We stayed for 2 nights before our cruise and really enjoyed it. The beds are very comfortable, and rooms are spacious and clean. Location is fantastic - walking distance to major sights and plenty of restaurants nearby. Hotel staff are extremely helpful and friendly. They allowed us to check in early, which was greatly appreciated after our long flight. We had cocktails at the hotel bar, which was also excellent. Highly recommend this hotel!
Overall, a lovely stay in a great location. The hotel has a fantastic historic character that has been updated nicely with a modern twist. Pros: Staff: Incredibly pleasant, welcoming, and went out of their way to assist us throughout our stay. Rooms: Spacious, comfortable, and very clean. Atmosphere: Classic historic architecture with fresh, modern interior features. Things to Consider: Street Noise: We had a street-facing room, and the windows did not seem to seal properly, letting in a noticeable amount of traffic and street noise. If you are a light sleeper, it may be worth requesting an interior-facing room. A solid, characterful base for exploring the city. Would happily recommend it.
The room was really clean and the bed was super comfortable. The staff were so lovely and made you feel welcome from your first encounter. The location was close to lots of restaurants and the beach, you would need to use the metro if you wanted to sightsee. All in all would definitely recommend and stay again.
I came from the UK on holiday for four nights and I thought this hotel would be lovely to stay at. I was booked in room 503. Even if there can be many emergency vehicles passing the hotel and the view not being the best from my room, it’s a really nice hotel. The floor was clean, the beds were soft, the staff were friendly, the service was excellent and the hotel is like a 5 minute walk away from the beach. If I come back to Barcelona, I’ll probably be spending my nights here if the view was nicer. 👍
We booked a 3-night stay at Hotel Colonial Barcelona but checked out after the first night due to issues with the accommodations. Our original room had a strong sewer odor and cleanliness issues, which we reported to the front desk. The staff moved us to another room, and we appreciate their effort to address the issues. Unfortunately, while the odor was resolved, we still found the replacement room to be below our expectations in terms of cleanliness, maintenance, and overall comfort. We also experienced significant noise from outside and neighboring rooms. The hotel then offered a third room of the same level just on the other side which we felt would not resolve the issues. After the same issue persisting in 2 separate rooms, we were not confident the next room change would resolve our issue so we secured other accommodations. What was disappointing was that despite checking out after only one night of a three-night stay, no refund or any solution was provided for the two unused nights. While additional room changes were later cited as reasonable, we were just hoping for a good faith resolution based on our below average experience but weren’t given one. We understood but felt they could have done more. Convenient location but wouldn’t book a stay here again.
