Loved our stay at Gran Hotel Barcino! We stayed in a Superior Room, directly across from the fascinating archaeological area where you can see the ancient ruins through the glass floor. Such a unique experience! The location was perfect, right in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, close to everything. Clean, comfortable, and full of Barcelona charm. Would definitely stay here again!

Staff tactics here focus heavily on aggressive upselling and tracking guest activity to maximize spending, leaving little room for actual hospitality or privacy. The priority is revenue, not guest comfort. If your plans are non-refundable, at least do yourself a favor and eat out—much better food is available nearby. Worst hotel to stay😔
Gran Hotel Barcino Barcelona – ★★★★s Excellent location right in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, surrounded by history and architecture. The staff were very friendly and welcoming without being pushy. Breakfast was fantastic – and what makes it truly special is that you're surrounded by history and archaeology right inside the hotel while you eat. A great way to start the day before exploring the old town. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to be in the middle of the action while still enjoying a relaxed, personal stay.
I wanted to leave a review to thank the staff for making our stay so special. We checked in on 17th June, and the gentleman who welcomed us, along with the two other men working during our stay, were absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, I didn’t get their names or have the chance to say goodbye before we left, but they were all so kind, friendly, and helpful throughout our trip. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they really went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience. Their warmth and hospitality genuinely made our trip even better, and it’s clear they care deeply about their guests. We had such a lovely stay at the hotel and felt so well looked after from start to finish. Thank you all so much!
This review is unique, as I was a guest at the grand barcino in both their newly renovated Roman area, as well as their regular rooms. I have to say, their newly renovated roman area rooms are absolutely 5 star quality. The rooms are modern while also being situated in the historic part of the hotel, they are spacious, with USB ports everywhere (useful if you don’t have a lot of travel adapters), the shower feels great, and their robes are the most comfortable we have ever tried. As for their older rooms, I will say they are slightly average. What was the most frustrating part was that our AC didn’t work, and due to the lack of availability of the roman area for our second reservation, it felt like a slight downgrade, but still of good value. However the real highlight of this hotel is the reception desk. I have never in my life seen a more dedicated hotel staff in my life. When we informed them our flights were canceled, they did their best to accommodate me however possible, even calling nearby hotels to understand our options better (due to lack of availability at the location, although ultimately we were able to extend our stay there). They allowed us to do a late checkout due to the issues we had with the AC, transported our bags from one room to the other, among many other things. At the end of our stay, we were thinking about our options for transportation to the airport, and after I asked what options we had with such short notice, one of the receptionists ran out of the lobby when he saw a taxi driver by and got us a ride on the spot. I have visited a total of nearly 20 countries in South/North America and Europe, and this hotel has by far the absolute best staff ever. It makes the AC problem, flight cancellations, and other inconveniences seem less stressful. Thank you for this experience and masterclass in hospitality!
