Itinerary
Get picked up by your guide at your accommodation in Barcelona. Once the pick-up is completed, the guide will take you to the first stop of your tour. You will start on Montjuïc Mountain, from where you will enjoy superb panoramic views of the city. Montjuïc, originally used as a strategic place to protect the city against attacks, is now home to the famous Miró Foundation and CaixaForum. These and other buildings on the hill are perfect examples of modern art and contemporary architecture. Montjuïc also includes examples of town planning and architecture especially designed for the 1929 International Exhibition.
Further on, you will head to Barcelona’s waterfront, passing by famous city sights. Pass along Las Ramblas, a very famous avenue, home to many bars, restaurants and shops.
Along the way, you may pass by the best-known covered market of the city, La Boqueria. The market offers a great variety of fresh, high-quality products. Here you can feel the gastronomic traditions of the Catalan people through its colourful and lively stalls, or learn where the world-famous Iberian cured ham comes from.
Pass by Barceloneta, once the home of fishermen and people working in the fishing trade and the metal industry, and nowadays one of the city’s most visited and popular districts. The neighbourhood, with its narrow, straight streets, was built on a military grid to house the former inhabitants of La Ribera, who had lost their homes due to the construction of the Citadel.
Continue the day with a walking tour through the medieval part of the city. Enjoy a stroll in the Gothic Quarter, one of the districts that make up Ciutat Vella, the old town of the city. In Ciutat Vella, where the history of Barcelona began, you will experience modernity woven with Roman and medieval imprints. There you will learn about Catalan traditions and Barcelona’s origins, while exploring the enchanting corners, picturesque squares and narrow alleys of the Gothic Quarter.
Along the walking tour, you will see Plaça Reial, a sparkling square with a very warm atmosphere.
As you explore Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, you’ll come across one of the city’s best-kept secrets. Inside a small medieval courtyard, the four columns of the Temple of Augustus have survived despite the passing of the centuries. They are more than 2,000 years old, like Barcelona itself.
Pass by Barcelona Cathedral and discover its façade and its combination of Romanesque, Gothic and neo-Gothic styles, the result of being built over six centuries. Funded by donations from the medieval brotherhoods and guilds, the building work on the cathedral of the Holy Cross began in 1298 and was completed around 1890, following the original plans, in the neo-Gothic style.
The romantic, slightly faded Plaça Sant Felip Neri is an unmissable corner of the Gothic Quarter. Presided over by the Baroque church from which it takes its name, the square features a number of historic elements that make it particularly attractive.
Along the way, pass through Passeig de Gràcia, with its typical Catalan architecture. The avenue is home to the most remarkable modernist façades, including Gaudí’s La Pedrera and Casa Batlló, Domènech i Montaner’s Casa Lleó Morera and Puig i Cadafalch’s Casa Amatller.
Marvel at the beautiful façade of Casa Batlló, with its vibrant colours and details that make it one of Gaudí’s most iconic works.
Take in the unique, wave-like façade of Casa Milà, or La Pedrera, a true Gaudí masterpiece that stands out for its bold design.
The Sagrada Familia is sure to leave a lasting impression. Experience a moment full of emotion as you admire Gaudí’s masterpiece, considered the most emblematic landmark of Barcelona. The symbolic sculpted façades will certainly be the highlight of your tour.

Our guide Vincent did an excellent job. Very informative and extremely personable. I highly recommend this tour.
We had a great day visiting Montserrat with Miguel! He was wonderful with communication, picked us up right at our hotel, and even took the time to learn all our family members’ names. He also kept us updated as we picked up the other guests before heading out. Once our group of five was together, we headed to Montserrat. Miguel guided us up to the Basilica and shared interesting information along the way. He pointed out the sights and explained the different options for our free time so we could decide how we wanted to spend it. Our group decided to stick together, so we walked up to the cross, stopped at the gift shop, and then visited the farmers market. We really enjoyed having the freedom to explore at our own pace. On the drive back to Barcelona, we took the southern route, which made for a nice loop around the mountain. It was great to see a different side of Montserrat on the way back. We would definitely recommend Miguel! He is knowledgeable, entertaining, and happy to answer any questions. He made the whole experience enjoyable and gave us a wonderful day that our family will remember. If you’re planning a trip to Montserrat, Miguel is a great choice! 🇨🇦
Miguel, our guide, was really amazing. First, the pick up was stress free. The day before, we received clear information about the time for pickup and Miguel also called us beforehand to let us know he was arriving. He was also an excellent driver and was always attentive to our safety. He was very knowledgeable and shared many interesting bits of information with us, and cracked many jokes throughout the day too. Montserrat is really beautiful and it was a really great tour, highly recommend!
Baggio was great! He was so flexible in pick up and catering to our group needs and timing issues. We loved having him as our guide!!
Baggio was a great guide. He highlighted all of the best spots in the city, was a great driver and guide, and explained sites in details that were palatable and enjoyable.
We had an amazing tour guide. Baggio was very knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and accommodating. I would highly recommend.
Baggio was fantastic, his knowledge on the basilica alone was worth every bit. Highly suggested!!!
Alberto was an excellent guide, enthusiastic, articulate and very knowledgeable. Our walking tour of the Gothic quarter was slowly paced and historic architectural information was interspersed with amusing stories. We drove to Monjuic with a great overview of the city. Overall a great tour.
The tour was wonderful. Alejandro was very personable and had a wealth of knowledge. I would recommend Alejandro to anyone looking to do a private tour of the city.
Our tour guide (Baggio) was extremely knowledgeable, flexible and had a great sense of humor. This tour gives you a great overview of Barcelona with a couple of stops to explore the sights. Highly recommend.
Miqel “Uncle Mike” was a marvel. We enjoyed our time with him. He made 5 hours go by so quickly because he was very knowledgeable, entertaining and enthusiastic. He was a one man show. He drove, enlightened us with his wit and made us laugh, all while giving us in depth historical information about the area or place we were in. Our tour was a small group and “Uncle Mike” provided door to door service. He even took our pictures and knew the best spots to take them and taught us the best way to take ceiling photos. We highly recommend him. We will definitely sign up with him next time we are in town. Thanks Uncle Mike!
What a beautiful experience this tour was! Miquel was so very informative and he has a great sense of humor! I was so happy to let him do the driving for us so that we could enjoy all of the many things that he pointed out to us and took us to see. I would highly recommend not only this tour, but Miquel, as well!!
This was a great walking/driving tour. Vincent was extremely knowledgeable (and very friendly), and communicated via text to coordinate my hotel pick-up. He even recommended a great spot for dinner. Highly recommend!
Wonderful experience and our guide Ramon was the best! The tour itself was interesting and informative.
We saw places I never expected to see. It was an excellent tour from beginning to end. Vincent had a lot of insight on many things. The others right by not even noticing.
Excellent overview and highlights of Barcelona. Views from Montjuïc Park (Parc de Montjuïc), The Gothic Quarter (Barri Gòtic), La Sagrada Família. A perfect day and way to explore the city. Mario was a knowledgeable and enjoyable guide.
Gaspar was amazing! He was knowledgeable, personable and professional. I really enjoyed his personal insights he shared throughout the day.
Excellent tour with Gaspar, a knowledgeable, funny local with so much information to share. A great tour I enjoyed very much
This was a great tour! Our guide Gaspar was extremely knowledgeable, funny, nice and a great tour guide. I got a great overview of this beautiful city of Barcelona. I would highly recommend!
Hernando was our guide and he was awesome! The walking tour was great, he took us to many places. Very informatiive. He also picked us up at our hotel which was really great. Ask for Hernando when yiu book this tour - you will not be disappointed
Lots of walking on this tour. Expectaifon was that we would be driven to much of the locations but tour was significant in walking. Needed to emphasize to driver that we wanted to be dropped off at our hotel instead of location convenient to him.
Miquel is a wonderful guide, friendly, funny and attentive! Would recommend.
It was nice to be picked up at our hotel, especially since this was our first time in Barcelona. Our guide, Montse was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable and our driver, Agustin maneuvered us skillfully through the city. This tour is an excellent way for first time visitors to understand the layout of the city.
Our tour guide, Miquel, was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and his English was perfect. He made every stop convenient!
The tour was comprehensive and the small group size made it more enjoyable. Ane our tour guide was great and very knowledgeable.
We have traveled around the World. This tour was awesome and the tour guide Ramon was the best we have ever had. Such a love for his country and passionate about his job. It showed in every aspect of the tour. Highly recommend!
Alejandro was knowledgeable and eager to answer questions. Wonderful tour, especially if you have limited time.
Alejandro did a great job, he communicated well and provided great insights during the tour.
We have just spent the most magical day with Alejandro visiting all the best sight's across Barcelona. We are 3 generations of one family 13, 50 and 75 and we all thoroughly enjoyed Alejandro’s company, he is filled with interesting stories and information and made learning super fun. There wasn’t too much walking for the older member of our group and not boring for the youngest which can sometimes be a challenge! We all now want to return and spend more time with hi. Learning about beautiful Barcelona! Thank you! 💖
Viator should have said that this tour had a lot of walking. We ended walking 15,729 steps. We are 77yrs old and not used to that much walking but we made it.
Matt is excellent and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend
Gaspar was a great guide. Very personable and tailored the experience to our wishes. We did have a vehicle problem but he handled it very professionally. Took us to an attraction and he was back in 30 minutes with another vehicle to be on our way.
Adrian was a fantastic guide with a wealth of knowledge about Barcelona. With hotel pick up, the tour was seamless. Highly recommend!
fabulous tour, Matt was an amazing guide, got to see so much of Barcelona. learned so much about the history
Our guide and driver were very nice, but overall the tour was very disappointing. Description makes it sound amazing but in reality it’s just a lot of name dropping of sights. The only good part was the 1 hour walking tour of the gothic quarter which I could have done myself with a map and a little reading. $100 usd. Definitely not worth it Also said it was 5 hours. Right from the start the guide said I would be back to my hotel in 4 hours. What ? So another false/ misleading part of the description. Would not recommend
Matt ran a well paced, informative tour that not only accommodated differing abilities but did it in Spanish & English as well. A good small group highlights tour that cut through the crowds & confusion of a crowded busy new location
Matt was amazing, very organised kind and considerate of everyone’s needs in the group :)!
Matteo was very informative and pleasant
Found we were confused & mislead in what we thought we were purchasing. The tour itself was quite good & the guide outstanding but not what we were expecting. This was also the experience of another couple in our group.
Fantastic tour, the guide (Mario) was amazing and informative. Had some initial communication issues with the booking company (In & Out Barcelona) and slight delay in puck up, but at no fault of the tour guide. Had a great walk and tour around the city to multiple fantastic sights and learned some excellent history and context pertaining to events, people, and sights. The various guests booked through multiple agencies and each had different write ups and different expectations of what was included. Our description was the most accurate of them all.
We loved our private tour with Liana. She is very experienced and knowledgeable in both - art and history. Great driver too! Excellent experience all around, highly recommended!
Very knowledgeable tour guide Matt. We learned so much from him about Barcelona. There is a lot more walking than what we believed was the case when making plans for this excursion. The experience was wonderful. Enough people so we would not be bored but not too many people where we receive enough attention. I recommend Matt for your tour guide.
Matt was a great guide! Super tour!
The tour was amazing and mat was very good
We spent an afternoon touring the sights with our wonderful tour guide Alba she was outstanding with her local knowledge and her passion for the city She gave ample amount of time to enjoy the different highlights We feel that Alba and our driver Louis gave us the best experience possible during our tour
Great tour! Anatoli was very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. Van was very comfortable.
Anatoli was our guide that gave us a tour around the beautiful city of Barcelona. He was on time to pick us up (despite all the construction around our hotel) and was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend him and take one of his tours again.
Our tour guide Mario was fantastic! He obviously loves the city he has adopted as his own and was very knowledgeable. He answered our questions with great patience and he knew the answer to all of them. Barcelona (and Mario) thank you for your wonderful hospitality!
Great tour! Anatoli did an excellent job. He was very pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. A+ John S.
