it takes almost 3 hrs to do the red loop without getting off anywhere. add the one hour catamaran sail and we would have missed the ship. Just beware of your timings.

Reviews
Absolutely superb sightseeing trip around Barcelona. Using the hop on hop off bus. We completed the orange and green route, we also had the catamaran trip. All of it was superb. Highly recommended.
There are too few busses. We were told that busses run every 20 min. That would be ok as long as they were not all full when they showed up. We walked to several stops to try and catch one with seats and then drivers just drove past without even a gesture. Their competition had plenty of open seats and waited at this stops. Very poor service from my message to the provider (Viator).with no response about the lack of busses. Wasted over 2 hours trying to get on a bus. Would not recommend.
Employees didnt speak English well enough to actually provide assistance. The pre recorded tape actually would tell us to ask the Employees for things like directions to the Catermaran, and all they were capable of doing was pointing in a general direction and did not provide any aide on where to actually go. The app never worked. We could not find where thw bus stops were located. Some like "park Guell" are not located close to the park, it requires an exerting uo hill hike. The headphone have been littered all over the city. The other bus tour company clearly had more busses and more frequent pick ups. We tried g9 use the bus to gwt us to a scheduled tour, we gave ourselves 2 hours and at 1 hour in we were not half way to the destination, so we had to get off and get a taxi. The bus drivers stop everywhere stop and get off to smoke. They said the last bus was at 6pm, but we rode until 8pm to get back close to our hotel.... we boarded before 6pm, it took over 2 hours to go a few stops.
Easy way to see city as you can get on and off to see the sights that interest you. There are 2 buses that provide this so pay attention.
It can be cold and windy on the upper deck. Be prepared. Bring a coat and hat. Also, be sure to use the headphones.
They hop on hop off bus is very convenient. Only if you are going to be staying in Barcelona tonight, plus. Otherwise, you will not have enough time to get the most of your hop on hop off excursion.
Totally horrendous experience. Stay well away!!! Staff were so rude. We were not given headphones and tutted at when we asked for a set. We got off and on the bus at a stop and were shouted at and fingers clicked in our face by staff because we got on through the wrong bus door. The queue at the bus stop was not organised and we didn’t know which door to enter. We then had to get off and queue again only to be refused entry to the bus. They did not look after us at all. We gave up and walked the remained of the route. Stay away!!!
This was a great way to learn about Barcelona and get around to the places we wanted to see. The only issue we found was that the buses were quite full when we would pick them up, so having more buses in operation might have helped.
Always a great experience with the hop on and hop off tours bus . Gives you an overview of all the good spots then you can go back and check things out independently
Regular buses were great so no complaints regarding that. Buses were clean and staff polite. However 24 hr pass at £117 euro for a family of 4 ( 2 adults , 1 x 15 year old and 1 x 8 year old seemed high. The last bus stops at 7pm so you are not getting 24hr use out of it.
Make sure they have the correct credit card on file. Both tours were canceled since the cards were declined and Viator had no way to change to the correct one.
The bus itself was ok but the stops were really really hard to find! We looked for over forty minutes for the stop near the train station. We even asked for assistance at the bus station counter. We finally found it but it was shut down due to construction with no notice anywhere except for on the actual stop. Very frustrating! The views themselves from the bus were not all that great although the audio information was great.
Usually love Hop On Hop Off Gray Line Tours but found all the buses I used in Barcelona had many of the auto guided voice tour units out of order, so had no idea of what I was supposed to be looking at. That’s a big part of the tour that’s simply unavailable. IMO, no excuse for only providing half of what a customer pays for and no opportunity to be refunded. Avoid!
Staff was pleasant and I enjoyed the narration. Regret that we didn’t do the green line due to the wait time of the boat ride.

Big line at the Catalumya stop. It was over an hour wait to board at this location. Finding the Catamaran was a bit of a challenge. The bus personnel were not very helpful in finding where to go. They basically pointed in a general direction with no detail. When we finally located it, there was no one there. Came back an hour later and booked it. It was not included with the bus as advertised. We spent an addition $32 USD for the sailing. It was about an hour ride with beer and soda included.
Disappointed do not get dropped off at Park Guell. The walk from drop off is very long and uphill. Very difficult. Once you get to the park, it’s more uphill.
Part of the red route with no WiFi, headphones not working and when we reached Plaza Catalunya after only 2 stops,we were told to get off and get on another bus except that at least 50 people were already waiting for the bus! When a bus eventually arrived,it was full so that meant waiting for God knows how long..We gave up . How can you treat people like this ? When it comes to sell tickets, everybody is all smiles, but when there's a problem, nobody cares. So I would not recommend this company.
Ride was no problem unfortunately because of weather bus service was delayed tour it self was very nice
We booked and started waiting at a bus stop. No one came. We were there for one hour. There was a storm the night before. We tried for a refund but Viator refused!
I have used this bus in many other countries with no problems. The destinations & routs were great. Head phones worked good & very informative. Non of the employees were very friendly & glad to see us on any of the busses. We were left at our stop by the sea & waited over an hour for last bus that never came. We had to hire a taxi to get back to a stop closed to where we originally started. Because it was Sunday no one ever answered the phone or my txt to the operator. Terrible experience.
Great and easy way to see Barcelona. Plenty of busses on both routes. Staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend!
There are no clear instructions of where to locate the bus. If you’re a tourist and not familiar with the streets, you will have a difficult time finding places. And, because there are no listed locations, Google Maps cannot assist you. Very poor experience. I requested a refund.
Great way to see the city & get oriented. Once found the stops on the route it worked well. Beautiful city
The hop on hop off bus provided a great overview of the city. The orange and green routes were very different. Definitely wear a hat as it was very hot on the upper level
It was a great experience but found some of the stops were very long. I understand you wish to stay on schedule but several stops we waited way to long under the hot hot sun.
The amount of construction work going on around Barcelona at the moment meant we spend more time stuck in traffic than moving unfortunately. In other cities we jump on these buses and do the route to get the lay of the land and find where everything is, then on second lap we hop on and off and do our sight seeing. It took so long to get between stops here due to traffic / construction works that we couldn’t do that. Bit disappointed, ended up getting off and not getting back on - it was quicker to walk!
The busses ran on time and everyone was friendly. It is a great way to see the major attractions. Definitely do the two day ticket to see both the orange and green line fully.
Great way to get good overview of city. Many stops across route. Downside is sometimes bus is full and you have to wait for one or even two buses. Sometimes prerecorded audio is not quite in sync with where bus is (but not too far off)
Excellent tour of Barcelona however, we had to catch two Ubers to get us to the pier for the catamaran because the timing did not work and we would have missed the afternoon catamaran. As it was the catamaran trips that Saturday were cancelled and we were told that we could take the next one the following afternoon but that did not fit in with our plans. It was disappointing.
Probably one of the best hop on hop off tours ever. There were so many sights to see and the stops were available for them all. It’s best to start early because the buses get crowded later in the day
Terrible after 3 busses we could only get terrible seat positions facing oposite direction and right at the bottom back deck. A competitor bus tour 4 busses passed with plenty of seats. When asking the conductor just said there is a lot of people at al the stops. This is high season so why are there not more busses at peak times.. seemed the conductor could not give a damn. Looks very much like they want to run with no empty seats and at 22 euros a day it not value for money my advise go metro its cheaper and more reliable and easy to use. Also extremely hot no air con reached us sitting next to the engine
Doesn’t even deserve one star. Waited at one of the bus stops for over an hour, no sign of any bus. Contacted the company and they ignored me. I have since requested a refund as (obviously) the service was not used, and the money grabbers said no. I don’t know why they didn’t show but if there was a reason for it, they should have contacted people who they knew booked the service for that day. I ended up having to spend a fortune on Ubers as my time was very limited. I had 6 hours to site see and they robbed me of over 1 of them!!!!
Make sure to grab headphones and keep your paper receipt so you can get back on. Very enjoyable. Barcelona is very interesting
Beware! This operator allowed us to book the bus and catamaran tour but then in fine print, the catamaran was not available on that day per their website. I messaged them twice and called them but they never responded or answered. I requested a refund from Viator and it was refused. They claimed the catamaran was available (despite their website stating it wasn’t), but by the time they informed us of the times, it was too late in our day. I highly recommend you just book directly with the bus and catamaran companies and NOT use anyone on Viator.
Sometimes the audio doesn’t coincide with the right place but other than that it’s very informative and the placed we saw were really a work of art and full of love from the artists!
A++, great service , views are amazing , also easy to navigate with the paper guide
A good and easy way to see the highlights of Barcelona in a short period of time. Convenient stops, good frequency, friendly staff
We were in Barcelona only for the day before our mediteranean cruise to France and Italy so we booked the hop on hop off busnso we could see as muchbofnthebcity as we could in a short time. It did not disappoint. We saw the entire city and have a better idea what we would like to go back and see some day. It was a great moment transportation and we appreciated being able to see locations we would not have been able to see underground on the metro or in a taxi. It is worth doing and we are glad we did.
What a great show! The dancers, musicians snd singers were truly amazing! The small venue made it a unique experience.
We had the 48 hour pass with the catamaran tour. 2 days gave us the opportunity to explore the Orange and green lines, which was great. The catamaran tour was really beautiful, going roundtrip from the origin point. I highly recommend both!
What a great way to see all the best of Barcelona! Not to expensive and shows you all the best of the best!
Difficult finding the stop to jump on, tour was ok. We sat on top, Barcelona has lots of beautiful trees, challenging to take pictures.
Enjoyed our experience with City Tours / Julia, especially the orange line. These buses are always a great way to familiarise yourself with a new destination and are a good way to have a rest whilst you are still seeing new things! The only time we had a wait for a bus was when we boarded at the Sagrada Familia where it was heaving but the queue was well managed and staff were available to purchase tickets from (we had booked ours online in advance ) All staff were polite and helpful. Buses were plentiful and we were able to access them easily. Highly recommended.
Not worth the money in my opinion. Or book just one day, and not a 2 day pass. The routes are too long once you are out of the main city, so a lot of time can be wasted trying to get to where you want.
We purchased a 24 hour ticket mid afternoon beginning on the red route and covering the green route the following day. We thought the red route was better. Parts of the green route were not so interesting and with the constant stops at traffic lights it became a bit tedious. It was also frustrating was that not all the audio guide units worked which either meant moving seats or not having a commentary to listen to. It’s worth noting that the stop marked as Park Güell is actually some distance from the entrance - approx a 15 minute uphill walk.
The lower level of the bus is not airconditioned in the back where people sit - it was almost unbearable.
If you want to be able to know the city, this is a must do. All the places you want to know, it gets covered with the tour. When selecting, be sure to select the option that includes the boat ride. Excellent!!
Good way to spend the day and explore the city with the family (4 adults and a 6 months old). The catamaran boat ride is a must!!
