Alex was informative and genial. Knew Barcelona’s food and wine and local venues well as well as its history . Apart from the rain we really enjoyed the experience.

Itinerary
You’ll begin your tour at one of the most iconic tapas bars in the city. Serving locals with delicious fare for decades, this spot is a must for any food lover. You’ll sample a perfectly paired aperitif along with a hand-picked selection of cured meats and cheeses. You’ll also try a true classic Spanish potato dish - a perfect introduction to the city’s specialties.
Before or after your introduction to one of Barcelona’s most historic spots (depending on if your tour takes place in the morning or the afternoon), it’s only fitting to take a stroll through the Gothic Quarter. As you weave through its narrow streets, passing Ancient Roman ruins, you’ll travel through a thousand years of history. Your guide will furnish you with the extra details that make the streets truly come to life.
The second tapas bar on our tour opened in 1945 with a menu consisting of four tapas dishes. Naturally, these have been perfected through the years and carefully chosen to exemplify what makes Spanish food unique: simple recipes prepared with the highest quality ingredients.
At your last stop, you’ll be treated to a sit-down meal at a local spot dating back to the early 20th century. Indulge in a classic selection of Catalan dishes such as croquettes and cannelloni paired with local wine, and top it off with a delicious traditional dessert.

James was absolutely fabulous. He had so much knowledge about the history and food of Barcelona. I highly recommend this tour! It was a wonderful evening. So much food and drinks! Thank you, James!
Alexandra our guide was amazing, very knowledgeable and warm personality
Devour Tours guides are great. This was my 2nd time doing this walking tour. The Gothic Quarter is fascinating and hearing about all the historical background enhanced our enjoyment. We visited 3 wonderful old bars it’s delicious tapas and wine in each one. It was a small group which gave us a chance to talk to everyone and made it a fun walk. Eric was a great guide and everyone had a wonderful time. It is not a strenuous walk and our friend with a cane had no trouble staying with the group. Don’t miss it, it was the highlight of our trip to Barcelona.
This was a nice tour with three stops and multiple tastings and a glass of wine (or two) at each stop. Our tour guide James was a professional chef and was extremely knowledgeable about food and wine. This was not the best food tour we have been on, but it was enjoyable. We had a small group, which was nice.
Hector was our guide and he was fantastic. He was highly knowledgeable and enriched the experience by sharing engaging stories and valuable background information during the tour.
We had a wonderful time on this tour with our guide Alejandra.
Fantastic tour. Very personable and knowledgeable. Food , drinks, and stories were plentiful. Definitely a must and will do it again.
Hector was a wonderful guide giving us excellent information as we toured the Gothic Quarter. We really enjoyed going to family-owned and ran shops for tapas and wine! Highly recommend!
Loved this experience! Vera was a great guide!
This was such a fun tour. Andrea was so knowledgeable and told us so many stories and details about this area we never would have known. The food and wines we tried were all delicious and there was a great selection.
Tour guide too fast no consideration for a person having trouble walking. Left after the fire stop and she was rude. Not a good experience
We had an amazing time eating and drinking around the gothic quarter! James, our tour guide, was amazing with describing the history, food, and drinks. His personality and ability to get the crowd engaged and active along the tour made the experience much more enjoyable! I highly recommend this tour with James as your guide, you will learn so much about the history of Spain, have some laughs, and leave with a stomach full of memorable food and drink!
Luke was a wonderful guide sharing history on food and architecture. His background in art history really added another dimension! Recommend highly!
We jad a great time. Alex was fantastic - fun and very informative. Great way to see some local culture.
What a great way to start our time in Barcelona! The Tapas and Taverns tour oriented us not only to the food culture of Barcelona but also to the culinary influences and history of this fascinating city. Vera was an incredible font of information and a generous and engaging tour guide. We really appreciated her follow-up email summarizing the tour locations and the food we tasted, as well as her recommendations for a variety of things to experience during our vacation.
Andrea was fantastic. Such a wonderful tour filled with history, fun and great food. Thank you Andrea!
Vera is awesome. Well informed, easy to engage, friendly. Took us to some cool out of the places that we would never find on our own— a bookstore for charcuterie, a tiny tapas place that specializes in only 4 tapas, and a terrific little tavern with excellent choices. All within an easy walk. And later gave us a great list of recommendations for food, sites, and shopping. Great experience.
Unfortunately, I can't remember our delightful guide's name. She was an American artist living in Barcelona. The tour was well organized, spreading the evening out between the tour of the Gothic Quarter and stopping at three charming tapas restaurants. We had more than enough to eat and drink. I highly recommend this tour.
Vera was our guide & took us to various locations to enjoy fantastic tapas & wine. She also answered all of our questions & gave recommendations of where to go in Barcelona. We highly recommend this tour.
We had such a wonderful time! Thank you andrea for the lessons in food and this beautiful city.
Fantastic tour with a fantastic guide (Luke). Great food and drink selections, and we learned so much about the history of the Gothic Quarter. Food allergies were accommodated with great alternatives, and a wonderful time was had by all. Highly recommend!
We recent did the Tapas and Taverns food tour with Emma. We really enjoyed the tour. Emma did a great job showing us around the Gothic Quarter and introducing us to the food (we arrived from NYC that morning). I know we were doing a touristy thing, but it felt like we were doing something somewhat authentic as Emma brought us to a few Tapas bars and helped us get served. While I did not like all the foods (like anchovies), most of the food (cured meats, cheese, bread and a good dessert) were really good. Emma was very enthusiastic to share her love of food and Barcelona. She was a great communicator and made the evening very special. If you are interested in a tour like this, I highly recommend that you see if Emma is available.
This was a super entertaining and fun tour. Learned so much about the history of the goth quarters and the tapas we had were amazing. Each restaurant had different choices and you couldn’t go wrong. All the drinks were amazing too. Our tour guide was super animated which made the whole tour super engaging.
Our guide Luke was wonderful! He provided so much interesting history and insight into Barcelona. The tapas restaurants were phenomenal!
Luke gave us a great tour, with three stops at local tapas bars. What was special was that he included a great deal of history of the Gothic Quarter while we traveled between the stops. This was an excellent tour!
Andrea was extremely knowledgeable and selected wonderful restaurants for us and it was a beautiful evening
Kat led our Devour Tapas and Wines Barcelona Gothic quarter tour on Oct 12, 2026. She was an outstanding tour guide, keeping us entertained and on time to the three small venues we visited. Each place expected us, seemed to have a great relationship with Kat, and was completely prepared with our tasty tapas and drinks, which Kat explained beautifully. She also took us on a fun, wandering and history-filled walking tour of the Gothic quarter of Barcelona, putting ancient and more recent history as well as contemporary information about the area and the city as a whole into perspective for us. Our nice small group of ten all seemed to love it. Thanks, Kat, for a memorable evening!
We very much enjoyed our tour with James. He showed us many historical places in the Gothic Quarter and told us their stories. We went to 3 taverns, where we were served a drink and delicious food and James gave us the history of the taverns and the food as well. We liked the last place so much, we went back today for lunch. The drop off point was a little hard to find, although the visuals provided by the TripAdvisor link helped us know when we were at the meeting point. We took a taxi which got us close, even though it was a short walk and were glad we did. The streets are not straight or easy to navigate. We’ve done food tours all over the world and this was one of our favorites.
Emma was so knowledgeable, so passionate and made it such an enjoyable day and it was a fab way to see parts of the gothic quarter.
What a lovely time we had with Ariana. She is very kind and knowledgeable. I learned a lot about the history of Barcelona and the Catalan people. And of course the food and drinks were great. Recommend doing this tour at the beginning of your time in Barcelona to take advantage of her recommendations.
A fun and intriguing food tour which managed to seamlessly connect the food and drinks we were getting with the history we were learning. Ariana did a great job of explaining the history, pride and conflict that lays at the heart of Catalan culture and how that history in turn shapes the food culture of the city. The fact that Devour Tours sticks to local older restaurants and bars for their tours works exceptionally well and helps bring alignment between the history and food. The fact that we could try three distinct forms of restaurants, all serving tapas, yet unique and different from each other was a very fun experience.
Alex our guide was a delight. Very knowledgeable and made the experience really enjoyable. Learned a lot of history about the quarter as well as the food history.
It was a great blend of history, culture and food. I learned a great deal about Barcelona’s history.
Alex's talks about Barcelona history were fascinating and full of energy, and his knowledge of local food, drink, and culture made for the perfect Barcelona crash course. We particularly enjoyed his tidbits of lesser known historical trivia, and the food and drinks he introduced to us were simply amazing! He also shared with us a lengthy list of recommended restaurants and taverns which we immediately began to make use of the day after our tour. Absolutely wonderful! Book Alex and you are certain to have a fabulous time and learn something to boot.
Terrific tour. Great combination of food and history. Our guide Eric was very friendly and informative. We had lots to eat and drink: cava, vermouth, wine, fried sardines, cheese, ham, sausage, croquettes, cannoli, olives and more. We’d been to Madrid and already tasted many tapas but these were different and excellent. Highly recommended.
Feliciano was very knowledgeable and entertaining. Thoroughly enjoyed the tour, loads of history and plenty of delicious food.
This was very fun because Alexandra was so fun and informative. the restaurant were top class! I would highly suggest this tour to anyone.
Fabulous tour. Had a wonderful guide…Hector. Restaurants were all different with a variety of food choices. Gothic Quarter is beautiful. Highly recommend.
We had a great time on our tapas tour with Alexandra. She was friendly, hospitable, and made everyone feel welcome. We sampled food at three local tapas spots and learned about the city’s history along the way. Such a fun way to explore Barcelona and get a taste of the local food. A food tour is a must-do when visiting a new city!
Emma was amazing with her passion for gastronomy and knowledge of her City and Country. She easily answered any question the group had and departed much information to our small group. We had previously taken a gothic quarter tour, but we saw new and some of the same things in a new and passionate light which was much appreciated. It will be a prime memory of our trip. If you are able to request Emma, please do and you will not be disappointed. Our tour ran late and no one cared as we smiled our way through the Gothic Quarter.
We love food tours, especially if a little wine is on tap :-) We'd just gotten off a cruise ship that morning, didn't know what to do for dinner so had dinner (basically) with others, in the wonderful gothic quarter, in some brilliant taverns, large and small, eating amazing food and drinking some amazing wines! What an evening. If you're still hungry after this tour, then there's no one to blame but yourself!
Guide needs to supply.ear buds. Could not hear half what she said and walked too fast
Daniel was an outstanding tour guide and we overwhelmingly recommend hi. To anybody touring Barcelona! Excellent English and his history was outstanding.!
Vera was very knowledgeable and friendly. Enjoyed the tour!!
Nice tour that hits the major stuff in the Gothic quarter and then walked by 3 houses Gaudi designed. I should have done the Gaudi houses on my own.
This was more than I had hoped for. Don is so extremely knowledgeable about the history of the area, the wine that we tasted and the food of the local area that we enjoyed. This was an experience I would not want to have missed. Dom was one of the best guides! Just a 10/10 experience!
Alex was fantastic with his stories, knowledge the city and its food, and attention to details since our group had some people with food allergies. If you like food and wine take this tour!
Emma was fabulous! Good food, lots of tastes and traditional!! Loved the charming and old places! Very informative! A nice mix of history!! Thank you Emma!
Emma was a great guide! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience.
