze off the water, but I recommend bringing some water to drink, as the sun can be a little intense. We worked out way down from the top, which I liked, since the monuments get more grandiose as you go down to the bottom, instead of sort of petering out if you went upwards. Many interesting stories, and Onno has clearly spent some time getting to know the relevant history (where it is possible to know it, anyway). The views are spectacular, and it's a nice, quiet break from busier sites in the city. After the tour, we chose to take a taxi up to Fundació Joan Miró, which is not far, and fit in well with our day.

This was such a a great and fun experience! Very unique and not a lot of tourists. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

What surprised me most was encountering the graves of people I had learned about earlier during my sightseeing—it felt like a thoughtful callback that tied everything together. We loved hearing more about the stories behind the type of graves, the people who deceased and why such decorations or sculptures were chosen. We took many photos as we also are funeral photographers in the Netherlands. Met 8 afscheidsfotografen uit Nederland waren we hier op een soort studiereis. Zo maken we ook prachtige blogs over wat we zagen.

My tour was solo by accident due to rainy weather, but it was still a wonderful experience and so atmospheric. I got to bring my little dog too, since dogs are allowed in the cemetery. I learned so much about the burial practices of the city, and about some of the incredible people buried there. If you're a death positive enthusiast or just love gothic architecture and sculpture, this tour is a must!

Fabulous and interesting tour of this spectacular graveyard. Easy meeting place along the waterfront just South of the Maritime Museum. Guide added a lot of history of the people buried there, and unique stories of some of the graves. Beautiful sculptures with lots of time to take photos. Never felt rushed. Highly recommend this tour even if you only have 3 days in town.

I have wanted to visit this cemetery for years and it lived up to the hype! Absolutely Amazing!! Onno was wonderful, informative, and chill. it felt like we were just hanging out with a friend we've known for years (a smart friend full of interesting tid bits). He's also an incredible photographer and took wonderful photos for us. he was so much fun to hang out with that we are looking at booking another tour with him on our trip. It was, by far, my favorite experience in Barcelona and I felt everything else was either too touristy or over-rated. During this tour we only saw maybe 10 people in 3 hours, which is exactly what we were looking for. I highly recommend this tour.

The Barcelona Cemetery Tour was a great experience and opportunity to learn more about the cultural and historical relationship between the cemetery itself, and the city. Onno was an amazing guide and was very knowledgeable! My tour was a few days after All Soul's Day and it was so fascinating to see the cemetery so decorated. Highly recommend for anyone looking to get a feel of the city in a way that's a little off the beaten track. I really enjoyed hearing about the important figures of Barcelona's past buried on the grounds.

Onno was great! Started at the top and worked our way down the hill. He went at our pace (5 of us including kids aged 12 & 14) and walked for almost 3 hours. Answered the kids questions along the way. Almost no tourists around. Beautiful sculptures and monuments and my daughter took very cool pictures.

Montjuic cemetery is a major part of the history of Barcelona, and offers insights into how Barcelona residents over the decades have commemorated the deaths of their friends and families. To my knowledge, this is the only cemetery tour offered in English. The tour is paced to permit extended viewing and wandering around pre-selected parts of the cemetery. A lot of stairs, but almost all downhill, since the tour starts at the top of the cemetery. Tour guide was well-informed and personable.

The tour went at a leisurely pace that allowed us to wander a bit and take time to get a good look at the monuments and sculptures. It was great that the tour included transportation to and from the cemetery to a convenient meeting place, since the cemetery is not all that accessible by public transport, especially for visitors to Barcelona. Also good that we started near the top, so most of the walking was downhill. Highly recommend.

We spent a lovely morning touring the cemetery with Onno. Beautiful views of the city and very peaceful as we walked through listening to the history and about the lives of the people buried there. Very impressive variety of statues and elaborate mausoleums. Having a guide allowed us to see the best of the cemetery. It is so large that you could wander all day and not see some of the best sites. There are a lot of stairs but the pace is leisurely I was able to complete the tour and enjoyed it all. My guide, Onno, was excellent. The cemetery is very large so it was great to have someone who knew both the history but also the more interesting places to visit. If you like the beauty and the architecture of old cemeteries this one is definitely worth a visit. Plus it's a nice break from the crowds of Barcelona.

Where to start? Overwhelming architecture and beauty of the entire Cemetery! My favourite tomb was for the man who created the city planning was unique. The large trees framed the areas Onno is so informative and interesting I’ll recommend this tour to everyone! We were picked up by cab met Onno to start our tour. We finished and continued to a lunch that Onno had recommended!
