Itinerary
Meet your guide next to Plaça de Catalunya, in the heart of the city, and set off on foot towards the old town.
Immerse yourself in Barcelona’s past and wander through the narrow streets and squares of the maze-like Gothic Quarter. Look out for the Roman remains still visible on many corners of what was once a Roman town. In the Middle Ages, this small town grew into what is now known as the Gothic Quarter, thanks to its great medieval and Gothic architecture. Get lost in these alleys full of history and legends. This blend creates a lively atmosphere that draws people from all around the world to this well-known part of the city.
Ciutat Vella means “Old City” in Catalan and refers to the oldest neighbourhood of Barcelona. Here you can discover the secrets of the Old Town while your guide tells you stories about the city itself.
Take a walk along the lively Ramblas, probably the most emblematic avenue of Barcelona, full of bars, restaurants and street artists. In medieval times, the boulevard was a seasonal stream that served as a natural defence along the city walls. Today it is one of the liveliest spots in the city.
Enjoy the walk on the Rambla and enter the Boqueria market full of life, colors and elegant architecture. Take the chance to look around and taste a fresh fruit juice or to eat something on the way. Feel the gastronomic traditions of the Catalan people through the colorful and exuberant posts, or learn where the worldwide famous Iberian cured ham comes from.
Get to know Plaça Reial and its neoclassical architecture, frequented by artists, bohemians and travellers enjoying a rest on one of its many terraces. This large, open space became an essential meeting point in the middle of the Gothic Quarter and its narrow streets. It is decorated with the elegant Fountain of the Three Graces and beautiful lampposts designed by a young Gaudí on his first public commission. With its tall royal palm trees, you can’t miss this lively and graceful square of Barcelona’s Old Town.
Pass by and admire Barcelona Cathedral, known for the gargoyles on its towers and considered one of the most outstanding cathedrals in Europe, with its bright cloister and towering columns. The cathedral is dedicated to Eulàlia, a young saint and patron of the city, and is the seat of the Archbishop of Barcelona.
El Born is one of the few labyrinths where you won’t mind getting lost. Breathe in the unique atmosphere of this neighbourhood, known for its mix of old and new buildings. Stroll through trendy squares loved by young and old alike, and discover historical and cultural landmarks such as the Basilica of Santa Maria del Mar and the Palau de la Música Catalana.
The Basilica Santa Maria del Mar is considered the real cathedral of the Old Town since it has been founded and constructed in Medieval times by the people of the neighborhood themselves. It is an emblem of the Catalan Gothic art and a must-to-see spot of the Gothic Quarter.
End your walking tour near the Palau de la Música Catalana, a jewel of Catalan modernism. Designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner, Gaudí’s teacher, this UNESCO World Heritage concert hall brings together all the applied arts: sculpture, mosaic, stained glass and wrought iron.

Alba was absolutely phenomenal! This was, without question, the best guided tour I've experienced during my two-plus weeks in Spain. Alba was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and engaging. Her personality made the tour even more enjoyable, and it was obvious how much she genuinely loves history. At every stop, she brought Barcelona's rich history to life through fascinating stories, historical context, and details I never would have discovered on my own. We visited so many wonderful places, including Barcelona Cathedral, Plaça de Sant Jaume, Plaça Reial with its beautiful Gaudí lampposts, the Roman Aqueduct, the "The World Comes to Life With Each Kiss" mural, Els Quatre Gats, Plaça de Sant Felip Neri, and so much more. What really set Alba apart was the depth of her knowledge and her ability to tell a story. She patiently answered all of our questions and did so with tremendous insight and enthusiasm. I never felt rushed, and I came away with a much greater appreciation for Barcelona's history, architecture, and culture. I cannot recommend Alba highly enough. If you're visiting Barcelona and have the opportunity to take a tour with her, absolutely do it. She is an outstanding guide, and this was a highlight of my entire trip to Spain!

Interesting overview if the history if Barcelona. Informative and pleasant guide. Enjoyable tour. Recommend.
Laura gave us the warmest, most informative, and most caring tour I have had in years. Top 10 in my life. Her laughter in speaking through everything good and sad is Infectous. She loves people. She loves questions and was fabulous answering them. In our walking tour of old Barcelona we learned a lot about early history, the dictatorship, current issues, art history (as an art graduate she loves Gaudi!), and her. Asking for her for a Barcelona tour is a must. I’m not just saying this. Thanks for a WONDERFUL experience Laura! Hope to be back for another.
