Our tour was lead by Antonio. The tapas bar choices he offered were not very appealing. He did however offer great restaurant recommendations for day two of our visit. The tour was very small - just my wife and me. Fresh off a flight from the United States, suffering from Jet lag, we were not prepared for such a small engaging tour. Having others on the tour would have been good. Heavy history content was more than what we were prepared for.

Itinerary
Meet your guide and small group by the fountain in the middle of Plaça Reial. Come hungry and curious about new flavours, ready for a combination of food and culture. Start in the Royal Square, one of the liveliest spots of the Old Town. Look at the lampposts designed by a very young Antoni Gaudí, enjoy the atmosphere under the palm trees, and find out why it’s called the Royal Square even though no king ever lived here.
Continue with a walking tour of the medieval Old Town, where the history of Barcelona began. Learn about Catalan traditions and the city’s origins while exploring hidden corners, picturesque squares and the narrow alleys of the Gothic Quarter, a maze of streets dating back to Roman times. Along the way, your guide will take you to a typical tapas bar to try pintxos, the small snacks traditionally eaten in the north of Spain.
As you explore Barcelona's Gothic Quarter you'll come across one of the city's best-kept secrets. Inside a small medieval courtyard, the four columns from the Temple of Augustus have survived despite the passing of the centuries. They are more than 2,000 years old, like Barcelona itself.
Stop in front of the cathedral, dedicated to the Holy Cross and Saint Eulàlia, whose construction began in 1298 and took six centuries to complete, from its Gothic interior to its 19th-century neo-Gothic façade.
Discover one of the most romantic and peaceful corners of the Gothic Quarter, a small square presided over by a Baroque church, whose walls still tell an important story from the city’s past.
Admire the colourful, wave-shaped roof of Santa Caterina market, which has supplied the neighbourhood since 1845. Step inside to discover the freshness of its products and enjoy a selection of traditional tapas, from the sea to the Iberian ham counter.
End your tour with a visit to the Picasso Museum, home to one of the most extensive collections of the artist’s work. Alongside your guide’s explanations, an audio guide will take you through the collection and Picasso’s early years in Barcelona.

Such a fun afternoon with our guide, Montse, who knows Barcelona like the back of her hand and took great pleasure in sharing it with us. She carefully chose two spots for delicious tapas and we visited El Born and it's many art galleries as well as the Picasso museum. I would have liked a bit more time there though. You will have a great time on her tour!
wonderful trip with wonderful ladies
Great tour guide. So knowledgeable and friendly. Wonderful experience!
We had a small group tour with Stephanie and she was amazing! Excellent tour! Very friendly and knowledgeable.
Stephanie was excellent. She knew her job and wasn't aftaid to tell us things about Barcelona that made it even more interesting. Stephanie took us to a great tapas restaurant.
Montse promised an outstanding tour and she more than delivered. Knowledge alone is impressive, but what truly set this experience apart was her genuine dedication and sincerity. The facts and details never felt like a script; they came alive because she clearly cared. One of the best tours I’ve ever taken.
We ended up having a private tour so thank you to Viator for not canceling! Andrei was a great tour guide and even showed us some hidden spots. We shared tapas for lunch and he dropped us at the Picasso Museum. I highly recommend this tour!
Thank you so much for a great day! We loved the personalized experience, the stories about the region, and the delicious food.
In and Out Barcelona Tours was fantastic about checking in with us as our private tour day/time approached. Our very energetic and FUN tour guide, Montse, was knowledgeable and funny. She went out of her way to be flexible and personalized the tour for our family. We enjoyed sampling different tapas, wine, delicious cakes, and of course a couple bottles of Cava to take back to our hotel to enjoy during our vacation!
Montse brings positive energy and great insight into this lovely city. The food stops were exceptional and she overflows with information. We enjoyed the street art and galleries.
Very knowledgeable of the area, arts, architecture and history. Generous with her time. Spoke English very well but also spoke French, Spanish and local dialects.
Stephanie was an excellent guide and she knew her history of the area. We started a bit late, but that was due to my mother not turning on her WiFi to get messages. Stephanie timed the tour right, so we were not rushed when going to the Picasso museum. Thank you Stephanie.
An excellent tour with Montse We would highly recommend Montse as a tour guide with her extensive knowledge and enjoyed all the experiences she gave us
Our guide for our Tapas and Art Tour was Montse . She was a fabulous , informative and knowledgeable guide. I feel like I have a new friend in the city! We enjoyed many local places for delicious tapas and treats. The Picasso Museum was so inspiring. Exploring the city with her has been the best part of our trip to Barcelona ! Thank you Montse !! 🙋♀️❤️
our guide Montse was wonderful! she went above what we expected and we love her. wish we could take her on all our tours. she was very knowledgeable on the sights and history. highly recommend the tour with her specifically.
Montse was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Our first visit to Barcelona was made memorable due to Montse’s personally tailored tour. She focused on things that interested us and went out of the way to share her knowledge of Picasso, Art and Catalan culture. I highly recommend this tour.
Montse was a wonderful guide today; she is so knowledgeable and tailored the tour to our likes. She knows the city and history of Barcelona so well; it is amazing. Her friendly demeanor and background in Art make her such an interesting person to know and talk to. Her knowledge of the culture and food made our day a delicious delight.
Montse was a great tour guide. She took us to places off the beaten path. Montse listened to what we were asking and tailored the tour to take us to see sights we were more interested in viewing. Took us to some great culinary locations. Would definitely recommend her as a guide. Loved her unique insight to the art scene of Barcelona.
We had a great afternoon with Montse, she’s very knowledgeable about the area and had great food and art recommendations. Would recommend booking for a wonderful experience and tour.
Highly recommended and a fantastic experience! Stéphanie, our tour guide was an expert in maneuvering through in what must be one of the busiest and most crowded times of the year as it was Dia de la Mercè festival. We even got to see some human tower building as part of the festivities! It was a group of four of us and she was very accommodating to us all and our various mobility levels. In addition, she meticulously explained the history of the city and had a deep appreciation for what Barcelona is from its people, food, and culture which helped us appreciate the city and its people even more. The restaurant selection was amazing where we had Pinchos (multiple varieties of sliced baguettes topped with various ingredients), where it was a choose your own adventure dinning experience. All were very delicious! Lastly, we did the Picasso museum and it was easy entry and strolling event. You had handheld devices that gave additional audio to certain paintings and rooms based on the number coordination. If you’re able to get Stéphanie as a guide for your time in Barcelona, you’re definitely in for a treat!
My husband and I had the group tour today, but it ended up being the two of us with Stephanie as our guide. Had a wonderful time!!! She was so passionate about the art, and the architecture of the city, willing to ask & answer all of our questions and tailored our experience to make the most of our afternoon. Highly recommend it. Thank you, Stephanie, for a wonderful time it was a pleasure to spend the afternoon together.
Montse is a fantastic guide! Passionate and energetic about her city, food and what she does. We had a phenomenal tapas and Picasso Museum tour! Great way too learn about the city, tapas, wine and art.
Stephanie was awesome very personable, fun and caring. Great information on the history of the tour while showing us great tapas spots. Food was delicious and entertaining. Highly recommend her this and the tour itself.
What an absolute GEM Stephanie was! She was so kind and so knowledgeable on everything art related - she was the perfect guide for our Picasso museum tour and she brought us to the most wonderful tapas place. Start to finish she was a joy and we loved every second of our tour with her!!
Stephanie, our tour guide, was fantastic. Knowledgeable, fun and energetic. A great personality with great insight on the history of Barcelona. A wonderful night.
Daniel was a excellent guide. He gave us extensive background and history that made Barcelona come alive.
If you only have one day to do a tour in Barcelona, this one is outstanding! It felt like we saw so many of the well-known attractions and our guide (Alberto) was wonderful. He gave us his phone number at the end of the tour, and told us to feel free to text him anytime we want for recommendations, restaurants, or anything else we may be curious about. We highly recommend asking for Alberto.
Excellent tour in every respect. We learned so much about many aspects of Barcelona as we explored art and Tapas cuisine, I highly recommend!
Our tour guide was Daniel and he was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable about the history of the city and good. We had a great time!
Daniel was an excellent and informative guide, catering the tour to our preferences and talking about the history and background d of Barcelona, the tapas we tried, and the architecture and art we saw along the way
Barcelona is a beautiful city, and Monset gave so much more context of it with her knowledge of food, with her Catalan culture, and with highlighting the gothic district dos and don’ts. We were not expecting to have such a friendly experience. She inspired me and my fiends in different ways. Gracias, Monset!
Our Guide Daniel was very knowledgeable and gave us great information touring The Gothic Quarters and El Born. Included were stops for delicious Tapas (Calamari, Pan Con Tomate, Jamón, Croquettes, Pimientos, Russian salad) followed going to another restaurant for Pinchos (3) per person. Wine, soda, beer with each food stop. Daniel also gave us a great recommendation for dinner (Casa Alfonso) Finally left us inside the Picasso museum where we did a self-guided tour. Note: Entrance to the Picasso Museum included in tour package but the audio for the exhibits is not. Also the guide does not participate in the Picasso Museum tour. The guided tour ends at the entrance to the Picasso Museum. it is self-guided after that. Highly recommended so you can learn about the history, culture and food of this beautiful area of Barcelona
Great tour, awesome guide. Montserrat was a great tour guide. We had a lot of fun. Knowledgeable, friendly, fun, interesting and informative guide. Very proud of her culture and upbringing. She picked great and authentic places. We visited several Tapas restaurants and Taverns sampling authentic food from multiple regions of Spain. Wine was included as well. Highly recommend this tour.
Montse was a wonderful guide. We had a lot of fun walking the streets of El Born and having wonderful local food . Strongly recommend .
Montes, our tour guide was full of knowledge and enthusiasm. She explained the history of Barcelona, the artists, and tasted some lovely tapas and deserts. The Picasso museum was well worth the price of admission! We were very impressed by her and her friendliness. This tour is a must do tour when in Barcelona!
Wonderful tour! Our guide Montse was friendly, engaging, and very knowledgeable. The walking tour and museum were really interesting and the tapas were delicious.
Montse gave us a wonderful tour. She showed us many things we would have missed. The food and associated regional history made each portion special. We had a great evening in Barcelona! Jim & Meleece
Montse was very friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable, and we enjoyed the art & food immensely!
Our guide Daniel-was excellent explaining history and types of tapas regional variations, etc. he was very knowledgeable of the history of the area and the architecture also! Come hungry!
Great guide. Good food. Audio guide did not seem to be available at the museum but felt we were informed via the signage. Enjoyed the walk through the old town and things that were pointed out.
Olga was very informative and made sure to share facts and sites we had not seen earlier in our week. She also made sure to show several different varieties of tapas from some of the different regions.
The tour guide was charming, well spoke and very knowledgeable. Her choice of Tapas was exceptional as well her choice of Pinchos . She maneuver us through the charming back streets of Barcelona highlighting all the interesting spots and stories associated with them. And lets not forget our final stop. Desserts! They were out of this world! THANKS AGAIN
We had an excellent tour guide. Olga was knowledgeable, friendly and out going. She introduced us to a variety of tapas and specialty regional wines, beers and even tiger milk! (Not made from real tigers ;)) We saw the market and many interesting squares and historic sites as we wondered around the back streets of Barcelona. We had some lovely gelatos from a place the Pope favors! If the Pope likes it it’s got to be good and it was. We had a great time in the Picasso museum. We love these combination tours with Viator. Thank you Olga for a wonderful day!
Tour good to familiarize self with area but overall the tapas were only ok. First stop was good, second was not and ice cream was not gelato.
Olga was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. She took me to her favorite out of the way tapas bars. Also a good overview of the Gothic quarter to enable me to a revisit my points of interest in detail.
Our Tapas tour of Barcelona was fabulous. Our guide, Olga, took us to four unique places. She was very knowlegeable, and we enjoyed the food immensely and really learned a lot about the area and its history. We also loved our last stop where we had churros and chocolat.Yum!

Very pleasant experience with a lovely guide. Could easily repeat.

Our friendly English-speaking guide Olga met us at a location right near La Rambla, Plaza Reial fountain, right on time. From there we walked through the Gothic quarter while she gave us relevant history of the area and pointed out sites, with all descriptions keyed to our prior experience. We were the only couple in the group so we were lucky, as it was in essence a private tour. We stopped at an excellent tapas place near Santa Catarina church where we had abundant tasty tapas with sangria, then toured the Picasso museum for one hour on our own after Olga got us in, with beat-the-line entry. There are hundreds of Picasso pieces from many periods in this amazing but crowded museum, and we used an audioguide. There were not many places to sit or rest in the museum and leaning against bare walls even where there are no pictures is forbidden too, and it was warm inside, so we could only do so much at a time. Would have to come back to experience this museum fully. The museum entry fee was extra, 42 Euro for two.
Then we went to a different Basque, Euskal Etxea tapas/pintxos place, drank summer wine, even tastier. Olga finally walked us through the district of Born telling amusing and interesting stories and pointing out sites we easily would have missed. The Modern Art Museum was also on the agenda but we were out of energy so skipped it. We finished with coffee and cake in a little alley pastry shop called Petritxol, with real whipping cream, instead of a third tapas place, that was our choice, We had had so much tasty food we skipped dinner. Total walk time was just under four miles on our pedometer, nothing was too steep. Olga spent six hours with us though the tour was officially only four hours. Overall, this was an excellent tour for food and art lovers combined with orientation to the Gothic and Born quarters of central Barcelona.

Annette our tour guide was wonderful. We met at the Placa Reial and began a walking tour of the Gothic Quarter and the area where Picasso lived and worked before moving to France. Annnette was very knowledgeable about the art and food of Barcelona and pointed out many areas of interest. Because both couples on this intimate tour had been in Barcelona, she tailored to tour to things we did not know. She also tailored the tapas, which consisted of a stop for savory dishes along with our choice of beverage. We choose a Spanish red of her choice which was wonderful. We then walked to the Picasso museum where ample time was allowed for us to visit the entire exhibition. While not included in the price of the tour, pre-arranged, skip the line tickets were available to us for 16.00 each. We then walked to our next tapas stop for dessert and Cava, the local Catalyunian sparkling wine. Annette ordered traditional treats of Catalyunian Creme, bread and chocolate and chocolate and whipped cream. it was a wonderful afternoon and we would do it again!
