Accommodation was nice and hotel was fine. A bit far from main areas. I have to say that they are not very good at getting back to you. I think I left my rings somewhere in the room and my husband, plus myself have send emails but have had no response, a bit disappointed in this, I have to say.
Overall, we had a very good experience at this hotel. The location is very convenient, the food is delicious, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Everything was great and we really enjoyed our stay. Unfortunately, there was one thing that really disappointed us — we found cockroaches in our room. We saw them in the bathroom and near the entrance to the room. Honestly, I haven’t experienced anything like this in a hotel for a very long time, so it was quite shocking and unpleasant. Apart from this issue, the hotel itself is really nice and we were happy with everything else. I simply want to mention it so that future guests are aware that they might encounter this kind of unpleasant surprise. I really hope the hotel takes care of this problem, because otherwise it is a great place to stay.

Location was a reasonable distance to the tourist areas if you don’t mind walking. Our room was spacious with a basic kitchenette and dining table/chairs. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Barcelona is expensive so perhaps it was reasonable value to stay here compared to other options. We didn’t have a positive check-in experience. We arrived tired after many hours of travel and when we approached the counter the staff did not greet or acknowledge us. There seemed to be a minor issue that they were addressing but a simple “hello, we’ll be with you in a moment” would have helped us feel welcomed. After several minutes of standing there we were finally knowledged. Then we were unexpectedly charged the city tax which I believed had already been paid in advance. The staff member disregarded my concern and told us “city tax is always paid during check in at all hotels” which is not actually true. My advice is to check your booking because in some cases you’ve paid in advance and other times you have not, it’s unclear and inconsistent. The hot water mostly was non existent. It took 10 minutes before it got warm one day, the second day it never got warm. The temperature in the room was hard to regulate.
We stayed at Aparthotel Mariano Cubi in December 2025. During our stay, a major water leak from the ceiling made our room unusable, and we had to move apartments around 9 pm. Only one staff member was on duty, so we received no assistance with the move. Additionally, the fridge in the original room was faulty, causing all our stored food to spoil. The staff was polite and offered free breakfast, which we did not use. Overall, the hotel is old and in poor condition. The rooms and kitchen facilities are generally disappointing, and the issues we experienced caused a significant disruption, especially traveling with a 5-month-old baby. Management refused any compensation for the inconvenience, which we found very disappointing.
