Albert is a great guide. He is well informed and goes in depth about the topic of our tour. He is patient and willing to answer questions if you miss something he said. Well worth the time and money.

Itinerary
Explore Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece from the outside, reading its façades as a visual story. We focus on symbolism, design choices, and how the temple reflects Barcelona’s identity across generations.
Discover Gaudí's radical break from convention through its flowing stone façade and twisted iron balconies. We examine how nature, structure, and symbolism merge into a new architectural language.
Study Gaudí’s most imaginative facade, inspired by nature and myth. From bone-like balconies to the dragon-shaped roof, we decode the symbols that transformed Passeig de Gracia.
Puig i Cadafalch’s most iconic house blends Gothic references with bourgeois ambition. Its stepped facade and sculpted details reveal how Barcelona’s elite shaped Modernism.
Domenech i Montaner’s most ornate work layers sculpture, mosaic, and stained glass into one unified design. Every detail reflects status, craft, and Modernist confidence.
Plaça Catalunya stands where the old city once ended and the modern Eixample began. From here we follow Portal de l’Angel, tracing the line of a former Roman gate turned vibrant urban corridor.
Once the meeting place of artists and intellectuals, including a young Picasso, Dali, and Gaudi. Here we discuss the bohemian spirit that helped shape Barcelona’s modern identity.
The last remaining fragments of the aqueduct that once supplied water to Roman Barcino. A reminder that beneath today’s streets lies a carefully engineered ancient city.
From afar, a kiss. Up close, thousands of small photographs of personal freedom. A contemporary reflection on memory, identity, and collective expression.
At Placa Nova, Picasso’s mural faces the Roman defensive towers that once marked the entrance to Barcino, while the Cathedral rises just beyond, ready for your next stop.
In the Old Town, the Cathedral anchors the medieval city. We focus on the contrast between the 13th-century Gothic church and its later neo-Gothic facade from the end of the 19th-century.
Built partly with stones from the 1st-century Roman wall, this former Archdeacon’s house reveals how medieval Barcelona literally reused its ancient past.
Beauty and tragedy coexist here, offering a powerful reminder of Barcelona’s history. A quiet square marked by Civil War scars. Gaudí was on his way here when he suffered the accident that led to his death.
The Pont del Bisbe looks medieval but was built in the 20th century. This neo-Gothic bridge reflects Barcelona’s desire to shape its past. Look for the skull beneath the arch.
Four surviving columns from the Roman temple to Emperor Augustus build in 1 a.C. Hidden inside a courtyard, they reveal the monumental scale of ancient Barcino.
Barcelona’s political heart since Roman times. From the ancient forum to today’s Catalan Government and City Hall, power has stood here for two millennia.
The medieval royal square where kings received ambassadors and Columbus met the Catholic Monarchs in 1493 upon his return from "India". Feudal Barcelona unfolds in this stone setting.

Excellent walking tour that covers a lot Gaudi works. Great overview of the Sagrada Família and other locales. Carlos had an excellent understanding of Gaudi’s work and Barcelona’s history. Great value and a good alternative if the tickets for the Basílica are not available
Guide was very knowledgeable of Barcelona history. Guide was very personal in ensuring the group stayed together and was very open to questions the group had. Would highly recommend for your guided tour.
Albert is awesome & approachable! His passion for his home city is contagious. I would request him again for certain.
Great way to see all the Gaudi exteriors and learn about the history and architecture of the city. Our local guide Albert was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Highly recommend!
It’s very good. We learned a lot, and our brains were hurting afterwards. Her knowledge is extensive. I love that she made sure everyone understood before we moved on. Highly recommend.
Albert was a great guide!! He shared a lot of fun facts about Barcelona, on top of explaining all there is to know about the specific sites we visited. He also made it all fun and very enjoyable. The tour is super well thought out (Sagrada Familia, Casa Batllo, Casa Mila, Gothic quarter and medieval city) and allowed us to see a lot of the places one needs to see in Barcelona in a fair amount of time (3 hours).
Albert so fantastic! So knowledgeable, friendly, and has family ties to the area. Very easy to understand and kept us engaged and entertained. He even sent a multi-page document of local recommendations at the end. Couldn’t be better!
Tour guide was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and friendly and adaptable. So enthusiastic and detailed!
Albert was amazing! Super kind and funny, took us through it really well and made our first trip to Barcelona awesome. We really enjoyed the tour.
We really enjoyed our tour. Our guide, Polina, was lovely. Very knowledgeable, so much interesting information about everywhere we visited (not just stats spoken at you which is how some guides give tours). The tour was a good pace & we spent the right amount of time at each place & it was interactive which we enjoyed. Polina recommended lots of additional places to visit when we have more time, which was appreciated. We highly recommend Polina & would definitely look to book further tours with her if we were here for longer.
We loved every minute of this tour. He made it very engaging and gave us so much information about the city. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. It was the perfect amount of time and we saw so much of the city. Thanks again! Well worth it!
This was one of the most wholesome tours with history, society, culture but also entertaining. Albert was a really helpful guide. Recommend!
Tour was very informative - and the right pace for a group
I had a great time, great experience and it was a nice and knowledgeable guide.
Perfect way to get to see the city!
The guide was great. It was awesome experience learning about the city, temples and history about Barcelona from him..
Very interesting, the guide did soo well
Really nice tour! You really can see the most iconic spots in Barcelona, and our tour guide Albert explained everything very well. Of course the architecture is stunning but the stories behind everything really make it magical, i.e La Sagrada Familia! Would recommend, especially if like me you’re solo traveling in Barcelona and don’t want to plan out a detailed itinerary on your own.
Our tour guide Albert was extremely knowledgeable and made the tour interesting from beginning to end engaging everyone in the group. The tour is a great starting point to get to know the city with a local who maneuvered us perfectly through the three different parts. We can highly recommend touring Barcelona with Albert. He is an open book of knowledge. Show less
This tour was an amazing overview of what Barcelona had to offer. We got to see so much in just 3 hours. Albert was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. He went above and beyond to make it a great experience. I would really recommend doing this tour if you are able. It was perfect!
We had a fantastic walking tour of Barcelona with Albert and couldn't have asked for a better guide. He was incredibly knowledgeable, bringing the city's history, architecture and culture to life in a way that was engaging and easy to follow. From the stunning Sagrada Família and Barcelona's beautiful modernist architecture to wandering through the fascinating Gothic Quarter, every stop was full of interesting stories and insights. Albert shared so much about Barcelona itself—its history, traditions and the little details we never would have discovered on our own. The pace was relaxed, he was friendly and enthusiastic throughout, and it was clear he genuinely loves his city. We came away with a much deeper appreciation of Barcelona and plenty of recommendations for places to revisit. Highly recommend Albert and this tour to anyone wanting to understand and experience Barcelona.
Amazing experience! I really recommend it. I learned a lot!
Albert was a wonderful guide who gave us the stories behind the many beautiful buildings in Barcelona. He could also easily answer the questions I or the other tourists had, was easy to talk to, and made sure we had enough shade and time for a toilet/drink break. This made the tour enjoyable, even in the hot summer weather (+30°C).
Great tour that gives a good overview of the Sagrada Familia, Barcelona’s architectural highlights and the Gothic quarter. Our guide, Albert, knew exactly how to capture our attention for three ours straight!
Carlos was very knowledgeable, professional, enthusiastic and genuine. Throughout the tour he was very approachable, engaging and definitely knows his way around Barcelona! I genuinely feel this tour educated me and given insight into the architecture (way more then chat GPT)- if you get the opportunity, go with Carlos!
Our guide Albert was very knowledgeable and funny. Good overview of the neighborhoods we visited. Made sure we found plenty of shade on a very sunny day.
A 3 hour tour might sound long, but it passes by in no time, starts at 11am, so even when it’s finished you still have most if the day to do other things, the guide speaks perfect english, will speak to you and ask about your life in a very welcoming and friendly manor. You don’t get to go inside the main buildings on this tour, but you get full information on all the architecture and architects, that after the tour f you choose to go into the buildings that you’ll have a much better experience. Guide also explained Catalan culture. the tour finishes in the gothic quarter which has the cathedral, great food options and great retail stores. Would definitely recommend! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Very good experience. 3hr walking around pricipal monuments, with interesting explenation of history and culture . Highly recomended
Knowledgeable, experienced, good story teller Would recommend to others Including inside church tour as well
A well deserved 5 out of five from us. The best introduction to Gaudi's Barcelona you could wish for.
This tour was excellent. Our guide, Albert, was fantastic! I went with my wife and boys (ages 13 and 11) and greatly enjoyed it. There were stops to snack, drink water and use the bathroom. We learned a great deal of info in a short space of time without feeling rushed. Great way to learn your way around Barcelona and learn some history. Would definitely highly recommend it you are not interested or don’t have time to see the inside of the Sagrada Família.
Albert is an incredible guide! He is passionate about his city and the history he shares. I am walking with a cane and he was very considerate.
Albert was incredibly informative and organised throughout the entire 3-hour walking tour. Despite the construction work and the Pope's visit, which could easily have made the tour noisy and distracting, he managed everything seamlessly. Meeting a great tour guide is often a matter of luck, and I feel very lucky to have had Albert as our guide.
Carlos was an amazing tour guide, extremely knowledgeable and took the time to give us all the details and history on every site we saw . Would highly recommend this tour.
Albert was a great tour guide. We walked by several neighborhoods and learned some interesting historical facts about them.
Travelling for work, I had a few hours to spare in Barcelona and came across this tour. At 3 hours, it was the perfect length and pace for a taster of the rich architecture and history of the city. It mainly covered the Sagrada Familia, a sampler of the battle of the architects, and the Gothic Quarter. Run by locals, the guides have a deep knowledge and affinity for Barcelona, offering real and unburnished stories of the city, its architectures, and its colorful characters. It had just enough detail and variety covering the city essentials. Albert was a most gracious and insightful guide.
Our family and friends went on this guided day tour and it was very educational, learning about the history of Barcelona, Gaudi's work and the building structures combined with the planning process of Sagrada Familia. Thank you so much to our tour guide, Albert for the history lessons. This is a wonderful tour and we highly recommended it. It's a perfect tour, which introduce you to Barcelona. We highly recommend you do the tour at the beginning of your trip.
The tour was organised very well. We had an opportunity to know a lot about Barcelona’s history and buildings.
We had an amazing time and learned so much about Barcelona's architecture, history, culture, and politics. Carlos was an outstanding guide and we would highly recommend this to people visiting Barcelona!
Had a great experience with Roots and Roads in Barcelona. Albert was an excellent guide: engaging, knowledgeable, and happy to answer questions throughout the tour. He did a fantastic job explaining the history of Barcelona through its architecture, which made the city feel much more alive and connected. It was the perfect introduction to Barcelona, its neighborhoods, and the stories behind them. Highly recommend, especially early in your trip.
Great experience. Lots of maneuvering around people in the city. The architecture was absolutely amazing!
This Barcelona sightseeing tour was one of the best parts of our trip! The guide was excellent — very informative, organized, and passionate about the city’s history and culture. We saw so many beautiful landmarks and hidden spots that we would have never discovered on our own. The pace was perfect, with enough time to enjoy each location without feeling rushed. It gave us a great overview of Barcelona and made us appreciate the city even more. Highly recommend for anyone visiting for the first time!
Albert is an amazing guide. Told us so much interesting facts about Barcelona, the atmosphere was great and we really enjoyed it. Thank you!
Very fun and interesting tour with Albert! Learned a lot about Barcalona :)
The tour was really nice! Such a good way to start exploring the city. Would really recommend. Albert was a very good guide with a lot of knowledge about Barcelona and Spain. And he is a nice guy to have a good chat and laugh with.
Oliver is a great guide He’s clear articulate informative and funny. He’s a local and we learnt a lot local history He set a good pace and respected our needs I highly recommend him
Very good experience with Albert here in Barcelona.
What a wonderful walking tour. It covers the major highlights and it's mostly downhill, which makes it feel like going for a walk. The guide polite, engaging, and knowledgeable. Having a local guide makes a huge difference, and the group was small enough that we could ask many questions (all of which he answered thoughtfully). This is the best tour I have ever been in and would definitely buy again.
What a wonderful walking tour this is. The route includes most major highlights and it's mostly downhill. The guide was polite, engaging, and very knowledgeable.
