Best Of Montserrat: Private Guided Tour With Pick-up & Drop-off

Tour was listed as guided but the guide simply brought us into the ticketed area of Montserrat and indicated what the meet up point was. Ironically he also complained that taxis don't like their company because they only do transfer but that's literally all they did.

This was the 2nd tour we did with Barcelona Day Tours and it was a wonderful experience. Christian was also the guide for this tour and he took very good care and showed a lot of interesting things. He had in-depth knowledge on the history of Montserrat that really helped understand it better. Aurelio and Juana were very easy to communicate with and created a very smooth and easy experience. Highly recommend!

I am writing to share our feedback regarding our recent experience with BarcelonaDayTours. Our pickup from the Barcelona port on October 4, 2026 and subsequent half-day tour to Montserrat went exceptionally smoothly. Our driver and guide, Marta, arrived right on time for our pickup. She was engaging, personable, and proactive, providing helpful updates regarding the weather following heavy rain the night before and offering clear options in the event of a storm. Additionally, the overall booking process with BarcelonaDayTours was seamless and straightforward. We highly recommend their services.

Communication was top notch, both before I paid and after I paid for the tour, Christopher was timely to pick up from the airport. He was knowledgeable about the area and very personable. He was flexible with the tour to allow us time in the areas we chose to see more of. We even enjoyed lunch at a little cafe that the locals eat at (off the beaten path), which is something we truly enjoy! It was nice to enjoy such a nice but relaxed tour after arriving early to Barcelona and knowing our hotel would not be available until 3pm. Christopher dropped us off right at the door of our hotel.

The day of our tour was the national Catalan holiday so we were picked up early (0700). This ended up being perfect as we arrived at the cathedral before it got busy. So our guide was able to do some fast talking with security and we got to actually see the black Madonna. Also being early meant there were no queues for the fernicula ip the mountain or the gondola down. Our guide, Christian, was knowledgeable of the local area and his English was good. He also took some great photos of. I recommend this company as we had a few scheduling issues due to my mistakes and they worked through these so that we had the tour onnthe day we needed.

Every time we come to Barcelona we use Barcelona Day Tours and they never disappoint!! Do not hesitate to book with them, you will love their service!

Barcelona Day Tour provides one of the best private tour experiences around, and their communication during setup was excellent. It feels great knowing you can call them on WhatsApp and someone will answer in English to assist you! A huge shout-out to Jordie, our fantastic tour guide! Both the kids and seniors in our group absolutely loved him. He paid so much attention to everyone, making sure we were all comfortable navigating the terrain and didn’t miss a single thing. To top it off, he went out of his way to walk with us until he found a restaurant in the Gothic Quarter that could accommodate our group of 11. It ended up being one of the best meals we had during our entire time in Spain. Jordie was great, and we are so glad he was our guide!

Barcelona Day Tours picked us up at our hotel. Our guide Joao was great! He was on time, called ahead, took care of our luggage. We had a nice drive from Barcelona to Montserrat and Joao filled us with a lot of information about Barcelona, the region and of course, Montserrat. We had plenty of time at Montserrat both with Joao and by ourselves. After our tour, Joao drove us to the port in Tarragona where we were boarding our Viking cruise ship. Barcelona Day Tours is a very impressive company. The day before our Montserrat tour, they met us in the airport, carted us and our luggage around Barcelona on a 4 hour tour that we helped design and deposited us at our hotel. Just wonderful, complete service. Highest recommendations!

We had a great day. Stephen was an excellent guide (English speaking). He shared a wealth of knowledge in an engaging, interesting and humorous way. A perfect balance of a guided tour and free time. We never felt rushed. Eric was an excellent driver and watching the interaction between him and the guide was enjoyable. Every effort was made to deliver each guest post excursion with bonus recommendations regarding restaurants, flamenco show, etc.. Happy to provide a recommendation! For cruise travellers a great option for a day of exploring with safe luggage storage and door to door (ship to hotel) service.

We had a great experience with Barcelona Day Tours’ Montserrat tour. There were four of us on this tour. We were picked up after disembarking from our cruise ship. Pick up was right on time, luggage loaded in the vehicle, and off we went. Hugo was a wonderful guide, very knowledgeable and super-friendly, a wealth of information. The tour of Montserrat was lovely, it’s beautiful up there. We were dropped off at the hotel afterwards. This is a great way to bridge the gap of ship disembarkation and checkin time at the hotel. The tour was wonderful, my wife says we had the best guide Christian "the German". He was very knowledgeable about the area. We have had some tour guides that seem to be reading off the internet, this was definitely not the case. He took us to the two main areas we wanted to see and then some off the beaten path and "Hole in the Rock" places that we enjoyed. Was very kind and easy to be around we enjoyed the lunch and small talk all thru the day. Please pass this to him if you can. Would recommend him or your company to anyone who would like a personalized tour.

This tour was one of the highlights of our 2 1/2 week trip. We went to Montserrat four years ago and had Elena as our guide, she was so awesome, we requested her again for this tour and once again she did not disappoint. She is so welcoming. It’s like spending the day with family or a personal friend instead of a tour guide. She’s so knowledgeable of the region and seems to know everything.

Fabulous day with our knowledgeable guide, Christian! The car picked my husband, son, and me up at our AirBnB promptly at 8:30 and we returned before 4:30. Montserrat was worth the visit. We even toured the art museum before taking the funicular back down. After a delicious lunch in Montserrat, we made our way to a cava tasting at ArtCava. It was a charming vineyard with excellent cava. Highly recommend this tour!

Excellent experience. One of the highlights of our trip

Spain Day Tours picked us up at the pier when we disembarked from our ship. They loaded up the luggage and took us to Montserrat and then on to a vineyard to take a tour and taste the sparkling wine. The day was wonderful and they dropped us off at our hotel at the end of the day.

We had a small group tour to Montserrat and the Cava region of Barcelona. Our guide, Francisco, gave us the history of the mountain and the monastery on the trip. Once we arrived we had free time to explore the monastery, take a trip to the top of the mountain or visit the local market. After our visit to the monastery, we travelled in the vineyards for our Cava visit. We arrived at a small winery and were shown the process of making Cava and tasted several different varietals. It was aoutstanding trip.

Our group of five took a half-day tour to Monserrat with Barcelona Tours. The tour guide picked us up at our hotel as planned. Pick-up was on time. The guide spoke to the small group as we traveled to and from Monserrat. She walked the group through Monserrat and then gave us an enough free time to do as we wanted. Monserrat is a beautiful place, but we highly recommend doing it with a guide from Barcelona Tours. We do not hesitate to recommend this family-owned business for any tour you wish to do. 5 star from each of us. Our guide, Marta, was terrific!

Knowledgeable and entertaining! Will use this company again

We did a half day tour to Montserrat with hotel pick up .From start to finish out guide Marta was wonderful .Even walking us back to hotel after bus parked (lot of traffic) in a different spot .The tour itself covered all we wished it to and had plenty if unrushed time. Would always use them on any return to Spain.

We recently stopped in Barcelona on a cruise. We planned a trip to Montserrat with Barcelona Day Tours. They arranged to pick us up at the cruise terminal at 8:30 for a 5 hour tour. Armando met us promptly at 8:30 and away we went to Montserrat. Armando was a fabulous guide. We learned so much history of the surrounding area and of Montserrat from him. We all told him he should’ve been a history teacher. Armando dropped us off at the cruise terminal at the end of our tour. I highly recommend Barcelona Day Tours for anything you are planning while visiting Barcelona. There is so much to see in that beautiful city and Barcelona Day Tours will take good care of you. Communication with them prior to our arrival was excellent.

We had an amazing time. I am older and Martha made sure I was always comfortable and took things at my pace. The whole company was professional and ready to make sure we were comfortable.

Joao picked us up at the port, loaded our luggage and drove us to Montserrat. On the way he chatted about the sights and culture. At Montserrat, we had skip the line tickets to visit the monastery. The mountain and monastery are magnificent. We had ample time to explore but would have loved to have had planned a full day as there are tremendous hiking trails which were quite tempting. After our visit, Joao took us to a small producer of cava (sparkling wine) for a tour of the winery and tasting. Santiago welcomed us to the winery and enthusiastically showed us around and explained the art of making cava. The tastings were generous and delicious. Joao the drove to our hotel in Barcelona. It was a fabulous day!

The tour was great the guide friendly and informative. The pick up and drop off were seamless. I recommend the tour. Montserrat church was great, lots of history.

Loved the trip. João was the perfect guide, he was knowledgeable and friendly. When he was held up by traffic, he texted me immediately to let me know he'll be a few minutes late. Visit to Montserrat is worth every penny!! João was very considerate and dropped us as close to the entrance as possible. We had plenty of time to explore the place. The visit to the Cava distillery was a surprising highlight. We didn't expect to enjoy it as much as we did. Each of us were given 5 glasses of cava to sample at no additional costs. To top it off, he conveniently dropped us at La chinata at the end of the trip after helping us to make reservations. Worth every dollar!

This was an AMAZING day!! Our guide, Magdalena was so friendly and knowledgeable!! We really enjoyed her stories and the history of the area she was able to provide. She was funny and made us laugh quite a bit. The wine tour was also fun and our guide, Santiago was also funny and engaging!! Really enjoyed the full experience!!!

We were very pleased with our tour that picked us up with our luggage, included a guided tour to Montserrat and returned us to the port in plenty of time. It was a great value as well as use of our time. Additionally, as I was the first person to initiate and promote the tour on Cruise Critic and Facebook, they credited us for the cost of tour. They picked us up right from the cruise port, took us up to Monserrat which is beautiful! Our guide was excellent, gave us history and Information along the way. And they dropped everyone at their hotel, so helpful!

This tour was pleasurable from start to finish! Our guide was a fountain of information and the driver was very professional. We even made a change for our desire to go inside the Sagrada Familia and they were able to accommodate us with tickets. I would highly recommend booking a tour with them!

So great! Valeria (guide) and José (driver) were an absolute pleasure. We had a group of 10 with kids and Valeria kept it interesting for everyone. Even allowed the adults to hike and kept the kids occupied. First class experience with our own mini-bus. Recommend 100/100.

The tour guide was extremally knowledgeable on geology, history, religion, and several languages. The story of the founding of the monastery and the changes over the centuries was most interesting. But the beauty of mountains and the rock formations was fantastic.

I worked with Barcelona Day Tours (AKA Spain Day Tours) to create a custom tour for my extended family of seven adults. They were the most responsive company I've ever dealt with and were very easy to work with. Whatever we wanted, they found a way to accommodate us and to give us guidance using their experience. On the day of our tour, we had a fantastic guide and a driver that fulfilled everything that we needed, down to helping us decide upon a restaurant for lunch that was incredible and a good value. The guide didn't just walk us to a venue and set us free, but she shared many details and knowledge about it. I'm not extremely impressed with most companies I deal with, but this one knocked it out of the park!

We began our Barcelona trip with a visit to Montserrat. It did not disappoint! Our driver/guide Marta was outstanding. She provided all the history and details we needed to ensure we enjoyed our tour. Marta was welcoming and friendly. She answered all of our questions and more! We needed something to do after disembarking from a cruise prior to checking to checking into our rental and we found Barcelona Day Tours. They were able to pick us (family of 6) up directly at the Cruise Port with a private van. Pick up was timely and our guide was great. He filled us in on lots of helpful knowledge prior to reaching our tour destination. I wouldn't hesitate to book with this company again.

On our 2nd day in Barcelona, Spain Day Tours was again up to the task with a 1/2 day small group excursion to Montserrat. Our guide, Marta, was excellent, very knowledgeable and very friendly. Needless to say, the sights were amazing. We highly recommend this excursion.

Booked a full day with Barcelona Day tours....The communication from this company was clear and fast---they answered every question and provided options...The day started being dropped off at Sagrada Familia then to Park Guell-Casa Mila-Casa Batllo---Our driver/guid Joao was one of the best I have eve encountered...He is amazing!!!Booked a reservation for lunch and try paella in a beautiful resaurant overlooking Barcelona....Highly recomencd everyone to use Barcelona Day Tours when visiting

Our tour guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. We learned so much. The drive was comfortable and relaxing. I give the experience a 98%. A little more time would be 100%. Overall an excellent experience… everyone should see the historical 1000 year old site.

We had an amazing tour guide, Patricia, who took us to Montserrat. Our driver, Carlos, was also excellent. Patricia knew so much—not just about Montserrat but also about Barcelona, where we were staying. She made the history of Montserrat so interesting, even to our late teens/early 20s kids. She was 100% invested in making sure we all had fun and got everything out of the experience that we wanted. It was truly the best part of our vacation!

We had a lovely morning in Montserrat with Magdalina! For our group of nine, it was so nice to be picked up and taken straight to Montserrat. Magdalena was very knowledgeable and kind. She made sure that we got to see everything we had hoped to see, and even begged for us to be able to get inside the church prior to mass! I would recommend this tour to friends!

The Monserrat/ Cava tour on March 21 with Barcelona Day Tours was excellent. The port pick up for our group was easy to find and the Mercedes Sprinter van was a luxury ride. It was a very foggy day at Monserrat and, with less time spent there, the extra stop at Codorníu Vineyards with lunch was lovely. We really enjoyed the Art Cava vineyard tour. It was interesting to learn about the process of bottling Cava. The drop off right in front of our hotel on La Rambla was perfect.

Wonderful day with Hugo. We were a party of 6 ranging from 17 to 80 years old. We all had a great time & would definitely book again.

My wife and I had an excellent day. Christian picked us up for our cruise ship, took us to Montserrat and a winery, with a lunch squeezed in, and then made sure we got the airport in time for our flight home. He was a great driver and guide. Montserrat was spectacular despite a foggy start, and Santiago, at the winery, exuded passion. Communication with the tour company was excellent throughout.

We booked the Montserrat half day guided tour with airport pickup. Communication with Dory about our booking and payment was excellent and correctly indicated that Barcelona Day Tours is a well-run operation. We are nervous travelers, but our driver João was so personable, helpful, and knowledgeable, we had a worry-free day! It was easy to find him in the airport, and we could just sit back and relax after that. He was a terrific driver, guide and conversationalist. Montserrat did not go exactly to plan as an unscheduled mass and a downpour limited what we could see in the basilica and outside, but we were happy with our visit and it was all good in the end. We also really appreciated João's city tour and his recommendations for food near our hotel. (The tapas kept us going so we could make it to La Sagrada Familia on our own in the evening.) We absolutely would not hesitate to book again with Barcelona Day Tours. Highest recommendation!

Our private driver, Christian, was knowledgeable, courteous and respectful of our needs. The vehicle was super comfy and the drive was spectacular. Montserrat is a must see. It exceeded all our expectations. We had time to see the monastery for ourselves, browse the souvenirs and stop for a coffee and donut. With some spare time Christian took us to some Barcelona sights that we hadn’t seen on the HOHO tour bus and we managed to get some wonderful photos. We highly recommend Spain Day Tours/Barcelona Day Tours. We were kept informed and updated every step of the way. We would definitely tour with them again.

Even though we caught a rainy day, Moises our guide and Allen our driver made the day special. They picked us up at the Hotel Casa Fuster at 7:30 and drove us to Montserrat. On the drive, Moises gave us the history of the monastery, Barcelona, Catalan language, and the Black Madonna etc. Once there, he gave us the necessary information to make our tour of the monastery and the Black Madonna efficient. He told us how to get on the funicular and back down, where to have lunch and where to meet. Other than the weather being rainy and cloudy, it was a perfect tour.

We had such a wonderful experience learning of the history of and seeing Montserrat. It was certainly an emotional experience. Fabio was knowledgeable, informative and witty. He proved to be the most capable tour guide we could have asked for. Thank you Fabio the Fabulous for making our day a splendid and memorable one.
