Ended up at Hotel Catalonia Born after a last minute flight cancellation at 19:30. We scored a last minute room which was actually upgraded! As students, this was obviously relatively high end price-wise, but what you pay for you get double back. The hotel is gorgeous and all of the staff are so welcoming and hospitable. Our rescheduled flight was late the next evening, and we were allowed to keep our suitcases during the day at the hotel at no extra cost. Then when torrential rain caught us a couple hours before leaving for the airport, they allowed us to come wait in the bar without any expectation of buying drinks. The gym and the pool were clean, lovely amenities and we loved our short and sweet stay.

My wife and I came to Barcelona for the day while staying about two hours away. Neither of us had ever visited Barcelona before. We were having such a great time that we didn’t want to go home, so we decided to book a night at the Hotel Catalonia Born. What an amazing experience it was! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and they made our stay very enjoyable. The hotel is lovely, very comfortable, extremely clean, and in a fantastic location. When we return to Barcelona, hopefully very soon, this is 100% where I’ll be booking again. Thank you to all the staff – you’re doing an amazing job. See you again soon!
Good morning, I am writing to file a formal complaint, and I kindly ask that this reaches your management team. I am also forwarding this complaint to Booking.com. This concerns reservation number 6039030817, which was paid in advance through the payment link your hotel provided. Last night, 4 June 2026, the guest who was due to check in — travelling with a 7-year-old child — was assigned, upon arrival, a room completely different from everything advertised on your website. It was a room with no exterior windows, most likely a room normally used by the hotel's own staff (please see the attached photos). The room was unsanitary, with a smell of mould, and could not be aired out. When the guest requested a normal room, she was treated with contempt by the receptionist on duty, Ms Anaïs, who stated that she "was not interested" and that this was simply the room provided. In this way, a guest of your four-star hotel was humiliated by your own staff, in disregard of every basic rule of courtesy, respect and empathy — and this for a guest arriving with a minor child after 7–8 hours of travel, who simply needed a clean, properly ventilated place to sleep. Worse still, your guest — who had already paid for the room — was forced, in the middle of the night and in last night's torrential rain, to move to another hotel. Ms Anaïs at reception flatly refused even to lend an umbrella so the guest would not get soaked on the way to the taxi. I expect a response from you regarding the measures you will take, as well as a full refund of the prepaid accommodation. I hope this feedback from one of your clients gives you the opportunity to address the conduct of staff who are entirely unsuited to a hospitality business. I look forward to your prompt reply.
Location is my biggest factor in booking a hotel other than value. This location is nice with pros and cons. Taxi drivers had a hard time dropping us off and picking us up because this hotel is locked into the edge of a pedestrian area. I recommend walking to the Arc de Triomf to do pick up and drop offs. And walking the 2 minutes into the pedestrian area. The street noise is minimum due to this which is nice and it is very walkable. Many restaurants nearby as well as the park. Safe area. Staff were really nice. Check in was easy and room was ready early. They stored our bags after check out with no problem. Room was very clean and smelled clean too. The pool area got crowded. And is hard to use/ feels awkward in the late afternoon due to where the sun is in relation to the sunbeds. Our anniversary was acknowledged and we appreciate that.
Outstanding hotel! Comfortable, clean, and quiet. It’s in the perfect location - a 5 min walk to the metro station and close to everything, while still being away from the bustle of La Rambla. Our Superior Room was spacious and had a beautiful view of the Arc de Triomf. The staff were all friendly and welcoming. A lovely touch was the chocolates delivered to our room in the evening. Highly recommend this hotel. We will certainly be back!
