Moddy was very friendly with good communication. Unfortunately this one was not for me, but think it would have been better as a group tour. After booking different tours multiple days while in Bangkok, this was my least favorite. Went to a couple of the beautiful temples and tried to ask questions, but would have liked to learn more about local history and culture. Other private tours I booked on this trip were more informative and enjoyable.

Kung was a great guide. She was very knowledgeable and I had information about Thailand culture that I was looking for. Great time with her and I got a lot of memories because she was amazing with the pictures. Thank you so much Kung for your hospitality.

This tour was really good. Our guide was fantastic, she knew everything about buddishm. We learned a lot during this tour. Highlight of this tour was when we met a monk and got blessing. Moddy was the best tour guide a solo traveler (or anyone) could ever ask for. Not only is she incredibly knowledgable, she was very kind, thoughtful and helpful. As soon as I was interested in a solo tour, I first contacted Moddy via WithLocals. My priority was to see Wats and to receive a blessing from a Buddhist Monk. She provided me with the proper information to help guide my decision. As soon as I received her friendly description of what my personalized tour would be, I booked it immediately on the website to secure my time with Moddy. Because I was far from the meeting area, Moddy arranged to meet me at my local train station. My train station was 1.5 hours away from where she lived. This in itself showed me Moddy's dedication and care to ensure my personalized tour would be a positive experience. She then showed me how to use the transit system, we even took a boat down a canal! It was very exciting. Throughout the tour, she explained to me the history of Buddhism and the Kingdom of Thailand. I learned so much. Moddy is a Historian who had answers to my many questions and took the time to take my photo during key moments of the trip. During the Wat visits, she ensured that I received my Blessing from the resident Monk as well as guided me through Buddha principles, respect and prayer practices. She led me through a meditation and offered me encouragement to continue meditation practice. We also spent a lot of time walking and hiking staircases, the unexpected exercise was a welcomed bonus for me. I truly enjoyed my time educationally, emotionally and physically with Moddy. Afterwards, we had a lovely lunch where she took me to a local, family owned (Michelin starred) restaurant. The cost was very inexpensive and the food was fantastically delicious. Excellent, knowledge-filled experience, visiting temples and learning of Buddhism, and even having the opportunity to participate in some rituals for deeper understanding.

Moody speaks English well. Her knowledge of Buddhism was enlightening and we very much enjoyed the experience of listening to the traditional Buddhist practice of chanting and talking with a monk afterwards. The temples and meditation areas are beautiful. We also took an evening market food tour with Maddy that was filled with delicious food that we would not have known to try. She is very kind and went out of her way to make our experiences on both tours excellent.

Nok was the sweetest tour guide we’ve ever had. She took so much time answering our questions, was INCREDIBLY knowledgeable of all aspects of Bangkok, and gave us such in-depth information about Buddhism in Thailand. She even taught us some of the language! My girlfriend and I left that tour feeling like we truly experienced such an important element of life in Bangkok, and it’s all thanks to Nok! This was an excellent tour. Our guide, Gune, was filled with knowledge and tailored the experience based on out interests. She took us to several temples, provided answers to our many questions was was a pleasure to be with. We sat and had a nice conversation with a monk who added even more information. The tour is very interesting, far from touristic places, Araya our guide, who speaks French, explained us monk daily life .This tour helped us to a better understanding of Buddhism before visiting the great temples.

This was my first time using 'Withlocals'; it won't be the last. My visit to Bangkok was made all the better by Moddy. She kept in touch prior the meeting; gave clear and concise details about the meeting place and time. The tour guide was amazing, with a deep knowledge of and understanding of Buddhist spirituality, religion and culture. She was helpful to understanding our difficulties, and patient. I meditated briefly while I was in the temples, and she helped guide us both through that. BTW, the cats in the temple were hilarious!

We had a fantastic time on this tour. Our guide was patient kind attentive and taught us so many things. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in Buddhist culture. She took many pictures of us and with us and we kept in touch afterwards on WhatsApp.

We had a wonderful few hours with Piyaporn. She was very friendly, informative and helpful. She explained everything well, took lovely family pictures of us and we really enjoyed all the temples we saw and the monk offering experience. Highly recommend!

Our guide Khant was highly knowledgeable and very elegant. It was thoughtful to combine knowledge of the history- traditional story telling ( she was engaging ) and a blessing. Did aspire to meet the monks and meditate a little at least with them but our walking meditation with Khant made up for that. Highly recommended to seek out Khant- beautiful guide !

I thoroughly enjoyed my tour visiting some of the great temples in Bangkok and learning more about Buddhism. My tour guide was kind, knowledgeable, and passionate about what she does. I didn't feel rushed at all during the tour, we were able to go at our own pace, take pictures, ask extra questions, take breaks, and do whatever was necessary to get the best out of the trip! Honestly I'm so glad I was able to nook this tour because I feel like I got the attention and information I needed. I would totally book again and book other tours that she may have to offer!

Very educational and informative tour. Piyaporn was wonderful and gave us a great experience We saw Loha prasat and wat Saket plus one more temple. Also had a discussion with the monk and gave the offering. Piya also helped us take the canal boat to the bts

Fantastic experience! Exactly what you might expect from a Buddhism guided tour. My guide, Kung, knew everything about Thailand history and Buddhism, answering all my questions . The two temples we visited weren't as big as Wat Arun or Wat Pho, but for me that was a positive side! The temples were almost empty, we had the whole place almost to ourselves! It was a fantastic opportunity to learn new things and dwelve more into Thailand's culture and the teachings of Buddhism. Thank you very much! To make the experience even better, after the end of the tour, stop by some family restaurant at the corner of the temple and order some Pad Thai for takeaway. Have it outside the restaurant, sitting by the road, watching the day unfurl slow. The bells ringing at the top of the temple made the afternoon magical.

Views of the temple very nice . Monks visit , prayers in a temple a real experience . I understand better about Meditation after this visit .

We initially booked the tour with Moddy but it turned out we booked too late for some temples (after closing time), and as Moddy wasn’t available she managed to coordinate with Saravarint to take us over in the earlier slot..great team work! Saravarint was a great guide for us, taking us through more peaceful and enjoyable temples, which was very much appreciated and quite the opposite to our earlier experience with our self-driven tour of Grand Palace (very touristic and crowded). She explained to us a lot about Thai culture, buddhism and customs when in a temple. She adapted the tour on the fly based on our preferences, took us through the temples as if we were a local and at the end recommended some good restaurants to have dinner. Can highly recommend Saravarint as a guide and the tour itself! Make sure to book no later than 2:30pm to get the best out of the tour.

If you’re visiting Bangkok (or, for that matter, Thailand) and don’t know much about Buddhism, I highly recommend this tour and Sudarat. Buddhism is such an integral part of the life and culture of the Thai people, and you’ll have a much greater appreciation after this tour. Sudarat clearly explained the religion and its history, and expanded on our questions, answering questions we hadn't thought to ask, and adding in personal experiences. As a long term resident of Bangkok she also gave us much information about the city and country, their history and life here. We also enjoyed her easy-going manner and nice sense of humor.

I usually do not do reviews but my time with Saravarint was truly amazing! She is very knowledgeable and the most sweetest person. She customized my time with her and I had the best time. I will never forget my time and experience with her. I have some amazing pictures and hope to book more tours in the future. If you are looking for a genuine person she is the one to book!! 🙏💕

Sudarat was wonderful. She explained everything beautifully and was able to answer any questions I had. She even took wonderful photos of me and gave some great suggestions for the rest of my trip.

We spent 2 days with Sudarat . One in Bangkok and the other in Ayutthaya. She is knowledgeable and very personable. Took us away from the hordes of tourists . Lunch with the locals instead of at the restaurant with the tour buses. Gave us a behinds the scenes look at a sugar company . She is all the stars available . Top notch . The cats pyjamas!

Wow! I loved this tour. I don’t know if it would be for everyone, but if you are interested in Buddhism, then I recommend it. I have a basic understanding of Buddhism, but I still learned a lot. Being able to meet with a monk and ask questions was very special for me. Also, our guide was awesome and very knowledgeable. I have nothing negative to say about this experience.

Have been wanting to do a merit making trip in Bangkok temples but it's hard if one don't speak Thai. Kul was great in bring me to various temples and do merit rituals side by side with me and guiding me. Great way to experience Thai culture!

We are a family of 3 (2 adults and a 5 year old) and did the Buddhism tour with Sudarat. She was very personable, communicated well, and spoke very good English. She personalized the tour for us and was very engaging. We were able to speak to a monk at the first temple, who did a blessing for our daughter who recently passed, and was patient enough to answer the questions of our son. Highly recommend!

Would really recommend this tour, and Moddy as a guide. Very clear communication before the tour. The tour itself was very informative and gave great insight into Thai Buddhism. The temples were beautiful even if it was a bit wet because of the weather. Moddy was very chatty and friendly. She also helped me to get back to where I was staying using the MRT and ferry, and gave me some recommendations on what else I should do while I’m here.

Our private tour was amazing! Our guide Kung was the most well spoken and welcoming person we could have asked for. She was an amazing story teller and explained the history of the temples and artifacts in an engaging way. Her english was perfect and she included a Monk blessing and several offerings in her guided tour. At the end of our visit she directed us to a water taxi that went straight to our hotel and communicated with the driver for us! Her kindness and enthusiasm for her job was very clear. Highly recommend this tour with Kung as your guide!

Araya was wonderful to work with from our initial contact all the way through the tour She is friendly, very knowledgeable, and brings lot of life experience to the tour. It was just me so we adapted to fit what I was interested in and what some recent foot surgery allowed. We still climbed up temples, but I couldn't get on the floor for the monks blessing so she was able get it done standing up. She speaks excellent English so easy to understand all the things she was telling me right down to the fine details. I would happily work with Araya again when in Bangkok.

Had a fantastic tour with Petz (booked via WithLocals). He tailored the tour to our requirements, was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. He took us o into a number of wonderful locations we had never even heard about and even managed to arrange a private session with a local monk! I know he has a number of other tours he provides (including a night time tour) and would have no hesitation in recommending him.

Polly could not have done any more. The tour was interesting and informative. She was so knowledgeable about the temples and the customs. She collected me from my hotel and made sure that I was back in a taxi at the end of the tour. Our guide Whetchayan was very friendly and gave us a great introduction to Buddhism in Thailand. He showed us multiple sites including the beautiful Golden Mountain and explained how they are used in the Buddhist tradition. He also answered all our questions about things we passed along the way, suggested good photo opportunities, and helped us make an offering to the temple and pay respects when we wanted to.

Neither my hotel nor my taxi driver knew the address chosen to meet at so we never found our guide. We couldn't go and were really disapointed

Today was brilliant. Kung (my guide) was not only very knowledgeable but also so passionate about everything she talked about. This tour has unexpectedly increased my interest in Buddhism exponentially I saw, learned and experienced so much, you couldn’t ask her a better guide. I was lucky enough to have Kung to myself, she was worth every penny. She even helped me to get the correct train home! Kung is such a sweet, knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. She shared so much history about Thailand, the Royal Family, how Bangkok was developed, the life of monks, etc. She is also a great photographer, which was fantastic for us since most of our photos have been selfies to these point. We would highly recommend Kung when visiting Bangkok, and when we come back we will certainly plan to visit with her again to learn about the Old City.
