My wife and I decided to visit Spain for 7 days and booked a 2-night stay at Hotel Atenea Port Barcelona Mataró through Trip.com. We flew from London to Barcelona on 04/05/2026 and landed around 21:35. After collecting our rental car at the airport, it took us nearly 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the hotel, and we finally arrived around 23:10 local time. Before unloading our luggage, I went to reception to confirm our booking and check in. The young lady at reception completed the check-in process, and we also paid the local tourist taxes, which is standard procedure. However, our experience became disappointing when I asked about parking. The receptionist informed us that hotel parking was available for €15 per day, which was acceptable. I then asked whether it would be safe or acceptable to park in an off-site parking area nearby. Unfortunately, she seemed unsure and struggled to explain things clearly in English. Considering this is a hotel located near the marina and receives international guests, I believe the hotel should ensure that reception staff can communicate confidently in at least one international language to better assist travellers. Another thing we noticed was that whenever we asked for help or basic information, the first response was usually about additional charges or prices. This made the service feel less welcoming. Overall, while the location may suit some visitors, we personally felt the hotel did not provide the level of customer service we expected. In our opinion, the hotel is overrated and not good value for money. We would not recommend it and would suggest looking at other hotel options in the area instead.

I had a really great stay at this hotel in Barcelona. Everything was very clean, well-organized, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. The bed was super comfortable, and I slept really well. The breakfast was excellent with a good variety, and the service was outstanding. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. There was a lady at reception who was especially kind and patient, and she spoke English with me, which I really appreciated. At breakfast, another lady was very friendly and attentive, always smiling and bringing food. There was also a staff member from Morocco who was very nice and welcoming, which made the experience even more personal. The view from the hotel was absolutely amazing, and overall, I had a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. The price was a bit high for me, but honestly, the experience was worth it. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone, and I would definitely come back if I visit Barcelona again.
I booked this reservation not realizing that I had booked a non refundable room I contacted Expedia the next day before 24hrs had passed and they said they couldn't do it so I contacted the property yesterday and they were more than willing to help me with my exceptional situation the Hotel Atenea Port Barcelona Mataro I am highly recommend anyone wishing to stay there Orlando Diaz
Excellent hotel in a great location. The Atenea Port is perfectly situated near the port and very close to the train station, making it easy to reach Barcelona in about 30 minutes. The rooms are spacious, modern, very clean, and extremely comfortable—some even offer lovely views of the marina. The facilities are a real plus: a nice outdoor pool area, gym, and spa that make the stay even more relaxing. The staff deserves a special mention for being friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. Breakfast is varied and of good quality, and the hotel restaurant offers tasty Mediterranean dishes. Overall, a very pleasant stay and a hotel I would definitely recommend. I would happily return.
The hotel is fine - we only stayed one night as we were checking it out ahead of recommending it to our wedding guests (we won't be recommending it...). The rooms were big but it isn't a double bed, it's two single beds pushed together which I personally hate as they just slip apart. It's almost a downgrade from my bed at home as you then end up sleeping on a single bed... otherwise rooms were fine. A little tired but fine. The hotel was incredibly busy (we stayed mid August) meaning we couldn't get a sun lounger at the pool until after 6pm and when we did, there were screaming children, a couple making out in the pool and a lady on FaceTime in the pool on loud without headphones...not the most relaxing but more a reflection of the guests rather than the hotel itself! 😂 We planned to have dinner in the hotel but we're told there was no availability to sit outside to eat so we decided to go elsewhere for food. This was really disappointing. It would have been useful to be told ahead of time to reserve a table if we wanted to eat in the evening. Breakfast was fine - nothing ground breaking but was fine. Location of the hotel was good with beach options and different restaurants. It's definitely more of a corporate hotel than a holiday one. Overall we found the experience expensive for what we got.
