Stayed at Hotel SB Icaria for 8 nights. Overall, a decent stay but definitely some room for improvement. The bed was comfortable, although the bedsheet and towel had some mild mould stains. Soundproofing was really poor! The walls were so thin that we could clearly hear people talking next door, even in the middle of the night. The room was also a little dusty despite daily housekeeping. The bathroom had a bathtub with water leaking onto the floor. To be fair, reception offered to change our room, but we declined as we had already settled in. We requested an extra bathroom floor mat daily because of the leak, but housekeeping never provided one unless we called to ask. Every single day! Every morning housekeeping will start their vacuum cleaner by 8.45am or so - so if you’re not an early riser, be prepared for “natural” alarm clock. There’s no room service, which is fine, but when we asked for plates and cutlery for our takeaway food, we were told to go downstairs to the restaurant to collect them ourselves. No one could bring them up. Breakfast had a decent spread, although the quality was pretty average. Reception staff were a mixed bag. Some were friendly, but quite a few often looked rather unhappy to be there lol. On the plus side, the hotel is in a quiet neighbourhood, within walking distance of the beach. There aren’t many eateries nearby, but there are a few supermarkets and minimarts. Two metro stations are about a 15-minute walk away, and there are usually taxis waiting outside the hotel, which is convenient. Basic toiletries like shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided, but no toothbrush, slippers or bathrobes. Overall, an okay stay, but I’m not quite convinced it meets 4-star standards. Feels more like a 3-star hotel to me, although I understand hotel standards in Barcelona may be a little different.

My companion and I recently traveled to Europe for the very first time, and staying here made our introduction to Barcelona absolutely wonderful. The entire staff—from the front desk and restaurant team to the cleaning crew—was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. After a long, exhausting day navigating the airport and the metro, the front desk team went above and beyond by allowing us to check in early, which we deeply appreciated. The hotel itself is excellent. The building is continuously kept clean and well-maintained. Our room was really nice and featured great air conditioning, which made for a very comfortable stay. We really enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which offered a wide selection of choices to start the day. The only minor hiccup was that the coffee machine was a little tricky to operate, but that was a very minor issue in an otherwise seamless experience. The location is a pleasant, easy 5-minute walk down to the beach. This neighborhood is significantly calmer and quieter than most of the busier parts of Barcelona, making it a peaceful retreat at the end of the day. Just keep in mind that to reach the main tourist attractions, you will need to take an Uber or walk about 10 minutes to the nearest metro station. Overall, a highly recommended place to stay!
Expensive for unknown reason. Bathroom was super disgusting with rusty shower and stained bathtub. Swimming pool was always full of people, gym was tiny with no weights. Service was good though from the reception. The manager was helpful when I reported the AC broke for the whole night and was too hot to sleep. However, no one answered the phone when I called the reception at 2 am for the AC issue. I will never go back.
The hotel has an excellent location, very close to the beach and situated in a nice and upscale area, with a great variety of restaurants nearby. The reception staff were absolutely wonderful—very friendly, helpful, and welcoming. They were always happy to assist and made us feel very comfortable during our stay. The room service was also excellent. The breakfast, however, was somewhat disappointing considering its price. There were not many options for guests looking for healthy food or vegetarian choices. The only real downside of the hotel is the maintenance. I believe the hotel would benefit from some investment in renovation and updating, as some areas and facilities could use a refresh. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay, mainly thanks to the excellent location, wonderful staff, and great service.
The hotel was very clean and the staff friendly! There is a bus station not too far from the hotel but reaching the subway station sometimes took longer than what we hoped for. Do have to say, when you reach it, the L4 line connects to a lot of interesting spots in Barcelona and makes it easy to get around. The neighbourhood did seem friendly and relatively busy in the evening, which still gave us a certain feeling of safety despite arriving around 11pm.
