They left us waiting in the street for them. No one showed. It wasted a whole evening on vacation. They tried to blame us for booking until we provided all communications to prove them wrong

Itinerary
Discover Barcelona through crisp patatas bravas, creamy croquettes, and the simple pleasure of sharing tapas on a private, three-hour walking experience. With a local guide tailoring the experience to your tastes, explore historic neighborhoods while learning how Spanish tapas and Catalan food traditions come together at the table. Before you meet, you’ll receive a short Personalization Form to help us match you with the right local guide and shape the experience around your food preferences and interests. You’ll enjoy 8 tapas tastings and 2 glasses of wine, beer, or non-alcoholic drinks. The suggested stops offer a glimpse of what you could explore. Your route and tastings may vary according to your preferences, chosen start time, venue opening hours, seasonal availability, and preferred pace.
Golden potatoes with crisp edges, fluffy centers, and a generous spoonful of bravas sauce capture the appeal of one of Barcelona’s favorite bar snacks. Among the Gothic Quarter’s narrow streets and tucked-away squares, tapas bars reveal how each kitchen puts its own stamp on familiar dishes. Your local guide can help you find flavors that suit your tastes while sharing stories that bring the neighborhood’s history to life.
Colorful produce, regional cheeses, cured meats, and seafood reveal the ingredients behind Barcelona’s tapas culture at Santa Caterina Market. When the stalls are open, browsing with your local guide offers a closer look at the seasonal ingredients that shape local menus. Even a simple specialty such as pa amb tomàquet, bread rubbed with ripe tomato and dressed with olive oil, shows how carefully chosen ingredients can create something memorable.
A crisp breadcrumb shell giving way to a rich, creamy filling makes a freshly cooked croquette hard to resist. Around Carrer de Montcada, tapas bars nestled among El Born’s historic buildings offer possibilities ranging from classic ham croquettes to seasonal variations. Your local guide can help you discover your favorites while sharing how the neighborhood’s kitchens bring fresh ideas to traditional recipes.
The clink of glasses and conversation drifting across terraces capture the social pleasure of tapas around Passeig del Born. Small plates might feature briny anchovies, regional cheeses, or tender roasted vegetables, offering contrasting flavors to explore at your own pace. Your local guide can help you select wine, beer, or a non-alcoholic option for one of your included drinks while sharing how food and conversation make this everyday ritual so inviting.
A crisp potato shell, savory meat filling, and a lively combination of aioli and spicy sauce make the bomba one of Barceloneta’s signature bites. This historic fishing neighborhood brings a maritime character to Barcelona’s food scene, with possibilities such as golden fried calamari alongside its famous potato croquettes. Your local guide can introduce you to the available specialties while sharing the food traditions that connect the neighborhood to the sea.

Wonderful! After a brief intro to Barcelona, Alf took us to our first restaurant, asked about allergies, and our preferences. We sampled several dishes and beverages. We went to a second awesome restaurant for different plates and beverages. Our third stop was for churros for dessert. Alfs goal was that we finished the tour neither hungry or thirsty!
Alan was so informative pleasant lots of fun anyone who has them as a tour guide would be lucky The best ever
Frederico accommodated my family (8 people) needs and provided a wonderful evening, with some history mixed in. The tapas and dessert were an authentic Barcelona experience, enjoyed by all.
Alan was a fountain of historical knowledge. He gave us some insights into the history and culture of Barcelona that was easy and fun to assimilate. The spots he took us were fun to navigate and the food along the way was wonderful. Highly recommend Alan and the tour of the gothic old town area as well as the stops along the way.
It's taken a bit of time to get over my upset feelings about this tour to post something. I booked this tour for my husband who is a real foodie. Everything was fine up until the day before when our guide reached out stating that due to the time we booked most restaurants would be closed, and asked to meet us in town to change up plans- (which we were fine with and understood). Then he asked us if we'd like to do an extra stop and we agreed. We took a taxi to a restaurant where he was friends with the owner (we paid for the taxi) and proceeded to order multiple dishes of seafood from the menu though i told him I only eat shrimp. Our guide was quite rude to me when he found out that I would not eat any of the seafood dishes and blamed us for not saying something (though we had tried). We thought the point of this excursion was to visit multiple places, but he only took us to this one seafood restaurant. Even though food was part of the tour we ended up footing a good amount of additional money for one stop for food, not an additional stop (aside from the several we were expecting as part of the tour). My husband did say the food was excellent and he enjoyed it. The guide continued to act put out at me when I did not eat at the restaurant. When we left he also acted put out to have to take us around and took us on a brief rambling tour before both parties (most likely happily) agreed to part. I can honestly say this was the one low point to our entire trip to Spain. Please beware and set expectations early, I feel like we were scammed.
Alan was very fun and personable. His knowledge and love of Barcelona and its food was evident from the start and we enjoyed our time on this tour very much!
Allen was an excellent tour guide on this Tappas adventure. The food he selected was delicious and truly things I would never have selected for myself. But even better than the food was his knowledge of the history of Barcelona and Spain. We so enjoyed the walk around the area and learned so much. The day ended perfectly with the best churro’s made fresh in front of us!
The market was the best part of the tour. Our guide was knowledgeable about the entire region. Highly recommended!
Jonathan was great and tailored the tour around our interests. The food was delicious and had a great variety.
The tapas tour was a phenomenal experience, walking the city while hearing its rich history and of course, the tapas and drinks were adored by all! The best part of the tour was our guide Alf, you couldn’t ask for a better guide and person!!
Johnathan showed us everything he could with the limited time he had. Walking with him was like walking with an old friend who is showing you around the new neighbor you just moved into. Great sights to see! Great little spots to check out! I’d love to spend a weekend in Barcelona just to see what else he’s got!
Our guide was excellent. They made it an extremely interesting tour and allowed us to learn a lot. We were able to ask all our questions and she made it very fun.
Federico was very informative of the local Barcelona tapas locations and restaurants and explained a large variety of local foods and specialities. He was also able to include history of the area throughout the tour. A great experience.
Tour guide was excellent and accommodating to our requests - I would recommend though that Viator not allow booking of times during tapas places lunch break because there were fewer locations to visit which was no fault of the tour guide - those time frames should be blocked on Viators site!
Alan was friendly, informative and passionate about sharing Barcelona’s history. He had great communication and relationships with the merchants and restaurants owners; which enhanced our experience and made us feel special.
So much fun! Great way to learn about the local hot spots along with great food and friendly people! Highly recommended!
Alan was just awesome! He had made reservations at 3 different tapas restaurants. He made wonderful recommendations too. Drinks and food included! Alan was very knowledgeable about the city and food. I was in a mobility scooter and he picked us up and dropped us off at the hotel. The day of our tour happened to be our 39th anniversary and he even bought us a souvenir made by a local artisan! Alan made it an excellent excursion which I highly recommend!
Lots of walking. Very personalized to our tastes and walking speed. Great overview of Barcelona on our first visit to the city. Great introduction to local food customs. Our guide Pau did his best to explain his love and admiration for his home of Catalonia
I booked this tour as a surprise gift for my parents to celebrate our trip together. Before booking, I was sent a detailed survey asking about our specific interests in food, music and culture. I spent a lot of time filling it out carefully excited to create a special experience. Based on the survey and the price, I was expecting a curated, personalized afternoon that reflected what I shared. Unfortunately the tour didn’t match what was promised and what I had hoped to give them. Very little cultural or historical engagement. While Frederico was polite, the cultural context was minimal. He briefly pointed out a Roman wall and a few sites in passing, but didn’t explain much, and we often had to ask about things ourselves. When telling Frederico about things we really wanted to see, there didn’t seem like there was much effort to adapt or incorporate any of these elements we were hoping to experience. We didn’t have much choice in the tapas we were served at the first stop and then at the second stop, the waiter was rude to Frederico which made things uncomfortable for us. The third stop was dessert which we didn’t really want to eat because we were expecting more Tapas on a tapas tour lol. Federico was friendly, but very quiet and much of the experience was awkward unless we made conversation ourselves. There wasn’t the energy, enthusiasm, or storytelling that I expected from a cultural and food-focused walking tour. This was supposed to be a special, thank you gift for my family, and I was so disappointed that it ended up feeling unorganized, impersonal, and not reflective of anything I shared in the survey.
Wonderful tour and excellent food! Great discussion about culture and history. The food was excellent.
Alfredo was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. We very highly recommend him!
Our guide was very knowledgeable and taught us a lot about the food and culture. The only issue was with the description of the adventure and the time of the excursion could not happen because restaurants are not open at that time. Would not change our experience but may want to change the description of the excursion.
We were a little apprehensive about doing this as it is Unscripted (as the the tour suggests), but it ended up being planned out exactly to our tastes. Our guide took us around the El Born area, starting at the market with drinks and croquettes along with other foods to satisfy our Foodie tastes. We walked around El Born learning about the area, the culture and the traditions. We stopped at the original place for Los Pescatidos. We had Catalan dessert and Cava. I was quite impressed with this experience, especially not knowing what we were going to do and see. Would do it again.
Very friendly and knowledgeable guide who was great at picking the prefect taps dishes for a newbie to Spain
In a world where so few things are personalized and special, Annika delivered a most marvelous personalized tour. She guided my sister-in-law and I (only 2 of us!) through the mesmerizing choices of tapas and where to eat in this beautiful Barcelona city! She hosted us through restaurants and markets that we would not have seen otherwise. She spoke Spanish and English perfectly to get us exactly what we wanted even when we didn’t know we wanted it! Truly, one of the best food tours I have ever taken!
Fantastic! Pau was so knowledgeable about history, culture, food, sport, all things Barcelona! He catered the trip to our family , ensuring our son got to enjoy things as well - delicious chocolate desserts. Well worth the money spent!
As expected and other out of the way sights. Food and company both excellent. Interesting walk around El Born and the Gothic district
Jonathan was great , reached out in advance to confirm what we were looking for and met us at our hotel. We had the chance to walk around the city a little and get a feel for Barcelona before heading to dinner. At dinner Jonathan helped order our tapas and explained the local customs …. Felt like we were visiting a friend in Barcelona.
Bar Joan at the local market was a highlight - great to taste local food in a very local joint. 5/5 would do again.
The tour was amazing. So much more than just tapas and cocktails. Alan is lan incredible historian that taught us so much. We had such a great time. The restaurant choices were incredible. They were local favorites, not touristy at all, which made it so much more authentic. Alan mad the tour fun for all of us and we got to see a part of the gothic quarter we may have overlooked otherwise. I highly recommend.
The tour was amazing! Pau, our guide as so knowledgeable and fun! I would recommend this to anyone interested in a nice learning experience.
We had an amazing night of great food, drink and conversation with our host Alan. He picked us up on time from our hotel and took us on a nice walk weaving through the surrounding neighborhoods in the gothic quarter visiting amazing tapas bars. Alan also took us to see some historical points on interest and shared his knowledge of the area. Our family of 5 (including 2 teenagers) had a blast!!
Isabel was knowledgeable about the area and was good company. The Tapas were tasty and we enjoyed every minute of our tour.
